Imogene V. Nelson, 81, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Services will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Norseland Lutheran Church in Norseland, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 1 p.m. until the time of services at the church.
St. Peter Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by brother and sister-in-law, Ingvald and Margaret Annexstad of rural Norseland, sister and brother-in-law, Luella and Herb Monke of St. Peter, step-son Roland Nelson of Green Cove Springs, Fla., step-daughter Marilyn Freyholtz of New Ulm; sister-in-law Renee Annexstad of New Ulm, brother-in-law, Marlow Peterson of Madelia; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin in 1986, brother Howard, sister Harriet Peterson and step-daughter, Verdella.
She was born March 1, 1919, to Adolph L. and Mae (Lageson) Annexstad in Norseland. She attended Bethany College in Mankato.
She married Irvin Nelson in August 1945, at the Norseland Lutheran church in Norseland. They lived in Marquette, Mich. for several years. They then moved to rural St. Peter where they raised buffalos, llamas, peacocks and other exotic animals. Area schools would bus students to the farm for educational day trips. She worked for Green Giant and for many years at the food service at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter. She also did catering from her home. They held buffalo feeds at the farm, and during the Minnesota State Fair she had a booth serving buffalo burgers. She was a lifelong member of Norseland Lutheran Church and a member of the Ladies Aid.

Clara Anderson, 93, of Hector, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, at Burns Manor Nursing Home, Hutchinson.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at First Lutheran Church, Hector, with burial in the Hector City Cemetery.
Arrangements are with Hughes Funeral Home.
She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Hulda Witte and Muriel Ruona of Hector; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Sidney; brothers, Arthur, Alfred and Herbert; and sisters, Ottilie, Alma, Anna, Bertha, Elizabeth and Frieda.
She was born on Oct. 24, 1907, in Melville Township, Renville County, to Albert and Louisa (Borchart) Witte. She lived andworked in Minneapolis for many years before returning to Hector. She married Sidney Anderson on March 5, 1935, at First Lutheran Church, Hector. The couple farmed for 30 years, retired, then moved to Hector. She was in the church's Altar Guild, W.E.L.C.A., the Quilters, and the Community Women's Club. She was a seamstress. In 1999, she was named as the Hector Outstanding Citizen and was a participant in the Relay for Life, where she was named an honory member last year.

Glenn Gregg, 87, of Sleepy Eye, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, at Sleepy Eye Municipal Hospital.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Faith United Methodist Church, Sleepy Eye, with burial in Home Cemetery, Sleepy Eye.
Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Monday at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye, and one hour prior to services at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Leona of Sleepy Eye; son, Randy of Sleepy Eye; two grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Floyd and Gen of Sleepy Eye; and a sister-in-law, Ida of Sleepy Eye.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Aaron and Gerald; sister, Fern Remus; and daughter-in-law, Sandra, in 1999.
He was born May 9, 1913, in Forest City, Iowa, to Paul and Myrtle (England) Gregg. He attended Barber College in Minneapolis and returned to Sleepy Eye to work with his brother and with his father on the farm. He married Leona Nelson on June 11, 1941. They lived northwest of Sleepy Eye. He belonged to Faith United Methodist Church, Sleepy Eye.

Wallace Cornelius Aden, 73, of St. James died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, at Immanuel-St. Joseph Hospital, Mankato.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, St. James. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, St. James.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at Sturm Funeral Home, St. James, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; sons, Rick and wife, Alice Aden of Philadelphia, Ron and wife, Diane of St. James, Randy and wife, DeeAnn Aden of Bismark, N.D.; daughter, Rhonda and husband, Jan Miller of St. James; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, John and wife, Sandra Aden of St. James, Ray Aden of Sunny Mead, Calif.; sisters, Wyona and husband, Merk Yackel of St. James, Emma Rempel of Mountain Lake and Edna Anderson of St. James; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister in infancy, brother, Garrelt; sister, Gebka.
He was born July 28, 1927, in Mountain Lake, Cottonwood County, son of John and Margaret (Menssen) Aden. He lived in Cottonwood County for eight years before moving to rural Watonwan County, living there for six years. He then moved to St. James, where he went to St. Paul's Lutheran School and graduated from the eighth grade. At age 16, he started working for Schmidts Bakery. He married Barbara Maxwell on July 5, 1958, in St. James. He worked at the bakery for the majority of his career while also opening his own bakery in St. James, which he ran for two years.

Mildred 'Wink' Jose, 87, of Sioux Falls, S.D., formerly of the Sherburn and Madelia area, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, at Avera Prince of Peace Care Center in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Kramer Family Funeral Home Chapel, Sherburn. Burial will be in the Sherburn Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. today at Kramer Family Funeral Home, Sherburn, and one hour prior to services at the funeral home Monday.
She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Damian and husband, Richard of Sioux Falls, S.D., DeLores Davis of Rochester; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brother, Irvin Bong and wife, Florence of Minneapolis; sister-in-law, Elenora Bong of Fox Lake; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Marshall Wink and Percy Jose; sons, Charles and Daryl; son-in-law, Ernest Davis; brothers, Alvin and Victor Bong, other relatives.
Mildred Kathryne Bong was born Aug. 28, 1913, on a farm in Lake Fremont Township, Martin County, daughter of William and Anna (Forstrom) Bong. She received her education in Dunnell Public Schools. On Aug. 27, 1932, she married Percy Jose. On Sept. 30, 1950, she married Marshall A. Wink at Sherburn. They moved to a farm near Truman, then moved to Elm Creek Township, north of Sherburn. They later moved into Sherburn, until moving to Welcome.
In April 1986, they moved to Sioux Falls, S.D. He died on Feb. 7, 1989. On Jan. 19, 1991, she remarried Percy Jose in Madelia. They continued to live in Madelia. After he died, she moved back to Sioux Falls, where she lived until her death.

Glenn Donald von Mosch, 83, of Redwood Falls died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, at Lake Region Hospital, Fergus Falls.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Cornerstone Christian Church, Redwood Falls. Burial will be in Redwood Falls Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Nelson Funeral Home, Redwood Falls, and will continue for one hour prior to the time of services at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Marion; children, Marilyn Schiffner and husband, Steve, of Oklahoma City, Ok., Bruce von Mosch and wife, Alice, of Fergus Falls; sister, June Sward and husband, Ken of Belview; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, five brothers and an infant grandson.
He was born Feb. 11, 1918, in Redwood Falls, son of William and Mary (Jackson) von Mosch. He attended school in Redwood Falls and later worked for Botsford Lumber Company making deliveries. On Nov. 30, 1939, he married Marion Stewig at her parents' home in New Avon Township. They lived on South Ramsey Street until he was called into active duty with the Minnesota National Guard. He served in the U.S. Army and the Guard from 1941-46 in Alaska and the South Pacific and again from 1951-52 in Germany. He retired in 1979 after being employed for many years with the U.S. Postal Service in Redwood Falls. He was a life-long member of the Cornerstone Christian Church, serving as a deacon, and elder, a Sunday school teacher and lay minister. He also was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2553 in Redwood Falls.

Alice Brey, 88, of 803 N. German Street, New Ulm, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, at New Ulm Medical Center.
Private family graveside services will be held in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery. Firle Funeral Home, New Ulm, is handling the arrangements.
She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Wiesner and husband, Doug, of New Ulm; son, Thomas Brey and wife, Eldonna of New Ulm; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Adolph Brey; seven brothers and one sister.
She was born March 1, 1912, in New Ulm. She worked for Kemske Paper Co., E.G. Oswald Publishing, and was owner/operator of the Mode-O-Day ladies clothing store in New Ulm.

Dennis Neumann, 55, of Morton, formerly of Wabasso, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, at his home in Morton.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Wabasso. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, Redwood Falls, and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church Monday.
He is survived by his father, Marvin Neumann of Lamberton (he winters in Mesa, Ariz.); sisters, Lois and husband, Alan Palmer of Lamberton, Eunice and husband, Russ Ahlstrom of North Mankato, Alice and husband, Ken Gerdts of Farmington; brothers, Dallas and wife, Janean of Grangeville, Idaho, David and wife, Shareen of Wabasso; several nieces and nephews; one great-nephew.
He was preceded in death by his mother in 1996 and his grandparents.
Dennis Eugene Neumann was born July 14, 1945, in Redwood Falls, son of Marvin and Delouras (Luescher) Neumann. He grew up in Waterbury Township and attended District #78 for grades 1-3, then finished his schooling in Wabasso Public School, graduating in 1963. He was a member of the National Guard of Redwood Falls from 1965 to 1971. He farmed in Waterbury Township until November 1982. He then bought and operated a Coast-to-Coast store in Hayti, S.D., until later working as a security guard there. He returned to Minnesota and worked as a security guard at Jackpot Junction for the past seven and a half years.

Lucy V. Schlumpberger, 95, a resident of Pierz Villa in Pierz, died Saturday, Feb. l7, 2001, at her home.
Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pierz with burial in New Ulm on Thursday.
Visitation is one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.
Arrangements are with the Shelley-Virnig Funeral Chapel in Pierz.
She is survived by daughter, Mary Elizabeth Forte and husband, Donald, of Hillman; son, John Alfred Schlumpberger and wife, Marilyn, of Rochester; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by parents; husband, Leander in June 1987; and sister, Evelyn Hayek.
She was born April 11, 1905, in New Ulm to Joseph and Frances (Brix) Mueller. She grew up in the New Ulm area where she graduated from high school. She worked as a secretary at State Bond & Mortgage Company. She married Leander Schlumpberger on Sept. 28, 1926, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm. They lived in New Ulm and then moved to various towns before she became a resident of St. Mary's Villa in Pierz in April 1987. She was a singer and musician who worked as a substitute piano player for the Whoppee John and the 6 Fat Dutchmen bands. She also played with various musical groups in towns where she lived, and she sang with German groups. She was a member of Holy Family Circle 824 Daughters of Isabella in Waconia and was past president of the Ladies of Columbus in St. Paul

Alice Popken, 85, of Sleepy Eye died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001, at Divine Providence Community Home, Sleepy Eye.
Services are 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Divine Providence Community Home Chapel, Sleepy Eye. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Sleepy Eye.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30-11 a.m. Thursday at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
She is survived by her sons, Robert of Mendota Heights, James and wife, Karen, of Big Sky, Mont., Thomas of Dallas, Texas; daughter, Marri and husband, Thomas Whittet of New Ulm; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, Richard of Glencoe, Ronald of Austin; sisters, Louella Roddy of Long Beach, Calif., Elaine Blackman of East Grand Forks, Lois Ann Kovacovich of Danville, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Elmer; son, William; brother, Lawrence; sisters, Loretta, JoAnn and Marcella.
She was born Nov. 12, 1915, in Bingham Lake, to Lawrence and Alice (Savage) Hayes. She grew up on the family farm near Comfrey. She graduated from Comfrey High School. She attended Mankato State Teachers College. She taught in Mapleton, Darfur and rural Sleepy Eye. She married Elmer Popken on Aug. 21, 1940, in Comfrey. They purchased a furniture store in Sleepy Eye and operated it until his death. She volunteered for the hospital auxiliary and Meals on Wheels. She was a member of Christian Women and Dancing Grandmothers. She was also elected to the Sleepy Eye Bowling Hall of Fame.

Dean Syverson, 92, of Mountain Lake, formerly of Butterfield and rural Odin, died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001, at Eventide Home, Mountain Lake.
Services are 2 p.m. today at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in rural Odin, with burial with full military honors by the Donald V. Larson Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9607 of Butterfield, in St. Olaf Lutheran Cemetery, rural Odin.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church today.
Arrangements are handled by Kramer Family Funeral Home, Trimont.
He is survived by his nephew, Arthur Syverson and wife, Cleone, of rural Odin; niece Dorothy Satre and husband, Roy of Rochester; and grand nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Carl, Syver, Henry and Albert Syverson; and sister, Margaret Syverson.
He was born July 8, 1908, in Butterfield, to Amund and Ingeborg (Bolstad) Syverson. He attended District 93 rural school in Martin County and graduated from St. James High School in 1926. He moved to Minneapolis with his mother and sister and was employed at King Midas Flour Mills until he entered the U.S. Navy in January 1942. He served in the United States and the South Pacific until his honorable discharge in 1945. After World War II, he moved to Massachusetts and then to Connecticut, where he was employed as a sales person until his retirement at age 75. In 1997, he moved to Eventide Home in Mountain Lake. He was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church in rural Odin. He was a member of the Masons and Shriner Lodges.

Norman 'Pete' Radel, 79, of Donnellson, Iowa, formerly of the Redwood Falls area, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, at the University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City.
Services are 11 a.m. today at Nelson Funeral Home, Redwood Falls, with burial in the Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery, Willow Lake Township.
Visitation is one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
He is survived by his fiance, Barbara Hardin of Donnellson, Iowa; stepmother, Marie Radel of St. Cloud; sisters and brothers-in-law, Orloene and Donald Thom of North Mankato, Everline and Raymond Volk of St. Cloud, Norma and Curtis Krueger of Redwood Falls and Eunice and James Gruendemann of Brainerd; stepchildren, Linda Ohnoutka of Maryland, James and Cindy Hardin of West Point, Iowa, Ron and Gina Hardin of Denmark, Iowa, and Russell and Polly Hardin of Donnellson, Iowa; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Wilbert, Ordell and Robert; and sisters, Verna and Lynette.
The family prefers memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church, Willow Lake Township.
He was born Feb. 15, 1922, on the family farm in Willow Lake Township, Redwood County, to August and Olga (Neumann) Radel. He attended country school at District 67. He worked with his father on the farm. On Nov. 28, 1944, he entered the U.S. Army, working special duty as an M.P. He was discharged on Feb. 5, 1946. He returned to Redwood County and began farming, later moving to the Johnson and Morris areas to continue his occupation. In the early 1970s he moved to Albert Lea. In 1985 he retired and moved to Donnellson, Iowa. He had been a member of the sportsman's Club at Chokio.
