Mildred 'Millie' Peterson, 83, formerly of Gibbon died March 4, 2001, at the Mount Olivet Careview Home in Minneapolis.
Services are 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Mount Olivet Lutheran Church in Minneapolis with spring burial in the Augustana Lutheran Cemetery in Gibbon.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of the service at the church on Wednesday. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane Peterson of Burnsville; grandchildren, Jonas, Alice and Sasha Peterson; and a brother and sister-in-law, Wallace and Claire Borgen of Minneapolis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth C. Peterson on Oct. 31, 1991; and her brother, Willard Borgen.
She was born Feb. 2, 1918, in Minneapolis to Nicholas and Bertha (Ofstun) Borgen. She graduated in 1936 from South High School in Minneapolis, and attended the Minneapolis School of Business. On Feb. 14, 1947, she married Kenneth C. Peterson at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. After marriage she was a homemaker, until they moved to Gibbon in 1949. Her husband owned and operated the Kenneth C. Peterson Contractor Business, and she was the bookkeeper until they retired in 1973 and sold the business. Due to her declining health she moved to Burnsville to be near to her daughter. She became a resident of Mount Olivet Careview Home in October 1999.
She was a member of the Augustana Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid, and church choir.
The family prefers memorials to the American Cancer Society.

Barbara Kastner, 47, of Kasota and formerly of Hanska, died Sunday, March 4, 2001, at St. Peter Community Hospital, St. Peter.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. Burial will be in the New Ulm Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, New Ulm.
She is survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Diane and Richard "Rocky" Lane of New Ulm, Sharon and Kenny Christensen of Essig; brothers, Michael Kastner of rural Comfrey, Thomas Gohr of North Mankato; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Sandra Davis.
She was born July 1, 1953, in New Ulm to Norbert and Carol (Frederickson) Kastner. She attended school in Hanska. She lived in the Hanska area until the age of 10 when she moved to St. Peter where she became a resident of the St. Peter State Hospital in Pexton Hall. She worked various jobs while living in St. Peter. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hanska.

Loretta M. Zschetzsche, 75, of Sleepy Eye, died March 4, 2001, at St. Therese Home, New Hope.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Church of the Japanese Martyrs in Leavenworth with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30 -9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. There will be a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. and a Christian Mothers and Catholic Aid rosary at 4 p.m. today at the funeral home
She is survived by her children, Rosann Zschetzsche of Sauk Centre, Michele and husband David White of O'Fallon, Mo., Gerri Lynn and husband Dave Windmeier of Corcoran, and Michael Zschetzsche of Sleepy Eye; grandchildren, Brittany Zschetzsche, Trevor and Joshua Whiter; sisters-in-law, Florine Lang of Mesa, Ariz., Gertrude and husband Sylvester Huiras of Columbia, Mo., Helen Fiero of Ildsmar, Fla., Lucille Mangen of Minnetonka, and Mary Zschetzsche of Sleepy Eye.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerome in 1999; brother, Matt Lang; sister-in law, Margaret and husband Stan Sobocinski; brothers-in-law, Edwin, Norbert and his wife Bernice, Vic Mangen and Jack Fiero.
She was born Oct. 18, 1925, in St. Paul to Mathias and Rose (Unger) Lang. She grew up in St. Paul where she attended St. Bernard's Grade School and graduated from St. Joseph's Academy. She worked for several downtown St. Paul businesses before her marriage. On May 28, 1960, she married Jerome J. Zschetzsche at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in St. Paul. The couple lived on a farm near Leavenworth. She was the bookkeeper for NFO Collection Point for many years. She was a member of the Church of the Japanese Martyrs in Leavenworth, the Catholic Aid Association and the Christian Mothers.

Sean P. Smith, 31, of Roseville, formerly of New Ulm, died from cancer on Sunday, March 4, 2001.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Church of St. Rose, 2048 N. Hamline Ave., Roseville, with burial in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Mueller-Bies Funeral Home, 2130 N. Dale at County Road B, Roseville, and at the church Friday from 9 a.m. to the time of the service.
He is survived by his fiancee, Tami Drill; his mother, Mary Smith; his father Thomas Smith and his fiancee Rosemary Novack; sister, Jennifer (Mrs. Jim) Saxton; grandmother, Celina Dunleavy; a special friend, Tom Nosland; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was born Aug. 4, 1969, in St. Paul to Mary and Tom Smith. He resided in St. Paul and attended St. Agnes Catholic School, where he participated in football, basketball and baseball, and graduated in 1987. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin at River Falls. He was employed as a probation officer with Nobles and Brown counties, and most recently with the Minnesota Department of Corrections in St. James and Owatonna. He served on the executive board of the Minnesota Association of County Probation Officers. He was attending graduate school at the University of Minnesota, Mankato.
He was a member of the New Ulm Country Club, and had been an assistant football coach for Cathedral High School in New Ulm.

Herbert W. Krueger, 73, of Springfield, died March 5, 2001, at St. John Lutheran Home, Springfield.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Friday at Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield and continues one hour before the service Friday at the church.
He is survived by sisters-in-law, Irene Krueger of Springfield, Mitzi and husband Elmer Churchill of Springfield; nieces and nephews, Jane Nelson of Minneapolis, Steven Krueger of Madison, Wis., Ginevra Hendrickson of Kasson, Mary Kalchick of San Diego, Calif., Lucinda Mitchell of Mankato, Virginia Gill of Northfield, Barbara Donoho of Minneapolis, and Jeff Krueger of Springfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Sr. and Anna Krueger; sister, Edna Well; brothers, Alfred, Wilbert and Edward Krueger Jr.; sister-in-law, Eleanore Krueger; and brother-in-law, Lawrence Wall.
He was born Sept. 28, 1922, in Bashaw Township, Brown County, to Edward Sr. and Anna (Kettner) Krueger, He attended country school. He farmed with his brother Alfred on the family farm until 1983 when he became a resident at St. John Lutheran Home. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where he sang in the choir and belonged to Luther League and Lutheran Brotherhood. He received the "Touch of Kindness" Award in 1991 at St. John Lutheran Home.

Wilmer H. Riebe, 83, of Winthrop, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church in Winthrop. Full military rites will be provided by the Winthrop Honor Guard. Spring burial will be in the Winthrop Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday and continues 7:30-8:30 a.m. Friday at Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop, and also one hour before services Friday at the church.

Fred Rosenow, 86, of Brownton, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Brownton with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 8-9 a.m. Friday at Hantge Funeral Chapel, Brownton, and also one hour prior to services.
Dobratz-Hantge Chapel, Brownton is handling arrangements.

Alice Fox, 89, of Roseville died Friday, March 2, 2001, at Lakeridge Care Center, Roseville.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Central Lutheran Church, in Franklin, with burial at later date.
Visitation is one hour before services at the church.
Arrangements are handled by Miller Funeral Home, Anoka.
She is survived by a sister, Bernice Halvorson of Circle Pines; sisters-in-law, Lila Nesburg of Fairfax, Vivian Nesburg of Minneapolis, Peggy Otis and Pauline Highnoted of Las Vegas, Nev.; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gunder and Mary Nesburg; husband, George Fox; brothers, Oscar, Irvin, Arthur, Willard, Julian, Ralph and Durward; sisters, Mabel Nesburg, Anna (Nesburg) Berg.
She was born Feb. 28, 1912, in Camp Township, Renville County, to Gunder and Mary (Nesseth) Nesburg. She attended the local schools, and Dunwoody Institute, where she studied secretarial work.
On June 16, 1936, she married George Fox. They lived in Miami for 27 years. They built a new motel and restaurant in Jesup, Ga., where they lived a few years until moving to Pasadena, Calif. They spent summers back on the family farm. He died in 1965. In 1967, she moved back to Minnesota. She lived in Blaine for many years. In 1999, she moved to Farmstead Assisted Care and later to Lakeridge Care Center.

Merle 'Butch' F. Venero, 80, of Sleepy Eye,died March 5, 2001, at Presbyterian Nursing Home, Roseville.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye with burial in Home Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday, and continues 7:30-9 a.m. Friday at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye; and also one hour before services Friday at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Alice; children, Jane Wester of Eagan, Jeri and Bob Johns of Rochelle, Ill., Jay and Dory Venero of Excelsior, Vicki and Andy Connell of Coon Rapids, Paula Veilleux of Vadnais Heights, Mary and John Evans of Maplewood; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Erv and wife Vera Venero of Faribault; and sister, Maxine and PeeWee Onsrud of Faribault.
He was born on Sept. 6, 1920, in Faribault, to Maximilliain and Florence (Wharton) Venero. He graduated from high school in Faribault. He worked as a butcher at National Tea in Sleepy Eye. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in Hawaii as a cook. He married Alice Victoria Larsen on Dec. 20, 1945, in Sleepy Eye. He owned and operated Venero's Sanitary Meat Market on Main Street. He became a financial representative for IDS/American Express until his retirement. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served on the building committee. He was a charter member of the Sleepy Eye Lions Club and served on the Sleepy Eye Public School Board. He served on the Sleepy Eye Hospital Board.

Arthur C. Menk, 93, of Nicollet, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at Grandview Care Center in St. Peter.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet with burial in the church Cemetery, rural Nicollet.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Nicollet and will continue one hour before services Friday at the church.
He is survived by daughters and son-in-law, LaDonna Thompson of St. Peter, Charleen and Duane Rossow of St. Peter; son and daughter-in-law, Rolland and Eunice Menk of New Ulm; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Menk of Courtland.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Selma, on June 22, 1977; grandsons Duane and Terry Thompson; and brother, Emil Menk.
He was born July 17, 1907, in New Sweden Township, Nicollet County, to Emil and Meta (Krohn) Menk. He attended school in Granby Township, Nicollet County. On Oct. 19, 1932, he married Selma Wills at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet. They farmed for 41 years in Granby Township, Nicollet County, before retiring in 1974 and moving into Nicollet. He was a life-long member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet and served on many church boards and committees. He served on the board of Trinity Lutheran School in Nicollet. He became a resident of the Grandview Care Center in St. Peter in November 1998.

Amanda Zupfer, 99, of New Ulm, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the church.
Firle Funeral Home of New Ulm is handling the arrangements.
She is survived by her husband, Wesley Zupfer of New Ulm; sister, Esther Beckstrom. of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Ervin, Louis, Herman, Henry, and Ed Rosenau; and sisters, Lydia Luebke, Emma Weiss, Minnie Scholtz, Lena Raveling, and Martha Stern.
She was born Jan. 10, 1902, in Eden Township, Brown County, to August and Amelia (Schleisner) Rosenau. She attended District 78 school. She worked as a casket designer for the former Bobsin Manufacturing Company in New Ulm. She married Wesley Zupfer on March 6, 1943, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church parsonage in New Ulm. They lived in New Ulm. She became a resident of Oak Hills Living Center in 1994. She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Wilmer H. Riebe, 83, of Winthrop, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Martha Riebe; brothers, William, Wilfred, Gilbert and Norman Riebe; and grandson, Steven Riebe.
He was born on Feb. 14, 1918, in Gibbon to Emil and Martha (Boelter) Riebe. He attended parochial school in rural Gibbon. He worked for Boelter Construction. He married Ilo A. Bahr on Dec. 27, 1941, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Litchfield. They lived in Winthrop. He served in the U.S. Army from Jan. 12, 1942, to Oct. 31, 1945, and was a sergeant in the European Theater. After military service, he returned to Winthrop and worked at the DX Oil Station. He then worked as station manager at the Winthrop Midland Co-op for more than 30 years. He retired in the late 1970s. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Winthrop, He also was a member and past commander of the Winthrop American Legion Post 314.

Adelia Sievert, 87, of 312 S. Garden in New Ulm, died Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with burial in the Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30 - 8:30 a.m. Monday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and continues one hour before the service at the church on Monday.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Tom West of Minneapolis, Lois and Glenn Bode of New Ulm; son and daughter-in-law, Louis and Sharie Sievert of Two Rivers, Wis.; daughter-in-law, Kathryn Tegen and her husband, John of Kenosha, Wis..; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Nissalke of La Crescent; and brothers and sister-in-law, Edwin and Arlene Schumacher and George Schumacher all of Houston.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Prof. Erich Sievert on Feb. 1, 1994; son, Clarke Sievert on July 22, 1988; sisters, Martha Schumacher, Pauline Haar, Marie Jore and Agnes Jore; and a bother, Walter Schumacher.
She was born on Sept. 1, 1913, in Mound Prairie Township, Houston County, to John and Maria (Wolter) Schumacher. She attended Martin Luther Academy in New Ulm and graduated from Dr. Martin Luther College in 1933. She taught at St. John's in Neillsville, Wis. On Aug. 8, 1939, she married Prof. Erich Sievert in Mound Prairie Township, Houston County. In 1948 they moved to New Ulm when her husband accepted a professorship at Dr. Martin Luther College. She was a supervising teacher of student teachers at St. Paul's Lutheran School in New Ulm. She retired in 1978. She was active in altar guild duties and made quilts for the needy. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm.
The family prefers memorials be given to the Sievert Scholarship Fund at MLC or to the donor's choice.
