Richard W. Guggisberg, 65, of 1205 S. Jefferson St. in New Ulm, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield.
Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm. Military honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the New Ulm veterans organizations.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-10 a.m. Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.
He is survived by his wife JoAnn Guggisberg of New Ulm; daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Brad Franta of New Ulm; sons and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Michelle Guggisberg of rural New Ulm, Dale Guggisberg of Madison Lake, and Ryan Guggisberg of Mankato; grandchildren, Kyle, Tyler and Adam; sisters and brothers-in-law, Florence and Clarence Mohr and Esther and Ralph Schaefer, all of New Ulm, Marion and Kenneth Havemeier of Fairfax; brothers and sisters-in-law, Melvin and Dorothy Guggisberg of New Ulm, Wallace and Louise Guggisberg of rural Winthrop, and Robert and JoAnn Guggisberg of New Ulm.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother Harold Guggisberg.
He was born Dec. 9, 1934, in New Ulm to Louis and Viola (Boettger) Guggisberg. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957. He married JoAnn Schmidt on Sept. 11, 1962, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Searles. They farmed in Sigel Township, Brown County, until moving to New Ulm in 1997. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, St. Joseph's Catholic Aid Council and St. John's Court of the Catholic Order of Foresters.

Lyle Rasmussen, 83, formerly of Redwood Falls, Lamberton, Tracy and Walnut Grove, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000, in the Veterans Home in Luverne.
A memorial service is set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne with burial and graveside services at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Lamberton Cemetery.
Sunset Funeral Home of Echo is handling arrangements.
He is survived by his sister Eldonna Kruger of Rosepine, La.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl and Grace of Buffalo and Byron and Betty of Madison, Wis. and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was born Aug. 7, 1917, to Carl Frederick and Mary Maria (Smith) Rasmussen in Lamberton. He attended Lamberton Public Schools. He pitched for the Lucan softball team that won many titles. He joined the U.S. Army in 1942, serving as a medic with the 45th Thunderbird Division in Europe. He was awarded the bronze star. After military service, he returned home and then bought and sold furs before moving to St. Paul where he worked for a lumber yard.

James Selle, 76, of rural Clements, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital, Mankato.
Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Clements, with burial in the church Cemetery, with full military honors.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Friday with a prayer service at 6 p.m. and rosary at 6:30 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, Redwood Falls; continues one hour before services Saturday at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Jane, of Clements; son, Dennis of Clements; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Joan Lindberg of Florida and Patricia and Robert Bisher of Henderson; brother, Luellen "Bud" Sell of Daly City, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Leroy and Richard.
He was born July 19, 1924, in Redwood Falls to Pete and Veronica (Sicora) Sell. He attended country school and Springfield High School. He married Jane Weseloh on July 10, 1945, in Morton. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1946-47, in San Diego, Calif. He returned home and farmed the family farm and managed the Clements liquor store before retiring in 1990. He entered the Springfield nursing home in 1993. He belonged to St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the American Legion in Clements.

Alma Weber, 80, died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2000, at her home.
She is survived by a son, Ronald, of Olathe, Kan.; two grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Evelyn and Don Hellickson of Sanborn, Nita and Eugene Schmid of New Ulm; brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul Wendland, Marvin and Viola Weber of Jeffers, Raymond and Irene Weber of Sanborn, Lester and Madlyn Weber of Winthrop; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband on May 2, 1999; and sisters, Velma Frost and Erma Kennon of Arkansas.
She was born Sept. 23, 1920, in Dennard, Ark. She lived in Arkansas and Kansas, graduating from Clinton High School, Clinton, Ark. She worked as a ship builder for Kaiser Liberty Ship in California during World War II. She also worked as an assembler for King Radio. She married Orville "Archie" Weber on Jan. 22, 1955, in De Soto.

Emery Forbrook, 88, of Morgan, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000, at Gil-Mor Manor, Morgan.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Nelson Funeral Home, Morgan, with burial in the Morgan City Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Thursday and an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
He is survived by children, Dick and Jeri of Morgan, David and Marlys of Maple Grove, and Shirley and Dallas Krengel of New Ulm; nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grand daughter, Kelly.
He was born May 5, 1912, in Eden Township, Brown County, to August and Anna (Beilke) Forbrook. He attended District 34 country school. He worked on the family farm for 45 years. He retired and moved to Morgan. He lived at Gil-Mor Manor the past four years. He belonged to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Morgan Sportsmen's Club.

Ernest Werner, 86, of Wabasso, died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000, at the Wabasso Health Care Center.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Willow Lake Township, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Saturday at Redwood Valley Funeral Home, Redwood Falls, and at the church Sunday, one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie; children and their spouses, Diane and Leroy Rucktaeschel of Morris, Roger and Joyce of Wabasso, Gayl of Eagle, Ernie of Wabasso, Jeanine and Jim Nelson of Woonsocket, S.D., Renee and Roger Eichten of Eagan and and Bonnie and Steve Kersting of Lakeville; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lillie Fennern and Edna Krueger; and a grandson.
He was born July 19, 1914, in New Avon Township, to William and Augusta (Schwartz) Werner. He attended school in New Avon Township. He married Elsie Krueger on June 10, 1936, in Willow Lake Township. He was a church elder and trustee and served on the District 7 School Board.

Mary Goehl, 78, of Green Isle, died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, at Arlington Municipal Hospital.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Green Isle with burial in Arlington Public Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7:45 p.m. at Fenske Funeral Home, Arlington, and at the church Sunday, one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by her husband, Harold of Green Isle; a sister and brother-in-law, Anne and Louis Herrmann of Belle Plaine; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike and Betty of Belle Plaine, John (Joe) and Betty of Green Isle, and Mary Ann and Stella Wagner, both of Belle Plaine; a brother and sister-in-law, Bud and Audrey Goehl of Arlington and nieces and nephews.
She was born Oct. 19, 1922 in Murdock to Anton and Anna (Commerford) Wagner. She attended eight years of parochial school. She married Harold Goehl Dec. 22, 1961 in Algona, Iowa. She worked at Dottie's Cafe in Belle Plaine for many years.

Darrell Schuette, 61, of Gaylord, died Friday, Oct. 27, 2000, at Glencoe Regional Health Services.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Mountville, rural Gaylord, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday, at the Fenske Family Funeral Home, Gaylord; and at the church Monday, one hour prior to the service. There will be a prayer service at 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home
He is survived by his wife Darlene, of Gaylord; sister and brother-in-law, Marvanna and Lynnis Kettner of Winthrop; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edwin and Allina Laabs of Winthrop; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Wayne Laabs of Winthrop and Lois and LeRoy Winter of Arlington; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was born May 31, 1939 in Gaylord to Alvin and Dorothea (Ehrenberg) Schuette. He graduated from Concordia High School, St. Paul, in 1957. He married Darlene Laabs on Aug. 1, 1961 in rural Gaylord. He farmed in Transit Township and sold Dekalb Seed Corn until retiring in 1991. He was a Sunday school teacher and superintendent, and a church elder, secretary and on the cemetery board. He was also a Transit Township supervisor.

Ralph V. Youngman, 74, of St. Peter, died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000 at his residence.
Mass of The Ressurection will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 2 at First Lutheran Catholic Church, St. Peter with burial in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Sleepy Eye at 2:30 p.m.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the church and Thursday at the church, one hour prior to the service. A Knights of Columbus rosary will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice; daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and Scott Mayhew of Rochester; two grandchildren; a sister, Kathleen Kuester of Grundy Center, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Virginia Youngman of Centuria, Wis.; and three nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Frederick "Fritz," and brother-in-law, Delbert Kuester.
He was born Dec. 3, 1925 in Mankato to Frederick and Kathryn (Trampert) Youngman. He attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Sleepy Eye before leaving to join the U.S. Navy at age 17. He returned to St. Mary's and graduated in 1947. He graduated from Mankato Business College in 1949. He worked for Hallett Construction in St. Peter, then Seitzer Ford in St. Peter. He married Bernice Simning on June 19, 1954 in Wabasso. He retired in 1986. He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, having held all offices; member of the LeCenter American Legion; active in the Church of St. Peter as a Eucharist Minister, reader and usher; and a volunteer at St. Peter Community Hospital and Health Care Center.

Tricia Lynn Austad, 24, of St. Joseph died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, at St. Cloud Hospital, St. Cloud from complications of Rett Syndrome.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Burial will be in New Ulm Catholic Cemetery, New Ulm at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Daniel Funeral Home in St. Joseph. There will be a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is in charge of local arrangements.
Austad is survived by her parents, Lyle and Lynn (Niehoff) Austad of St. Joseph; two brothers, Christopher and wife, Melissa Austad of Overland Park, Kan., and Jacob and wife, Gina Austad of Santa Rosa, Calif.; a nephew, Zachary; and also by her maternal grandparents, Jim and Mary Ann Niehoff of New Ulm.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Carl and Leona Austad.
Tricia Austad was born Sept. 9, 1976, in New Ulm, daughter of Lyle and Lynn (Niehoff) Austad.
She lived in the St. Louis, Mo., area until 1996, when she moved to the St. Cloud area. She was a pioneer in the "In Step" program in the St. Cloud area. She also was employed at the WACOSA the last one and a half years at the downtown St. Cloud location.
Memorials are preferred to the International Rett Syndrome Association.

Jerome W. Juenemann, 74, of Springfield died Oct. 27, 2000, at his farm home in Northstar Twp., Brown County.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Raphael's Catholic Church, Springfield. Burial will be in St. Raphael's Catholic Cemetery, Springfield.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday and 7:30-10 a.m. Tuesday at Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield. There will be a Parish Prayer Service at 7 p.m. Monday at Sturm Funeral Home and Men's Rosary at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Raphael's Catholic Church.
He is survived by his brothers, Ralph and Willard Juenemann of Springfield; sisters, Dolores and husband, Ervin Platz of Springfield, Marilyn King of Estherville, Iowa, Rosemary and husband, Norbert Ochs of Walker; sister-in-law, Phyllis Juenemann of Springfield; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Gerald and Delbert, a sister, Irene Groebner and two nieces.
Jerome Juenemann was born Oct. 18, 1926, in Northstar Twp., Minn., son of Oscar and Barbara (Hillesheim) Juenemann. He attended county school in Northstar Township, District 56 and helped his father and brothers on the family farm. He entered the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War.
After his discharge, he worked at Ebenhoh Body Shop in Sleepy Eye from 1968 to 1981, continuing to help on the family farm. Following an accident his father suffered in 1985, he returned to help on the farm. He was a member of the John Watson American Legion Post 4257 and a lifetime member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church.

Robert H. 'Bob' Portner, 77, of 1819 North Garden Street in New Ulm died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000 at the New Ulm Medical Center.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service at 6 p.m. and the St. Joseph Catholic Aid Society Council will pray the rosary at 7 p.m., both Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Robert is survived by his wife, Georgine "Jean" Portner of New Ulm; daughters, Debra Blesz of Sugar Creek, Mo., and Janey Portner Martin of Holland, Mich.; sons and daughter-in-law, Tom and Diane Portner, and John Portner all of New Ulm, and Jim Portner and his special friend Jeanne Sumner of St. Louis, Mo.; nine grandchildren; one great granddaughter; sisters and brothers-in-law, Loretta and Linus Krzmarzick of New Ulm, Marie Sprenger of New Ulm, Betty and John Gleisner of Hackensack, Marcella and William Doyle of Ravensdale, Wash., and Doris and Al Drage of Evan; a sister-in-law, Sharon Portner of Phoenix, Ariz.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Harry and Arleen Portner, Erwin and Elsie Portner, and Norbert and Elizabeth Portner all of New Ulm.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Bernice Portner; brother, Dennis Portner; a grandson in infancy; and a brother-in-law, Donald Sprenger.
Bob was born Oct. 26, 1923 in Milford Township, Brown County to Edward H. and Mary (Ubl) Portner. He attended District #9 Country School and later New Ulm Public High School. On Oct. 3, 1950 he married Georgine "Jean" Meyer at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm. After marriage they farmed in Milford Township, Brown County from 1950-1968. In 1968 they moved into New Ulm were he worked for 3M in Quality Control in New Ulm. He retired in 1986. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity and the St. Joseph Catholic Aid Council both in New Ulm.

Leonard Ubl, 65, of Mankato died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, at Methodist Hospital in Rochester.
Services will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Mankato. Burial will be in Woodland-Hills Memorial Park.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today, with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service, all at Mankato Mortuary. Visitation continues one hour before services at the church Tuesday.
Survivors include his wife, Charlene UbI of Mankato; daughters, Karen Cooper of Mankato, Nancy Lyons and husband, Tim of Belle Plaine, Jeanne Hassing and husband, David of Mankato; seven grandchildren; two step grandchildren; one great-grandson; three great-step grandchildren; a brother, Norbert and Betty Ubl of New Ulm; a sister, Dolores Reinarts and husband, Marvin of New Ulm; sisters-in-law, Beverly Ubl of New Ulm, Bernice Sperl of New Ulm, Betty Dorn and husband, Doug of Mankato, Doris Steinkopf of Fargo, N.D.; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, a son-in-law, a sister, and a brother.
Leonard Ubl was born Aug. 20, 1935, son of William and Anne (Zeug) Ubl in New Ulm. He attended grade school in Searles and graduated from Cathedral of the Holy Trinity High School in New Ulm. He married Charlene Tischer on June 26, 1954, in New Ulm. They moved to Mankato in 1956.
On Oct. 13, 2000, he celebrated 45 years of employment at Jones Metal Products. He was a member of the Mankato Temple of Labor Association for many years. He was a member and Eucharistic Minister at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Aid Society of Cathedral in New Ulm.
Memorials are preferred to School Sisters of Notre Dame, Schola Foundation, SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church or to an organization of the donor's choice.

David Dallmann, 36, of Redwood Falls, died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000, at his home.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at United Methodist Church, Redwood Falls, with burial in the Redwood Falls Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Nelson Funeral Home, Redwood Falls, and at the church Friday, one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by his wife, Alice, of Redwood Falls; sons, Steven and Andrew Kish at home; a brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Peg of Willmar; sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl and Rick Hayes of Gresham, Ore.; nieces and nephews; mother, Zandra of Lewiston, Idaho; father-in-law, Lloyd Wilkerson of Springfield; and mother-in-law, Sharron Holt of Riverton, Wyo.
He was preceded in death by his father, Norman, in 1986.
He was born April 10, 1964, in Redwood Falls, to Norman and Zandra (Sell) Dallman. He graduated from Redwood Falls High School in 1982. He married Alice (Wilkerson) Kish on July 4, 1998, in Riverton, Wyo. They lived in Redwood Falls. He worked for Schweiss Distributing of Fairfax.
