Agnes Schroepfer, 97, a resident of the Sleepy Eye Care Center and formerly of New Ulm, died Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000, at the Sleepy Eye Care Center.
Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm, visitation will continue one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday. The Christian Mothers Society of New Ulm will pray the rosary at 4 p.m. today at the Cathedral. The Christian Mothers Society of Sleepy Eye will pray the rosary at 4 p.m., and there will be a parish prayer service at 6 p.m. today at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.
She is survived by her daughter, Irene Richert of Hendersonville, N.C.; a son, Gerald E. Schroepfer and his wife Arlene of rural Sleepy Eye; 14 grandchildren; and 44 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Frieda Haas of Sleepy Eye, and Angie Sturm of Springfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norbert Schroepfer on May 13, 1984; brothers, Leo Rubey and Henry Rubey; granddaughter, Sandy Sellner in June of 1998; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
She was born Jan. 20, 1903, in Stark Township, Brown County to Anton and Mary (Petinzer) Rubey. She attended Iberia Country School and St. Mary's High School in Sleepy Eye. On Sept. 11, 1923, she married Norbert Schroepfer at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. After marriage they farmed in Sigel Township, Brown County for 30 years. They moved into New Ulm in 1953, and she lived there until moving to the Countryside Apartments in Sleepy Eye in 1995. She became a resident of the Sleepy Eye Care Center in July of 1998. She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye and the Christian Mothers societies in Sleepy Eye and New Ulm. She was a former member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm.

Letitia Beech, 92, of New Brighton, formerly of Sleepy Eye, died Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, at Innsbruck Health Care Center, New Brighton.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Union Congregational United Church of Christ, Sleepy Eye, with burial in Home Cemetery, Sleepy Eye.
Visitation is 9-10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye.
She is survived by her daughter, Beth Hembd and husband Joseph of Coon Rapids; grandchildren, Gregory of Phoenix, Nancy of Randall, Iowa, James of Richfield and Jean of Boone, Iowa; 14 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister LaDonna.
She was born April 16, 1908, in Prairieville Township, Brown County, to Charles and Isabell (Garrioch) Palmer. Her family moved from the farm to Sleepy Eye, where she attended school. She attended Normal School and taught in country school. She married Oren R. Beech on Nov. 29, 1928, in Sleepy Eye. They lived in New Richland until moving to Sleepy Eye in 1938. They moved to Bloomington in 1945, where they started a plastic business. She was a member of Union Congregational United Church of Christ and the Order of the Eastern Star, Sleepy Eye.

Marilyn Schneider, 64, of 108 S. Franklin St., New Ulm, died Monday, Nov. 20, 2000 at her home.
Mass of Christian burial is 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday and 7:30-9 a.m. Saturday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
She is survived by her husband, Doyle Schneider of New Ulm; sons and daughters-in-law Mark and Chelito Schneider of Virginia Beach, Va., Scott and Samantha Schneider of St. Cloud and Keith and Jenni Schneider of Northfield; grandchildren, Kristen, Cameron, and Olivia; and sister and brother-in-law, Geri and Frank Pehrson of rural St. Peter.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She was born July 31, 1936, in St. Peter to Melville and Genevieve (Schmit) Miller. She attended grade school in St. Peter and graduated from Nicollet High School in 1954. She married Doyle L. Schneider on March 22, 1958, in Mankato. She worked for Dr. Hamann for a few years and also sold Avon products. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm.

Dolores Plaatz, 83, of Springfield died Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, at the Springfield Medical Center in Springfield.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield, with burial in St. Raphael's Catholic Church Cemetery in Springfield.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday and 7:30-10 a.m. on Saturday at the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield. There will be a parish prayer service 7:30 p.m. Friday at Sturm Funeral Home and a St. Anne's CCW and St. Monica's at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Raphael's Church.
She is survived by her husband Ervin of Springfield; a son Gilbert and Helen Platz of Waskish, a daughter, Marlys Platz of Springfield; two grandsons; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Ralph and Willard Juenemann of Springfield; sisters, Marliyn King of Estherville, Iowa, Rosemary and Norbert Ochs of Walker; and a sister-in-law, Phyllis Juenemann of Springfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Gerald, Delbert and Jerome,and a sister, Irene Groebner.
She was born Aug. 14, 1917 in North Star Township to Oscar and Barbara (Hillesheim) Juenemann. She attended Dist. 56 country school. Following school she worked for the Henry Platz family until marriage.
She married Ervin Platz at St. Raphael's Catholic Church on Feb. 28, 1937 in Springfield.
Following marriage, she and Ervin continued to live in North Star Township on the Platz homestead, where they farmed until retirement.
She was a lifetime member of St. Raphael's Church, a long term member of St. Anne's CCW and St. Monica's Catholic Order of Foresters. She also worked with the St. Raphael's craft ladies doing quilting.

Robert Frauendienst, 85, of Gaylord, died Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, at the Heritage House, Gaylord.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, New Auburn, with burial at High Island Cemetery, New Auburn.
Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until services Friday at the church.

James 'Jim' W. Schlumpberger, 61, of 1118 S. Franklin St., in New Ulm died Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, at the New Ulm Medical Center.
Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the Catholic Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by New Ulm veterans organizations.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday and 7:30-10 a.m. Saturday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a combined rosary by the National Catholic Society of Foresters and the St. George Catholic Aid Council at 6:30 p.m., and there will be a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.
He is survived by his wife, Marlys Schlumpberger of New Ulm; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Curt Kormann of New Ulm; sons and daughters-in-law, Dean and Kimberly Schlumpberger, and Craig and Heidi Schlumpberger all of New Ulm; grandchildren, Aaron and Jason Schlumpberger, and Kendra Kormann; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Harvey Fruhwirth of rural New Ulm; and brother-in-law, Tom Franta and his wife, Dianne of rural New Ulm.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Jerome Schlumpberger in infancy.
He was born Dec. 11, 1938, in New Ulm to Henry and Lauretta (Ries) Schlumpberger. He attended Cathedral High School. He served in the National Guard from 1956 to 1964. On May 14, 1958 he married Marlys Franta at St George Catholic Church, West Newton Township, Nicollet County. They farmed in West Newton Township, Nicollet County. He worked for Hoffmann Construction in New Ulm, and for West Newton Township, grading roads and plowing snow. He was a member of Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, National Catholic Society of Foresters, St. George Catholic Aid Council, and a past member of the St. George Catholic Church in West Newton Township, Nicollet County.

Christian L. Teigum, 69, of rural Madelia, died Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, at his home in rural Madelia.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Madelia, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Pilgrim Funeral Home in Madelia and also one hour prior to the services at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Norma; a daughter Terri and husband Bob Helland of New Ulm; one son Thor and wife Natalie of Madelia; four grandchildren ; one great-grandson; a brother Albert (Bob) Teigum and wife of Madelia; a sister-in-law Marion Teigum of Madelia; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Timothy and a brother, David.
He was born Aug. 29, 1931 to Albert and Lettie (Kjorlaug) in Madelia.
He grew up in Lincoln Township and graduated from Lake Crystal High School in 1949. He attended Augsburg College in Minneapolis.
He married Norma Kelley on June 9, 1951 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Madelia. They farmed in rural Madelia. In later years he also worked part time as a bus driver at the LaSalle Farmers Grain Company and as a statistician for the USDA.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served on the church council, taught Sunday School and served as youth director. He also served on the Minnesota and National Soy Bean Board.

Ethel Dungey, 85, of Springfield, formerly of Lamberton, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000 at St. John Lutheran Home, Springfield.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. today at the Sanborn United Methodist Church, with burial in Sanborn City Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service today at the church.
Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield, is handling arrangements.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sylvia and Arden Trandahl of Spearfish, S.D.; sons and daughters-in-law, Len and Sandi Wersal of Oakdale and Ray and Sharon Wersal of St. Paul; 13 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild; sisters and brothers-in-law, Gladys Burns of Springfield, Helen and Erv Kaseforth of Springfield, Esther and Norman Foy of Sanborn, Arlene and Glen Dammann of Sanborn, Mary and Gary Raitz of Brooklyn Park, and Delores and Don Hogan of Sanborn; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Henry Wersal and Willard Dungey, and a grandson, David Farrington.
She was born July 17, 1915 in Terri, Iowa to Floyd and Rose (Kallsen) Simpson. She moved with her family to Rozet, Wyo. and later to Minnesota. She married Henry Wersal in 1933. She married Willard Dungey Jan. 23, 1957 in Spirit Lake, Iowa. They owned the Lamberton Motel. She lived in Lamberton until moving to Springfield several years ago. She belonged to the Sanborn United Methodist Church.

Edwina H. Kiecker, 84, of Fairfax died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000 at the New Ulm Medical Center.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Emanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church WELS, Wellington Township, rural Fairfax, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held 4-8 p.m. today at the church and will continue Saturday at 11 a.m. until the time of service. Arrangements have been made with Hughes Funeral Home of Hector.
She is survived by her husband Victor Kiecker of Fairfax; children, Ronald and his wife Virginia "Ginger" Kiecker of Hendersonville, Tenn., Gerald M.W. and wife Lorraine Kiecker of Augusta, Kan., and Douglas and Barb Kiecker of Fairfax; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers Arnold and wife Genevieve "Gin" Polesky of Rochester, Edwin and wife Dorothy Polesky of Sleepy Eye, Wilbert Polesky of Hector and Emmanuel Polesky of Hector; sisters Evangeline and husband Linus Madsen of Morgan and Eveline Drill of Courtland; a sister-in-law, Mary Polesky of Roseville and Lois Kiecker of Fairfax; a brother-in-law, Laurence and wife Merlyn Kiecker of Fairfax and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Maynard Polesky, Rev. Bernhardt Polesky and Walden Polesky, and her sister Lorraine Polesky.
She was born Aug. 21, 1916, in rural Hector to Hugo and Hildagard (Buboltz) Polesky. She grew up in rural Sleepy Eye where she attended country school. She graduated from the Buffalo Lake High School and continued her education at the Mankato Normal College. After receiving her teaching certificate she taught school in Morgan, Buffalo Lake and Gibbon School Districts.
She married Victor E. Kiecker on June 30, 1942, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hector. They lived on the Kiecker family homestead in Wellington Township where they farmed. Edwina worked at the Ceramic Tile Factory in Hector, Fingerhut in Bird Island, and also as a cook at the Fairfax Community Home. She was a member of the Emanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was active in Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the Renville County Extension Club.

Kurt Therkilsen, 34, of Spicer, formerly of Comfrey, died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2000, at his home on Nest Lake.
Services were held Wednesday at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, New London.
He is survived by his wife, Jerri; a daughter, Suzette; a son, Kolt; a step-son, Stetson Shoen of Springfield; parents, Lester and Dee of Windom; brothers, Kevin of Superior, Wis. and Jeffery and his wife Cheryl of California; a sister and brother-in-law, Jodie and Doug Callanan of Comfrey; maternal grandmother, Vera Schottle of Comfrey; mother-in-law, Helen Haak of Springfield and father-in-law, Garry Haak of Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parental grandparents and maternal grandfather.
He was born Sept. 1, 1966 in Springfield to Lester and Demaris (Schottle) Therkilsen. He graduated from Comfrey High School in 1984. He married Jerri Haak Dec. 12, 1987 in New Ulm. They lived in Mountain Home, Idaho, Rhein Main, Germany and Las Vegas, Nev. while he was in the U.S. Air Force. He retired in 1998 and moved to Spicer. He was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church.

Erna M. Voight, of Arlington, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000, at the Arlington Municipal Hospital.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Arlington with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Arlington. The Fenske Funeral Home of Arlington is handling the arrangements.
She is survived by her daughter, Shirley and husband Eugene Schmidt of Arlington, a son Lyle and his wife Kathy Voight of Hayfield, sisters-in-law Marie Voight of Arlington and Ella Mahnke of Brownton; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and her her husband Fred on Aug. 12, 1984.
She was born July 8, 1914 in Henderson to Ludwig and Anna (Scheer) Mahnke. She attended eight years of elementary school and married Fred A. Voight on Sept. 27, 1932 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Arlington.
She worked at the Arlington Boarding Home, the Arlington Good Samaritan Center, Arlington Hospital and in later years her and Fred bought Luecks Tavern and operated it until 1974 at which time they retired.

Minnie Bluhm, 95, of Redwood Falls died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000, at Sunwood Good Samaritan Care Center, Redwood Falls.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Redwood Falls. Burial will be in Redwood Falls Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday and 8:30-noon Monday at Nelson Funeral Home, Redwood Falls. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church.
She is survived by her daughters, Arlene Davidson of Redwood Falls and Barbara Henry and husband, Paul of Kalamazoo, Mich.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two step-great-granchildren; sister, Ottelia Paape, Redwood Falls; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William, brothers, William, Otto and Carl Paape, sisters, Anna McKay, Emma Ward, Martha Bohn and twin sister Meta Crouch.
Minnie Martha Marie Bluhm was born May 7, 1905, in Morgan, daughter of Carl and Wilhelmina (Ott) Paape. She lived with her family in Morgan and attended Morgan schools. On Aug. 2, 1922, she married William Bluhm in Morgan. They lived in Morgan and Milroy untile moving to Redwood Falls in 1930. He died in January 1963. She was the head cook for the Redwood Falls Public School from 1947-1971. She also was a cook for Head Start until 1971. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Church and Ladies Aid. She was a member of Redwood Falls American Legion Auxiliary.

Paul Wendland, 87, of Jeffers, died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2000, at Valley View Manor, Lamberton.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jeffers. Burial will be in Germantown Cemetery, Cottonwood County.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Anderson-Schmidt Funeral Home, Jeffers, and will continue 9:30-11 a.m. Monday at the church.
He is survived by his son, Larry and wife, Joan Wendland of Ellsworth; daughter, Gloria and husband, Rick Lenhertz of Lake Elmo; three grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Ida Fruehling of Lamberton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, two infant children and two brothers, Otto and Fredrick.
Paul Robert Wendland was born Nov. 6, 1913, in Germantown Township, Cottonwood County, son of Emil and Wilhelmina (Schoper) Wendland. He received his education at rural schools in his home township. On Sept. 21, 1939, he married Malinda Caroline Weber at Zion Lutheran Church, Sanborn. They worked on farms in the Walnut Grove, Lamberton, Sanborn and Jeffers area. He continued farming fulltime until 1985, when he semi-retired, helping area farmers as needed. She died in 1988. He fully retired from farming in 1995. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for many years.
