Iris A. Herbers, 68, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000, at Naeve Hospital in Albert Lea.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Minnesota Lake, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Sunday at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Minnesota Lake with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service, and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Holly and Richard Postel of New Ulm, and Diane and David Washington of Yorba Linda, Calif.; sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Patricia Herbers of Eyota, Brian and Kathy Herbers of Robbinsdale, Jim and Mary Herbers of Rochester, and Wade and Melissa Herbers of Minnesota Lake; eight grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Penny Lieb of Albert Lea; and sister, June Adele Lieb of Minneapolis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1992; two nieces and a nephew.
She was born March 27, 1932, in Kossuth County near Algona, Iowa. She was employed as a bookkeeper by Upper Des Moines Publishing Company in Algona, a weekly county newspaper.
She married Harlan G. Herbers on Dec. 22, 1954, in Algona, Iowa. They moved to Minnesota in 1955.
She was a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Minnesota Lake and was involved in the church circle and the church choir. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
She was involved in Cub Scouting. She served as secretary of the Minnesota Lake Community Chest for many years. She was also a volunteer driver for Social Services.

Grace H. Karstad, 65, rural Nicollet, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000, at her home.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church in St. Peter. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church. The St. Peter Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
She is survived by her husband, Richard, of rural Nicollet; daughters and sons-in-law, Naomi and Roderick Kettlewell of St. Paul, Rebecca and Crist Ballas of St. Paul and Jenny Karstad and Jodi Clark of Brookline, Vermont; sons, Peter of Minneapolis and Ole of rural Nicollet; two grandchildren; mother, Adeline Johnson of St. Peter and brother, Burtman Johnson of Minneapolis.
She was preceded in death by her father, Emeory Johnson, and her sister, Adele.
She was born Sept. 10, 1935 to Emeory and Adeline (Burtman) Johnson.
She married Richard Karstad on Dec. 21, 1959, at the Scandian Grove Lutheran Church in Norseland. She received a B.A. degree from Gustavus Adolphus College in 1957 and a master's degree in music from the University of Minnesota in 1959. She taught music at Gustavus Adolphus College. She was active in the First Lutheran Church.

Travis Anderson, 34, of Comfrey, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, in Mason Township, Murray County.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at New Hope Lutheran Church, Comfrey, with burial in Faith Lutheran Cemetery, Comfrey.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday, 7:30-11:30 a.m. Monday and at the church Monday, one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by daughters, Amber and Paige of Waseca; son, Alex, of Billings. Mont.; mother Gwen Anderson of Comfrey; a paternal grandmother, Mae Anderson of Springfield; brothers, Kent of Comfrey, Kem and special friend Denise Ballman of Springfield and Tim and Monica of Comfrey; sisters and brothers-in-law, Kayla and Terry Siegler of Lake Crystal, Gina and Rod Hammerschmidt of Springfield, Darcy Collins and significant other Mike Cunningham of Mason City, Iowa, and Tess Anderson and special friend Chris Gregg of Jackson; 16 nieces and nephews; two uncles and two aunts.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Elmer Anderson; maternal grandparents Lester and Louese Harris; and father, Kelvin Anderson.
He was born July 27, 1966, in Springfield to Kelvin and Deloris "Gwen" (Harris) Anderson. He graduated from Comfrey High School in 1984 and attended Alexandria Vo-Tech. He worked for Allstate Paving for two years and Irving F. Jensen Construction for ten years, many of them as a foreman. He started Anderson Construction Company in Comfrey in 1997. He was working on jobs in Pipestone and Austin. He was a former member of the Faith Lutheran Church Board. He replaced many sidewalks, curb, gutters and driveways in Comfrey after the 1998 tornado.

Harold Niebuhr, 79, of Gibbon, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, at his home.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon, and one hour prior to services at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Miriam Niebuhr, of Gibbon; daughters and a son-in-law, Colleen Niebuhr of St. Cloud, and Christine and Harry Drury of St. Paul; grandchildren, Sarah Niebuhr of St. Cloud, and Nicholas Drury at home; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy and Frank Burke of Hutchinson, and Lucille and Ortwin Schmalz of Buffalo Lake; and a brother, Edgar Niebuhr of Gibbon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Irene Thiede, Helen Lietz and Luella Niebuhr.
He was born Aug. 1, 1921 in Moltke Township, Sibley County to Herman and Sophie (Mueller) Niebuhr. He graduated from Gibbon High School in 1939. He married Miriam Martinson on June 8, 1950 at the Marble Lutheran Church in rural Canby. After marriage they farmed in rural Gibbon for 40 years. They moved into Gibbon in 1969. He worked for May-Wes Manufacturing in rural Gibbon for 10 years. He served as clerk and supervisor for the Bismarck Township for ten years. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon and was the treasurer of the church for 17 years.

Steven Albert Hauser, 62, of New Brighton, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000 at his home.
Services are 3 p.m. today at Faith United Methodist Church, Sleepy Eye, with burial in Home Cemetery.
Visitation is 10 a.m. to noon at Burnsville Funeral Home.
Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his sons, Mark of Burnsville, and Matt of California; and brother and sister-in-law, Errol "Nip" and Rita of Sleepy Eye.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was born July 4, 1938 in Sleepy Eye to Willard and Celestine "Sally" L. Hauser. He attended Mankato State University. He served in the Army Reserve for six months. He married Wendy Smith in 1968. They lived in Burnsville. He worked at Med Tronics for many years, retiring in July 2000.

Julia Durheim, 63, of rural Madelia, died Friday, Dec. 15, at St. James Health Services Hospital, St. James.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. James Catholic Church, with burial in the Calvary Cemetery in Madelia.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Pease Funeral Home in St. James. There will be a Christian Mother's Rosary at 4 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, both at the funeral home.
She is survived by her husband, Noren; daughter and son-in-law, MindiSue and Rick Schwerzler of Sleepy Eye; step-daughters and sons-in-law, Christine and Rick Wellman, Judy and Kelly King; step-sons and daughters-in-law, Matthew and Cindy Durheim and Mark and Janet Durheim, all of St. James; 12 grandchildren; mother Wilhelmina Jordahl of Madelia; brothers, Ellef Jr. and Corrine Jordahl of Yankton, S.D., and Peter Jordahl,of Madelia; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father; husband Frederick, and step-sons Scott and Tom Durheim.
She was born May 1, 1937, in Mankato, to Ellef and Wilhelmina (Himan) Jordahl. She married Frederick Frederickson on Oct. 13, 1956, in Madelia. Following their marriage they lived Arizona for four years, then moved back to Minnesota. The couple lived in LaSalle and operated the F and J Hardware Store for several years. Frederick died on Sept. 20, 1986.
She married Noren Durheim on Sept. 21, 1991, in New Ulm. They lived in rural Madelia.
She served as Guardian Ad Litem for the Fifth Judicial District of Southern Minnesota for the past ten years. She was a member of the St. James Catholic Church.

Richard H. 'Squeaky' Wiedl, 65, of 625 S. Front St., New Ulm, died Friday, Dec. 15, 2000, at Immanuel St. Joseph Hospital, Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, New Ulm, with burial in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will is 4 - 8 p.m. Monday and 7:30 - 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Delores, of New Ulm; daughter, Linda Wiedl and special friend Bo b "Bone" Andersen, both of New Ulm; sons and daughter-in-law, Jerome Filzen of Klossner, and Mike and Cindy Wiedl of New Ulm; grandchildren, Jerome Filzen Jr., Jacob Wiedl, Robert Wiedl, and Benjamin Wiedl, all of New Ulm.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was born Oct. 27, 1935 in New Ulm to David and Florence (Groebner) Wiedl. He married Delores Mielke on April 25, 1959, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, New Ulm. He worked for Heymann Construction, W & G Construction, and New Ulm Monument until his retirement in 1997. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm.

Rosa Bode ­ The service for Rosa Bode, 88, of Nicollet, has been rescheduled for 2:00 p.m. Sunday, at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Nicollet, with burial in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Courtland Township, Nicollet County.
Visitation is 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet.
Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Nicollet is in charge of the arrangements.

Sarah Jane Robbins, 85, of Watertown, S.D., formerly of Winthrop, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown, S.D.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Winthrop, with burial in the Winthrop Cemetery.
Visitation is held 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Winthrop and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. The Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Brenda, of Minneapolis; daughters and sons-in-law, Bernida and Leon Gunther of Deuel County, S.D., and Patty and Mike Anderson of Watertown, S.D.; 14 grandchildren; 28 great grand children; four great-great grandchildren; sister Pear Irene Helley of Edmonds, Wash.; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Richard H. "Hinie" Robbins; sons Ray, Roy and Richard, all in infancy; daughters, Vonnie, in infancy, and Rose Ann Hagg, in June 1994; grandson Rich Schmeling, five brothers and three sisters.
She was born January 13, 1915, in Jefferson, S.D. to Thomas C. and Mary Anna (Fountaine) Cates. She attended school in Jefferson and Crocker, S.D.
She married Richard Henry "Hinie" Robbins on January 13, 1933, at the Methodist Parsonage in Watertown, S.D. They lived in Watertown and attended the First Methodist Church.
She worked for Balsiger Bakery and also at the Fox Poultry House. In 1957, they moved to Morton where they lived for three years.
They moved to Winthrop where she worked at Lyle's Cafe for many years. Richard died February 2, 1995. She continued living in Winthrop until 1998 when she moved back to Watertown to be closer to her family.
She was a past member of several Methodist Church congregations and a current member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Winthrop.
She served as deaconess of the church, taught Sunday school and served with the Christian Women's Club.

Dr. F. George Woessner, 83, of Sleepy Eye, died Friday, Dec. 15, 2000, at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.
Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, with burial with military rites in Home Cemetery Veterans Memorial Garden Section.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday and 7:30-9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye.
There will be a K.C. Rosary at 4 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Monday, both at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Ione, of Sleepy Eye; sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Joan, of Eagan, Gerry and Lynne, of Plymouth, Mark and JoAnn,of Eden Prairie, Steve and Leann, of Maple Grove, Don and Ann, of Roseville, and Mike and Julie, of Golden Valley; 14 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; sister Marie Stoll of St. Cloud; sister-in-law Harriet Woessner of Albuquerque, NM; and aunt Amelia Woessner of Perham.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother Bernard.
He was born Sept. 26, 1917 to Frederick and Frances (Redowski) Woessner in Perham.
He grew up in Perham. He attended Moorhead State University and received his teaching degree. He taught math and science at Albany High School.
He entered the United States Navy on Aug. 29, 1942. He was a member of the Normandy Invasion, serving on the USS Quincy as Lieutenant Sergeant until his discharge on January 7, 1946.
He married Ione Krebs on Sept. 30, 1944, in Albany. He attended the University of Minnesota Dental School, graduating in 1950. He practiced dentistry for 40 years in Sleepy Eye.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye, and a member of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus.
He was also a member of the American Legion, Sleepy Eye Golf Club, American Dental Association, Minnesota Dental Association and a past member of the Lions Club.

Gerald Karow, 74, died Friday, Dec. 15, 2000, at Sunwood Care Center in Redwood Falls.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield with burial in the Sanborn City Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday an 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Wahneeta of Sanborn; sons,m Larry and Thelma Karow of Gillette, Wyo., and Jerry and Denise Karow of Mount Pleasant, N.C.; grandchildren, David, Ashton, Chelsey, Dylan, and Dalton Karow; sister, Elaine Ryan of Springfield; brother, Dennis and Linda Karow of New Prague and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Marian Dammann.
He was born Nov. 9, 1926, in Germantown Township, Cottonwood County, to Henry and Ella (Nickel) Karow. He attended rural school and joined the U.S. Army in 1945 serving in the Philippine Islands. Following his discharge in 1946, he returned to farming. He married Wahneeta Graff on Jan. 21, 1950, at Wright. He worked for L and S Construction for 12 years while he also farmed. He had been a lifetime member of the Red Rock United Methodist Church. He became a resident of the Sunwood Care Center in 1993.

Mildred Blumhoefer, 75, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000, at the Sunwood Care Center in Redwood Falls.
Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today and 7:30-8 a.m. Tuesday at Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax. Visitation will continue one hour before services at the church. There will be a Fairfax VFW Auxiliary service at 5:30 p.m., a rosary service at 6:30 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral chapel.
She is survived by her husband, Clarence Blumhoefer of Fairfax; daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Dave Lee of Willmar, Deb and Dave Ecker of Champlin, Becki and Al Bender of Faribault, Lynn and Todd Peterson of Hector; sons and daughters-in-law, Byron and Lana Blumhoefer of Prior Lake, Bruce and Loretta Blumhoefer of Salem, Ala.; 12 grandchildren; sister, Arlene Krambeer of New Ulm; brother and sister-in-law, Edwin and Eleanor Mertz of Sleepy Eye; brother-in-law, Norman Lambrecht of New Ulm and also many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death her parents and a sister Adella Lambrecht.
She was born Feb. 14, 1925, to Jacob and Katie (Flor) Mertz in Sigel Township.
She was a 1942 graduate of Holy Trinity High School in New Ulm and Normal Training in New Ulm. She taught school in Cottonwood and Milford Townships for six years. She held part-time jobs at Woolworth's and Weneeda Cafe and also as a cashier at George's Ballroom in New Ulm.
She married Clarence Blumhoefer on Aug. 10, 1949, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. They farmed in Wellington Township, Renville County. She was a homemaker and a part-time substitute teacher. The couple retired from farming in 1990. She was a resident of the Sunwood Care Center in Redwood Falls for the past week. She was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax, where she belonged to St. Ann's Aid. She also belonged to the Fairfax VFW Auxiliary Post 8459 and the Catholic Order of Foresters.
