Gertrude Becker, 89, of Belview, formerly of Redwood Falls, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at Redwood Falls Hospital.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Redwood Falls. Burial will be in Crestlawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Nelson Funeral Home, Redwood Falls, is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her children, Gerald and his wife, Karen Becker, of Roseville, Kay Anderson of Topeka, Kan.; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Alvin Pedersen of Belview.
She was preceded in death by per husband, Clifford Becker on May 13, 1978; eight brothers and sisters. Memorials may be given to St. John's Lutheran School, Redwood Falls.
She was born Aug. 15, 1911, in Delhi, to Albert H. and Anna (Olson) Pedersen. She grew up in Delhi, graduating from Delhi High School and from Mankato College with a teaching degree. She taught in rural schools in the Redwood Falls area. She married Clifford Becker on June 29, 1938, in Belview. They moved to Wylie. In 1952, they moved to Thief River Falls, where they owned and operated the T-59 Motel. They sold the business and retired to Redwood Falls in 1970. Her husband died in 1978, and she continued to live in Redwood Falls until moving to Belview in 1999. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Redwood Falls, and a past member of the Ladies Aid in Thief River Falls.

Dorothy Haugen, 76, of St. James, died Jan. 20, 2001, at St. James Health Services Hospital.
Services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at East Sveadahl Lutheran Church, St. James. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30-11 a.m. Wednesday at Sturm Funeral Home, St. James; and continues one one hour prior to services at the church.
She is survived by daughters, Mary, and husband, Bill Stephenson of Aurora, Colo., Nancy Haugen of Jackson, Annette Haugen of Watertown, N.Y.; sister, Ruth Hanson of Butterfield; brother, Raynold and wife, Helen Anderson of Lake Crystal, six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by parents; stepmother, Ann (Tillman) Anderson; husband, Elward; and other relatives.
She was born Nov. 8, 1924, in St. James, to Alfred O. and Ellen (Lundstrum) Anderson. She grew up in St. James, attending District 58. She graduated from St. James High School. On Dec. 30, 1947, she married Elward Ivanhoe Haugen at East Sveadahl Lutheran Church in St. James. She worked as a nursing assistant at St. James Catholic Hospital, Watonwan Memorial Hospital, and as a trained medical aide at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Home for 34 years. She was a member of East Sveadahl Lutheran Church, belonging to Evangelical Lutheran Women and the prayer chain, the Christian Women's Bible study, and Church Women United. She also was a member of the local Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Ellingsburg Zoettle Post 1914 and was a past chaplain of the women's VFW auxiliary.

Gervaise Mosenden, 80, of Hanska, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at her home.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church, Hanska. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today and 7:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Firle Funeral Home, Hanska, and one hour prior to services at the church.
She is survived by sons, Rob and wife, Cindy Mosenden, of Hanska, Larry and wife, Cheryl Mosenden of Hanska, Daryl and wife, Sheila Mosenden of Madelia, Dave and wife, Yvette Mosenden of Hanska; 12 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Petersen of Scottsdale, Ariz., June Frederickson and husband, Ken of Hanska; sisters-in-law, Joan Mosenden of Hanska of Hanska, Arlene Midtbruget of Morgan, Elaine Midtbruget of Mankato; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George, on Jan. 16, 200; brothers, David Midtbruget and Louis Midtbruget Jr., and sister, Imogene Frederickson.
She was born Oct. 23, 1920, in Echo, to Louis and Borghild (Hugget) Midtbruget. At age one, she moved with her family to Hanska. She graduated from Hanska High School in 1938. She attended beauty school in the Twin Cities and returned to Hanska, where she opened Gervaise's Beauty Nook. She married George Mosenden on June 21, 1946, at Zion Lutheran Church, Hanska. They lived in Hanska, where she continued to work as a beautician and also provided hairdressing service for the former Johnson Funeral Home in Hanska. She began working for 3M in New Ulm in 1970 and retired in 1982. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Hanska, her church circle, and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Duane Wilson, 72, of Glencoe died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2001, at St. Gertrude's Health Care Center.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. today at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Glencoe. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel, Glencoe, handled arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Wilson of Glencoe; sons, David Wilson and wife, Mary, of Robbinsdale, Calvin Wilson and wife, Laurie, of Carver; daughter, Susan Falk and husband, Dennis, of Sanborn; five grandchildren; brother, Warren Wilson and wife, Ives, of New Ulm; sisters, Lila Rolloff of New Ulm, Edith Fritsche and husband, Leon, of New Ulm, Shirley Glaser and husband, Ronald, of Blaine, Carol Heidmann of Baxter; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Marvin Wilson, Gerald Wilson Jr., and Vernon Wilson.
He was born Feb. 19, 1928, in New Ulm, to Gerald and Malinda (Engel) Wilson. He attended New Ulm Public School. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1946 and served until January 1947. He received the World War II Victory Medal, Honorable Service lapel button and the Navy honorable discharge button. On June 8, 1951, he married Frances Schauer at St. John's Lutheran Church, Helen Township. They lived in the Glencoe area from 1951 until 1999, when he moved into Valleyview Health Center, then into Gertrude's Health Center in May 2000. He was a member of the Men's Club at First Lutheran, the New Auburn Fire Department, AAL Federation Board, AAL Lamplighter, the Glencoe Diabetes Club, the Glen Goers Square Dance Club and the Lions Club.

Allan James Hansen, 40, of Pea Ridge, Ark., died Jan. 14, 2001, at Benton Nursing Home, Benton, Ark.
Services will be held in Litchfield at a later date.
He is survived by his mother Helen of Pea Ridge; sisters, Carol Matter of Neveda, Iowa, and Mary Ray of Phoenix, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his father Eugene; and sister Donna LaVan.
He was born March 22, 1960, in New Ulm, to Helen and Eugene Hansen. He attended school in New Ulm. He moved to Prescott, Ariz., in 1978.

Duane Gerth, 62, of North Mankato, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001, at his home.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Firle Funeral Home, New Ulm, with burial in the city cemetery.
Visitation is 9 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
He is survived by his parents; an aunt; and cousins.
He was born Sept. 1, 1938, near Sanborn, to Harold and Valeria (Missling) Gerth. He grew up on the family farm. They moved to New Ulm in 1972, where he worked for MRCI. He lived with his parents until Oct. 1983, when he moved to North Mankato. He worked for MRCI and Mexican Village, Mankato. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, North Mankato.

Todd Williams, 37, of Morgan, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001 at home.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Morgan, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today with a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, Morgan, and will continue one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
He is survived by his parents, Donald and Carol of Morgan; sister, Sandy Weerts and husband Craig of Springfield; brother Jesse of Eagan; and nephews, Robert and Austin Nash of Springfield.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
He was born July 4, 1963, in Redwood Falls, to Donald and Carol (Kretsch) Williams. He attended St. Michael's Catholic School and Morgan High School, graduating in 1981. He graduated from Willmar Vo-Tech in 1988. He worked at a grocery store for 10 years. He had been disabled since 1992. He drove the sober car and was involved in helping people by delivering groceries and driving the elderly to appointments.

Helen Epple, 71, of New Ulm, passed away Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at the home of her sister, Catherine Quinn, in Hudson, Wis.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, with burial in the Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30-10 a.m. Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.
There will be a parish prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
She is survived by her sisters and brother-in-law, Mary and Donald Johnstone of St. Paul, and Catherine Quinn of Hudson, Wis.; a brother, Paul Epple of Mora; 13 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Mildred (Eibner) Epple; and a brother-in-law, Donald Quinn.
Helen was born April 21, 1929, in New Ulm to Elmer and Mildred (Eibner) Epple. A lifetime resident of New Ulm, Helen worked at MRCI and then participated in the E.A.S.E. Program (Employment and Social Enrichment) activities until the fall of 2000.
After her mother died in 1985, Helen lived semi-independently for three years in her home and then for 12 years at the Realife Cooperative in New Ulm.
She was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm.

Rita D. Brunner, 63, of Duluth, formerly of New Ulm, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Dougherty Funeral Home, Duluth, with burial in New Ulm City Cemetery in the spring.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Friday and and one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
She is survived by her mother, Phyllis Meadowcroft, of Derby, England; a daughter, Deborah Kunnari of Duluth; sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony of Mountain Lake, David and Monique of Owatonna, Vincent of Brooklyn Park, Patrick of Owatonna, Bryan Brunner and Traci Knutson of Owatonna, Steven and Shannon of Forest Lake and Timothy and Jennifer of Darfur; brother, Patrick Quinn of Derby, England; sisters and brother-in-law, Iris "Frankie" Fetty of Bacliff, Texas, and Joan and Chas Hall of Winnipeg, Canada; 19 grandchildren and five great granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her father; husband, Willard in 1992; daughter, Sarah, and a granddaughter.
She was born Jan. 5, 1938, to Joseph and Phyllis (Quinn) Meadowcroft in Birmingham, England. She married William Brunner in March 1960 in England. They moved to New Ulm in 1961 and to St. James in 1970. She worked as a Nurse's Aide at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center for 20 years. She moved to Bacliff, Texas in 1990, to live near her sister. She worked as a retail health food manager. She moved to Duluth in 1999 to live with her daughter. She became a Certified Nurse's Assistant at age 62, studying at Lake Superior College. She was employed at the Lakeshore Lutheran Home.

Willard T. 'Bill' Manderfeld, 82, of New Hope, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001, at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.
Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Church of St. Raphael, Crystal, with burial in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Thursday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Gearty-Delmore Robbinsdale Chapel, 39th and West Broadway, Robbinsdale.
He is survived by his sons, Steve of St. Cloud, Greg of Maple Grove, Brian of Bolingbrook, Ill. and Scott of Andover; daughters, Cathy Hinman of Overland Park, Kan., and Mary Noyes of Brooklyn Center;16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Bernice and Melvin Schroeer of New Ulm, and a special friend Phyllis Petrokski of New Hope.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mabel in 1996.
He was born Nov. 16, 1918, in New Ulm to Edward and Margaret (Dorn) Manderfeld. He married Mabel Alwin on June 10, 1940, in New Ulm. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. They lived in St. Cloud in 1950-1962 and then in Minneapolis. He was a sales representative and district manager for Pennzoil Co. He was active in the Knights of Columbus.

Elmer 'Spike' Nehls, 87, of Las Vegas, formerly of New Ulm, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at his daughter's home in Las Vegas.
A combined memorial service will be held for him and his wife in New Ulm at a later date, following his wife's death.
Firle Funeral Home of New Ulm is handling the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Nehls, of Las Vegas; a son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Nancy of Palitine, Ill.; daughters and sons-in-law, Charles Stoltzman of Janesville, and Patricia and Richard Heymann of Las Vegas; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Ibberson of Sleepy Eye; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Norman; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was born Feb. 22, 1913, in New Ulm, to John and Amanda (Schlumpberger) Nehls. He attended St. Louis School of Nursing in St. Louis, Mo. He married Dorothy Belland on June 9, 1938, in New Ulm. They lived in Marshall and Waseca before moving to New Ulm, where he worked for Waseca Mutual Insurance Company. They lived in Las Vegas for the past 10 years. He belonged to St. Peter's Episcopal Church in New Ulm; Charity Lodge 98 A.F. & A.M. of New Ulm, the Zuhrah Shrine Temple in Minneapolis, New Ulm Toastmasters and many other local civic organizations.

Gerald Wendt, 75, of Mesa, Ariz.,formerly of Morgan, died Jan. 2, 2001, at his winter home in Mesa.
A memorial service was held in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho, Jan. 8.
He is survived by his wife Donna; daughter, Karon of Bloomington; son, Larry of Post Falls, Idaho; brother, Duane of Morgan; sisters and brothers-in-law, Doris of Morgan, and Pearl and Robert of Mountain Lake; sister-in-law and husband, Sally and Jerry Miles of Hayden, Idaho; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Waldon.
He was born Feb. 18, 1925, in Morgan, to Emil and Alma (Loose) Wendt. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1943. He married Donna Trueblood on Nov. 19, 1949, in Cour d' Alene. He earned an MBA from the University of Minnesota and taught in Morgan, Concordia College in St. Paul, the University of Chicago, and North Idaho College in Coeur d' Alene, where he later became business administrator until retiring in 1985. He worked as a part-time linotype operator at the Coeur d' Alene Press for many years. He was a charter member of the Coeur d' Alene Golf Club, and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Coeur d' Alene.

Matthew Kuttner, 3, of Stewart, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001, at Hutchinson Area Health Care Hospital.
Mass of the Holy Angels is at 10 a.m. Saturday, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Stewart, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Friday at Hughes Funeral Home, Stewart, with parish prayers at 7 p.m., and one hour prior to services at the church.
He is survived by his parents, Steven and Lorrie of Stewart; brother, Andrew of Stewart; paternal grandparents, Richard and Diane of Hutchinson; maternal grandparents, Fred and Gwen Peshman of Watertown, S.D.; paternal great grandparents, Elnora Johnson of Coon Rapids, and Frank and Francis Kuttner of Stewart; maternal great grandparents, Ione Borns of Watertown, S.D. and Tom Popham of Watertown, S.D.; and uncles and their families.
He was born Nov. 18, 1997, in Hutchinson, to Steven and Lorrie (Peshman) Kuttner.
