Betty L. Lehar, 58, died Thursday at the Redwood Falls Hospital in Redwood Falls.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax with burial in the church cemetery in Cario Township in Renville County.
She is survived by her husband Charles Lehar of Fairfax, children Barb Lehar and husband Steve Wilson of Hudson, Wis., Doug and Tammy Lehar of Tomah, Wash., Cathy and Ray Schweiss of Brownton; five grandchildren; mother Floriene and John Miklos of Fairfax; brothers Gerald and Anee Bemmels, Robert and Judy Bemmels of Andover, Kenneth and Ronda of Fairfax; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father Edward Bemmels.
She was born Feb. 15, 1942 in New Ulm to Edward and Floriene (VonEschen) Bemmels. She grew up in Cario Township and received her education from the Fairfax Public School.
She married Charles Lehar on Sept. 17, 1960 at St. Andrew's Catholic church in Fairfax. They lived in Cairio Township and moved to Tracy for 12 years before moving back to Cario Township. She held employment with St. Andrew's Catholic Church for 14 years. She received the Bishops Medal of Honor for her work.

Sylvester P. Hertling, 77, of Sleepy Eye died Friday, Nov. 24, 2000, at the New Ulm Medical Center, New Ulm.
Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St.Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held 4-8 p.m. Monday and 7:30-10 a.m. on Tuesday at the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.
There will be a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 4 p.m. and a Parish Prayer Service at 8 p.m., both at the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye on Monday.
He is survived by his wife Monica of Sleepy Eye; children Allan and Suzanne Hertling of Orangevale, Calif., Doug and Barb Hertling of St. Cloud, Robert Hertling of Sleepy Eye, Steve and Rita Hertling of Sleepy Eye, Dave and Lisa Hertling of Sleepy Eye, Ronald Hertling of New Ulm, Laurie and Robert Seifert of New Ulm, Cindy and Vern Haala of Sleepy Eye, John and Deb Hertling of New Ulm; 18 grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters: Florence and Wess Westeberg of Walker, Lorena Nygard of Virginia, Bernice Killian of Woodbury, Catherine and Leonard Eller of Flandreau, SD, Alice Frank of New Ulm, Albert and Dolly Hertling of Glenwood, Bernard and Bonnie Hertling of Redwood Falls, Rose and John Schwerin of Redwood Falls and Frank and Irene Hertling of Redwood Falls.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son Tom in 1974; grandson Danny in 1991; brothers Richard, Leonard and Gilbert (Toby) Hertling.
He was born Sept. 8, 1923 to Frank and Adelaide (Brown) Hertling at Gutherie. He and his family moved to Wabasso in 1937 and later to Redwood Falls. He attended school in Gutherie and farmed with his parents before being drafted in the U.S. Army in 1944.
He married Monica Steffl on June 25, 1946, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. He was discharged from the service in January of 1947. He farmed north of Sleepy Eye and did custom corn shelling and combining for many years. Following retirement, in 1996 they moved their present home just east of Sleepy Eye on Hwy 14. He was a long time member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He played softball for many years.

Lucille Paa, 84, of Springfield, died Nov. 23, 2000, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield with burial in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation is 3-7 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield. There will be a parish prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield and a St. Anne.s CCW rosary at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Art and Lucille Wolf of New Ulm; sisters-in-law, Marcella Wolf, Ann Dittrich, Fran Reinhart and Charlotte Savat of New Ulm and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank in 1982; brothers, Melvin and Stanley Wolf.
She was born Oct. 31, 1916, in New Ulm to Andrew and Elizabeth (Dewanz). She attended school in New Ulm. She worked as a caretaker/housekeeper for families in Blue Earth and Minneapolis. On Oct. 30, 1948, she married Frank Paa at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. They lived in Sleepy Eye in the late 1940s and moved to Springfield in the late 1950s.
She was a member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church and St. Anne's CCW.

Donna Mae Huiras, 41, of 918 N. Washington in New Ulm, died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, at her home.
Mass of Christian burial is 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm. Burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation is 3-7 p.m. today and 7:30 - 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
She is survived by her mother, Marlee Hillesheim and her husband, Roman of Sleepy Eye; sister, Mitzie Huiras of New Ulm; brother, Mike "Hershey" Huiras of Arlington, Texas; several stepbrothers and stepsisters; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Victor Huiras in 1972; stepfather, Clarence Deopere; and grandparents, Ben and Agatha Gulden and Joe and Leona Huiras.
She was born Dec. 19, 1958, in Sleepy Eye to Victor and Marlee (Gulden) Huiras. She had cerebral palsey since birth. She had been a resident at the Faribault Regional Center since the age of six. In 1996, she moved into a group home at 918 N. Washington in New Ulm. She had been battling cancer for many years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or the New Ulm Food Shelf. Items for the food shelf may be dropped off during the visitation at the funeral home.

Esther M. Hanson, 86, of Canby, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, at Sioux Valley Canby Hospital.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Canby, with burial in the city cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Birk Funeral Home, Canby, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
She is survived by daughters, Janice and husband Roger Zimmerman of Porter, and Sandra and husband James Kragness of New Ulm; foster son Douglas and wife Bev Mork of Baltic, S.D.; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister Florence Eischens of Waconia; brother William Fairchild of Camby; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one great-grandchild; sisters, Ruth Mork and Myrtle Henningsgard; and brothers, Horace and Glenn Fairchild.
She was born Nov. 20, 1913, in Fortier Township, Yellow Medicine County, to Roy and Etta (Arnes) Fairchild. She attended rural schools. She graduated from Canby High School in 1931. She married Mandrup C. Hanson on Dec. 28, 1932 in Canby. They farmed in the Canby area for many years, moving into Canby in 1963. After Mandrup died in 1976, she moved to Sara Ann Apartments. In March she moved to Senior Haven, Canby. She was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Canby.

Dustin 'Dusty' Lloyd Nachreiner, 17, died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, in rural Sleepy Eye as the result of an auto accident.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He is survived by his parents; sister, Melissa and special friend Matt Serbus of Kimball; grandparents, Leon and Betty Nachreiner of Sleepy Eye, and Lloyd and LaDonna Havemeier of Sleepy Eye; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was born March 28, 1983, in Sleepy Eye, to Terry and Theresa (Havemeier) Nachreiner. He grew up in Sleepy Eye and attended Sleepy Eye Public School. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye, and a past member of FFA.

Abdon Lager, 96, of Winthrop, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, at Gaylord Lakeview Home.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Bernadotte Lutheran Church, Bernadotte Township, Nicollet County, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel, Winthrop, is in charge of arrangements.

Bernice Hartmann, 73, of Waubun, died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, at her home.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Waubun with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Anderson Funeral Home, Mahnomen, and one hour before services at the church. A prayer service will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
She is survived by her husband, Howard of Waubun; sons, Martin and wife, Gayle of Walker, Allen and wife, Belva of Homedale, Idaho; daughters, Rose and husband, Robert Spladrich of Climax, Minnie and husband, DuWayne Thompson of Crookston; brother, Alfred of Deerwood; sister, Alice Marstone of Hanska; 13 grandchildren, one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Molly, and a grandson, Andy.
Bernice Irene Hindermann was born April 8, 1927, on a farm in Nicollet County, near New Ulm, to Harry and Clara (Hogan) Hindermann. As a young woman, she moved into New Ulm, where she worked as a housekeeper. On April 20, 1948, she married Howard Hartmann in New Ulm. They lived on a farm in the area. They moved to the Wabun community in 1952, and have lived there since.

Vivian Johnson, 82, of Bird Island, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at the Buffalo Lake Nursing Home.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Osceola Township, rural Hector, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home, Bird Island, and at the church Thursday, one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by her husband Claud; daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and David Reich of Minneapolis, Mavis and John Bennett of Fargo, N.D., and Valorie Lloyd of San Mateo, Calif.; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Merton Sing of Bird Island and Elaine Julius of Olivia; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Lynn Lloyd; and brother-in-law, Virgil Julius.
She was born Oct. 4, 1918, in Minneapolis to Otto and Thelma (Latham) Buhman. She married Claud Johnson on Jan. 27, 1940 at Hector. They farmed near Bird Island. She belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary and was a Ladies Aid officer and Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher.
Memorials are preferred to the Minnesota American Parkinson Disease Association or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Abdon C. Lager, 96, of Winthrop, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, at the Gaylord Lakeview Home.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Bernadotte Lutheran Church, Bernadotte Township, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the church services, Thursday. Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel of Winthrop is handling services.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Vianne and Richard Engwall of Minnetonka; grandchildren, Garth, Meredith and Craig; our great- grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marian Lager of Winthrop; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Maude in August 2000; brothers Chester and Allen; and sisters, Edna Palmer and Agnette Anderson.
He was born Feb. 15, 1904, in Alfsborg Township, Sibley County, to August and Emma (Bergren) Lager. He attended District 54 and Winthrop Public Schools. He graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Agriculture in 1926. He returned to the family farm in Alfsborg Township. He also measured land for area farmers. Under the direction of the University of Minnesota, he grew and harvested one of the first soybean crops in Minnesota, in 1928. He married Maude Wedin on March 25, 1931, in Hector. They farmed the Lager family farm beginning in 1944. He was a member of Bernadotte Lutheran Church, where he was active in the men's organization and sang in the choir for more than 80 years. He was a member of the Sibley County School District Reorganization group from 1948-49. He belonged to the Minnesota Farm Bureau and received the organization's President's Award. He was a Sibley County historian.

Phyllis Schleuder, 101, of Schoolcraft, Mich., formerly of New Ulm, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, at her daughter's home in Schoolcraft.
Private, graveside services will be Dec. 2, 2000, in Marcellus Cemetery.
Mater Funeral Home of Marcellus, Mich., is handling arrangements.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Robert Gamble of Corpus Christi, Texas and Kitty and Richard Wunderlin of Schoolcraft; son and daughter-in-law, Don and Mary of Anderson, Ind.; eight grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest on Sept. 5, 1980.
She was born Jan. 16, 1898, in New Ulm to John and Emily (Kuennel) Neumann. She married Ernest Schleuder on Aug. 1, 1921, in Peoria, Ill. They lived in South Bend, Ind. and in many states and foreign countries since 1940, including Germany and Adak, Alaska before moving to Gravel Lake, near Lawton, Mich. She had lived with her daughter, Kitty, since 1997 in Schoolcraft.

Jay Schulz, of Winthrop, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, at Gaylord Lakeview Home.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, Winthrop, with burial in the city cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Saturday at Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel, Winthrop, and will continue Saturday one hour prior to services at the church.

Kenneth Smith, 67, of Redwood Falls, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, at the Redwood Falls Hospital.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church, Redwood Falls, with burial in Tracy City Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-6 p.m. today at Nelson Funeral Home, Redwood Falls, and at the church Thursday, one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by his brother, Jim of Grants Pass, Ore.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lester, Henry, Charles and Leonard; and sisters, Helen Goodmund, Ruth Goodmund, and Lucille Knudson.
He was born May 22, 1933, in Tracy to Lawrence and Nellie (Donnelly) Smith. He worked for Service Enterprises, Inc. and Merry Maids of Redwood Falls. He belonged to First Presbyterian Church.
