Eugene Groebner, 56, of Sleepy Eye, died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30-9:30 a.m. Thursday at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye. There will be a parish prayer service 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
He is survived by brother, Gerald of Sleepy Eye; sister, Lois of Mankato; niece, Jennifer of Alexandria; nephew, Greg of New Ulm; and aunts, Evelyn Mathiowetz and Veronica "Fronie" Groebner, both of Sleepy Eye.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was born Jan. 25, 1944, in Sleepy Eye, to Walter and Louise (Mathiowetz) Groebner. He grew up in Sleepy Eye and graduated from high school in 1961. He attended Mankato State University for two years before entering the United States Army. He served in the Army from January 1964 until January 1967. He returned to Sleepy Eye, where he worked at Del Monte. He worked at Dick's Skelly, and later bought the business, which he currently owned. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye.

Mary Schumacher, 91, of Milroy died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000, at Wabasso Health Care Center, Wabasso.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Wabasso. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Wabasso, with a a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
Sunset Funeral Home, Wabasso, is handling the arrangements.
She is survived by her children, William Schumacher and wife, Karla, of Algona, Iowa, Shirley Smith of Tulsa, Ok., Perry Schumacher and wife, Julie, of Milroy, James Schumacher of Newburgh, N.Y.; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, half-brothers, Raymond Ebnet of Benson, George Ebnet and wife, Esther, of Wabasso, Albert Ebnet and wife, Delores, of Springfield; sister, Caroline Welsch and husband, Fred, of Springfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1966, a daughter, four brothers and a sister.
Mary Bertha Schumacher was born Sept. 4, 1909, in New Avon Township, Redwood County, to Johanne and Franyiska (Shoettenbauer) Anton. She grew up in New Avon Township and attended country school. On Nov. 22, 1933, she married William Schumacher in Westline Township near Milroy in 1937. She moved to Milroy in 1977. She entered the Wabasso Health Care Center in 1994. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Milroy, and formerly a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, Wabasso.

Norbert Linsmeier, 78, of Fairfax, died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000, at Franklin Healthcare Center.
Services are 10:30 a.m. today at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Fairfax, with burial in the church Cemetery, with full military rites by the Fairfax Honor Guard.
Visitation is 7:30-8 a.m. today at Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel, Fairfax, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.
He is survived by his sons, Steven of Fairfax, Larry and wife Bonnie of Fairfax, James of Washington, D.C., and Richard of Blue Springs, Mo.; daughters, Brenda Frank and husband Curt of Fairfax, Connie Serbus and husband Victor of Franklin, Kathy of Redwood Falls, and Tammy of Minneapolis; 11 grandchildren; sisters, Adelia of St. Paul, Armella Kleman of Norwood Young America; brothers-in-law, Ron Bethke and wife Lynn of Sioux Falls, S.D., Tom Bethke and wife Audrey of Las Vegas, Nev.; sister-in-law, Lilly Linsmeier of Fairfax; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Herbert, Raymond, and Edward; sisters, Sister Mary Alvina Linsmeier, Rose Linsmeier, Laura Linsmeier, Lucy Schweiss, Val Pajewski, Mary Schroeder, and a sister in infancy; and brother-in-law Ken Bethke.
He was born Dec. 2, 1921, in New Ulm, to Frank and Mary (Klement) Linsmeier. He grew up in the Fairfax area, where he attended school. He entered the U.S. Marine Corps on May 16, 1945, and served during World War II and was discharged on Aug. 17, 1946. He married Betty Bethke on Feb. 26, 1951, in Gibbon. They lived in Gibbon for a short time, and in several other communities in the area prior to settling in Fairfax. He worked as a farmer, a mason, and a block layer. He worked with Bill Forbrook in Gibbon and George Wendinger in Fairfax. He retired in the 1980s. Betty died Oct. 28, 1985. He remained in Fairfax until May 29, 2000, when he moved to Franklin Healthcare Center. He was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Fairfax, and the Fairfax V.F.W.

Marvin Floyd Wagner, 49, of Butterfield died Sunday Sept. 17, 2000, at his home.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church, Butterfield with burial in Butterfield City Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. today at Sturm Funeral Home, St. James.
He is survived by his wife, Judy, of Butterfield; sons, Nathan and Tyler of Butterfield; daughter, Crystal of Butterfield; stepsons, Shannon and wife, Erin Sykes, of Butterfield, Matt and wife, Stacie Sykes, of St. James; two grandchildren; sisters, Dianne and husband, Jerome Lambert, of Delano, Marian and husband, Larry Rathman, of St. James; brothers, Dale and wife, Pattsy Wagner, of Monticello, Charles and wife, Lynn Wagner, of St. James; several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
He was born Feb. 22, 1951, in Redwood Falls to Edward and Sophie (Weseloh) Wagner. He graduated from St. Louis Park High School in 1970. He moved to St. James in 1972. He married Judy Cowell on Feb. 27, 1982, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in St. James. They lived in Butterfield. He was employed at Scherr-Tumico in the plating and woodshop, before taking a job in 1975 at Vandenburg Foods in Madelia. He worked there for 24 years until the business closed. He worked at Westin Automotive for the past year.

Roland 'Sonny' Glaser, 82, formerly of New Ulm, died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City.
Services were held Saturday at First Lutheran Church, Northwood.
Among his survivors are his wife, Anita of Northwood; sisters, Lila Ballman and Gloria Steinke of New Ulm; brother-in-law, Orville Strom of New Ulm; son, Jerome Glaser; daughters, Joan Perkins, Mary Bolton, Anita Reyerson, Erbin Anderson; brother, James Glaser; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Herbert, Joseph, Robert and Donald; and sisters, Marcella and Irene.
He was born May 4, 1918, in New Ulm to Joseph and Anna (Penkert) Glaser. He attended school in New Ulm and served in the U. S. Army. He married Anita Schwartz on July 2, 1937, in New Ulm.

Joe Landquist, 70, of Park Rapids, died Sept. 19, 2000, at the hospital in Park Rapids.
Services are Friday in Park Rapids.
Survivors include sons, Mike of Park Rapids, Pat of New Ulm; grandchildren, Jon, Matthew, Rachel and Dylan Landquist; and sisters, Barb and Kristen.
He was born and raised in New Ulm. He worked at the Kaiserhoff. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy. He had lived in Park Rapids for the past 30 years.

Bruce Meier, 44, of rural Lake Crystal, died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000 at home.
There will be a private family service, with burial at a later date.
He is survived by his mother; brothers, Greg and wife Annie of St. Peter, Boyd and wife Laura of Hanska; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and one brother.
He was born Jan. 26, 1956, in Mankato, to Martin "Pat" and Arlene (Halvorson) Meier. He graduated from Lake Crystal High School in 1974 and served in the U.S. Navy from 1974-1983. He was a member of John Roth American Legion Post 294.

Amy I. Isenberg, 100, formerly of Lafayette died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000, at the Sleepy Eye Care Center.
Services are 1 p.m. Saturday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm with burial in the Methodist Cemetery in Cornish Township, Sibley County.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Friday and 7:30 a.m. Saturday until time of the service.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, LaVerne "Vern" and Marilyn Isenberg of rural Winthrop; grandchildren, Carol Wilson of Lafayette, Linda Isenberg of Fairfax, Steven Isenberg and his wife, Joanne of rural Hutchinson, Thomas Isenberg and his wife, Lenora of rural Winthrop; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norman Isenberg on June 30, 1983; sisters, Mabel Johnson, Mary Swenson; and brothers, Reuben Jacobson, Elmer Jacobson, Wilbert Jacobson, Wallace Jacobson and John Jacobson.
She was born on Sept. 23, 1899, in Severance Township, Sibley County, to Frank and Emma (Holmquist) Jacobson. She married Norman J. Isenberg on Sept. 3, 1921, in Gibbon. They farmed in Cornish Township, Sibley County. She was a member of the former United Methodist Church in Lafayette where she had been organist and pianist.

Palmyre Friton, 89, of Waukesha, Wisc., formerly of Sleepy Eye, died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Faith United Methodist Church, Sleepy Eye, with burial in Home Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Saturday at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church Saturday.

Lloyd G. Knisley, 75, of 926 N. Franklin St., New Ulm, died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000 at the New Ulm Medical Clinic.
Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm City Cemetery Soldier's Rest Section. Full graveside military honors will be conducted by the New Ulm veterans organizations.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30 - 10 a.m. Saturday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Knisley of New Ulm; daughters and sons-in-aw, Sharon and Rodney Lunz of Mound, and Norma and Patrick Sagerhorn of Fergus Falls; sons and daughter-in-law, Steve Knisley of Bloomington and Larry and Patti Knisley of New Ulm; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister and brother-in-law, Blanche and Ben Serbus of Redwood Falls; brothers and sisters-in-law, Harry and Mabel Knisley of Perry, Iowa and Craten and Bernadine Knisley of Olivia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Irene Buchtel and Beatrice Swoboda; brothers, Albert Jr., William and John Knisley.
He was born May 10, 1925, in Olivia to Albert and Mary (Malecek) Knisley. He attended school in Olivia. He served in the United States Army in the Asian Theater from 1944 to 1946. He married Evelyn Mude on Sept. 24, 1947, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bechyn. They farmed in rural Morton for 12 years and then lived in Sleepy Eye for six years where he worked for the Sleepy Eye Creamery. They moved to New Ulm in 1964 where he worked for Public Utilities as a boiler operator. From 1968-1988, he worked as a boiler operator for the St. Peter State Hospital. He was a member of Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, American Legion Post 132 in New Ulm and VFW Post 1648 in New Ulm.

Maxene C. Bisher, 86, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000, at Valley View Manor, Lamberton.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Church of Christ in Lamberton with burial in the Lamberton Cemetery, Lamberton.
Visitation is 10-11 a.m. Monday at the Church of Christ in Lamberton.
Sturm Funeral Home, Lamberton handled arrangements.
She is survived by daughter Nancy Tordsen of Lamberton; grandchildren, Randy and Kathy Tordsen of Lamberton, Misty and Scott Pederson of Lamberton; three great-grandchildren; brothers Warren and Ollie Parker of Revere, Myron Parker of California; and a sister Betty Snyder of Tracy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl in 1983; brothers Donald Parker and Charles (Bud) Parker and sister, Orel Keith.
She was born Nov. 17, 1913, to Charles and Gertrude (Small) Parker on a farm near Revere. She attended country school and Lamberton High School. She married Earl Bisher on June 2, 1933. She was a member of Church of Christ in Lamberton, the Ladies Circle and the Green Thumb Garden Club.

Vera Dexheimer, 77, of St. James, died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000, at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center, St. James.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, St. James, with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery, St. James.
Visitation is one hour prior to services at the church.
Memorials are preferred to Good Samaritan Village, Mountain Lake.
She is survived by daughter, Karen and husband Roger Lorenz of Glendale, Ariz.; sons, Robert and wife Jackie of Anchorage, Alaska; Bradley and wife Clarice of Isle; three grandchildren; sister, Arlene Derksen and husband Alvin of Minneapolis; brother, Roland Joblinske and wife Virgene of St. James; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Gary; and brothers, Donald, Wilmar and Arnold Joblinski.
She was born April 29, 1923, in Truman, to William and Rose (Westman) Joblinske. She attended District 28 school in Watonwan County. She married Elmer Herman Dexheimer on Sept. 24, 1943, in St. James. She worked at Tony Downs Food, Hi-Way Cafe, Northside Cafe, and Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center. She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church and the VFW Ladies' Auxiliary.
