June Agnes (Bonnier) Malley
June Agnes (Bonnier) Malley, who helped start one of the first Girl Scout Troops in Proctor in 1956, died Thurs., May 30, 2000 in a Duluth hospital. She was 81.

The Proctor resident was born in Ely. She was a graduate of Ely High School and moved to Proctor in 1945.

She lived her adult life in Proctor and was a very active member of St. Rose Church. She remained active in the Girl Scouts for over 40 years.

She was a longtime member of the National Catholic Society of Foresters. She was a Meals on Wheels volunteer from 1970 to 1998. She was a member of the Miller Dwan Medical Center Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband Roger, daughters Carol Hessevick of Grand Rapids, Marilyn Allen of Proctor, Susan Malley of Knife River and Deborah Williams of Eden Prairie, Minn., sons Donald Malley of Babbitt, Wayne Malley of Duluth, Martin Malley of Omaha, Neb., Daniel Malley and Richard Malley both of Proctor, 22 grandchildren, a sister Jean Mistek of Lake Vermilion, and a loving extended family.

Burial was in Oneota Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Bell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Patricia “Pat” Haburt
Patricia “Pat” Haburt, who graduated from Proctor High School in 1945, died Sun., June 4, 2000 in her Duluth home. She was 73.

Pat was born in Grand Forks, ND and lived most of her life in Duluth. Pat worked in the restaurant business for many years at Bridgeman’s and McCurdy’s restaurants.

She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church and a former member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.

Survivors include a daughter Deborah (William) Najjar of Saginaw and seven other daughters, three sons, a sister, 25 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Sat., June 10, in Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment will be in Oneota Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Bell Brothers.

Ann Christine Finn
Ann Christine Finn, who was born in her home in Proctor, graduated from its school and was a lifelong resident, died Tues., June 6, 2000 in a Duluth hospital. She was 88.

She graduated from Proctor High School in 1930 and was a member of Forbes United Methodist Church.

Ann liked to collect Toby mugs, stuffed animals, Teddy bears, plants and needlework.

Ann married William Finn Feb. 26, 1944. Before marriage, she traveled and lived in Washington, D.C. and Chicago.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1945, brothers Alfred, Jr. in 1965 and Roy in 1991, sisters Dorothy Rabideau in 1990 and Helen Peterson in 1995, and her identical twin Alphie Peterson in 1993.

She is survived by her sons Timothy S. “Tim” (Brenda) of Superior and Jeffery Wm. (Loretta) of Lewistown, Mont., brothers Carl (Evelyn) Peterson of Proctor and Richard (Carmen) Peterson of Little Falls, Minn., sisters Ruth (Gerald) Seeling of Grand Rapids and Mary Johnson of Springfield, Mo., six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Inurnment was in Sunrise Memorial Park.

Arrangements were made by Bell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Ruth Sarah Jugasek
Services will be today for Ruth Sarah Jugasek. She died Sun., June 11, 2000 in a Duluth hospital. She left us with a smile. Mrs. Jugasek was 72.

The Anchor Street resident was born on Dec. 5, 1927 in Duluth to Rudolph Z. and Grace Young Vokovan. She had been a lifelong Proctor area resident. Ruth had attended Denfeld High School. She had been an employee of Lakeside Plastics, Chroma Glo, J.J. Security and Graph Mark of Superior. Ruth married Joseph J. Jugasek on Dec. 26, 1953 in Virginia. She was a member of Proctor Women of the Moose Lodge No. 1302 and formerly attended Forbes United Methodist Church, Proctor. In earlier years, she was a member of the Denfeld High School orchestra and the Duluth Junior Symphony. Ruth enjoyed her children and grandchildren and traveling, especially to Las Vegas.

She was preceded in death by her father in Feb., 1939, mother in Feb., 1999, and her husband Joseph on June 14, 1994.

She is survived by her son Steven (Margaret) Jugasek of Brainerd, daughter Non (Rusty) Hendrickson of Duluth, brothers Rudolph (Irene) Vokovan of Madison, Wis. and Frederick Vokovan of Duluth, grandchildren Torri and Trent Hendrickson and Jon, Jeremy and Ross Hill, great-grandson Mathew, and step-children John (Sylvia) Jugasek of Monroe, N.C., Richard Jugasek of Duluth, Jane (Paul) Bergquist of Saginaw and their children and grandchildren.

Service will be at 11 a.m. today, Thursday, at Bell Brothers Chapel, 601 N. 56th Ave. W. Pastor Cooper Wiggen will be officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tim Jugasek, Jon Keye, Mickey Strongitharm, Mike Roberts, Rick Long, Paul Malknecht and Ray Larsen. Inurnment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, with her father. Arrangements were made by Bell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Stella J. Klosowsky
Stella J. Klosowsky, who lived in Proctor and owned the Hermantown General Store and Hermantown Lumber Company with her husband, died Mon., June 19, 2000 in a Duluth hospital. She was 84.

She was born in Fosston, Minn., to George and Olivia Ringstad Vigoren. She grew up and attended school in Fosston. She moved to Duluth in 1935, then moved to Proctor. She had been a Hermantown resident since 1945. Stella married Roy H. “Tip” Klosowsky on June 26, 1939 in Proctor. Stella was an avid flower gardener and a wonderful cook.

She was preceded in death by her husband Roy in 1988, brothers Elmer Vigoren and Joseph Vigoren, and sisters Clara Bourque, Gladys Christiansen and Esther Oberg.

She is survived by her daughter Ruby (Gust) Jenson of Menomonie, Wisc., a son Tony (Carolyn) Sandstrom and her children Christine, Lauren and Kara Sandstrom) Klosowsky of Hermantown, her brother Ole (Ruth) Vigoren of Fosston, a sister Evelyn Cunningham of Phoenix, Ariz., granddaughter Cara (Brian) Towers of Proctor, great-granddaughter Kadin Towers and her pet dog Bridget.

Graveside service was held Wed., June 21, in Hermantown Cemetery with the Rev. Marshall Moen officiating. Arrangements were made by Bell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Jean West Angst
Services were held last week for the mother of William Angst of Caribou Lake. Jean West Angst died Wed., Jan. 12, 2000 in a Duluth hospice. She was 84.

She was born in Des Moines, Iowa. She grew up in Port Huron, Mich. and married Robert Angst on Sept. 28, 1940, moving to Duluth in 1947. Jean worked at the Duluth Public Library until retiring in 1978.

She was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.

She is survived by a daughter, another son and four grandchildren.

Theresa H. Jedlicka
Joe Jedlicka of Saginaw is mourning the death of his mother, Theresa H. Jedlicka. She died Thurs., June 15, 2000 in Duluth. She was 90.

Theresa was born in Joliet, Ill. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Meadowlands.

Theresa is survived by another son, three daughters, her sister, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Interment was in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Elmer.

Frances A. Peterson
Services were held earlier this week for Frances A. Peterson. She died Sat., June 17, 2000 in Nopeming Nursing Home at the age of 93.

She was born in Lake Elizabeth, Kandiyohi County, Minn. and had lived in the Proctor area most of her life. She was employed for many years as a telephone operator, most recently for the city of Duluth in City Hall, retiring in 1972. She had been an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Proctor.

Survivors include daughters Nancy (Ken) Sutton of Lake Nebagamon, Wis. and Bette (David) Sather of Port Washington, Wis., a son Peter (Linda) Peterson of Gilbert, Minn., sisters Ethel Nelson of Marshall, Minn. and Orien Pearson of Duluth, a brother Orville (Evelyn) Larson of Red Wing, Minn., seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Burial was in Sunrise Memorial Park.

Arrangements were made by Bell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Bernice T. Eugenis
Tom Eugenis of Saginaw is saddened by the death of his mother, Bernice T. Eugenis. She died in Nopeming Nursing Home Tues., June 13, 2000. She was 80.

The Maple Grove Rd. resident was a lifelong area resident and a graduate of Denfeld High School. She worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. for 25 years before retiring.

She was a member of St. Benedict’s Church and the Telephone Pioneers.

She is survived by three other sons, three daughters, a brother, three sisters, 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Interment was in Calvary Cemetery.

Larry R. Johander
Larry R. Johander, who graduated from Proctor High School in 1967, died Fri., June 9, 2000 in his Duluth home. He was 51.

He was a lifelong area resident. He was a former employee at West End Iron and Metal and a member of First Church of God. He enjoyed golfing and stock car races.

He is survived by his father Leslie Johander of Duluth, his mother Lillian (David) Beran of Duluth, sons Corey Peterson of Grand Forks ND and Ryan Johander of Duluth, a sister Jan (Steve) Voltzke of Duluth, a grandson Corey, Jr. “C.J.” Peterson, nephews Brandon, Jeremy and Jonathan Voltzke, a niece Kristina Voltzke, a great-niece Hope Voltzke, and several aunts, uncles, other family and friends.

Burial was in Oneota Cemetery.
