Gordon E. Anderson, 83, of Franklin, died Monday, Sept. 25, 2000, at Fairfax Community Home.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Franklin, with private family burial in the Franklin Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-8 a.m. Thursday at Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel, Fairfax, and will continue one hour prior to the time of services Thursday at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel; daughters, Carmen and Colleen, both of Buffalo, and Caroline and husband Greg Linden of Shorewood; sons, Blair and wife Louise, and Owen and wife Lori, all of Fairfax; nine grandchildren; sisters, Frances Coffin of Chicago, Pauline Boyum and husband Lyman of Trumbull, Conn., and Marie and Ruth, both of Minneapolis; and brother Corwin and wife Ruth of Spicer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Vernon; sisters, Emily Nyquist and Ruby Anderson; brothers-in-law, Glen Coffin and Morrie Nyquist; and sister-in-law Harriet Anderson.
He was born April 9, 1917, in Bandon Township, Renville County, to Emil C. and Albertina B. (Anderson) Anderson. He attended country school in Bandon Township and the School of Agriculture at the University of Minnesota, St. Paul. He grew some of the first hybrid corn in the area. He helped organize the Bandon 4-H club in 1930. He married Ethel M. Pederson on Nov. 19, 1949, in Franklin. They farmed in Bandon Township. They retired in 1979, and moved to Spicer, where they bought a home by Green Lake. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer, Spicer Senior Citizens, and Spicer Lions Club. They lived in Spicer 15 years, before moving back to Franklin. He was a member of Swedlanda Lutheran Church and St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Franklin, where he served as president and on different boards. He was a Sunday School teacher, treasurer and advisor for the Lutheran League. He served on the Renville County Livestock Breeders Association, and was a charter member of Franklin Lions.

William Ittel, 77, of Winthrop died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2000, at Glencoe Area Health Care-Long Term Care in Glencoe.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Faith United Church, Winthrop with burial in Winthrop Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Winthrop Honor Guard.
Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. Thursday and 8-9 a.m. Friday at Dalin-Hantge Chapel, Winthrop, and one hour prior to services at the church. There will be a Masonic Service at 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home chapel.

Emma 'Em' Keckstein, 92, of 516 4th North St., in New Ulm died Monday, Sept. 25, 2000, at her home.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the city cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. today and 7:30-10 a.m. Thursday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. St. Anne's Court NCSF No. 389 will pray the rosary at 6 p.m., and there will be a parish prayer service at 6:30 p.m. today at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.
She is survived by her daughter, Joleen Keckstein of New Ulm; son and daughter-in-law, Walter J. and Cleo Koester of New Ulm; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and sister-in-law, Alma Reinhart, a resident of the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Walter O. Koester on Dec. 25, 1930; her second husband, Joseph Keckstein on April 24, 1986; sister, Minnie Lueder; brothers, Andy, Frank, John, Joseph, and Alfred Braunreiter; brother-in-law, Alfred Koester; and sister-in-law, Elsie Anderson.
She was born Dec. 8, 1907, in Sleepy Eye to Carl and Mary (Brix) Braunreiter. She attended Milford Township Country School. On Jan. 28, 1935, she married Joseph Keckstein at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. She worked for the New Ulm Rural Telephone Company, Woolworth's Department Store and Herberger's in New Ulm until her retirement. She was a member of Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, St. Anne's Court NCSF No. 389 and German-Bohemian Society in New Ulm.

Donald Steinbach, 75, of Lompoc, died Monday, Sept. 18, 2000, at home.
Services are 1 p.m. Thursday at Chapel of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary, Lompoc, with burial in Riverside National Cemetery, Calif.
He is survived by long-time companion Alice Testa of Lompoc; sisters, Lorraine Kuykendall of Richland, Wash. and Mardy Kendall of Alta Loma, Calif.; brothers, Stanley of Orange, Calif., Kenneth of Lompoc, and Frank of New Ulm; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was born April 2, 1925, in Onamia, to Frank and Mary (Weber) Steinbach. He served in the U.S. Navy, retiring in 1963. He worked 17 years as a boiler tender for the Veterans Administration Hospital, St. Paul. He moved to Lompoc in 1980. He was a member of Lompoc Elks Lodge 2274, American Legion Post 211, VFW Post 1717, Navy Fleet Reserve, and the Valley of the Flowers Half Century Club.

Isabel Brede, 75, of the Halter Commons, 1915 North Spring St., New Ulm, died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2000 at her son's home in Carver.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in New Ulm with burial in the Winthrop Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m., Thursday and 7:30 to 9 a.m. Friday at the Firle Funeral Home in New Ulm as well as one hour prior to service at the Church.
Isabel is survived by her husband, Clarence, of New Ulm; daughters and sons-in-law, Joanne Isabelle and Darwin Berg of Chanhassen, Janet Louise and Henry Bausili of Arlington, Va.; one son and daughter-in-law David Craig and Lisa Muchow of Carver, five grandchildren and one greatgrandchild; her brother Donald and his wife, Lorna Hagg of Coquille, Ore., and two nieces, one nephew. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Isabel Violet Brede, the daughter of Victor and Viola (Maim) Hagg was born Oct. 24, 1924, at the family farm near Lafayette in Nicollet County. She graduated from Winthrop High School and married Elmer Muchow in October 1943, They farmed northeast of Winthrop in Sibley County. Isabel lived in Minneapolis, Mankato and New Ulm over the years and married Clarence Brede on June 3, 1967. They lived in Stewart until they moved to New Ulm. Isabel was employed at the Kaiserhoff restaurant in New Ulm for 31 years as a waitress and hostess. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and step-son Douglas.
he was born Sept. 3, 1923 in Mayer, to William O. and Wilhemina (Ehrenberg) Ittel. He attended grade school in gaylord and later graduated from Waconia High School. he served during World War II in the U.S. Coast Guard-Merchant Marines. He married Joyce Oakland on Sept. 18, 1976 in Winthrop. he worked at Moorman Manufacturing as a sales representative. he was a member of Faith United Church, Winthrop, the VFW, the American Legion, the Masonic Lodge, and the Shriners, all of Winthrop. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited.

Arthur H. 'Art' Maas, 84, of Rural Route 2, North Mankato, died Tuesday, Sept.26, 2000 at the Grandview Care Center in St. Peter.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet with burial in the church Cemetery, rural Nicollet.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Nicollet and then will continue on Friday for one hour prior to time of service at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Ida Maas, a resident of the Grandview Care Center in St. Peter; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Dick Lange of rural North Mankato; a son and daughter-in-law Donald and Judy Maas of rural Lake Crystal; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; a brother, Emil Maas, a resident of the Grandview Care Center in St. Peter; a sister-in-law Irma Summers and her husband Donald of North Mankato; and by nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson Derek Maas; sisters and brothers-in-law Sara and Alvin Martens, and Gert and Reinhart Zimmerman; a brother, Gabriel Maas; a sister-in-law Esther Maas; and by nieces and nephews.
He was born Dec. 29, 1915 in Nicollet Township, Nicollet County to Carl and Margaret (nee Meurer) Maas. Heattended country school in Nicollet Township. On April 12, 1939 he married Ida Schroeder at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet. After marriage they farmed in Belgrade Township, Nicollet County, until the early 1980s when they retired but continued to live on the farm.
He was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet and had been a past member of the church council. He had been a resident of the Grandview Care Center for the past eight months.

Eleanor V. Hill Morisse, 89, of Belle Plaine, died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2000, at The Lutheran Home, Belle Plaine.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, at Oakwood Methodist Church, New Ulm, with burial in the City Cemetery. An Eastern Star ritual service will occur at church immediately after the service.
Bruzek Funeral Home of New Prague handled arrangements.
Visitation is one hour prior to services at the church Thursday.
She is survived by daughters, Karen S. and husband Ronald Hanseter of Neenah, Wis., and Nicole S. and husband Patrick Eckstein of Madison Lake; sister-in-law, Ardell Brezina of Cambridge, Wis.; sisters, Peggy and husband William Pielou of Greenville, S.C., Kathryn White of Rockford, Ill.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Lyle W. Hill and Levi Morisse; parents; brother, Joseph Brezina; and sisters, Hazel Boyd, Helen Pitts, Frances Thornton, Marion Brezina, and Mildred Sinn.
She was born April 7, 1911, in Chicago, to Joseph and Marie Ann (Nemec) Brezina. She attended school in Chicago and Michigan. She married Lyle W. Hill on Oct. 15, 1932, in Valpariso, Ind. The couple moved to Elmira, N.Y. They later lived in Chicago, Freeport, Ill., and Beaver Dam, Wis. They moved to New Ulm in 1955. Lyle died in March 1968. She worked at Osters and Tachtronics, New Ulm. She married Levi Morisse in September 1979 in Stockton, Ill. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Reuben K. Nordby, 79, died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2000, at his home.
Services are 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Zion Lutheran Church in Odin with burial in the church cemetery with military honors by the Donald Larson Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9607 of Butterfield.
Visitation is 7-9 p.m. Saturday at Kramer Family Funeral Home, Trimont; and continues one hour before the services Sunday at the church.
He is survived by his wife, LaVera Nordby of Odin; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Cris Nordby of Odin; grandchildren, Zachariah, Chatrina and Michaela Nordby; and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Lyal, Donald and Norman.
He was born Sept. 24, 1921, in Odin Township, Watonwan County, to Roy and Selma (Hanson) Nordby. He attended rural school. He served in the U.S. Army from May 1945 to November 1946. He worked as a truck driver for Holtz Trucking in Triumph. He married LaVera Breitbarth on Feb. 22, 1948, in Triumph. They farmed in the Odin area. After retirement, he worked as Odin Park supervisor. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Odin where he ushered and was janitor. He belonged to the Donald Larson Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9607 and served on its board.

Joyce Marquardt, 74, of Arlington, formerly of Hanska, died Thursday, Sept. 28, 2000, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Zion Lutheran Church, Hanska, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 1-3 p.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, Arlington, and 5-8 p.m. Saturday at Firle Funeral Home, Hanska. Visitation will continue one half hour prior to services at the church Sunday.

Joyce Marquardt, 74, of Arlington, formerly of Hanska died Thursday, Sept. 28, 2000 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital.

She is survived by a sister-in-law, Virginia Blackstad of Hanska; nephews, Craig Blackstad and wife Brenda, and Denny Blackstad, all of Hanska; a niece Deb and husband Bruce Johnson of Willmar; grandnieces and nephew, Hali and Kasi Johnson, and Sadie and Craig Blackstad.
She is preceded in death by her husband Pete Vee; a brother, Clayton; and parents.
She was born June 6, 1926 in Riverdale Township, Watonwan County, to Albert and Clara (Christensen) Blackstad. She graduated with honors from Hanska High School in 1944 and then attended college in the Twin Cities area. She married Pete Vee in 1953 in Minneapolis. She later moved to Hanska, where she worked at Hanska Elevator as a bookkeeper. After her husband died in 1959, she remarried and moved to Arlington and worked at Arlington Elevator as a bookkeeper until the 1980s. She worked at Young America Corporation until shortly before her death. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Arlington, and Arlington Ladies Aid. She was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church, Hanska.

Florence Heil, 88, died Thursday, Sept. 28, 2000, at the Burns Manor Nursing Home in Hutchinson.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. John's Catholic Church in Hector, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Sunday at the Hughes Funeral Home in Hector, with a prayer service at 5 p.m. Visitation continues one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.
She is survived by her son, Eugene Heil of Hutchinson; grandchildren Bonnie and Rick Kral of Hutchinson; Steve and Kathie Heil of Golden Valley, Catherine Heil of Eau Claire, Wis., James and Terrie Heil of New Ulm, Nancy and Steve Fangmeier of Hutchinson and Charles and Kathy Heil of Silver Lake; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a brother Phil and wife Dorothy Heil of Alexandria; sisters, Leona Laffen of Underwood and Marie McCarthy of Riverside, Calif., and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Bob; a sister Rose and her daughter-in-law Carol Heil.
She was born March 10, 1912 in Mankato to Joseph and Florentine (Prybylla) Heil. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith. She grew up in Mankato until moving to Hector. She attended the Bird Island Parochial School.
She worked at the Kaplan's and Coast-to-Coast stores in Hector. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Hector.
