Lester Nott, 93, of Clements, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at the Wood Dale Nursing Home in Redwood Falls.
Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls with burial in the Crestlawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Nelson Funeral Home, Redwood Falls, and one hour before the service at the church.
He is survived by children and their spouses, Marie and Chris Figura of Eagan, Leslie and Kim Nott of Clements, Dianne and Doug Hatch of Redwood Falls, Laura Mae and James C. Anderson of Springfield; Darlene and Herb Henniger of Miltona, Charlotte Tiffany of LaPuente, Calif., Phyllis and Elmer Swanson of Balaton, Fern and Cletus Trost of Wabasso, Leonard and Renee Nott of Walnut Grove; stepchildren, Douglas and Karen Hanson of Broomfield, Colo., and Louise Hickley of Thayer, Mo.
He was preceded in death by infant daughter, Lorna; grandson, Tommy Mell; son-in-law, Karl Mell; a great-granddaughter; and sister, Ruth.
He was born July 30, 1907, in Freeport, Ill., to Daniel and Pearl (Meinzer) Nott. He moved with his family to Redwood County in 1913. He attended schools in the Wabasso, Redwood Falls and Clements area. He married Ruby Quesenberry on June 23, 1930, at the Methodist Parsonage in Worthington. He farmed in the Wabasso and Clements area. He married Iris Slaughter on Jan. 9, 1958, at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Redwood Falls.

Ervin A. Kiecker, 92, of Fairfax, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at New Ulm Medical Center.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Wellington Township, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Friday at Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel, Fairfax, and will continue one hour prior to services Friday at the church.

Ervin Kiecker, of Fairfax, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at the New Ulm Medical Center.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Wellington Township, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Friday at Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel, Fairfax, and at the church Friday, one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by sisters and a brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Gene Frank of Sun Lakes, Ariz. and Stella Case of Fairfax; brother-in-law, Perry Rogers of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Armin Kiecker; and sisters, Irene Kiecker and Florence Rogers.
He was born Feb. 6, 1908, in Wellington Township, Renville County, to Edmund and Wilhemina "Minnie" (Mahlke) Kiecker. He attended District 54 school and Emanuel Lutheran School. He farmed in Wellington Township. He was a lifelong member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, Wellington Township. He submitted inventions to the U.S. Patent Pending Office and worked with his long-time friend, Ted Lange of Hector in designing things.

Jay Schulz, 83, of Winthrop, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, at the Gaylord Lakeview Home.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, Winthrop, with burial in the Winthrop Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday and 7:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel, Winthrop; and at the church Saturday, one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Sylvia Schulz of San Diego, Calif.; grandchildren, Telly Freeburg and wife Aimee of Rosemount, Tonya Smith and husband Tim of Cottage Grove; six great-grandchildren; brother, Harlan Schulz of New Ulm; sister-in-law, Anna Besemer of Winthrop; several nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Schulz on June 12, 2000; parents; a daughter in infancy; son, Gary; sister-in-law, Edna Werner and brothers-in-law, Elmer and Clarence Besemer.
He was born March 26, 1917, in Walnut Grove to Richard and Anna (Mickelson) Schulz. He grew up in Walnut Grove and Tracy before moving to rural New Ulm. He married Bertha Besemer on Oct. 14, 1940 in New Ulm. They lived in Winthrop from 1940 to 1975. He worked for the City of Winthrop Street Department and as a meter reader. He later worked at 3M in New Ulm. They moved to Courtland in 1975 and back to Winthrop in 1996. They moved to the Gaylord Lakeview Home in 1997. He belonged to Zion Lutheran Church, Winthrop.

Melvin Riegel, 92, of Sleepy Eye, formerly of Redwood Falls, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000 at Divine Providence Home, Sleepy Eye.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Redwood Falls, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., with a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, Redwood Falls. Visitation will continue 8:30-10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorials are preferred to St. Catherine's Building Fund, or Divine Providence Community Home, Sleepy Eye.
He is survived by children, Richard and wife Virginia of Lakewood, Colo., Kathryn Schrupp and husband Leslie of Sleepy Eye, and John and wife Catherine of New Ulm; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife on Jan. 14, 2000; brother, Francis; and great-granddaughter, Hannah Hoelz.
He was born May 4, 1908, in Birch Coulee Township, Renville County, to Charles and Katherine (Schweinfurter) Riegel. He at graduating from Morton High School in 1926 and Mankato Business College in 1927. He married Jeanette Ruder on June 28, 1932, in Redwood Falls. He worked at J.C. Penney's in Redwood Falls and Pipestone, returning to Redwood Falls in 1938. He was manager of Ehler's Department Store until retiring in 1981. He was a member and trustee of the parish of St. Catherine's Catholic Church. He was a past Grand Knight and an honorary life member. In 1998 they moved to Sleepy Eye.

Zachary Matter was still born Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, at Immanuel-St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato.
Private family services were held Wednesday at Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield, with burial in Springfield City Cemetery.
He is survived by his parents, Scott and Nancy Matter of rural Sanborn; grandparents, Lester and Marion Vanderwerf and Norbert and June Matter, all of Springfield; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

Ardelle R. Simning, 72, of Springfield died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield.
Services are 10 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today and from 7:30-8:30 a.m. Friday at Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield; and continues one hour before the service at the church.
She is survived by children and their spouse, Ronald and Jo Ellen Simning of Redwood Falls, Lennis and Neva Simning of Springfield, Garold and Brenda Simning of Willmar, Cynthia Simning of Mankato, Jolene and Jerry Giester of Faribault; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; mother, Goldia Wendland of Springfield; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sylvia and Delbert Irwin of Ft. Worth, Texas, Ardis and Joe Schmidt of Lake Crystal, Mary Ann and Russell Jeppesen of Morgan, Berneida and Darrold Peck of Worthington, Sharon and Dave Schisler of Mascoutha, Diana and John Woodford of Redwood Falls, Patrice and Chuck Wermerskirchen of Jordon; brothers and sisters-in-law, Marvin and Fern Wendland of Springfield, Myron and Iris Wendland of Mankato, Walter and Janet Wendland of Tacoma, Wash., Bernard Wendland of Loretto and Roman and Ruth of Farmington; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Henry, husband, Raymond; sons, Robert and Victor; an infant sister; and other relatives.
She was born June 6, 1928, near Hanska to Henry Goldia (Maha) Wendland. Her family moved to the Springfield area, and she attended school in Stately Township. She worked as a waitress at various cafes in Redwood Falls. In 1951, she married Raymond Simning, Jr. They lived in many places including Lamberton, before returning to Springfield in the late 1960s. She entered the St. John Lutheran Home in 1995.

Gertrude Storch, 83, of Redwood Falls, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, at Rice Memorial hospital in Willmar.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John Lutheran Church in Morgan with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Friday at the Nelson Funeral Home, Redwood Falls, and continues one hour before the services Saturday at the church.

Floyd L. Bakken, 89, of Lamberton, formerly of Walnut Grove, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, at Valley View Manor, Lamberton.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Ann Township, Cottonwood County, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at Jacobson Funeral Home, Walnut Grove, and will continue one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Eldora; daughters, Kathleen Bakke and husband Alan of Forest Lake, and Louise Wenner and husband James of Oakdale; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Ernest of Walnut Grove; sister, Helen Schmid of Edina; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Irene Knudson.
He was born March 5, 1911, on the family farm south of Walnut Grove in Ann Township. He attended rural school district No. 42 until the eighth grade. He farmed most of his life. He married Eldora Kopperud on Feb. 1, 1941, in Westbrook. They lived in Ann Township. He was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church.

Gertrude Storch, 83, of Redwood Falls, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, at Rice Memorial Hospital, Willmar.

She is survived by children, Janice and husband Delbert Macklenburg of Vesta, Richard and wife Bethel, and Carol and husband Phil Felleson, all of Redwood Falls; three grandchildren; and brother Reuben and wife Eva Dallmann of Verndale.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert in 1989; and sisters, Lydia Hansen and Agatha Bittner.
She was born June 20, 1917, in Waterbury Township, Redwood County, to Albert and Marie (Netzke) Dallmann. She attended school in Wanda. She married Albert Storch on Oct. 14, 1943, in Wanda. They moved to the Redwood Falls area in 1952. She worked at several cafes in the area and at the Redwood Hospital kitchen. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Morgan.

Caroline Rieke, 87, of Fairfax, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, at the Fairfax Community Home.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church, Fairfax, with burial in Fort Ridgely Cemetery in Ridgely Township, Nicollet, County.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Saturday at Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel, Fairfax; and at the church Saturday, one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by her husband, Reuben of Fairfax; son and daughter-in-law, Reuben and Loretta of Lincoln, Neb.; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Dick Gulbranson of Brandon; son-in-law, Ray Weikle of Fairfax; sister, Anna Schmeling of Hutchinson; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 13 brothers and sisters; daughters, Leora Weikle and Betty Ostrom; grandson, Robert Weikle; and son-in-law, Jon Ostrom.
She was born March 3, 1913, in rural Cosmos to John and Clara (Lietzau) Bahr. She attended country school and worked as a hired girl. She married Reuben J. Rieke on Sept. 26, 1932, in St. Paul. She lived most of her life in Fairfax. She belonged to the United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women in Fairfax.

Paul A. Goblirsch, 79, of 1109 North Payne St., New Ulm, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, with burial in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-10 a.m. Monday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. St. John's Catholic Order of Foresters will pray the Rosary at 6:30 p.m. and there will be a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m., both Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Paul is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Goblirsch of New Ulm; a daughter and son-in-law, Eunice and Ben Gitter of Fairfax; sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald and Barb Goblirsch and Eugene and Mary Goblirsch, all of New Ulm; 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother and sister-in-law, Anton and Alice Goblirsch; sisters and brothers-in-law, Rose and Alfred Aschenbrenner, Stella and Anthony Hoernera and Regina and John Regner.
He was born January 15, 1921, in Lafayette Township, Nicollet County to Anton and Theresa (Brey) Goblirsch. He attended country school in Lafayette Township, Nicollet County. On February 3, 1948 he married Elizabeth Stueber at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm. After marriage they farmed in Lafayette Township, Nicollet County until May 1991. Then they moved to New Ulm. He became a resident of the Oak Hills Living Center in December 1997.
He was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm and the St. John's Catholic Order of Foresters.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to donors choice or family wishes.

Ida Fruehling, 97, of Jeffers, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000 at Valley View Manor, Lamberton.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jeffers, with burial in the city cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to services Monday at the church.
Anderson-Schmidt Funeral Home, Jeffers, is in charge of arrangements.

Arden Melzer, 63, or rural Hanska, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000 at New Ulm Medical Center.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Firle Funeral Home, New Ulm, with burial in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, New Ulm.
Visitation is 4-6 p.m. Sunday and 7:30 a.m. until time of the service Monday at the funeral home.

Esther Selena Anderson, 81, of St. James, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000 at Madelia Community Hospital.
Services are 1 p.m. Monday at East Sveadahl Lutheran Church, St. James, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-11 a.m. Monday at Sturm Funeral Home, St. James, and will continue one hour prior to services Monday at the church.
She is survived by daughter Patricia Benson and husband Keith of Hastings; son Dale and wife Debbie of St. James; six grandchildren; one great grandson; sister Marjorie Fahlin and husband Bud of St. Louis Park; brothers, Orlene and wife Barbara Henderson of Milwaukee, Wisc., and Kermit and wife Lola Henderson of Excelsior; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and sisters, Anna Bottem and Gertrude Kolstad.
She was born June 25, 1919 in Webster City, Iowa, to Erick and Selena (Ose) Henderson. She moved with her family to Godahl, where she attended school. She worked at Friesens Variety Store and the Crescent cafe. She married Clarence Anderson on Dec. 26, 1943 in St. James. They lived on the Anderson family homestead, where they farmed until retiring and moving to St. James in 1983. She was a member of East Sveadahl Lutheran Church. Her husband died March 17, 1995. She moved to Luther Memorial Home, Madelia, in the spring of 2000.

Sophie Stoeckmann, 91, of Gaylord died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at Arlington Good Samaritan Center.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Gaylord. Burial will be at First Lutheran Cemetery, Glencoe.
Visitation will be 3-6 p.m. Sunday at Fenske Family Funeral Home, Gaylord. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Helena Streich of Hutchinson, several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a daughter in infancy, four brothers and eight sisters.
Sophie E. Stoeckmann was born Jan. 1, 1909, in Brownton, daughter of Henry and Wilhelmina (Brockoff) Streich. She graduated from Brownton High School. She married Ernie Stoeckmann on June 24, 1934, at First Lutheran Church, Glencoe. In 1945, they moved to Gaylord. They had one child, a daughter, who died in infancy. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Altar Guild since 1963.
