William Muenchow, 50, of Wabasso, died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2001, at the Redwood Falls Hospital.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Wabasso, with burial in New Avon Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Redwood Valley Funeral Home, Redwood Falls, and one hour prior to services at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn; daughters and son-in-law, Christine and David Palmer, and Maree Muenchow, all of Wabasso; son, William C. IV, of Wabasso; and sisters and brothers-in-law, LaDonna Bode of Courtland, Gloria and Glen St. Cyr of Fridley, and Barbara and Charlie Graveline of Naperville, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother-in-law, Marvin Bode.
He was born March 4, 1950, in Redwood Falls, to William Muenchow II and Mabel Kloempken. He graduated from Wabasso High School in 1968. He attended Alexandria VoTech where he studied law enforcement. He married Lynn Berg on Aug. 23, 1969, in Willow Lake Township. He was police chief in Clara City and a Redwood County Deputy Sheriff. He lived in Walnut Grove, Redwood Falls and New Avon Township. He was elected Redwood County Sheriff in November 1998. He belonged to the Minnesota Sheriffs Association and the National Sheriffs Association. He was a former member of Resurrection Lutheran Church, where he served as a trustee and on the youth council. He was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Wabasso.

Helen T. (Mrs. Floyd) Saffert, 74, of 811 N. State St. in New Ulm, died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2001, at the Good Samaritan Center, Arlington.
Mass of Christian burial is 11a.m. Thursday at Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, New Ulm, with burial in the New Ulm City Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, New Ulm. The Christian Mothers Society will pray the rosary at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Cathedral. The St. Elizabeth's Catholic Aid Council will pray the rosary at 6:30 p.m., and there will be a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Ann Marie and Randy Griebel and Barbara and Pat Ubl, all of New Ulm, Mary and Bill Rudell of Rapid City, S.D., and Marg and Larry Thompson of Farmington; son Stephen Saffert and his special friend Tammy Posusta, both of Hutchinson; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and sisters, Marie Hoffman of St. George and Aggie Vetter of New Ulm.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd J. Saffert on Feb. 10, 1995; a great grandson Jacob Schabert; and sisters, Lucy Baumann, Anna Mohr and Rose Baumann.
She was born Aug. 24, 1926, in West Newton Township, Nicollet County, to Bernard J. and Emma (Match) Vetter. She married Floyd J. Saffert on Sept. 25, 1950, at Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, New Ulm. They lived in New Ulm were she was a homemaker and a mother. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, St. Elizabeth's Catholic Aid Council and Christian Mothers Society. She delivered meals on wheels.

Grace Moe, 98, of Springfield, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at St. John's Lutheran Home, Springfield.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Springfield United Methodist Church, with burial in the city cemetery.
Visitation is 8:30-9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Home Chapel, Springfield, and will continue 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield, is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by son, Roger and wife Kay of Springfield; grandchildren, Debra Kemper of Chippewa Falls, Wis., Jean and husband Carlos Knakmuhs of Walnut Grove, Rick and wife Deb of Spring Valley, and Trent and wife Amy Moe of Springfield; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Emmanuel and William Krueger; and sisters, Ella and Kay.
She was born July 16, 1902, in North Star Township, Brown County, to Adolph and Josephine (Plagge) Krueger. She attended rural schools, and worked with her parents at home. She married Arthur Moe on Sept. 6, 1932, in New Ulm. They moved to Burnstown Township, where they farmed until moving to Springfield in 1952. She moved to St. John Lutheran Home in 1992. She was a former member of Evangelical United Brethren Church, a long-time member of Springfield United Methodist Church, a member of United Methodist Women, and served in the Home Extension Group.

Duane 'Bud' Richter, 66, of 909 3rd North St., New Ulm, died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2001, at his home.
Service are 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Ulm, with burial in the Lutheran Cemetery, New Ulm.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30- 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, New Ulm, and for one hour prior services at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia "Mickey" Richter of New Ulm; daughters-and sons-in-law, Becky and Mike Groebner of New Ulm, Georgia "Joie" May of Eden Prairie, Sherry and Jeff Rose of New Ulm, and Shelly Berg of New Ulm; four grandchildren; his mother, Hilda Richter of New Ulm; and brothers and sister-in-law, Craig "Sonny" and Denise Richter of New Ulm, and Lee Minnick of Engelwood, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his father, John "Hans" Richter, Jr. and by a grandson, Wesley Drahota.
He was born June 3, 1934, in New Ulm, to John "Hans" Jr. and Hilda (Cordes) Richter. He attended grade school at St. Paul's Lutheran School in New Ulm and graduated from the New Ulm Public High School. He married Virginia "Mickey" Liebl on Aug. 21, 1954, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Ulm. He worked for the New Ulm Theatre, the Wearwell Garment Factory and for Kemske Paper Company, retiring in 1996. He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Ulm Bowling Council, New Ulm Bowling Association, New Ulm Baseball Association. He was inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame and the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Arthur Lee, 79, of Fairfax, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at Fairfax Community Home.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Fairfax, with burial in Fort Ridgely and Dale Cemetery, Fairfax.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Thursday and 8-9 a.m. Friday at Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel, Fairfax, and one hour prior to services at the church.

Arthur L. Lee, 79, of Fairfax, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at Fairfax Community Home in Fairfax.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Fairfax with burial in Fort Ridgely and Dale Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Fairfax American Legion.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax and continues one hour before service Friday at the church.
He is survived by his daughter, Ruth-Ann Burghardi and her husband Steve of Eden Prairie; step-sons, Steve Dale of Apple Valley, and Charles Dale of Hutchinson; nine grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Patty Dale; brothers, Gordon Lee and his wife Bev, Melvin Lee, and Oscar Lee; sisters, May Belle Lerstad, Selma Rosvold, and Ella Wilson; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Minnie Lee, and brothers, Eldred Lee and Elmer Lee.
Arthur Lawrence Lee was born Nov. 14, 1921 in Camp Township, Renville County, to Samuel and Minnie (Jacobson) Lee. He attended country and Fairfax High School.
He served in the United States Army in World War II from 1942 to 1946. He resided in Minneapolis, and was employed as a sheet metal worker. He also farmed in the Franklin area and later held employment in Redwood Falls and New Ulm as a sheet metal worker. He lived in Assisted Living in Fairfax and had been a resident of Fairfax Community Home for the past year.

James Smith, 59, of Lake Lillian, St. James City, Fla., and formerly of Redwood Falls, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2001, at Lee County memorial Hospital, Cape Coral, Fla.
Services are 10:30 a.m. today at First Presbyterian Church, Redwood Falls. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; daughters, Suzie Brusoe and husband Ron of Oakdale, Pam Iverson and husband Gary of Redwood Falls, and Barb Miest and husband Chris of St. Peter; seven grandchildren; brother, Rick and wife Kathy of New Ulm; and sisters, Kathy and husband Harry Love of Bakersfield, Calif., Betty Kay and husband Jim Christensen of Westminster, Colo., and Peggy and husband Rick Nelson of Madelia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother Thomas.
He was born Oct. 14, 1941, in Madelia, to Walter and Dorothy (Martin) Smith. He attended high school in Madelia, and college at Kansas State University and Marshall College. He owned Redwood Concrete Products until 1997. He married Shirley Rick on July 28, 1962. They lived in Redwood Falls until 1997, when they moved to Big Kandiyohi Lake near Lake Lillian. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Redwood Falls, the Lions Club, Masonic Lodge, Boy Scouts, and Redwood Falls Chamber of Commerce.

Myron Fuhr, 86, of Sheridan Township, Redwood County, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, in the Sunwood Good Samaritan Care Center in Redwood Falls.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church in Redwood Falls with burial in the Redwood Falls Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Monday and continues Tuesday one hour prior to services at the church.

Memorials are preferred to the First Presbyterian Church Building Fund in Redwood Falls.
He is survived by sons, Arlan and wife Judy of Phoenix, Ariz., Darrell and wife Sandy of Redwood Falls, and David of Wabasso; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Allen in 1939; his wife, Ceceila in 1984, and daughter-in-law, Mary in 1999.
Myron Lloyd Fuhr was born Feb. 11, 1914, in Sheridan Township, Redwood County, to Leonard and Laura (France) Fuhr. He farmed with his family in Sheridan Township. He attended school in Seaforth. He married Ceceila Engel on Jan. 19,1939, in Mankato. He served on the school board at Wabasso. He served on the Seaforth elevator board for more than 40 years. He was a member and elder in the Presbyterian churches in Seaforth, Wabasso, and active member in First Presbyterian Church in Redwood Falls. He delivered Meals on Wheels. He and his wife moved to Redwood Falls in 1978.

George Mosenden, 84, of Hanska, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at Madelia Community Hospital.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church, Hanska, with burial in the church cemetery with military rites performed by New Ulm veterans organizations.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Firle Funeral Home, Hanska, and will continue one hour prior to services Friday at the church.

Mae Ann Waldner, 69, of Lino Lakes, formerly of Hector, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at her daughter's home in Lino Lakes.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hector, with burial in Hector City Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Hughes Funeral Home, Hector, and will continue one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.

Olive Law, 92, of Redwood Falls, formerly of Morgan, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at Sunwood Good Samaritan Center, Redwood Falls.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at United Methodist Church, Morgan, with burial in Morgan City Cemetery.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Nelson Funeral Home, Morgan, and will continue one hour prior to services Friday at the church.
She is survived by daughter, Mary of Redwood Falls; son, Janard and wife Gwendolyn of Coon Rapids; three grandchildren; brother, Harry Vruwink and wife Margaret of Barron, Wis.; sister, Elva Vergeront and husband Robert of Madison, Wis.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband, Lyle; sisters, Jeanette and Mabel Vruwink and Frieda DeWolf; and brother, Donald Vruwink.
She was born July 20, 1908, in Cedar Grobe, Wis., to Albert and Mary (Meylink) Vruwink. She moved with her family to Baldwin, Wis. at the age of two, She graduated from Baldwin High School in 1925 and attended the University of Wisconsin, River Falls. She married Lyle Law on March 16, 1940, in Northwood, Iowa. She taught rural school in Baldwin and Osceola, Wis. They moved to Morgan in 1945, where she taught school. She moved to Johnson Place, Redwood Falls, in 1996 and to Sunwood Good Samaritan Center in 2000. She was a member of United Methodist Church, Morgan, and the United Methodist Women.

George Wilcox, 74, of Madelia, died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2001, at Madelia Community Hospital.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Pilgrim Funeral Home, Madelia, with burial in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Visitation is one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce; sons, Earl of Stone Ridge, N.Y., Dwight of Forest Lake, Wayne of Minneapolis; daughter, Kim Robinett and husband Gary of Abilene, Texas; six grandchildren; sisters, Thelma "Peggy" Ebuna and husband G.M. of Commerce City, Colo., Amy Anderson of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Alice Redwing of Watertown, S.D.
He was preceded in death by brother, Samuel and sister, Faye.
He was born Sept. 3, 1926, in Ridgedale, Saskatchewan, Canada, to Albert and Claire (Miller) Wilcox. He grew up in Parkersburg, W.Va., where he attended school. He graduated from high school in 1944. He served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1947 and 1951 to 1953. He married Joyce Wheat on May 31, 1951, in Watertown, S.D. He attended South Dakota State University, where he received his master's degree. They moved to Madelia, where he taught and worked as a guidance counselor for 20 years. In 1978 he opened Wilcox Bike and Moped, which operated for 21 years. He was a member of Madelia United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge, Madelia Chamber of Commerce, and National Reform Party. He served as a lay minister in Madison Lake for several years and volunteered in community activities.

He is survived by his wife, Gervaise; sons and daughters-in-law, Rob and Cindy of Hanska, Larry and Cheryl of Hanska, Daryl and Sheila of Madelia, and David and Yvette of Hanska; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Joan Mosenden of Hanska, June Frederickson and husband Ken of Hanska, Betty Petersen of Scottsdale, Ariz., Arlene Midtbruget of Morgan, and Elaine Midtbruget of Mankato; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Louie, Hilmer, and Maynard; and sisters, Harriet Broste and Glenna Biloff.
He was born Jan. 9, 1917, in Lake Hanska Township, to Ingvald and Hanna (Hanson) Mosenden. He entered the United States Army Air Corps in July 1942, serving as Financial Technical Clerk. Following his discharge in October 1945, he returned to Hanska. He married Gervaise Midtbruget on June 21, 1946, in Hanska. He worked at the Brown County Treasurer's Office, Standard Oil, as Hanska City Clerk, and he was a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Hanska, and the American Legion.

She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Gail of New Ulm; daughters and son-in-law, Becky and Jerry Lingl of Forest Lake, and Wendy Waldner of Lino Lakes; three grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Swede and Carmie Lenz of California; sisters and brother-in-law, Gracie Patton of Colorado, and Arlene and Ben Chastain of California; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; several siblings; and grandson Jason.
She was born May 28, 1931, in Gibbon, to Julius and Anne (Berger) Lenz. She married Gene Waldner. She worked for various community businesses and was the owner of Mazy's Cafe, Gibbon, for several years. She lived in Hector until moving in with her daughter in Lino Lakes nine months ago.

James H. 'Jim' Pederson, 81, of 710 N. State St., New Ulm, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at his home.
Mass of Christian burial is 11 a.m. Saturday at Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, New Ulm, with burial in the New Ulm City Cemetery, Soldiers Rest Section. Full military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by New Ulm veterans organizations.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday and 7:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, New Ulm. St. Patrick's Council of the Knights of Columbus will pray the rosary at 6:30 p.m., and there will be a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Monica, a resident of the Our Lady of the Angels Care Center in Cannon Falls; daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanne and Pete Rodel of Paynesville, and Joyce and Michael Wilson of Randolph; sons and daughters-in-law, Martin and Cathy, of New Orleans, La., Tom and Beverly of Lake City, and Dave and Sue of Minneapolis; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Cynthia Stevens of Howard, S.D., and Lola MacDonnell of St. Paul; and brothers and sisters-in-law, George and Judy of Princeton, and Eilert and Audrey of Brooklyn Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Jimmy and Marvin; a sister; a sister in infancy; and two brothers.
He was born June 10, 1919, in Nashua, to Edwin and Hannah (Christianson) Pederson. He attended Augustana College in South Dakota. He married Monica Sanders on Feb. 22, 1941, at St. John's Catholic Church in Hector. He served in the U.S. Army in 1942-1945, as a radio operator in Italy and North Africa. After his discharge they lived in Hector, where he worked as an apprentice watchmaker/jeweler. They moved to Northfield in 1962 where he owned and operated his own jewelry store. They moved to New Ulm in 1968 where he worked for Patrick's Jewelry, Beck's Jewelry and then Patterson's Jewelry. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, St. Patrick's Council of the Knights of Columbus, and the Seifert-Bianchi American Legion Post 132, New Ulm. He was a past commander of the Legion Post in Northfield.
