The Rev. Reinhard Koepp, 83, of Brownton, died Wednesday, May 2, 2001, at his home.
Services are 2 p.m. Sunday at Immanuel Lutheran church in Brownton, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Saturday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church sanctuary, 10 a.m. to noon Sunday in the church chapel and one hour before the services in the sanctuary.
Arrangements are handled by Dobratz-hantge Funeral Chapel of Hutchinson.

Rawlie Albrecht, 84, formerly of New Ulm, died Saturday, April 28, 2001, at the Texas Terrace Care Center.
Services were Wednesday at Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home, Howard Lake, with burial in Howard Lake Cemetery.
He is survived by stepdaughter Betty Chmielewski of Glencoe; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepson Vernon Baumann.
He was born, April 5, 1916, in New Ulm, Minnesota. He grew up there and also attended school briefly there. He drove cattle truck to Minneapolis as a young man and farmed in the 1950s in the New Ulm area. He married LaVern McNeely on Sept. 25, 1957. They moved to Clearwater and farmed there. They later moved to Brownton in the late1960s where they farmed. They also farmed near Winthrop and Cokato. He lived in Cokato until a year ago when he entered the Howard Lake Good Samaritan Nursing Home.

Lillian Distad, 89, of Franklin, died Tuesday, May 1, 2001, at the Fairfax Community Nursing Home.
Services will 2 p.m. today, at the Palmyra Covenant Church, Palmyra Township, rural Hector, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be at the church today one hour prior to services. Hughes Funeral Home in Hector is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her husband, Julian Distad of Franklin; daughter and son-in-law, Margie and Reggie Cotton of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son in infancy; a son, Kenneth; and three brothers and five sisters.
She was born Dec. 25, 1911, in rural Hector to Carl and Emma (Peterson) Lundstrom. She graduated from Hector High School She got a teaching degree at St. Cloud State. She taught in several area rural schools. She married Carl Julian Distad on Aug. 28, 1947, at the Palmyra Covenant Church, Palmyra Township, Renville County, Minnesota. They farmed in Camp Township. She was a Sunday School teacher, involved in Ladies Aid.

Jerry Dostal, 92, of Glencoe, died April 3, 2001, at Glencoe Regional Health Services.
He was born Aug. 8, 1908, in Hutchinson. He started his own band in 1932 and became known as "The King of Bohemian Music." He was drafted into the U.S. Army in November 1943 and played in the military band. He took part in the D-Day Invasion and the liberation of Brest, France. He received two Bronze Stars and other citations. In 1946, his band played every night for three consecutive months. His first recording, the "Pla-Mor Waltz" was made in 1948, and it become a trademark for the band and ballroom. Other honors he received included recognition form the Minnesota ballroom Operations Association for 50 years in the music and dance world in 1985, outstanding polka band, and induction to the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame in 1997.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel Dostal of Glencoe.

Dale Gorr, 69, of Gaylord died Wednesday, May 2, 2001, at New Ulm Medical Center.
Services are 10:30 a.m. today at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Gaylord, with burial in the church cemetery with full military honors by the Manthey-Asmus American Legion Post 433.
Visitation is 8:30-10 a.m. today at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Gaylord.
Arrangements are handled by Egesdal Funeral Home.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Gorr of Gaylord; a daughter, Katie Gorr of Sioux Falls, S.D.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Alvina and Henry Nelsen of Appleton, Dorothy and Dale Sorbe of Inver Grove Heights; and sister, Jane Martin of Sauk Centre.
He is proceeded in death by his parents; brothers, Albert and David; a brother-in-law, Alex Martin; and sister-in-law, Marie.
He was born July 10, 1931; in Minatare, Neb., to Christ and Katie (Trout) Gorr. He married Karen Huffman on Aug. 28, 1968, at Zion Lutheran Church, Winthrop. He graduated from Gaylord high School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1952-1954. He worked at the Uttendorf Mink Farm near Arlington and as a printer for the Gaylord Hub from 1967-1993 when he retired. He worked part time at the Municipal Liquor Store in Gaylord and Winthrop and at the American Legion in Gaylord. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord and Gaylord Manthey-Asmus American Legion Post 433.

Richard C. "Rich" Filzen, 60, of rural New Ulm, died Wednesday, May 2, 2001, at his home.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 - 9:00 PM Friday and 7:30 - 10:00 AM Saturday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service at 7:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.
Richard is survived by his wife Rita Filzen of rural New Ulm; daughters and son-in-law, Carrie Rodewald and her special friend Sylvan Fischer, and Julie and Ross Hellendrung, all of New Ulm; sons and daughter-in-law, Terry Filzen of Proctor and Dale and Laura Filzen of New Ulm; grandchildren, Brandon, Nathan and Cody Rodewald, Raquel and Justin Filzen and Tamara Hellendrung; step-grandchildren, Tiffany Willhelmi and Toni-Ann and Marcus Weber; great-granddaughter, Victoria Regan; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mabel Kral of Maplewood, Gladys Elrod of Stoneyfort, California, Shirley and Gene Gores of Redwood Falls, Donna and Hugo Balk of Mankato and Phyllis and Bernard Gulden of New Ulm; brothers, Donald and Roger Filzen of New Ulm and Walter Filzen of Mankato; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jim and Donna Holm, Judy Hesse, Steve and Jenny Hesse, Dave Hesse, Leo Hesse and Lois and Arlyn Keute, all of New Ulm.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers in infancy; and special friends, William and Adeline Kretsch.
Richard was born December 10, 1940 in New Ulm to Phillip and Mary (Zangel Hlavac) Filzen. After graduating from New Ulm High School, Richard worked at Kraft and worked on the farm with William and Adeline Kretsch. He married Rita Hesse on November 24, 1962 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm. They moved to a farm in 1971 in Sigel Township, near Clear Lake where he operated a dairy farm and raised and trained Arabian horses until last fall when his health prevented him from working. Richard was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. He was a member and also served on the board of MI Arabian Horse Club and was also a member of the Sleepy Eye Saddle Club.
Richard enjoyed holding Hawaiian luaus for family, friends and neighbors. He held Arabian Horse shows for over 10 years to promote the Arabian breed. He loved showing horses and helping others with horses. He took great pride in building and maintaining his farm. Richard also enjoyed the company of his dog Spike.

Marlene Hansena, 61, of rural New London and formerly of New Ulm, died Thursday at Rice Memorial Hospital
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Willmar, with burial at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery Nicollet.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the Harvey Anderson Funeral Home, Willmar, and Monday at the church, one hour prior to services.
She is survived by her husband, Wallace, children: Robert (and Cindy) Hansen, Le Sueur, Karen (and Kurt) Odegard, New Ulm, and Ronald (and Joy) Hansen, Nicollet; six grandchildren; one greatgrandchild; a sister Elaine and Derald Edwards, New London; and brother, Marvin Fennern, St. Paul, nieces, nephews and cousins,
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She was born on Jan. 1, 1940 at Springfield, Minnesota to Herbert and Aurelea (Fenger) Fennern. In 1951 their family moved to New Ulm where she attended St. Paul's Lutheran Grade School. They later moved to Nicollet where she graduated from Nicollet High School in 1958. Following graduation she moved to St. Peter where she worked at ADC.
On March 5 1960, she was united in marriage to Wallace Robert Hansen at Nicollet Lutheran Church. They lived in Nicollet until 1963 when the moved to New Ulm. Marlene worked at Kraft, retiring with 31 years of employment in 1996. After their retirement they moved to the New London area and she worked part time for Rambo's in New London.

Elton G. Hardy, 81, died on Friday, May 4, 2001, at the Wood Dale Nursing Home in Redwood Falls.
Mass of the Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Redwood Falls, with burial with military honors in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the church service Wednesday. Nelson-Martin Funeral Service is handling arrangements. Memorials may be made to St. Catherine's Catholic Church.

Larry R. Trupe, 57, of Owatonna died on Saturday, May 5, 2001, at Owatonna Hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Word of Life Assembly in Owatonna, with burial in Forest Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at Michaelson Funeral Home and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at Word of Life Assembly.
He is survived by his wife Carol of Owatonna; daughter and son-in-law, Laurie and Dan Torgerson of Owatonna; son and daughter-in-law, Chade and Bobbie Trupe of Owatonna; four grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Kathy Trupe of Mora; sisters and brothers-in-law, Irene and Stan Boleen of Golden Valley, and Esta and Ray Larrabe of Racine, Wis.; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers.
He was born on March 23, 1944 to Floyd and Jessie Belle (West) Trupe at Braham. He attended elementary and secondary schools in the Ogilvie area and Minnesota State University-Mankato for a year. He married Carol Stafki in Mason City, Iowa. They moved to Owatonna in 1979 where he worked in sales and restaurant management, including the Perkins restaurant. He was a member of the Word of Life Assembly Church.

Howard M. Hanson, 91, of Gaylord died on Friday, May 4, 2001, at the Arlington Municipal Hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Norwegian Grove Lutheran Church, with burial in the Norwegian Grove Cemetery in rural Gaylord.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord, and one hour prior to services at the church Tuesday.
He is survived by his wife Leona of Gaylord; son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Vitoria Hanson of Arcos, Brazil; daughter Susan Hanson and special friend Horst Knura of Roseville; sister Norma Monson of Gaylord; a granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter in infancy; brother Clifford; and sisters Marjorie Hanson, Betty Hanson and Verona Sjostrom.
He was born on Sept. 5, 1909 to Henry and Hilma (Highberg) Hanson in Lake Prairie Township, Nicollet County. He attended rural schools in Nicollet County and graduated from the University of Minnesota Agriculture School in 1929. He married Leona Briard on Aug. 20, 1936, in rural Gaylord. They farmed the Hanson homestead in Nicollet County until 1946 when they moved to a farm in Sibley Township, Sibley County. In 1992, they moved into Gaylord. He was a member of the Norwegian Grove Lutheran Church and was clerk of Sibley Township Board for 35 years.

Frieda S. Scharmer, 85, of Brownton died on Friday, May 4, 2001, at the Glencoe Area Health Center.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday and from 8 a.m. until the service Tuesday. Hantge Funeral Chapels in Brownton has the arrangements.

Darrell Liesenfeld, 73, of Springfield died on Saturday, May 5, 2001, at St. John Lutheran Home.
Service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Springfield, with burial in Springfield City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield, and continues one hour before the church service.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene of Springfield; daughters and sons-in-law, Rosanne and Donald Wall of Springfield, Vicky and Allen Longhenry of Nassau; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Teresa Liesenfeld of Comfrey; eight grandchildren; and sister, Dale Yarger of Windom.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Gail Grunig; and brother-in-law Russell Yarger.
He was born on Jan. 6, 1928, to Harland and Hazel (Trautman) Liesenfeld in rural Comfrey. He married Arlene Elsing on Nov. 15, 1949, in Comfrey. They farmed the family farm until moving to Springfield in 1988. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Springfield and a past member of Salem Lutheran Church in Comfrey where he served on the church council.

Wallace Benson, 83, of Winthrop, died Thursday, May 3, 2001, at New Ulm Medical Center.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Winthrop with burial in the Winthrop Cemetery.
Visitation is 8-11 a.m. Wednesday at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Winthrop.
Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie of Winthrop; daughter, Karen of the Central African Republic; sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Corrine of Robbinsdale, and Kevin and Becky of Blue Earth; four grandchildren; five sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, and many nieces, nephews and relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, G.L. and Selma Benson; a daughter, the Rev. Joanne Benson; grandson, Zachary Benson; brothers, Paul, Edgar and Milton; and a sister, Edith Nelson.
He was born July 11, 1917, in Cornish Township, Sibley County, to G.L. and Selma (Anderson) Benson. He attended country school. He graduated from Winthrop High School in the spring of 1935. After graduation, he began farming. He married Marjorie Peterson on Feb. 14, 1942, in Winthrop. They farmed in Cornish Township. They retired from farming in the mid 1980s. They moved into Winthrop in 1994. He was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Winthrop, where he was a deacon; served on the trustee board, building committee as a usher and video taper. He also did volunteer work in town, delivering Meals on Wheels.
Memorials are preferred to the Evangelical Covenant Church.

Albin J. Saffert, 92, of New Ulm, died Monday, May 7, 2001, at Sleepy Eye Care Center.
Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm with burial in the Catholic Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by the New Ulm veterans organizations.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-10 a.m. Wednesday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service at 6 p.m., and St. Mary's Catholic Aid Society will pray the rosary at 6:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He is survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Meta Kamm, Matilda Weymann, Louise and Walter Gulden, Marie Schimschock, and Elizabeth and Henry Schaefer all of New Ulm; brothers and sisters-in-law, Roman and Mathilda, Frank and Adeline Saffert all of New Ulm; and a sister-in-law, Hildegard Saffert of New Ulm.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Salome Saffert on Dec. 18, 1992; sister, Amelia Weymann; and a brother, Ambrose Saffert; and brothers-in-law, Harry Weymann, Richard Weymann, Ray Schimschock, and Leo L. Reinhart.
He was born Feb. 9, 1909, in Lafayette Township, Nicollet County, to Frank and Elizabeth (Hoffman) Saffert. He attended school in Lafayette Township. On March 5, 1940, he married Salome Reinhart at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm. He served in the United States Army from April 1942 until October 1945 earning the rank of corporal. He worked for the Artstone Company until he retired. He became a resident of the Sleepy Eye Care Center in Sleepy Eye 2 1/2 years ago. He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Mary's Catholic Aid Society, and Seifert Bianchi American Legion Post 132.

Myron Kiecker, 74, of Fairfax died on Sunday, May 6, 2001, at New Ulm Medical Center.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Lutheran Church in Fairfax, with burial in Ft. Ridgely Cemetery in Ridgely Township, Nicollet County.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today at Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Vernette of Fairfax; daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Vern Peterson, Gina and Ron Marlowe, and Becky and Alan Marti, all of Fairfax; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lucille and John Weigand of Fort Collins, Colo., and Marlene and John Nestande of Fairfax; sister-in-law, Marilyn Kiecker, of Fairfax; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Don; and a grandson, Corey Marlowe.
He was born on July 5, 1926, to Roy and Evelyn (Berger) Kiecker in Wellington Township. He attended Emanuel Parochial School in Wellington Township. He was married to Vernette Firle on June 14, 1950, in Fairfax. They farmed until retiring in 1991 and moving to Fairfax. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Fairfax, serving as trustee, elder and usher. He also served on the cemetery board and was Sunday School Superintendent. He also served on the Fairfax Co-op Creamery Board.
