Joseph F. "Joe" Hammerschmidt, 85, of Redwood Falls, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, at the Sunwood Good Samaritan Center, Redwood Falls.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Redwood Falls, with burial in St. Anne's Catholic Cemetery, Wabasso.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday with a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. and from 8:30-9:45 a.m. Saturday at Nelson Funeral Home, Redwood Falls.
He is survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Swede and Elaine of Redwood Falls, Mercellinus of Redwood Falls, Melvin and Lorraine of Lamberton, Bert and Delores of New Ulm; sisters and brothers-in-law, Leah Dolezal, Marie and Lee Butenhoff, Anne Schmidt, Elaine and Norman Rudenick, all of Redwood Falls; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, George and Frank; sisters, Zita Kretsch, Verna Allex and Hattie Hammerschmidt.
He was born Dec. 13, 1914, in Wanda to George and Maria (Simon) Hammerschmidt. He attended District 94 schools. He worked on the family farm, did road construction and as a mechanic for Fred Jensen Auto until retiring in 1976. He lived at Heritage Apartments in Wabasso and moved to Redwood Falls in 1990. He was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Redwood Falls and St. Anne's Catholic Church, Wabasso.

Helen Loeck, 62, 1200 N. German St., New Ulm, died Monday, Dec. 5, 2000 at home.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Catholic Church, Searles, with burial in New Ulm City Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday and 7:30-10 a.m. Saturday at Firle Funeral Home, New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
She is survived by her husband, Donald; mother, Irene Grossmann of Searles; sister, Diane and husband Kevin Roschnoffky of St. Louis, Mo.; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father; and brothers, Georgie and Roger Grossmann.
She was born July 25, 1938, in New Ulm, to Albert and Irene (Grathwohl) Grossmann. They moved to a farm near Hanska while she was a child. She attended St. John's Catholic School, Searles. She graduated from New Ulm High School in 1956. She worked for Tony Downs Foods, Madelia, for 23 years. She married Donald Loeck on Aug. 6, 1988 in Searles. They lived in Balaton for four years before moving to New Ulm in 1993. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church.

Estella Helena Marturano, 97, of Madelia, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at Luther Memorial Home, Madelia.
Services are 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Madelia, with burial in Calvary Cemetery, Madelia.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Friday at Pilgrim Funeral Home, Madelia, with a parish prayer service 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
She is survived by daughters, Jean and husband Ed Des Lauriers of Eden Prairie, and Carol and husband Jim Krueger of Madelia; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; brother, Eugene Graff; and sisters, Bernice Smarzyk and Mildred Mashek.
She was born July 9, 1903, in Ivanhoe, to George and Emilie (Baer) Graff. She graduated from Ivanhoe High School in 1920, and the College of St. Catherine, St. Paul, in 1924. She taught English in Anamoose, N.D., before returning to graduate school at University of Minnesota. After two years of graduate school, she worked as school principal in Arco. She later worked in the Public Library in Fargo, N.D., then worked as a public school librarian in Buhl. She married Joseph Marturano on Feb. 22, 1936, in Buhl. They owned a Gambles store in Madelia for 44 years, until retiring in 1979. She was a member of the Rosary Society, Christian Mothers League, and the League of Women Voters. She was also a member of the Hospital Auxiliary, the Watonwan County Historical Society, Madelia Senior Citizens, Minnesota Senior Federation, and Friends of the Library.

Donna Jean Morton, 57, of Winthrop, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, from injuries in an auto accident.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Clear Lake Baptist Church, Severance Township, Sibley County, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Friday at Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel, Winthrop; and at the church, one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel of Winthrop; son and daughter-in-law, Daniel Jr. and DeAnn of Ellsworth; daughters and sons-in-law, Dalynn and Emory of Chanhassen and Deborah and Jonathon Nykanen of Eden Prairie; grandson, Dayne Linn Morton; brother, Robert Land of Mariposa, Calif.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathy and Gary Tuton of Mullen, Neb., Joan Carr of Mullen, Neb. and Phyllis and Gary Schuster of Hershey, Neb.; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Charles Land.
She was born Aug. 31, 1943, in North Platte, Neb., to Robert Wakefield and Marie (Hogg) Land. She grew up in Nebraska and graduated from Hershey Public School in 1961. She graduated from the University of Nebraska School of Nursing in 1966. She worked for a short time at the University Hospital, Omaha. She married Dan Morton on Sept. 24, 1967, in Hershey. They lived in Minneapolis for a short time, and she worked at Hennepin County General Hospital. They returned to Nebraska to farm in 1971. They returned to Minnesota in 1972 and rented a farm between Winthrop and Gibbon. They bought a farm in Transit Township in 1973. She was a nurse at hospitals in New Ulm, Gaylord and Arlington before becoming Sibley County Public Health Nurse in 1978. She also served as the Arlington School Nurse, Early Childhood Screening coordinator, Inter Agency Intervention Team chair, environmental health, jail health and primary home care nurse for Arlington and Green Isle. She belonged to Clear Lake Baptist Church, was the church treasurer, in women's circle and the AWANA program. She helped found the Transit Trailblazers 4-H Club.

Luella Moeller, 86, of Winthrop, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at Hutchinson Hospital.
Services are 1 p.m. today at First Lutheran Church, Winthrop, with burial at 3 p.m. in Springfield City Cemetery.
Visitation is 7:30-10:30 a.m. today at Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel, Winthrop; and one hour prior to the service at the church.
She is survived by her husband, Leo Moeller of Winthrop; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Roxann Moeller of Madelia; grandchildren, Jonathon and Heather Moeller of Madelia; brother, Donald Potter, of New Ulm; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers; five half-brothers; and one half-sister.
She was born June 2, 1914, in Burnstown Township, Brown County, Minnesota, to John and Molena (Nelson) Potter. She grew up in Burnstown Township where she attended country school. She married Leo Moeller on March 19, 1949, in Rochester. They lived in Redwood Falls before moving to a farm in Bismarck Township, Sibley County. They moved to Winthrop in 1962. She was a cook at the Winthrop school for 16 years. She belonged to First Lutheran Church, Winthrop and served with the women's group. She was also a member of Winthrop Legion Auxiliary Post 314.

Oskar M. Lange, 86, of Redwood Falls, died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at Redwood Area Hospital.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Redwood Falls, with burial in the Redwood Falls Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Nelson Funeral Home, Redwood Falls, and will continue one hour prior to services Monday at the church.
He is survived by his children, Larry and wife Vickie of Cologne, Cleon and wife Diane of Sanborn, and Lonnie Leske and husband Larry of Redwood Falls; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and brother Paul of Apache Junction, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his wife; brothers, Fredrick, Arnold, Mike, Walter, Arthur, and William; and sister Esther.
He was born Feb. 26, 1914, in Waterbury Township, Redwood County, to Michael and Augusta (Timm) Lange. He lived in Waterbury Township and attended District 78 Schools. He entered the United States Armed Service April 16, 1941 in the South Pacific. He married Bonnie Fruge on Nov. 20, 1944 at A.P. Hill, Va. He was discharged from the service Oct. 17, 1945. They returned to the farm southeast of Wabasso. In 1980 they retired and moved to Redwood Falls. Bonnie died Sept. 15, 1995. He was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, and a former member of St. Matthew's Church, Wabasso. He belonged to Men in Mission at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. He received his high school diploma Nov. 13, 2000, at Wabasso High School.

Lorraine Lehman, 73, of Buffalo Lake, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at Glencoe Area Medical Center.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church, Buffalo Lake, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is one hour prior to services Monday at the church.
Sunset Funeral Home, Echo, is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her son Gene of Hector; sisters, Lucy Schandel of Neenah, Wis., Betty Binger and husband Vern of Fairfax, and Shirley Mueller and husband Gary of Staples; and brothers, Edwin Woller and wife Frieda of Winthrop, and Albert and wife Carrie Woller of Courtland.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband Roland on July 20, 1998.
She was born Aug. 7, 1927, near Brownton, to Albert and Martha (Eitel) Woller. She grew up near Buffalo Lake and attended Country School District 20. She married Roland Lehman on Feb. 14, 1947, in Gibbon. They farmed southeast of Buffalo Lake until 1985. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Buffalo Lake, and belonged to the W.E.L.C.A. and the quilting group.

Myrtle Boeder, 90, of 327 North Garden in New Ulm died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at Winthrop Good Samaritan Center, Winthrop.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, New Ulm. Burial will be in the New Ulm City Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church Monday. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by her daughters, LaVonne and husband, Roger Boyum, Barbara Nicolaus of New Ulm; sons, Floyd and wife, Marlys Boeder of Willmar, Curt and wife, Betty Boeder of Arlington, DeForrest Boeder of Gibbon, nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Victor Boeder, brothers Elmer Schultz and Howard Schultz, sisters Irene Mueller, Goldie Busta, and a grandson, Jeffrey Boeder.
She was born May 8, 1910, in Wellington Township, Renville County, daughter of Edward and Bertha (Stuber) Schultz. She attended country school in Grafton Township, Sibley County. She married Victor Boeder on Jan. 12, 1930, in Stewart. They farmed in Moltke Township, Sibley County, until 1961, when they moved into Gibbon. They owned and operated the Star Lite Cafe in Gibbon for a number of years and later sold the business. She then moved to Minneapolis and worked as a cook at a sorority house at the University of Minnesota. She later moved to New Ulm to be near her family. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, New Ulm.

Phyllis Cannone, 95, formerly of Chicago, died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at Oak Hills Living Center, New Ulm.
Private services will be held today at Glueckert Funeral Home, Arlington Heights, Ill., with entombment in the Queen of Heaven Mausoleum in Hillside, Ill.
Local arrangements are being handled by Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, New Ulm.
She is survived by her niece, Sister Jesse Capparelli of New Ulm; nephew, Carmen Capparelli and wife, Rose, of Delavan, Wis., several great nieces and nephews, special friend, Kenric Ruppert of New Ulm.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Pete Cannone, sisters, Anna Capparelli and Rose Cozzi, brothers Jack Cozzi and John Cozzi, and a great nephew.
She was born July 23, 1905, in Italy, daughter of Carmen and Maria (Marcontoni) Cozzi. She married Pete Cannone in Chicago. They lived in Chicago. She was a member of the St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Chicago and the senior citizens group at the church.

Herman A. Radloff, 95, of 805 South Front St., New Ulm, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at Fairfax Community Home in Fairfax.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the United Church of Christ in New Ulm with burial in the City Cemetery in New Ulm. Full military honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the New Ulm Veterans Organizations.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Monday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the time of the service at the church on Monday.
He is survived by his sisters, Hilda Fritsche of New Ulm, Eleonora Haber of Sleepy Eye, and Edna Sear of New Ulm; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Alice Fick; and by brothers-in-law, Paul Fritsche, Earl Haber, and Elmer Sear.
He was born Sept. 29, 1905, in Home Township, Brown County to Frederick and Bertha (Vogel) Radloff. He attended District #21 Country School in Home Township, Brown County. After school he was a Ham Radio Operator in Sleepy Eye. He enlisted in the Volunteer Communication Reserve in 1929. In 1940, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving in the Pacific Ocean, aboard the USS Ranger, the USS McCawley, USS Weaver and the USS Metcalf.
He lived in St. Louis, Mo., most of his life, returning to New Ulm several years ago.
He was a member of the United Church of Christ in New Ulm, the Brown County Historical Society, and the Sleepy Eye Historical Society.

Joanne Roth, 57, of Bismarck Township, died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at Hutchinson Community Hospital.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bismarck Township.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-10 a.m. Monday at Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel, Winthrop, and at the church Monday, one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by her husband, Howard of Bismarck Township; children and children-in-law, Jennifer of Bismarck Township, Vernon and Debbie Kaufman of Brandon, Sandra Schmitz of Sauk Centre, Tamera and Jon Abraham of Gaylord, Howard and Amy Roth of Overton, Neb. and Dawn and Doug Borchert of Sioux Falls, S.D.; nine grandchildren; her mother, Alice Dalberg of Veblin, S.D.; nine brothers and sisters and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ole Dalberg.
She was born June 7, 1943, in Veblen, S.D. to Ole and Alice (Bellbin) Dalberg. She graduated from Claire City, S.D. High School. She married Howard Roth on Oct. 31, 1981 in Dawson. They lived in Hutchinson in 1988 before moving to Bismarck Township in 1989. She worked as a cook at the Winthrop Good Samaritan Center then the Young America Corp.

Ida Gratz, 89, of 510 8th South Street, New Ulm died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at Arlington Good Samaritan Home in Arlington.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, New Ulm, with burial in the Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation will be 10-10:45 a.m. Tuesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.
She is survived by her son, James and wife, Nancy Gratz of Plymouth; two grandchildren, Lisa and Bill Gratz, both of Chanhassen; brothers, Earl Casper of New Richland and Melvin Casper of Amery, Wisconsin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Gratz, on Jan. 7, 1996; by three brothers and two sisters.
Ida Gratz was born April 8, 1911, in New Richland to Edward and Martha (Bolduen) Casper. She attended school in New Richland. After high school, she moved to New Ulm and was a nurses aide at Union Hospital. On October 11, 1936, she married Floyd Gratz at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. She was a homemaker and also helped her husband for many years in their family business, called Floyds Off Sale Liquor Store.
She has been a resident of Arlington Good Samaritan Home since October. She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm.

Leona Sill, 81, of Madelia, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at Luther Memorial Home, Madelia.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Salem Lutheran Church, Madelia, with burial in Riverside Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Monday at Pilgrim Funeral Home, Madelia, and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.
She is survived by sons, Jerry of Madelia, and Richard and wife Lorraine of Madelia; daughters, Cathy Tostenson of Fridley, and Sue Halverson and husband Ron of Waconia; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sister Deloris Splinter and husband Clarence of Truman.
She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter-in-law Mollie; son-in-law Larry; six brothers; and four sisters.
She was born April 26, 1919 in rural Lewisville, to Albert and Olga (Beck) Becker. She grew up in the rural St. James, Lewisville and Madelia areas, where she attended school. She married Lloyd Sill on June 1, 1938 in rural Lewisville. They farmed with Tilney Farms, Lewisville, and later the family farm in rural Madelia. She worked at Tony Downs Foods, madelia, and as a poultry inspector for the United States Department of Agriculture.
She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Madelia, and the Bible study group. She moved to Luther Memorial Home in June 1999.
