Erna Jaeger, 91, formerly of 1021 N. Garden S., in New Ulm died Monday, May 15, 2000, at Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. today at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with burial in St. Stephen's Cemetery in Concord, Wis.
There will be no reviewal. The family will receive relatives and friends for one hour before the service at the church. Minnesota Valley Funeral Homes in New Ulm is handling the arrangements.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Pastor Arnold Koelpin of New Ulm; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Oestreich of New Ulm; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Isabelle and Ray Schuelke of Watertown, Wis.; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence, on Aug. 14, 1973; brothers, Hermann Otto and Carl Otto; and sisters, Frieda Schuelke, Esther Marcks, and Emily Frank.
She was born Dec. 4, 1908, in Medford, Wis., to August and Ernstina (Baumann) Otto. She attended school in Watertown, Wisconsin. On Sept. 10, 1930, she married Lawrence Jaeger at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Watertown, Wis., She held various jobs around Watertown and Oconomowoc, Wis. She moved to New Ulm in the fall of 1977. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm, and a past member of the Ladies Aid at church, Dr. Martin Luther College Auxiliary, and New Ulm Senior Citizens.
The family prefers memorials to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm.

Frieda Ulrich, 91, of Hutchinson, died Monday, May 15, at Burns Manor Nursing Horne in Hutchinson.
Services are 1 p.m. today at Faith Lutheran Church in Hutchinson with burial in Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Buffalo Lake.
She is survived by sons, Gerald Ulrich and his wife Carol of New Ulm, Dennis Ulrich and his wife Norma of Buffalo Lake, James Ulrich and his wife Monnie of McGregor; daughter, Lucille Wehking and her husband LuVerne of Hutchinson; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Walter Braun and wife Selina of Hutchinson, Elmer Braun of Buffalo Lake, sister-in-law, Gladys Ulrich of Buffalo Lake.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edwin; brothers, Eric Braun and Alfred Braun; and sister, Viola Grams.
She was born April 13, 1909, in Buffalo Lake, to Max and Martha (Schmidt) Braun. She married Edwin Ulrich on Nov. 7, 1928, at Zion Lutheran Church. Buffalo Lake. They farmed near Buffalo Lake and also owned and operated a small cafe in Buffalo Lake in the late 1940s and early 1950s. They retired and moved into Buffalo Lake in 1960. After her husband's death in 1985, Frieda moved to Park Towers in Hutchinson. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo Lake until moving to Hutchinson, where she joined Faith Lutheran Church.

Bert Schapekahm, 68, Mayor of New Ulm, died May 18, 2000, at Methodist Hospital, Rochester.
Services are tentatively set for 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is tentatively scheduled for 4-9 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Monday at Firle Funeral Home, and continuing one hour before the service Monday at the church.

Warren Bakken, 62, of Waconia, formerly of New Ulm, died Thursday, May 18, 2000, at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Christ Victorious Lutheran Church in Chaska with burial in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Waconia.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Johnson Funeral Home, Waconia; and at the church one hour before the service. There will be a chapel service at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; children, Rebecca and Dr. Randel Stolee of Perham; Scott and Mary Jo Bakken of Okinawa, Japan; Cynthia and Rev. Gene Lilienthal of Brownsburg, Ind.; Steven and Wendy Bakken of Waconia; 14 grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law, Maynard and Carolyn of Garfield, Roger and Sharon of St. Paul, Gordon and Ruby of Minneapolis, Wayne and Cookie of Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; Darwin of Sacramento, Calif; sisters and brothers-in-law, Wendolyn and Don Dressel of Spirit Lake, Iowa; and Ialda Schramm of South St. Paul.
He was born Aug. 8, 1937 in Linden Township, Brown County, to Marvin and Gladys Anderson. He was a 1955 graduate of New Ulm High School.

Dorothea Jordan, 100, of Redwood Falls died Wednesday, May 17, 2000, at Wood Dale Nursing Home.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday, at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls with burial in the Redwood Falls Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today Friday at Nelson Funeral Home in Redwood Falls and will continue on Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.
She is survived by sons; Donald of Redwood Falls, John and wife Verna of Redwood Falls and Alex and wife Arlene Jordan of Waubay, S.D.; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and sister Helene Wittwer of Springfield.
She was preceded in death by her husband; brothers, Arthur and Ernest; sisters, Emma and Frieda; and a granddaughter Denise.
She was born on Jan. 16, 1900 in Janesville, to Max and Bertha (Heuer) Arndt. She moved to Redwood County with her family as a young girl and attended country schools. On Oct. 14, 1926, she married Otto Jordan at St. John Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls. They farmed southwest of Redwood Falls until retiring in 1977 and moving into Redwood Falls. Otto died on May 21, 1983. She entered the Wood Dale Nursing Home in 1987. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and served as church organist.

New Ulm Mayor Bert Schapekahm, 68, died Thursday, May 18, 2000 at Methodist Hospital, Rochester, after a long battle with leukemia.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Ulm, with burial in the church cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the New Ulm American Legion Post 132.
Visitation is 3-9 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Monday at Firle Funeral Home, New Ulm, and will continue one hour prior to services Monday at the church.
He is survived by daughters, Becky Meinert and husband Jim of rural Sleepy Eye, Susan Wales and husband Glen of St. Paul Park, Lisa Schneider and husband Dan of New Ulm, and Tammy VanWinkle and husband Steve of Farmington; son Steve and wife Denise of Eagan; 16 grandchildren; mother Martha Schapekahm of New Ulm; brothers, Gary and wife Lois of Wild Rose, Wisc., Rich and wife Marion of New Ulm, and LeRoy and wife Carol of New Ulm; sisters, Omie and husband Bill Schimmel of Mankato, Judy and husband Bud Schroer of New Ulm, and Ruth and husband Dean Bartsch of Brooklyn Center; sisters-in-law, Marliss Gieseke of New Ulm, Janice Longhenry of Glencoe, and Joanne Frey of Grayslake, Ill.; brothers-in-law Orin Schultz of New Ulm, and Adelbert Schultz of New Ulm; many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife Darleen, and his father.
Egbert Gerhardt Schapekahm was born June 4, 1931 in New Ulm to Adolph and Martha (Seehusen) Schapekahm. He attended St. Paul's Lutheran Schooland New Ulm Public School. He was manager of Simons Lumber Company, New Ulm. he served in the Minnesota Army National Guard during the Korean War. He married Darleen Schultz on May 1, 1954 in Winthrop. He worked with the New Ulm Police Department from May 1, 1958 to May 1, 1993. He became mayor in January 1994, and was serving his second term. He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, the American Legion, Region Nine Development Commission, Chamber of Commerce, and the country western group Trail Riders.

Judith Nordby, 88, of Minneapolis, died Wednesday, May 17, 2000, at Ebenezer Lutheran Home, Minneapolis.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Thomson Brothers Funeral Home, 2535 Park Avenue S., Minneapolis. A graveside service will be 3 p.m. Saturday in the Franklin Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
She is survived by sons, James, Gerald (Debra); daughter, Betty Olsen; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; and a son, Roger.
She was born December 29, 1911 in Camp Township to Wright Welch and Lois Borstad.

Anna C. Miller, 87, formerly of 521 South Valley in New Ulm died Saturday, May 20, 2000 at Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm, with burial in the Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 7:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, LaVon and Wesley Smith, Marcia White, and Linda and Ronald Bolduan all of New Ulm, Diane Maidl of Sauk Rapids; a daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Miller of New Ulm; sons and daughters-in-law, Myron Miller of Ettrick, Wis., Wallace and Sharon Miller of Eagle Lake; 37 grandchildren; 58 great grandchildren; one great great grandson; and a sister-in-law, Ann Schmit of Redwood Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo P. Miller on March 3, 1964; a daughter, Sandra Miller in 1945; and sons, Gerald Miller in 1979, and James Miller in 1989.
She was born July 31, 1912 in Granby Township, Nicollet County to Theodore and Theresia (Schottenbauer) Schmit. She married Leo P. Miller on June 3, 1930 at the Church of the Visitation in Swan Lake. After marriage they resided in rural Lafayette, Courtland and then New Ulm. She had worked as a daycare giver in her home for 20 years and had also worked for Supersweet Feeds in New Ulm. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm and was a lifetime member of the St. Teresa's Society and the St. Jude's Society.

Leonard 'Lenny' Fischer, died Saturday, May 20, 2000, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Services are 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today nd 7:30-9 a.m. on Tuesday at Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield. There will be a men's rosary at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the church and a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home on Monday.
He is survived by his wife, Bernie Fischer of Springfield; children and their spouses, Gerard and Paulette of Springfield, Johnita and Steve Ihrke of Rochester, Kim and Russ Anderson of Springfield, Jeff Streich of Springfield, Alethea and Roger Fry of Omaha, Neb., Bill Fischer and special friend Jean Swenson of Hillsboro, N.D., Clifton and Renita Streich of Springfield, and Bridget Streich and special friend John Wright of Hutchinson; 19 grandchildren; brothers, Jim and wife Sharyl Fischer of Brooklyn Park, Dennis and wife Lois Fischer of Sommer, Mon.; special friend of the family Karen Kastner of Comfrey and many relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; and sister-in-law, Donna Fischer.
He was born on Oct. 18, 1929, in Bashaw Township, Brown County, to Rudy and Ann (Engelhardt) Fischer. He grew up and attended country school in Bashaw Township. He married Bernadette Sellner on Sept. 2, 1952, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. The couple farmed in Bashaw Township, near Springfield. He was a lifetime member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield.

Sadie Soupir, 88, of rural Milroy, died Saturday, May 20, 2000, at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud.
Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Milroy with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the church, and there will also be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Visitation will continue Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church.
She is survived by her children Joan and Gerald Wagner of Wabasso, Larry Soupir of Lucan, Delores and Hal Kravig of Bartlett, Tenn., and Robert Soupir of Milroy of Milroy; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband; one grandchild and four brothers.
She was born July 31, 1911, in Wabasso to Anton and Lona (Macheledt) Zollner. She married Tony Soupir on July 30, 1935, at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Wabasso. The couple farmed in the Wabasso area until the fall of 1966 when they moved to rural Milroy. They retired in 1973. Tony died on May 18, 1997. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church.

Jeanette Christianson, 75,of Butterfield, died Thursday, May 18, 2000, at Regent Care Center in San Antonio, Texas.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Butterfield with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Tuesday and 8-11 a.m. Wednesday at the Eifert Funeral Home in Mountain Lake and continues one hour before the service at the church.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Florence and Ric Allen of Lakewood, Wash., and Sandi and Scott Carlyon of San Antonio, Texas; grandsons, Michael Allen of Dayton, Ohio, Jonathon and Joshua Allen, both of Lakewood, Wash.; brothers and sisters, Elvin and Alice Sonnabend of Butterfield; Erma Larson of Lead, S.D., Alice Willis, Tony Sonnabend and Harvey and Luella Sonnabend, all of St. James, and Norbert Sonnabend of New Ulm; sisters-in-law, Charlene Sonnabend of New Ulm, Clara and Armin Schenk of Butterfield, Sylvia Hoscheid of St. James and Hazel Christianson of Springfield; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1993; and brothers, Harold and Arnold Sonnabend.
She was born on May 12, 1925, in South Branch Township, Watonwan County, to Herman and Bertha (Trebesch) Sonnabend. She attended St. John's School in South Branch. On June 28, 1944, she married Alvin Martin Christianson at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. James. The couple farmed near Darfur until 1963, when they moved in to Butterfield. She worked at Butterfield Foods and later in the cafeteria at the Butterfield-Odin Public School. She was a member of St. Matthew's Evangelical Church in Butterfield.

Lena Oetting, 95, of New Ulm, died April 2, 2000, at the New Ulm Medical Center.
Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the New Ulm City Cemetery.
Firle Funeral Home of New Ulm is handling arrangements.

Mayzel Skrove, 67, of Madelia, died May 21, 2000, at Madelia Community Hospital.
Services are 1;30 p.m. Wednesday at Augustana Lutheran Church, St. James, with burial in Haugen Lutheran Cemetery, Jackson.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sturm Funeral Home, St. James; and continues one hour before services at the church.
She is survived by her husband, Milton of Madelia; daughters and sons-in-law, Faith and Jim Allen of Reno, Nev., Debra and Shawn McCarron of Rochester, Terri and Paul Schmitter of South Hadley, Mass., Connie and Jim Anderson of Eagle Lake, Marcia and Brad Kiebel of Kasson, Carol and John Justice of Ringsted, Iowa; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Sheila Skrove of St. Peter, Brian and Robin Skrove of Fairmont; 19 grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Krenz of Madelia Norma Hogge of Chicago, Maxine Hoppe of Trimont, Darlene Brummond and husband Kenneth of Truman; sister-in-law, Pat Kneeland of Fairmont;th by her parents; brothers, Ron and LeRoy; and sisters, Olive, Clarabelle and Wilma.
She was born July 23, 1932, in Westford Township, Martin County, to Lester and Lulu (Hawk) Kneeland. She attended schools in the Truman area. She married Milton Skrove on April 25, 1956, in Mason City, Iowa. They live in Jackson, Martin and Watonwan counties. She was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church in St. James.
