Herald Harris, 93, of Morgan died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at Gil-Mor Manor in Morgan.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Morgan with burial of cremains at a later date at Zion Ev. Lutheran Cemetery in rural Morgan.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the Nelson-Martin Funeral Horne in Morgan and one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Gusta "Gusty" of Morgan; children, Duane and wife Darlene of Courtland, William of Morgan, Nona Selbrade of Morgan, Arla Langford of Plymouth, Jerald of Quincy, Wash.; and Rodney and wife Lisa, of Redwood Falls; 25 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant son; daughter, Bonnie Wegner; and a brother, Howard.
He was born on Oct. 28, 1907, in Truman to Frank and Edith (Dorthy) Harris. He attended country schools and Truman High School. He married Gusta Urban on Aug. 20, 1935, in Fairmont. From 1935 until 1947 he worked as a farm hand. He then worked at feed mills in Truman and Lewisville. In 1963 he and his wife moved to Morgan where he worked at Harvestland until he retired in 1969. He was a member of the Zion Ev. Lutheran Church.

Grace Schwanke, 99, of Lamberton, died Monday, May 28, 2001, at Valley View Manor, Lamberton.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church, Lamberton with burial in Lamberton Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-9:30 a.m. Thursday at Sturm Funeral Home, Lamberton and at the church, one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by her children, Vernon and Susan of Lamberton, Shirley and Donald Van Prooien of North Potomac, Mass.; Merlin and Diane of Sanborn; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Lyle and Audrey Buller of Marshall; sisters, Florence Cairns of Redwood Falls and Agnes Christensen of Hendricks.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence in 1992; brothers, Elmer, Bill, LeRoy, Allen and a brother in infancy; sisters Alice, Luverne, Helen, Hazel and Gladys.
She was born to Henry and Anna (Schaeffer) Buller on Dec. 20, 1901 in rural Hendricks, Lincoln County. She attended rural school and Mankato Teachers College. She taught in rural schools. She married Clarence T. Schwanke of rural Sanborn on June 19, 1929 in Hendricks. They farmed in rural Hendricks. In January 1969, they retired in Lamberton. She taught adult Bible classes, held various offices in United Methodist Women. She was a charter member of the Floral Garden Club in Lamberton, a former member of Germantown United Methodist Church and currently a member of the Lamberton United Methodist Church.

Glen W. "Boots" Schwerzler, 72 of Sleepy Eye, died Monday, May 28, 2001, at his home.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye, with burial in Home Cemetery, Sleepy Eye. Military rites will be performed by Sleepy Eye Honor Guard.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-10 a.m. Thursday at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye.
He is survived by his children, Rick and Mindi Sue Schwerzler of Sleepy Eye, Leigh and Node Reiner of Alexandria, S.D. and David Schwerzler; stepchildren, Cheryl Sock of Las Vegas, Nev., Nadene and David Dale of Dawson, and Lenny and Arvilla Walters of Grandview, Mo.; three grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; sister, Lois Swenstad of Sleepy Eye and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; twin infant children and two stepgrandsons.
He was born on Feb. 23, 1929, in Morgan to Elmer and Sophie (Hopp) Schwerzler. He attended Morgan Public School. He served in the U.S. Army in 1951 until 1953. He worked with masonry, drove truck for Jemmings and a milk truck for Jensen/Havemeier Trucking. He owned Boots-Hideway in Sleepy Eye and Morgan and also worked at Town's Edge Lumber in Sleepy Eye.

Ona M. Wellnitz, 82, of Morton died Saturday, May 26, 2001, at Franklin Health Care Center.
Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at the Nelson-Martin Funeral Home in Redwood Falls with burial in the Morton City Cemetery.
Visitation begins one hour before the service at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by husband in 1957; daughter, Nola Wellnitz in 2000; three brothers; and three sisters.
She was born on March 15, 1915, in South Dakota. She married Edward Wellnitz at the Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Morton. They lived in Morton. She entered the Franklin Health Care Center in 1992. She was a member of the Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Morton.

June Etter, 79, of Madelia, died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at Madelia Community Hospital.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday, at First Presbyterian Church in Madelia with burial in Riverside Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Pilgrim Funeral Home in Madelia and one hour prior to services at the church.
She is survived by daughter, Terry Etter and husband Glen Adrian of St. James; sister-in-law, Edythe Etter of Madelia; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
She was born Jan. 29, 1922, in Aledo, Ill., to Frank and Clara (Fraser) Baker. She graduated from Madelia High School in 1940. She married Kenneth Etter on Jan. 15, 1944, in Madelia. They lived in Madelia and co-founded Ryter Corp. in 1957. She belonged to First Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and a member of the board of trustees. She was active in the Girl Scouts.

Henry C. "Hank" Leskey, 62, of rural New Ulm, died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato of cancer.
Mass of Christian burial is 10 a.m. Saturday at Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, with burial in the Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday, and 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Firle Funeral Home in New Ulm. A parish prayer service is 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Delores of New Ulm; sons, Thomas Leskey and his wife Cathie of Madison Lake, Timothy Leskey of New Ulm, Travis Leskey and his wife Lisa of New Ulm; daughters, Therese Thorson and her husband Leon of Gibbon, Tamera Thompson and her husband Joel of Parkers Prairie; 18 grandchildren; mother, Mary Leskey of Somerset, Penn.; brothers, John Leskey and his wife Marylyn of Commack Long Island, N.Y., James Leskey and his wife Louise of King George, Va., Robert Leskey and his wife Shirley of Rockwood, Penn.; sisters, Sister Roberta Ann Leskey of King of Prussia, Penn., Mary Catherine Dinning and her husband Dale of Somerset, Penn.; brothers-in-law, John Funk of Buffalo Lake, Bernard "Butch" Funk and his wife Mary of Cokato, Jacob Funk of Olivia; sister-in-law, Catherine "Pearl" Anderson and her husband Gerry of Naperville, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father John Leskey, and grandson Gabriel Thorson.
Henry Carl Leskey, was born July 26, 1938 in Wilson Creek, Penn. to John and Mary (Bielski) Leskey. He graduated from Rockwood High School in 1956. He married Delores Funk on July 12, 1960 in San Diego. They moved to Winthrop where he worked for Fingerhut in Gaylord. In 1974, the family moved to New Ulm where he worked for Heymann Construction until illness forced his retirement in 2000. He was a member of Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm.

Virginia Clobes, 83, formerly of New Ulm died Friday, March 30, 2001 at the Castle Ridge Care Center in Eden Prairie.
Services will be 7 p.m. Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
She is survived by her grandsons, Todd Boelter and his wife, Deb of Delano, Kory Boelter and his wife, Angela of Coon Rapids, Timothy Boelter and his wife, Kimberly of Minnetonka; and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Benjamin Clobes on Feb. 27, 1979; a daughter, Terry E. Boelter on Sept. 18, 1997; and a granddaughter, Kathleen Boelter on Feb. 12, 1967.
Virginia was born May 7, 1917 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Frank and Lottie (Page) Flanigan. She graduated from Fort Dodge High School in Fort Dodge, Iowa in 1936. She married Benjamin Clobes on June 25, 1944 in New Ulm. She worked as a waitress at Esser's Bar and later worked for the Fischer Rexall Drug Store both in New
Ulm. She was an honorary member of the Turner Ladies Society in New Ulm for 32 years and was a member of the Brown County Humane Society.

Robert Dahlberg, 72, of Redwood Falls, died Friday, March 30, 2001.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home in Redwood Falls with burial in Crestlawn Memorial Garden.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to services Tuesday, all at the funeral home.
Robert is survived by his special friend Helen Van Roeckel; five children, Linda and Gary Rockwell, Barb and Larry Loppnow, Scott and Linda Dahlberg, Renee and Travis Raddatz, and Melissa and Anthony Marino; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law Evelyn Dahlberg; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother William; and a sister Margaret Steenhard.
He was born Aug. 20, 1928 in Redwood Falls to Gilman and Mathilda (Juhnke) Dahlberg. He attended Wabasso High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WWII. After the war, he married Evelyn Hansen. Together they farmed in the Redwood area. Years later, he moved to Kenosha, Wis. where he drove truck for Kenosha Auto Transport until his retirement in 1985. He spent his retirement years in Redwood Falls with his special friend Helen Van Roeckel. He was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls.

James P. Hemingway, 75, died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at Field Crest Care Center, Hayfield.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hayfield, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, Hayfield, with military honors by the Hayfield American Legion Rothie Post 330.
Visitation is 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Czaplewski Family Funeral Home in Hayfield is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Hemingway of Hayfield; sons, Porter J. and wife, Shirley Hemingway of New Ulm; James L. Hemingway of Nixa, Mo.; brother, Richard and wife, Shirley Hemingway of Taopi; sister, Betty Weeks of Bloomington; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was born April 20, 1925, to Porter E. and Luella (Peterson) Hemingway in Mower County, Minnesota. He attended Hayfield schools and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II in the India-Burma Theater. He served as chief of police in Hayfield, and also as deputy sheriff in Dodge County. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hayfield. He married Phyllis Lee on Dec. 8, 1946, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hayfield.

Ruben Klein, 83, 911 S. Washington St., New Ulm, died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at his home.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, New Ulm with burial in City Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Firle Funeral Home, New Ulm, and at the church, one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by his wife, Louise of New Ulm; stepson and daughter-in-law, Dale and Lena Eyrich of Humboldt, Iowa; stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Jim Lueck of Eagle Lake, Karen and Ron Matter of New Ulm, Debbie and Lupe Cedillo of New Ulm; nine grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; brother, Albert Klein of Hilmar, Calif.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ida and Alex Rotenberger of Lisbon, N.D., Esther and Hugo Mammenga of New Ulm, Bette and Hugo Schmidt of Fargo, N.D.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a half sister, Rachel Iverson.
He was born Aug. 6, 1917, to Henry and Mollie (Dorn) Klein in Leader, Saskatchewan, Canada. He moved with his family to Lisbon, N.D. where he spent his youth on the family farm and attended school. He farmed until 1967, and moved to New Ulm in 1968. He married Louise (McFolin) Eyrich on April 15, 1972, in New Ulm. He worked for Forstner Fire Apparatus of Madelia and Kraft Foods in New Ulm. He belonged to First United Methodist Church, New Ulm.

Arthur 'Art' Brueske, 82, of 1021 N. Garden St., New Ulm. died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at New Ulm Medical Center.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm with burial in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Esther Brueske of New Ulm; sisters and brother-in-law, Betty and Herbert Tanley, and Loretta Richter all of New Ulm; brother, Norbert Brueske of Minneapolis; sisters-in-law, Veronica Brueske of New Ulm, Marion Brueske of New Ulm, Gloria Brueske of Minneapolis and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Elmer, Raymond, Alfred, Rolland, LeRoy, Delbert, and Norman Brueske; and sister, Gertrude Brueske in infancy.
He was born Oct. 4, 1918, in New Ulm to Herman and Bertha (Magers) Brueske. He attended St. Paul's Lutheran School in New Ulm. On Oct. 9, 1938, he married Esther Garbrecht at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. He worked for Sunlite Produce in New Ulm, Feder Farms in Madelia, and Luebbert Construction Company for 22 years as a supervisor. He was a member of the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the St. Paul's Parish Center.

Mayme L. Swenson, 96, formerly of Winthrop, died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at the Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church in Winthrop with burial in the Winthrop Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop; and continues one hour prior to the service at the church Wednesday.
She is survived by daughter, Linnea Ulrich and husband, Lee, of Brooklyn Center; sons, Donald Swenson and wife, LeAne, of Winthrop, Robert Swenson and wife, Ann, of Janesville, Wis.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Ruth Sogn of North Dakota and Peggy Sogn of New York.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Hannah Sogn; husband, Hilding in September 1993; brothers, Leland, Harold, Toledo and Allan Sogn and Hjelmar Sogn in infancy; and a sister, Thelma Sogn.
She was born on Oct. 9, 1904, in Canton, S.D. to John and Hannah (Dixon) Sogn. She grew up in Bowden, N.D. She graduated from Moorhead High School in 1922 and Concordia College in 1925. She started her career as a teacher at Wild Rose, N. D. She taught history and English from 1925 to 1929. She moved to Winthrop the fall of 1929. She taught at the Winthrop High School from 1929 to 1935. She married Hilding Robert Swenson on Sept. 9, 1936, in Bowden, N.D. They farmed in Transit Township, Sibley County. She attended Mankato State and received her minor to become a librarian. She returned to teaching in 1957, serving also as part-time librarian, until her retirement in 1970. She moved to Carver Homes Plus Nov. 1, 1997. She then resided at Arlington and Winthrop Good Samaritan Centers before moving to the Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine on May 19, 1998. She was a member of Winthrop First Lutheran Church, the Mary Circle, PTA, and the Winthrop Study Club. She was a member of the 1964 high school addition committee, and she received the Winthrop Schools Alumni Association's Award of Appreciation in 1996.

Phyllis (Mrs. Robert) Gerber, formerly of Searles, died March 29, 2001, at her home in Lakeworth, Fla.
Mass of Christian burial was held Monday in Lakeworth.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Gerber; sons, Robert Jr. and wife Christine, Thomas and wife Nan; James and wife Vina, and Richard and wife Twyla; daughter, Mary and husband Sam Bean; sister, Beatrice Kluck of Mankato and brother, Stanley Schnobrich of New Ulm, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Isidor and Mary Schnobrich; son, Douglas, aunts and uncles, mother-in-law and father-in-law Frank and Margaret Gerber, and brother-in-law, James Gerber.
She was born Sept. 4, 1922, in Cottonwood Township to Isidor and Mary (Fesenmeier) Schnobrich. She married Robert F. Gerber on Dec. 13, 1943.

Ingebor S. Roberts, 101, of Mankato, died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at Oaklawn Health Care Center.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Lake Crystal, with burial in Jerusalem Cemetery, Judson Township, Blue Earth County, in the spring.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at Lake Crystal Mortuary and one hour before services Wednesday at church.
Memorials may be given to First Presbyterian Church, Lake Crystal or Jerusalem Cemetery Association.
She is survived by son and his wife, Richard and Janet Roberts of Osakis; daughters and their husbands, Janice and George Schneiter of Mankato, Connie and Carl Buhr of Rapidan, Georgia and Frank Carthey of New Ulm; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; nephews, nieces and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988, three sisters and one brother.
She was born on Nov. 16, 1899, in LeCenter to Edward and Martha (Colson) Solberg. She graduated from LeCenter High School in 1918 and Mankato Normal School (now Minnesota State University at Mankato) in 1921. She taught at Judson Consolidated School when it opened in 1919.
She married Ivan H. Roberts on Aug. 30, 1921. They farmed in Judson Township for 67 years. She was active in many community and church affairs. She played violin in several orchestral groups.
