Angela 'Gela' Homan, 89, a resident of the Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye and formerly of Fairfax, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the church and will continue for one hour prior to services at the church Thursday.
A combined rosary will be prayed by the St. Mary's Catholic Aid Society and the St. Anne's Society at 6 p.m. and there will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m., both Wednesday evening at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax.
Minnesota Valley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth "Betty" and Norbert M. Portner of New Ulm, Dorothy Wersal of LeCenter and Agnes and Richard Mathiowetz of Fairfax; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerome "Jerry" and Gladys Homan of Hutchinson; daughter-in-law, Delores Werner of Redwood Falls; 23 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Frank Beck of Mapleton; also by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Homan, a son, Cletus Homan; three grandchildren, Karen Mathiowetz, Daniel Mathiowetz, and Billy Wersal; a great granddaughter, Annissa Bryn Ryberg; sisters, Gertrude Liebl, Mary Kortz, and Rose Blumhoefer; and by brothers, Joseph, Henry, Benedict, John, William, and Alexander Schweiss.
She was born Dec. 6, 1911, in Martinsburg Township, Renville County to George and Mary (Wendinger) Schweiss. She attended country school in Martinsburg Township, Renville County. On Sept. 17, 1935, she married Bernard Homan at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax. They farmed in rural St. Leo for three years, then farmed in Martinsburg Township, Renville County until retiring in 1968. They then moved into Fairfax. She has been a resident of the Divine Providence Community Home since June of 1997. She was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax, St. Mary's Catholic Aid Society, and the St. Anne's Society.

Lucille Hyne, 85, of Redwood Falls, formerly of Beaver Dam, Wisc., died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, at Sunwood Good Samaritan Home, Redwood Falls.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. today at Nelson Funeral Home, Redwood Falls, with a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam.
She is survived by daughter, Julie and husband, Lonnie Sutton of Redwood Falls; two grandchildren; one great grandchild; sister, Dorothy Amberson of Beaver Dam; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother.
She was born May 31, 1915, in Westford Township, Dodge County, Wisc., to William and Stella (Schmidt) Frank. She attended St. Peter's Catholic School and Beaver Dam High School. She married Clifford Hyne Sept. 2, 1939, in Beaver Dam, where she lived until 1996, when she moved to Redwood Falls. She worked at Weyenberg Shoe Factory, retiring in 1977. She was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

Winston Venable, 76, of Redwood Falls, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000 at Sunwood Good Samaritan Home, Redwood Falls.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Redwood Falls, with burial in Crestlawn Cemetery, Redwood Falls.
Full military honors will be conducted at the cemetery.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at Nelson Funeral Home, Redwood Falls, and will continue one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; son Winston and wife Rosie of Redwood Falls; two grandchildren; sisters, Doris Sams of King, N.C., and Janie Ingram of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Aldyne, William, and Thomas.
He was born Oct. 19, 1924, in Stokes County, N.C., to Warren and wife Mary (Burge) Venable. He attended Pilot Mountain Public High School in North Carolina, graduating in 1942. He married Evelyn Schmidt Aug. 7, 1951, in Denver, Colo.
He joined the United States Army in 1944 and served in the 28th Infantry Division during World War II.
In 1947, he joined the United States Air Force, serving in Security and Law Enforcement.
He was one of General Eisenhower's personal body guards.
He received the Bronze Star.
He retired July 1, 1973, after 30 years in the military.
He was a member of American Legion Post 38 and Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Redwood Falls.

Lester Hageman, 87, of Springfield, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, at Springfield Medical center.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Springfield, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield, and will continue one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Selma; daughters, Margaret and husband Leonard Berberich of Comfrey, Karen and husband, Gerald Stanley of Shawnee, Kan., and Karol Schachtele of Burnsville; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Emma Hageman and Lucille Gatzlaff, both of Springfield; brother-in-law Norman and wife Esther Gatzlaff of Springfield; and nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Evan, Reuben, and Albert; sisters-in-law Opal Hageman and Adeline Gatzlaff; sisters Hilda Kolberg, and Bernice; brothers-in-law Jule Kolberg; Ervin Gatzlaff, and August Gatzlaff; grandson Tracey Berberich.
He was born May 26, 1913, in Stately Township, Brown County, to August and Emma (Steffen) Hageman.
He attended school near his home and worked on the farm with his father. He married Selma Gatzlaff May 4, 1939, in Stately Township. He moved to Springfield in 1975.
He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Springfield.
He was a member of the steering committee for Mounds Creek and Dam.

Lucille Schuft, 77, of Gaylord, died Monday, Dec. 25, 2000, at Gaylord Lakeview Home.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Gaylord, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Thursday at Egesdal Funeral Home, Gaylord, and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
She is survived by her husband Melvin; children, Ruth Ann Grewe and husband LeRoy of rural Gaylord, Arden and wife Barb of Gaylord, and Wanda and husband Steve Schwanke of Glencoe; brother Ellsworth and wife, Donna Hahn of Gaylord; 10 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She was born Nov. 4, 1923, in Dryden Township, Sibley County, to Martin A. and Alma (Sylvester) Hahn. She married Melvin Schuft May 12, 1946, in Gaylord. They lived and farmed in Dryden Township, Sibley County. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Gaylord, the Altar Guild and Ladies Aid. She was a member of New Auburn Senior Citizens.

Sheri Ubl, 38, of St. Paul Park and formerly of New Ulm died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester.
Mass of Christian burial is 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-11 a.m. Thursday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Sheri is survived by her husband, Steve J. Ubl of St. Paul Park; daughter, Katie and son, Dan, both at home; parents, Alfred, Jr. "Fritz" and Lillian Aschenbrenner of New Ulm; brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Teresa Aschenbrenner of rural Sleepy Eye; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mike and Laura Ubl of Lakeville, Pat and Barb Ubl of New Ulm, George and Rose Ubl of Hayward, Calif., Bill and Wanda Ubl of New Ulm, Marge and Ben Tolles of Clontarf, Mary Ubl of Minneapolis, Jane Ubl of Mankato; and by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents; mother-in-law and father-in-law, James and Dorothy Ubl.
She was born on June 13, 1962 in New Ulm to Alfred Jr. and Lillian (Schroepfer) Aschenbrenner.
She attended Catholic schools in New Ulm and graduated from Cathedral High School in 1980.
On August 7, 1982, she married Steve J. Ubl at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm.
They lived in New Ulm for five years. She had worked at Minnesota Valley Testing Laboratories (M.V.T.L.) and Fischer Drug in New Ulm.
They moved to the Twin Cities area in 1987 and moved to St. Paul Park in December of 1988.
She worked at Land O Lakes in Arden Hills as a legal secretary for the past 13 years.

Robert E. Boerner, 68, of Weslaco, Texas, and formerly of Arlington, died Tuesday Dec. 26, 2000, at Weslaco.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church in Arlington, with burial in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
Visitation is 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday at the church.
Fenske Funeral Home, Arlington, handled arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Boerner of Weslaco, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Lisa Boerner of Waconia; daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Jeffrey Priess of Waconia; brothers and sister-in-law, Kenneth Boerner of Champlin, Keith and Carol Boerner of Moorhead; and grandchildren, Matthew and Jonathon Priess, and Adam Boerner.
He was preceded in death by parents; and brother, Donald.
He was born Dec. 13, 1932, in Arlington.
He graduated from Glencoe High School in 1951.
He serviced in the Korean Conflict from June 1951 until 1955.
He married Carol Sackett on Jan. 8, 1960, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Auburn.
He worked at Mueller Brothers Ford in Arlington and the Big Stone Canning company.
After retirement in 1994, he lived in northern Minnesota in the summers and in Weslaco, Texas, in the winter. He was trustee of Immanuel Lutheran church in Mercedes, Texas.

Thomas Bode, 46, of Mankato, died Monday, Dec. 25, 2000, at his home.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church, Mankato.
Visitation will be at the church Thursday, one hour prior to the service.
Arrangements are being handled by Mankato Mortuary.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Bode of Mankato; stepdaughter Jessica Sandstrom and special friend Jason McGinley of Minneapolis; granddaughter, Jezayah McGinley; father and mother, Loren "Pete" and Lois Bode of New Ulm; maternal grandmother, Veronica Zieske of New Ulm; brother and sister-in-law, Troy and Rachel of New Ulm; sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Ron Enter of Buffalo; stepbrothers, stepsisters, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his mother, June Bode; paternal grandparents and a maternal grandfather.
He was born July 13, 1954, in New Ulm to Loren "Pete" and June Mae (Zieske) Bode.
After graduation from Nicollet High School, he worked at Cotter & Company of Mankato since 1976 until 1994 when he retired due to ill health.
He married JoAnn Sandstrom on July 16, 1982, in North Mankato.

Wendelin 'Scotty' A. Nosbush ROCHESTER -- Wendelin "Scotty" A. Nosbush, 81, of Marshall, formerly of St. George, died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000, at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Clotilde's Catholic Church, Green Valley, with burial at 3 p.m. St. Andrew's Catholic Cemetery, Fairfax.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at the church and 9-11 a.m. Thursday at the church. A parish prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. today.
Arrangements are handled by Rehkamp Funeral Home, Marshall.
He is survived by his wife, Rachel of Marshall; daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Ralph Pearson of Grove City, Patricia and Roger Buboltz of Redwood Falls; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Rondee and Leroy, both of Fairfax and Bradley and Sara of Nicollet; brothers and sisters-in-law, Alphonse of Taunton, Lawrence and Marie of New Ulm, Aloysious and Dorothy of Canby and Ambrose and Jean of Fairfax; a sister, Sister Edna of Mankato; stepsons and daughters-in-law, William and Marsha Minnehan of Farmington, Clayton and Barb Minnehan and Michael and Kathy Minnehan, both of Slayton, and Richard Minnehan of Marshall; sister-in-law, Magdalene of Portland, Ore.; and 19 grandchildren.
Memorials are preferred to the School Sisters of Notre Dame Retirement Fund.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Bernice; sisters, Sister M. Ancilla, Sister M. Lorraine and Sister Mary Bertha; an infant brother Ambrose and brother Otto and Joseph.
He was born March 15, 1919, in St. Leo to Peter and Sophia (Eischens) Nosbush. He grew up in St. Leo.
He left the family farm in 1938 and moved to the Fairfax area and worked for farmers.
He bought his own farm in 1955.
He married Bernice Binder on June 30, 1956, in St. George. They farmed and were members of St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Fairfax.
She died Oct. 7, 1976.
He married Rachel Minnehan on Nov. 5, 1988 in Green Valley.
They lived in Marshall.
He was a member of Solo Parents, the Weiner Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and State Auxiliary Board.

Gertrude Nagel, 91, of Arlington, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000, at Arlington Good Samaritan Center.
Services will be at noon, Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Arlington Township, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 10 a.m.-noon Thursday at the church.
Fenske Funeral Home of Arlington is handling the arrangements.
She is survived by her sister, Esther Lieske of Henderson and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and five brothers.
She was born May 1, 1909, in Arlington Township, to Martin and Rosina (Soeffker) Nagel. She attended District 16 schools and the Day Activity Center (DAC) in Arlington for 20 years. She lived with her aunt and uncle, the Helen and Harry Schneider family. She moved to the Arlington Good Samaritan Center in 1985.

Victor M. Prescher, 76, of Arlington died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000, at Arlington Good Samaritan Center.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Arlington with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church. Fenske Funeral Home of Arlington is handling the arrangements.
He is survived by his son Jeffrey and wife Gail Prescher of Rochester; daughter Vicki and her husband Rodger McQuarrie of Prior Lake, special friend Glenda Effertz of Green Isle; brothers and sisters-in-law, Herb and Jan of New Richland, Bob and Lori Mapleton, Pearl Prescher of Wells; sister-in-law Rita Prescher of Mapleton; sisters, Dorothy Proehl of Mapleton, Eleanor Possin of Hartland, Alice and Bob Dilcher of Carthage, Mo., Marion Nagel of Blue Earth, Shirley Eckart of Mapleton; brother-in-law Kenneth Evans of Lewiston; and grandchildren Jason and Brian Prescher and Karina and Kevin McQuarrie.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marilyn; brothers Adrian, Harold Roscoe and Evertt Prescher; and sister, Jan Wentland.
He was born Feb. 8, 1924, to Julius and Martha (Martin) Prescher in Blue Earth.
He attended country school.
He worked for Nagel Packing and Big Stone Canning Company in Arlington.
After retiring in the late 1980s he transported veterans to the V.A. Hospital. He married Marilyn Clausen on March 1, 1949, at the Mapleton Lutheran Church.
She preceded him in death on Dec. 13, 1985. He was a member of the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Green Isle Lions Club.

Wallace Gullickson, 77, of Redwood Falls, formerly of Belview, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, at Sunwood Good Samaritan Center, Redwood Falls.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church, Belview, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Monday at Redwood Valley Funeral Home, Redwood Falls, and at the church, one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Gordon and Arlene of Hopkins, Robert and Lois of Sacred Heart; sisters and brothers-in-law, Florence and Lavern Davis of Wabasso, Lorraine and Dennis Kasten of Redwood Falls; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Hazel, brother-in-law Arden Mock and brother Arthur.
He was born Sept. 25, 1923, in Sacred Heart to George and Julia (Forkrud) Gullickson.
He attended country school north of Belview.
He was drafted into the U.S. Army in August of 1944 and served in France and Germany until July of 1946. He returned home and farmed in the Belview/Delhi area. He belonged to the Belview American Legion.
