Robert 'Bob' Friedrichs, 75, of 742 Birch Ave. in Gibbon died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Moltke Township, Sibley County, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon and will continue one hour before the service Thursday at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Loaine Friedrichs of Gibbon; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Kathy Friedrichs of Owatonna; grandchildren, Mark Friedrichs and his wife, Chrissy of Owatonna, Krista Friedrichs and her fiance, Kelley Lima both of Crystal, Amy Friedrichs of Owatonna; and great-grandson, Kade Friedrichs at home.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wilfred Friedrichs; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ethel and Wayne Case.
He was born on Aug. 18, 1925, in New Ulm to William and Agnes (Bentz) Friedrichs. He married Loaine Paschke on Sept. 29, 1946, at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Wellington Township, Renville County. The couple farmed in Moltke Township, Sibley County. In June of 1984 they retired and moved into Gibbon. They built and then managed the Sun Rae Apartments in Gibbon for 23 years. He was a member of the Economic Development Association (E.D.A.) of Gibbon and Lions Club of Gibbon. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Moltke Township, Sibley County.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to St. Peter's Lutheran Church.

Anita VanderLinden, 72, of rural Redwood Falls died on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at St. Cloud Hospital.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday, at First Presbyterian Church in Redwood Falls with burial in the Redwood Falls Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday at Nelson Funeral Home in Redwood Falls with a 4:30 p.m. Order of Eastern Star Service. Visitation will continue on Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.
She is survived by her husband, Donald of rural Redwood Falls, children; Janet VanderLinden of St. Cloud, Judy VanderLinden and husband Warren Liepitz of Sartell and Robert VanderLinden of Redwood Falls; eight grandchildren; and three-great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by sisters, Elsie Meierding and Edna Kemnitz.
She was born on April 10, 1928, in Morgan to Carl and Elsie (Wandersee) Ohnesorge. She attended Morgan schools. She worked at the Silver Dime Cafe in Redwood Falls. On July 1, 1950, she married Donald VanderLiden in Morgan. They farmed in Kintire Township. She worked for a short time at J.C. Penney Store. For the last 25 years she was a Shaklee representative. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon and elder and was active in volunteer work. She was an active member of the Redwood Falls Senior Center. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and had served as an officer. She belonged to the Belview American Legion Auxiliary.

Anastasia M. Hager, 86, of Mankato died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at Luther Memorial Home in Madelia.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Clair with burial in the church cemetery in St. Clair.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Friday at the Mankato Mortuary with a 6:30 p.m. rosary. Visitation continues one hour before services at the church on Saturday.
She was survived by sons and their wives, Tom and Helen Hager of Mankato, and Mike and Patricia Hager of rural Good Thunder; daughters and their husbands, E. Diane and Raymond Schweiss of Hector, Kay and Francis Schweiss of Fairfax, and Rita and Ted Wolfe of rural Mankato; 18 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends; and sister-in-law, Ann Hager.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1999, three sisters, and four brothers.
She was born Dec. 7, 1914, in Mapleton to Karl and Mary (Budnick) Templin. She graduated from Mapleton High School. She married Logan J. Hager in Mapleton on July 3, 1934. She farmed with her husband in Decoria Township until retiring in 1962. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Clair, where she was active in church circles.

Florence Ginkel, 90, of Albert Lea, formerly of New Ulm, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at St. John's Lutheran Home in Albert Lea.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in New Ulm, with burial in the City Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Friday at Firle Funeral Home in New Ulm, and one hour prior to services at the church.
She is survived by sons, the Rev. Donald Ginkel and his wife Dine of Lakewood, Colo., Bruce Ginkel and his wife Diana of Kellogg; daughters, Joan Bany and her husband Merle of Elgin, Tamra Braget of Albert Lea, Joyce Becker of Kellogg; 21 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; brothers, Norman Wieland and his wife Linda, Vernon Wieland and his wife Darlene, Harold Wieland and his wife JoAnn, James Wieland and his wife Bea, all of New Ulm; sisters, Laura Richter and her husband Harold, Hilda Breu and her husband Leonard, Vera Meredith, all of New Ulm, Alice Robinson and her husband George of Hazelton, Iowa; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1994; daughter, Donna Mae Ginkel; great-granddaughter, Angela Moore; brothers, Willard and Alfred Wieland; sisters, Lois Wieland and Viola Rockvam.
She was born Feb. 13, 1911, in New Ulm to Fred and Ella (Meyer) Wieland. She attended St. Paul's Lutheran School and New Ulm Public School. She worked for the Bee Hive Department Store in New Ulm. She married Elmer Ginkel on Sept. 23, 1931, in New Ulm. They lived in various communities in Minnesota and Wisconsin where she was associated with her husband in business. She was a Sunday school teacher and Girl Scout leader. She was also employed as a home health aide for the Nursing Association of Otter Tail and Crow Wing counties until 1983. The couple returned to New Ulm on June 30, 1984. Her husband died Sept. 20, 1994. She became a resident of St. John's Lutheran Home in Albert Lea in 1996. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in New Ulm and the Lutheran Missionary League.

Roger Schaufler, 43, of Stewart, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at the Glencoe Regional Health Services.
Mass of Christian burial is 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Stewart with spring burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday at Hughes Funeral Home in Stewart with a 7 p.m. prayer service, and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Florence Augeson, 80, of Hector, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at Glencoe Regional Health
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hector with burial in the Hector City Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today at Hughes Funeral Home in Hector, and one hour before the service at the church on Friday.

Kathleen 'Kay' Johnson, 82, of Redwood Falls, died Tuesday, Feb.27, 2001, at Wood Dale Nursing Home, in Redwood Falls.
Mass of Christian burial is 11 a.m. Friday at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Redwood Falls with burial at a later date in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today with a prayer service at 7 p.m. and continues Friday from 8:30-10 a.m. at Nelson Funeral Home in Redwood Falls.
She is survived by her husband, Robert M. Johnson of Redwood Falls; children; David Johnson and wife Jean, and Pat Baumann and husband Russ, both of Redwood Falls; grandchildren; Travis Johnson, Michael Johnson and Dustin Baumann all of Redwood Falls; and Amanda Johnson of Duluth; sisters; Cloette Kieffer and husband Eugene, of Stamford, Conn.; Janette Delperdang and husband Wayne, of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Laura Langel and husband Robert of LeMars, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews..
She was preceded in death by a sister, Deloris Sjostrom.
She was born Aug. 27, 1918, in Remsen, Iowa, to Nicholas and Helen (Nothem) Lauters. She lived with her family in Remsen, Iowa, and graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School in 1937. On Feb. 7, 1942, she married Robert M. Johnson in Remsen, Iowa. They resided in Perrysburg, Ohio. In 1946 they moved to Stewartville, Minn. In 1949 they moved to Redwood Falls.She was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church where she served as CCW chair and co-chair.. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and den mother for Cub Scouts Pack 70.

Orva Raymond Hoehne, 94, of Windom and formerly of Jeffers, died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, at Sioux Valley Hospital, Sioux Falls. S.D.
Services are 10:30 a.m. today at Red Rock United Methodist Church, Sanborn;
Arrangements are handled by Anderson Schmidt Funeral Service.
He is survived by son, Roger and wife Bonnie Hoehne of Jeffers; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother Milton and wife Mabel of Lamberton; sister, Lilas Nickel of Two Harbors; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by wife, Alma in 1982; sons, Arlan and Glenn; daughter, Delores Clemmer; and great-grandson, Benjamin Clemmer.
He was born March 22, 1906, in Germantown Township, Cottonwood County, to Ernest and Lena (Werner) Hoehne. He graduated from Lamberton High School and received a two-year agricultural degree. He was a farmer. He married Alma Mickel at Red Rock EUB Church on Sept. 15, 1932. He and his wife retired to Jeffers in 1968. He become a resident of Sogge Good Samaritan Home in Windom in 1997.

LaVona Luehring, 78, of 724 Clark Ave. in Gibbon, died Wednesday Feb. 28, 2001, at New Ulm Medical Center.
Funeral service is 10 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon with spring burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon, and continues one hour before the service at the church on Saturday.
She is survived by her daughter, Jean Luehring of New Ulm; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rudy and Mary Ann Melquist of Richfield, and Ronald and Lois Melquist of Minneapolis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Warren Luehring on May 31, 1982; and a brother, Lyle Melquist.
She was born Aug. 27, 1922, in Severance Township, Sibley County, to Arthur and Olga (Dybedal) Melquist. She graduated from the Gibbon High School in 1940. On Nov. 4, 1944, she married Warren Luehring at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon. She worked at the Oswald Meat Market in Gibbon, and later as the bookkeeper for the C.J. Johnson Car Dealership in Gibbon. She also worked for the Gibbon Ballroom for many years. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon, and was a lifetime member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart No. 8 Auxiliary in Minneapolis. She served on the Norwegian Lutheran Cemetery Board for 20 years.

Myrtle Wellman, 86, of St. James, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church, St. James, with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery, St. James.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today at Sturm Funeral Home, and at the church Saturday, one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Shirley of Virginia,; sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and David Johnson of Eden, S.D.; grandchildren, Michael and Mary Wellman; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Laura Tanhoff; brother, Marvin Reigstad; and a grandson.
She was born Feb. 7, 1915, to Spencer and Anna Reigstad in Sleepy Eye. They moved to Willmar where she graduated from high school. She married Glenn Wellman on Sept. 11, 1935. They moved to a farm north of St. James. He died in 1983. She moved to St. James in 1996. She belonged to the United Methodist Church.

Roger Schaufler, 43, of Stewart, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at Glencoe Regional Health Services.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Stewart, with burial this spring in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday at Hughes Funeral Home, Stewart, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, and at the church Saturday, one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by his wife, Tammy of Stewart; children, Kyle, Jeremy, and Kayla, all of Stewart; mother, Flora of Stewart; brothers and sisters, Richard and Karen of Grand Meadow, Barb and Jim Goodnature of Rochester, Jeanette and Jim Hay of Green Bay, Wis., Joanne and Steve Carlson of Byron, Kenny and Merri of Stewart, Jerry and Connie of Stewart, and Jim and Mary Beth of Stewart; a father and mother-in-law, Earl and Sharon Pagenkopf of Stewart; brothers and sisters-in-law, Guy and Linda Pagenkopf of Litchfield, Cindy and Wayne Exsted of Glencoe, and Robin and Paul Van Remortal of DePere, Wis.; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred; and brother, Larry.
He was born June 30, 1957 in Hutchinson to Alfred and Flora (Oberlin) Schaufler. He grew up on the family farm, graduating in 1975 from Stewart High School. He attended Hutchinson Vocational Technical School. He married Tammy Pagenkopf Aug. 2, 1986 in Stewart. The couple lived in Stewart. He was a mechanic at McCormick Implement in Stewart for over 20 years. He was also part-owner of Green Acres in Stewart and belonged to St. Boniface Catholic Church, Stewart.

Esther Anderson, 87, of Darfur, died Thursday, March 1, 2001, at St. James Health Services Hospital, St. James.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at West Sveadahl Lutheran Church, rural St. James. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. at Pease Funeral Home, St. James, and one hour prior to services at the church Monday.
She is survived by her husband, Walter; son, LeRoy and wife, Marion Anderson of New Ulm; daughter, DeLores Kleinow and husband, Raymond of Burnsville; eight grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters-in-law, Irene Anderson of St. James, Violet Anderson of rural Butterfield and Stella Carlson of Mountain Lake.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Harry, Embert and Carl; sisters, Olga, Hilma and Myrtle and a great-granddaughter, Amanda.
She was born March 31, 1913, in Adrian Township, Watonwan County, daughter of Carl and Malena (Lena) Carlson. She attended District 40 school in Darfur. She married J. Walter Anderson on Jan. 9, 1933, in Comfrey. They lived in Sveadahl for several years, then moved to a farm near Darfur in 1938, then into Darfur in 1958. She was a member of West Sveadahl Lutheran Church, serving in the ladies group of the church and as Sunday school teacher. She also was a driver for senior citizens in the Darfur area for several years.

Carole Arlene Ahern, 63, of Madelia, died Friday, March 2, 2001 at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital, Mankato.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Madelia. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Madelia.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at Pilgrim Funeral Home, Madelia, with rosary services at 4 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue at the funeral home Tuesday morning from 9-10:15 a.m.
She is survived by her husband, Albert; daughters, Cynthia Hintz and Nancy Ahern of Madelia; sons, Scot and wife, Brenda of Madelia, Robert of Eagan, Richard of Madelia; five grandchildren; sisters, Vida Altemus of Norwalk, Ohio, Marie Bates of Riverside Calif., Anita McGowan and husband, Vince, of Johnstown, Penn.; sisters-in-law, Dagny Elvin of St. James, Bobbi Elvin of Worthington, Myrtle Warner and husband, Harold, of Madelia, Marion Hanson and husband, Curtis, of Mankato; brothers-in-law, Francis Ahern and wife, Monica, of Mankato, Lawrence Ahern and wife, Beverly of Kasson; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Raymond (Chick) Elvin, Walter Elvin, infant brothers Robert and Charles, an infant sister and a son-in-law, Mark Hintz.
She was born Nov. 19, 1937 in St. James, daughter of Charles and Sara (Williams) Elvin. She grew up in St. James and graduated from St. James High School in 1955. She married Albert Ahern on April 7, 1955. They farmed in the Madelia area. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the MCCW.

Harold E. Leske, 90, of Buffalo Lake, died Saturday, March 3, 2001, at Hutchinson Area Health Care.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Zion United Methodist Church, Buffalo Lake with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today at the church and at the church Tuesday, one hour prior to the service.
Arrangements are with Hughes Funeral Home, Hector.
Harold is survived by his wife, Violet of Buffalo Lake; children Sharon Niles of Buffalo Lake, Kathleen (Kathy) and Larry Godejahn of Buffalo Lake, Judith (Judy) and Clarence Washburn of Hector, Richard and Lyn Leske of Buffalo Lake, and Sheldon and Brenda Leske of Buffalo Lake; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a brother, Milton of Buffalo Lake; sisters, Agnes Mueller and Doris Carrigan, both of Buffalo Lake; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Richard H. Leske, Jr.; a son-in-law, Orlin Niles; his parents; and sisters Laura Burgstahler and Sylvia Stuber.
He was born Feb. 16, 1911, to Emil and Ida (Ebent) Leske in Grafton Township, Sibley County. He attended rural schools districts 20 and 40, in Sibley County, and was a member of Grafton Zion Evangelical Church. He married Violet Ervie Fluck on May 7,1935, at the church. He farmed until he had to quit due to ill health. He worked as a plumber at Johnson Hardware in Hector for nine years. He built many new homes and remodeled several older homes. In later years, he owned Leske's Auto Body and had a wrecker service. He was a life-long member of the Zion Evangelical Church in Buffalo Lake, later the Zion United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Brotherhood, served as a trustee on the church board, was head usher for several years, and was the Librarian at church. He served on the Village Council and as the mayor of Buffalo Lake.
