Marie Masching, 82, of belview, died Thursday, July 20, 2000 at Rice Memorial Hospital, Willmar.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Our savior's Lutheran Church, Belview, with burial in the city cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Sunset Funeral Home, Echo, and will continue Monday one hour prior to services at the church. There will be a prayer service 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
She is survived by her children, George Jr. of Belview, Dorothy and husband John Zamzow of Morgan, Donald and wife Linda Masching of Woodbridge, Va., and Darla and husband Jeff Kimpling of Willmar; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister Irene Lenz of Lynwood, Wash.; sisters-in-law Charlotte Ziegler of New Ulm and Gertie and husband Paul Dietz of Echo; brother-in-law Herbert and wife Lillian Masching of Wahpotan, N. D.; and aunt Loida Froehlich of Redwood Falls.
She was preceded in death by her husband George; an infant son; parents; brothers, Carl "Chuck", Paul, Walter, and Harold; and numerous cousins.
She was born jan. 15, 1918 in Sheridan Township, redwood County, to Minnie (Froehlich) and Karl (Charley) Ziegler. She attended Landeer School District 103, Sheridan Township, and graduated from Redwood Falls High School in May 1936. She married George D. Masching on Sept. 11, 1938 in Sheridan Township. They lived at several places, including Svea until 1952, when they moved to rural belview. She was a member of Ladies Aid and Bethany Auxiliary, holding various offices. She also taught Saturday and Sunday School for 30 years. She was the church janitor for 15 years. In 1971, she took the job as church secretary. She was second cook at Belview School from 1962-1983, and was score keeper for volleyball games.

Ruth Dornfeld, 97, of Minneota, died Thursday, July 20, 2000 at Minneota Manor Health Care Center, Minneota.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church, Redwood Falls, with burial in Redwood Falls Cemetery.
She is survived by sons, Floyd and wife Leona Routhe of Morgan, Hal and wife Elaine Christiansen Routhe of St. Paul, Tom and wife Jo Routhe of New Hope, Don Routhe of Minneota, Chuck and wife Jean Routhe of Shoreview, and Roger Routhe of St. Paul; daughter Marilyn and husband Les Prellwitz of Minneota; 21 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister Verna and husband Gordon of Munson of Ames, Iowa; and step-daughters, Florence Nelson of Redwood Falls, and Lucille and husband Robert McGraw of Litchfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; brother Arthur and wife Easter Schafer of Hector; daughters-in-law Delores (Bousheck), and Helen (Mann); and step-daughter Norma Hansen.
She was born Nov. 13, 1902 in Renville County, to Gus and Mary (Zimmer) Schafer. She lived with her family on a farm in Renville County until moving to Redwood Falls. She graduated from Redwood Falls High School in 1922. She married Walter Routhe in 1924. They lived on a farm in Paxton Township until Walter's death in 1950. She married Frank Dornfeld in 1953. They were members of St. John's Lutheran Church, where she was active in ladies and quilting groups. After Frank died in 1970, she moved to Minneota, where she joined Hope Lutheran Church.

Roy E. Ruehling, 86, of Gaylord, died Friday, July 21, 2000 at Lakeview Home, Gaylord.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Gaylord, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Egesdal Funeral Home, Gaylord, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church Tuesday.
He is survived by his wife Lucille; children, Donna Trippel and husband Fred of Glencoe, David and wife Karen of Arlington, Linda Pjotter and husband Roger of Gaylord, and Gary and wife Diane of Grants Pass, Ore.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Orville and Edgar; and sister Adeline Haas.
He was born April 25, 1914 in Belle Plaine Township, Scott County, to Charles and Anna (Karnitz) Ruehling. He grew up in rural Belle Plaine. He married Lucille Otto on Nov. 29, 1939 in Belle Plaine. After their marriage, they lived and farmed in rural Belle Plaine. In 1948, they moved to the Gaylord area and continued farming. He moved to Gaylord Lakeview Home in 1997. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Gaylord.

Irene Thormodson, 68, of Madelia, died Friday, July 21, 2000 at Luther Memorial Home, Madelia.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Madelia, with burial in Linden Lutheran Cemetery, rural Madelia.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Monday at Pilgrim Funeral Home, Madelia, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church Tuesday.
She is survived by her husband Olav; sons, Craig and wife Romaine of Madelia, and Floyd and Yvette of Bradenton, Fla.; daughter Diane Thormodson of Mankato; seven grandchildren; brothers, Alvin and wife Virgene of Waterville, Clifford and wife Marie of Burnsville, and Gordon of New Ulm; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter; and two sons.
She was born Feb. 26, 1932 in Baron County, Wisc., to Arthur and Emelia (Roeker) Volkman. She grew up in the Amboy area, graduating from Amboy High School in 1951. She married Olav Thormodson on Nov. 29, 1953 in Vernon Center. They lived in rural madelia, where she operated Irene's & Things. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and served on the church council.

Cora Hahn, 89, or rural Gaylord, died Thursday, July 20, 2000 at Glencoe Ares Hospital, Glencoe.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, New Auburn, with burial in High Island Cemetery, New Auburn.
Visitation is 1-8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Monday at Egesdal Funeral Home, Gaylord, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church Monday.
She is survived by her son Earl of rural Gaylord; sisters-in-law Elfa Hillmann and Marie Hillmann, both of Arlington; adopted sons Gary Dietel of Glencoe and Tom Dietel of rural Gaylord; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and brothers, Ernie, Louis and Elford.
She was born Aug. 1, 1910 in New Auburn Township to Louis and Emma (Jopp) Hillemann. She married Arthur W. Hahn on May 25, 1932 in Arlington. They farmed the Hahn Homestead in New Auburn Township. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, New Auburn, and the ALCW. She moved to Glencoe Area Health Center in March 2000.

William Minnig, 61, of rural Milroy, died Saturday, July 22, 2000, at McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, S.D. of cancer.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bethany Lutheran Church, Wabasso, with burial in Tracy City Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Sunset Funeral Home, Wabasso, and will continue one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church. There will be a prayer service 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Ardyce; children, Ryan of Palm Springs, Calif., Jennifer of Duluth, John of St. Paul, and Tanya of Mounds View; mother, Catherine Mae of Tracy; brother, James and wife Mary Jane of Sioux Falls; and aunts, uncles, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra; and father Joseph.
He was born Sept. 20, 1938, in Heron Lake, Jackson County, to Joseph William and Catherine Mae (Hornickel) Minnig. He attended country school near Heron Lake and Windom High School. He moved to a farm near Milroy in 1959 with his parents. In 1961, he entered the U.S. Army, serving at Fort Carson, Colo.; Fort Sill, Okla.; Fort Bliss, Texas; and Fort Chafee, Alaska, working with the Honest John Missiles during the Cuban Crisis. He returned to the family farm near Milroy, where he farmed in partnership with his father until he retired in the 1970s. He also worked for Dave Hicks and other area farmers, and worked construction in the winter. He married Sandra Averill on April 6, 1974. She died Jan. 24, 1983. He married Ardyce (Werner) Balko on May 10, 1986. He served on Gales Township Board for several years, the board of directors of Tracy Ambulance Service, and as treasurer of Bethany Lutheran Church.

Charles Thulien, 77, of St. James, died Saturday, July 22, 2000, at Veterans Administration Hospital, Minneapolis.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, St. James, with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery, St. James.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Sturm Funeral Home, St. James, and will continue one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; sons, Bill and wife Gloria, and Jim, both of St. James; three grandchildren; sisters, Grace Fast of Kimball, Doris Wiens of Windom, and Darlene and husband Duane Harris of Courtland; brothers, Verne and wife Edna of St. James, and Robert and wife Dorothy of Sleepy Eye; sisters-in-law, Viola and Gloria, both of St. James; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Alden, LeRoy and Richard; and sisters, Viola Jensen and Annette Thompson.
He was born Feb. 17, 1922, in St. James, to Axel and Anna (Berggren) Thulien. He grew up on the family farm in Nelson Township. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a participant of the Burma Death March. He married Lorraine O'Brien on Sept. 24, 1950. They lived in St. James. He worked for Watonwan County Highway Department as a road foreman for over 30 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of the VFW Post 1914, St. Paul's Lutheran Church, and Watonwan Game and Fish Club.

Bonnie (Mrs. Richard) Fuller, 52, of Nicollet died Sunday, July 23, 2000 at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Church in North Mankato with burial in Green Hill Cemetery in St. Peter.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Nicollet and will continue for one hour before the service Wednesday at the church.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Fuller of Nicollet; mother, Alice Larson of Nicollet; daughters, Holly Fuller and Julie Fuller of Nicollet; mother-in-law, Dorothy Fuller of St. Peter; sisters and brother-in-law, Betty Freeman of Omaha, Nebr., Janet and Edgar Possin of Clarinda, Iowa; brother, Gene Starke of Lester Prairie; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ron and Judy Fuller of Chaska, Ken and Linda Fuller of Kasota, Gary Fuller of St. Peter, and Karen Fuller of Minneapolis, Lorin and Brenda Hahn of Jackson, Ohio, and Tony and Barb Wilmes of St. Peter.
She was preceded in death by her father, Adolph Starke in Jan. 7, 1966; father-in-law, Loren Fuller; and stepfather, Milton Larson; and a daughter in infancy.
She was born Sept. 23, 1947, in Mankato to Adolph and Alice (Schmid) Starke. She was a 1965 graduate of Nicollet High School. On Aug. 23, 1975, she married Richard Fuller in St. Peter. She worked for the ADC Telecommunications, and at Swensen Egg Production in Norseland. She had been working for Taytronics in St. Peter since 1992.

Robert Kuester, 89, of Fairfax died Sunday, July 23, 2000, at the Fairfax Community Home.
Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Wellington Township, Renville County with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Wellington Township, Renville County, and will continue one hour before the service Thursday at the church.
Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Orpha Kuester of Fairfax; daughters and sons-in-law, Lila and Clifford Black of Gibbon, LaVella and Oren Deterling of Fairfax; grandchildren, Glen Black, Bruce Black, both of Gibbon, Gary Black and his wife, Teresa of Estelline, S.D., Kay Klement and her husband, Ron of rural Gibbon; seven great-grandchildren,; sisters, Agnes Piotter of Sleepy Eye, Alvina Tallmann of St. Paul; brother-in-law, Arvid Peterson of Coleraine.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Meta Ulrich, Esther Peterson; and grandson, Brian Deterling.
He was born on Jan. 19, 1911, in Wellington Township, Renville County, to Herman and Augusta (Schultz) Kuester. He married Orpha Borth on Sept. 11, 1935, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon. They farmed in Wellington Township until 1962. They moved to Fairfax in February of 1963. He worked as a hired farm hand for Wilton and Robert Kiecker. He was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church where he was an elder.

Jerome Renner, 69, formerly of Stewart, died Sunday, July 23, 2000, at Glencoe Area Health Center.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Hutchinson with burial in the St. Matthew's Lutheran Cemetery in Fernando.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Hughes Funeral Home in Stewart and continues one hour before services Wednesday at the church.
He is survived by wife, Viola (Vi) Renner of Hutchinson; children and their spouses, Mark and Cyd Renner of Edgley, N.D., Julie and Mike Schweiss of Fairfax, Judy and Bill Grimm of Hector, Keith and Kathy Renner of Stewart; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; mother, Elsie Renner of Green Isle; brothers, Delmar and Muriel Renner of Clearwater, Fla.; Gary and Mary Renner of Winthrop; sister, Carol and Doug Block of Brownton; sisters-in-law, Sherry Renner of Cambria, Mildred Knick, Hazel and Richard Chycner of Winthrop, Edna and Greg Knoll of Elk River, Geraldine and Fred Trebelhorn of Winthrop, and Jeanette and Bill Trantham of Hamburg and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by father, John Renner Sr., brother, Thomas Renner; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rudolph and Gladys Rettmann and nephew Jeff Renner.
He was born Dec. 21, 1930, in Bismarck Township, Sibley County, to john W. and Elsie (Eitel) Renner. He grew up in McLeod County and attended District 70 school. He served in th Army during the Korean War, attaining the rank of sergeant. Upon his discharge in 1954, he returned to the Fernando area. He married Viola Rettmann on June 28, 1958, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon. They farmed west of Fernando. He was a member of the Round Grove Township Board. He served on St. Matthew's Church Council. He moved to Hutchinson in 1982, but continue to farm. He worked part-time at the Farmers Co-op Elevators and did road maintenance for Round Grove Township. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Hutchinson.

Jennifer Romero, 29, of Heron Lake, died Sunday, July 23, 2000, at the Windom Area Hospital.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Long Lake Lutheran Church of St. James, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Sturm Funeral Home in St. James, and at the church Wednesday, one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by her husband, Enrique of Heron Lake; daughters, Stephanie and Brianna; parents, Jerry and Lola Berdell of Odin; sister and brother-in-law, Tami and Todd Mickelson of St. James; brother, Troy of Odin; grandmother, Marie Berdell of Trimont; father-in-law, Efran Romero of Dodge City, Kansas; mother-in-law, Eloina Romero of Worthington; and several uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Elmer and Elsie Bretzman and John Berdell.
She was born Sept. 21, 1970, to Jerry and Lola (Bretzman) Berdell in St. James. She graduated from Butterfield-Odin High School in 1989. She studied sales and marketing at Willmar Technical College. She married Enrique Romero on Oct. 9, 1993, at St. James. She worked at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Windom and at a nursing home in Heron Lake.
