Myrtle Slagerman, of Buffalo Lake, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at Buffalo Lake Health Care Center.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Zion United Methodist Church, Buffalo Lake, with burial in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
Visitation is one hour prior to services Monday at the church.
Raymond Hughes Funeral Home, Hector, is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by nephew J. Wendell Sands and wife Michal of Alvarado; nieces, Darlyne Magnuson of Roseville, and Corinne Jenkins and husband Gordon of Alvarado; several great and great-great nephews and nieces; one godchild; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Herbert; two brothers; and five sisters.
She was born in Alvarado to Peter and Inga (Johnson) Nordlund. She graduated from Warren High School, and the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks. She married Herbert Collison Slagerman on Feb. 6, 1943. She taught first grade in North Dakota, Montana, Arizona, California, and Minnesota.
In 1952, they moved to Buffalo Lake. In 1964, she retired from teaching. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she was in ladies groups and the Evening Circle. She was a member of Oakdale Country Club. She was first president of the Ladies Organization at Oakdale.

Dorothy Lorraine Curry, 69, of Fairmont, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester.
Services are 1 p.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church, St. James, with burial in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Sturm Funeral Home, St. James.

Donald W. Forbrook, 74, of rural Courtland died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at St. Peter Community Hospital in St. Peter.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Courtland, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. today at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Nicollet and will continue on Tuesday for one hour
prior to time of service at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Vercille Forbrook, a resident of Grandview Care Center in St. Peter; son, Rodney Forbrook and his fiancee, Patty Berg, both of St. Peter; grandchildren, Michael Forbrook and his wife, Angela of Brookings, S.D., Nickolas Forbrook of Courtland and Melissa Berg of Eagan; son-in-law, Glenn Mertesdorf of Courtland; sister and brother-in-law Arlene and Lorenz Wischstadt and sister, Dorothy Postel, all of New Ulm; a brother-in-law, Elmer "Sam" Meyer and his wife, Myra of New Ulm; sister-in-law, Florence Forbrook of Mankato; and by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Renee Mertesdorf on April 10, 1989; sister, Mildred Meyer; brother, Harold Forbrook; brother, Gerhardt Forbrook, in infancy; and a brother-in-law, LeRoy Postel.
He was born Dec. 4, 1926, in Nicollet County to Paul and Emma (Wels) Forbrook. He married Vercille Epke on Aug. 27, 1948, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Courtland. They farmed in Courtland Township, Nicollet County. They retired from farming in the late 1980s.They moved to St. Peter, and eventually became residents of the Grandview Care Center in St. Peter in February. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Courtland, and a past member of the Valley Archers Inc. of St. Peter.

Marvin Kamm, 67, of rural New Ulm died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000. at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Minneapolis.
Mass of Christian burial is 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Searles with burial in the church cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by the New Ulm veterans organizations.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 7:30 - 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. St. John's Court, Catholic Order of Foresters will pray the rosary at 6:30 p.m., and there will be a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian Kamm of rural New Ulm; daughter, Karen Peterson of North Mankato; sons, Kevin Kamm of rural New Ulm, Douglas Kamm of New Ulm; grandson, Douglas Kamm, Jr. at home; mother, Meta Kamm of New Ulm; sisters, LaVonne Kamm and Darlene Schmiesing both of New Ulm; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Mary Kamm of Madelia, Elden and Charlotte Kamm of Mankato, Charles and Shirley Kamm of Courtland, Richard and Linda Kamm of Cody, Wyo.; and Jerry and Marian Kamm of New Ulm.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Kamm in 1992; brother, Harley Kamm in 1968; and a sister, Elizabeth Kamm in 1940.
He was born on Dec. 24, 1932, in Cottonwood Township, Brown County, to Carl and Meta (Saffert) Kamm. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950 to 1954. He married Lillian Tauer on Oct. 30, 1957, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm.They farmed in Linden Township, Brown County for 14 years. He then worked for Skyline Mobil Homes in New Ulm and then for Heymann Construction in New Ulm. He had been a custodian for the St. Mary's Grade School in New Ulm for 18 years. After retirement he worked part-time for the South Central Cleaning Service in New Ulm for five years. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Searles and the St. John's Court 698, Catholic Order of Foresters.

Dorothy L. Curry, 69, of Fairmont, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester.
Services are 1 p.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church, St. James, with burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
Visitation is 4-9 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30-11 a.m. Thursday at Sturm Funeral Home, St. James and at the church, one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by her son, Dale and his fiancee Lois Wright of Fairmont; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ernest and Robin Ableson of Fairmont and Victor Jr. and Dianna Ableson of Welcome; sister and brother-in-law, Mayvis and Brad Keech of Madelia; sister-in-law, Eldora Uhde of St. James; seven grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert; a grandson; two nephews and a brother.
She was born Sept. 4, 1931, in Parkers Prairie to Gus and May Ann (Judson) Uhde. She moved to Mankato in 1950 and worked at the Happy Chef until 1955, when she moved to St. James. She married Robert Curry on Jan. 16, 1956. She worked at Schmidt's Bakery until 1958. She worked at Tony Downs from 1959 until she retired in 1993.

Col. Gerald H. Duin, 88, of Green Brae, Calif., formerly of New Ulm, died Nov. 19, 2000, at his home.
A memorial service was held at Peace Lutheran Church in Mill Valley, Calif., on Dec. 2.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothea (Haeusser) Duin of Green Brae, Calif.; son, Geoffrey Duin of Portland, Ore.; daughter, Ingrid Richardson of San Diego, Calif.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Alice Hinnenthal of St. Paul; brothers, Dr. Edgar Duin of Falls Church, Va., and Rear Admiral Robert A. Duin of Bellevue, Wash.; many nieces and nephews, among them Robert D. Hinnenthal of New Ulm.
He was born Dec. 2, 1911, in Waterloo, Wis., to Siegfried and Alma (Engelbert) Duin. The family moved to New Ulm in 1918. He attended St. Paul's Lutheran School in New Ulm and in 1931 he graduated from Dr. Martin Luther College. He graduated from West Point in 1936 with the rank of Second Lieutenant. He married Dorothea Haeusser on Nov. 23, 1941. He served in the army until 1959. During his military career, he was liaison officer for the Soviet Repatriation Commission in Austria in 1949; Deputy Commander, U.S. Liaison Group to Soviet Forces in Potsdam, Germany, in 1952; liaison officer to the GEHLEN Group from 1952 to 1955. He served two tours with the Central Intelligence Agency and two tours with the National Security Agency. After his retirement. he served as a lecturer with the rank of assistant professor for the University of Maryland Overseas program from 1959 to 1973. During this assignment, he and his family lived in Germany, Italy, Ethiopia, Greece, Spain and Turkey. After his retirement from the University of Maryland, he and his wife moved to San Francisco, Calif.

Lorraine S. Joblinske, 76, of St. James, died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital, Mankato.
Services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church, St. James, with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery, St. James.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today and 7:30-11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sturm Funeral Home, St. James, and will continue one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
She is survived by daughters, Karen and husband Steve Shorma of Fridley, and Karol and Greg Johnson of Bloomington; three grandchildren; brother John and wife Schmillen of Pequot Lakes; two sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and daughter Mary.
She was born Jan. 3, 1924, to John and Ruth (Quist) Schmillen. She married Donald Joblinske on May 15, 1945, in Martinez, Calif. She worked at a pharmacy in St. James for 40 years, retiring in 1993. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, St. James, and First Lutheran Church.

David Wischstadt, 41, died of a severe asthma attack, Sunday, Dec. 10 at Sleepy Eye Municipal Hospital.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sleepy Eye, with burial in Home Cemetery, Sleepy Eye.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye, and Wednesday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by his wife, Marleen, of Sleepy Eye; sons, William and Darren, both at home; parents, Wilbert and Beverly of Sleepy Eye; a sister, Kathleen Speckman of Elk River; and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Martha (Pfarr) and Erwin Matter, a nephew and two nieces.
He was born Oct. 24, 1959, in Minneapolis to Wilbert and Beverly (Carnes) Wischstadt of rural Sleepy Eye. He graduated from Sleepy Eye High School in 1978. He drove a semi truck for Fred Kiecker and Leonard Malecek for four years while farming with his father. He married Marlene Matter on Dec. 6, 1981, in Sleepy Eye. They lived in Sleepy Eye while he continued to farm. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye. He also belonged to the FFA and MTA.

Judy Jo Roper, 51, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Nelson Funeral Home in Redwood Falls with burial in the Morton City Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and continues on Thursday one hour prior to services at the Nelson Funeral Home.
She is survived by husband, Dick Roper of Redwood Falls; children and their spouses, Audra and Mike Prange of Highland Ranch, Colo. and Heather and Robert Franklin of Santa Maria Calif., and five grandchildren Jonathan, Christopher and Madison Prange and Alexis and Alleylah Franklin.
She is also survived by her mother, Liz Bronson of Redwood Falls; brother, Joe Bronson of Des Moines, Iowa ; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Gary Taylor of Calif., Jean and Larry Wog of Penn., and Shelly and Ed Lindblom of Redwood Falls; many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and special friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gene Bronson in 1993; father-in-law, Henry Roper in 1988; and mother-in-law, Liz Roper in 1995.
She was born Jan. 17, 1949, to Gene and Liz (Butcher) Bronson. She graduated from Redwood Falls High School in 1967. She married Robert Lutey in Rapid City, S.D. She moved back to Minnesota in 1989. She married Richard "Dick" Roper on April 13, 1991, at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Morton. They lived in Redwood Falls until moving to Castle Rock, Colo. She returned to Redwood Falls in September of 1998.

Jacob Johnson, 80, of Revere, died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at Tracy Municipal Hospital.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Lamberton, with burial in Lamberton Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today, 7:30-9:30 a.m. Thursday at Sturm Funeral Home, Lamberton and at the church Thursday, one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Elmer of Lamberton, and Raymond and Bonnie of Lamberton; sisters and brothers-in-law, LaVonne and Clyde Prins of Tracy, Lorraine and Henry Martius of Revere and Juanita and LuVerne Pankonin of Brookings, S.D.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John.
He was born April 20, 1920, in Kingsley, Iowa, to George and Anna (Raveling) Johnson. He attended country school near Remsen, Iowa. He moved to Minnesota in the early 1930s, settling in Highwater Township. He farmed with his parents there before moving to Lamberton Township in the late 1940s where he farmed. He and his brother Ray did custom trucking and baling for many years. He belonged to Our Savior's Lutheran Church.

Marvin Weber, 74, of Jeffers, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at his home.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jeffers, with burial with full military rights in Jeffers Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Anderson-Schmidt Funeral Home, Jeffers, and at the church Thursday, 90 minutes prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Sioux Valley Hospice.
He is survived by his wife, Viola of Jeffers; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Mike Vollmer of Lamberton; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Ann of Savage; brothers, Raymond of Sanborn and Les of Winthrop; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Evelyn and Don Hellickson of Sanborn and Berneatta and Eugene Schmid of New Ulm; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Alfred, Laurence, Eddie and Orvile; sisters, Elise Krause, Leona Wendland and Melinda Wendland.
He was born Oct. 1, 1926, to Paul and Bertha (Beier) Weber. He attended school in Sanborn. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1949, served in the Korean Conflict and was discharged in 1951. He returned to the Jeffers area, farmed for several years before opening Weber's Rec., a pool hall in Jeffers. He married Viola Vandermoon on Oct. 20, 1962, in Jeffers. He later worked for Oak Grove Dairy and drove a bulk truck for Suburban Gas of Windom until retiring in 1991. He belonged to Trinity Lutheran Church, Jeffers and Odegaard-Quade American Legion Post 402 in Jeffers.

Rosa A. Bode, 88, of Nicollet, died Dec. 13, 2000, at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Nicollet, with burial in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Courtland Township, Nicollet County.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Nicollet.
She is survived by daughters, Judith V. Bode and Linda I. Bode, both of rural Nicollet; sisters-in-law, Viola Lange and Agnes Moeri; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William F. Bode; and brothers, Edward and Henry Keller.
She was born Nov. 1, 1912, in Fargo, N.D., to Henry and Elizabeth (Behrend) Keller. She grew up and worked in Mankato until her marriage.
She married William F. Bode on Nov. 3, 1946. They farmed in Nicollet Township until their retirement in 1980. She continued to live at her rural Nicollet home until her death.

Marcus Schlumpberger, 86, of Minneapolis, formerly of New Ulm, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, at Jones Harrison Residence, Minneapolis.
Services are 1 p.m. Sunday at Werness Brothers Funeral Home, Edina, with burial at New Ulm City Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, and will continue Sunday one hour prior to services.
He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie and Jerry Ubl of Midlothian, Va., Karen and John Alstrup of Apple Valley, and Lois Castaneda of Minneapolis; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Shirley of Minneapolis, and Dale of Napa, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; sisters, Elsie Hamilton of Glendale, Calif., and Agnes Reiger and Ann Duetsch, both of New Ulm; brother, Larry of Rogue River, Ore.; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn; daughter, Susan; parents; brothers, Henry, William, and Raymond; and sister Mamie Zuphfer.
He was born Sept. 27, 1914, in rural New Ulm, to Albert and Mary (Klingler) Schlumpberger. He grew up in the St. George area. He married Carolyn Johnson on Nov. 17, 1945, in Gibbon. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the South Pacific. He was a truck driver for Stork Brothers of New Ulm and worked at a hatchery prior to taking a job with the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad, where he worked until he retired. He moved to Minneapolis in 1967. He was a member of New Ulm American Legion.

Steven Hauser, 62, of New Brighton, formerly of Sleepy Eye, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000.
Services will be held in Sleepy Eye at a later date.
Visitation is 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at White-Burnsville Funeral Home, Burnsville.
He is survived by sons, Matt and Mark; brother, Errol of Sleepy Eye; and sister-in-law, Rita.
