Lila G. Schaffran, 82, of Lamberton and formerly of Revere, died April 14, 2001, at Valley View Manor, Lamberton.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Lamberton with burial in the Lamberton Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today and 7:30-9 a.m. Wednesday at Sturm Funeral Home in Lamberton and continues one hour prior to the service at the church.
She is survived by husband, Harvey Schaffran of Lamberton; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Sara Schaffran of Lamberton; daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie and husband Jim Shemon of Spicer, Vonnie and husband Rodney Kussatz of Converse, Texas; nine grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren; sister, Agnes Fick of Blue Earth; sister-in-law, Irene and husband Bernell (Bud) Petermann.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son in infancy; and sisters, Lenora Renneke and Candace Fick.
She was born Jan. 18, 1919, in North Hero Township Redwood County, Minn., to Edward and Clara (Evenson) Fick. She graduated from Lamberton High School. in 1936. She attended Lamberton Teachers Training Department. She taught at a country school for 13 years. She married Harvey Schaffran on March 28, 1951, at Revere Lutheran Church. They lived in Vesta and then moved to the family farm near Revere in 1954. They retired from farming in 1969 and moved into Lamberton in 1997. She was a former member of Revere Lutheran Church was a current member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Lamberton. She was an active member of the Revere Lutheran Ladies Aid and the Revere Legion Auxiliary.

Kim M. Tabbert, 42, of Inver Grove Heights, died April 15, 2001, of cancer.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Inver Grove Heights.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. today at Roberts Funeral Home, 8108 Barbara Ave., Inver Grove Heights, and one hour before services at the church.
He is survived by wife, Polly; children, Daniel, Jacob, and Rebecca; mother, Gloria Tabbert of New Ulm; sisters, RaNae Drexler, Cindy and Tom Jennings, Julie and Ron Schwint; father and mother-in-law, Curt and Myrna Kroening; and other relatives.

John Baumann, 85, of Lamberton, died Sunday, April 15, 2001, at Springfield Medical Center.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Lamberton, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday 9:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday at Sturm Funeral Home, Lamberton. A parish prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Military rites will be performed by the Storden American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Edith of Lamberton; children, Diane Spross of St. Paul, John of Wabasso, Paul of Sac City, Iowa, Paulette and Gerard Fisher of Springfield, and Laurie of St. Paul, Jennifer and fiance' James Selfe of Sanborn; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Bernard of Montevideo and Jerome of Hooper, Neb.; sisters Gertrude Iverson of Lamberton, Loretta Quiring of Lamberton, Agnes Amburn of Rapid City, S.D., and Irene Hofmann of Benson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; daughter, Sue Nelson; and brothers, Edward and Lavern.
He was born May 25, 1915, in Lamberton to John and Amelia (Guggisberg) Baumann. He served in the Army 1941to 1945 during World War II in Algeria French Morocco, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe. He married Edith Anderson in Lamberton. The couple lived in Highwater Township. In 1968 he started working with the Storden Elevator and retired in 1980. They moved into Lamberton in 1991. He was member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lamberton and a member of the Legion in Storden.

Elizabeth M. 'Betty' Welch, 95, of Arlington, died Saturday, April 14, 2001 at Arlington Good Samaritan Center.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Arlington, with burial in St. Brendan Catholic Cemetery, Green Isle.
The Fenske Funeral Home of Arlington is handling arrangements.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the Thursday Mass at the church. A rosary will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church.
She is survived by her sister, Margaret "Peg" Gillespie of Arlington; sister-in-law, Irene Welch of Minnesota Lake; and a niece and nephew, Thomas and Margaret Lubitz of Delevan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Michael; a brother, Frank Ventura; sisters, Cellia Scott, and Viola Fredine.
She was born on Feb. 3, 1906, in St. Paul to John Elizabeth (Richter) Ventura. She attended school in Norwood and Good Counsel in Mankato. She married Michael Welch on Aug. 23, 1924, at the St. Paul Cathedral. They farmed in Green Isle until 1949 when they purchased the Phillip 66 Station which they operated until retiring in 1966. She was a former member of St. Anne's Altar and Rosary Society. She was amember of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Alvin Meffert, 84, of Arlington, died Sunday, April 15, 2001, at Arlington Good Samaritan Center.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Arlington, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Fenske Funeral Home, Arlington; at the church Thursday, one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by his son, Walter of San Martin, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Bill Meline of Minnetonka; brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Mildred of Arlington; sisters, Lucille Will of Winthrop and Frieda Zimmerman of Huntingdon Beach, Calif.; five grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ottilie in March 2000, two brothers, Willie and Elmer.
He was born in Arlington on Feb. 23, 1917, to Herman and Emma (Rischmiller) Meffert. He married Ottilie Pomplun on Oct. 8, 1940, in Spring Valley. He lived on a farm until June 2000 when he moved to the Arlington Good Samaritan Center. He worked for the LeSueur Foundry, seasonally at the Big Stone Canning Co. and at Glencoe Manufacturing.

Carolyn (Casey) Victoria Marti, nee Case, of 1900 Schell Road, New Ulm, died Sunday morning, April 15, 2001, at the New Ulm Medical Center.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church in New Ulm with burial to follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the Firle Funeral Home in New Ulm, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Orient Chapter No. 60, Order of the Eastern Star service will be 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Carolyn Marti was born July 22, 1922, in New Ulm to Carl and Marie (Christensen) Case. She graduated from New Ulm High School in 1940 and was married to past president of the August Schell Brewing Company, Warren Alfred Marti on July 20, 1947. She was employed by the City of New Ulm and later the August Schell Brewing Company where she worked until retirement in 1987.
Carolyn was a member of Orient Chapter No. 60 Order of the Eastern Star; Turner Ladies; Shrine Auxiliary; Brown County Historical Society; Humane Society; New Ulm Country Club; and was very active in numerous bridge clubs.
She is survived by three sons and their families: Georg A. Marti and wife Paula (St. John) of Cambria, and children G. Adam and his child Toni Tauer, Frieda, John, Benjamin; Theodore W. Marti and wife Jodi (Evans) of Cambria, and children Jace, Kyle, Franz; Charles J. Marti and wife Gloria (Punchard) of Ostrander, Ohio, and children, Molly Hastings, and Marcie and husband Paul Pfeiffer and their child Jeanette; sister, Betty Norton of Lubbock, Texas; sister-in-law, Carol (Marti) Langsjoen of Temple, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Marie Case; husband, Warren A. Marti in 1993; sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Howard Schnobrich; sister-in-law and her husband, Cleo (Marti) and Harold (Brady) Bieraugel; nephew, Tom Bieraugel; and brothers-in-law, Frank Marti, Richard Norton, and Per Langsjoen.
Memorials are preferred to the donor's choice.

Mary M. Regner, 93, of Gaylord, died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at the Good Samaritan Center in Arlington.
Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Gaylord. Burial will be in the Gaylord Municipal Cemetery.
Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Friday and 7:30-10 a.m. Saturday at Egesdal Funeral Home, Gaylord. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Friday followed by a rosary at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Virginia V. Alwin, 89, of Flagstaff, Ariz., died Friday, April 6, 2001, at her home.
Her ashes will be placed in the family plot in the New Ulm cemetery.
She is survived by nieces and their spouses, Audrey and Lloyd Reichstadt of Flagstaff, Ariz., Sharon and Merle Heard of Lake Wilson; nephews and their spouses, Dean Minnett of Ruthon, Jerry and Karen Minett of Ruthon, Jack and Joyce Alwin of Minnetonka, Michael Alwin of Stillwater and Roger Erickson of Bloomington.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Lloyd and Wilbur Alwin; and sisters, Winona Erickson, Olive Minett, Myrtle Alwin and Evelyn Beesskow.
She was born April 14, 1911, in New Ulm, to Edward and Anna (Schneider) Alwin. She graduated from Hamline University in 1933, with a B.A. degree. She earned a master's degree from the University of Iowa in 1946 and a doctorate in English education from the University of Minnesota in 1958. She taught English at Northern Arizona University. She wrote high school textbooks. She was selected Arizona English Teacher of the Year in 1976. During retirement, she volunteered for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Flagstaff.

Rose A. Prokosch, 96, of Lamberton, died Monday, April 16, 2001, at Valley View Manor, Lamberton.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 7:30-9:30 a.m. Friday at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. There will be a Christian Mothers rosary at 4 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home Thursday.
She is survived by daughter, Elaine and her husband Albert Reiner, of Springfield; son, Tom, and wife Margie Prokosch of Comfrey; 22 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Verna Rein of Shakopee; and sister-in-law, Leah Hillesheim of Forest Lake.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Margaret Hillesheim; husband, John "Jack" Prokosch; son, John, and wife Trudy Prokosch; grandson, Todd Prokosch; granddaughter, Connie Prokosch; brothers, Hubert Hillesheim, Leonard Hillesheim, Herman Hillesheim, Arthur Hillesheim, Henry F. Hillesheim, Nick Hillesheim and Edwin "Sam" Hillesheim; and sisters, Margaret Busch and Kathryn Rubey.
She was born Jan. 2, 1905, in Stark Township, Brown County, to Joseph and Margaret (Mertz) Hillesheim. She attended country school in Iberia and St. Mary's School in Sleepy Eye. She married John Prokosch on Jan. 15, 1924, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. She farmed with her husband and family until 1958. She then became a housekeeper for several priests. She was also a cook at the Comfrey Hospital until her retirement. She was a member of the Christian Mothers Society.

Minnie C. Meyer, 101, of Arlington, died Monday, April 16, 2001, at Arlington Good Samaritan Center.
Services are 7:30 p.m. Friday at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Arlington. Burial is 10 a.m. Saturday in the Arlington Public Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.
The Fenske Funeral Home, Arlington, is handling the arrangements.
She is survived by her sister, Elsie Luff, of Arlington; niece, Pauline Wiemann; and nephews, Robert Wiemann, Gene, Donald, Glen and Kenneth Luff.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Freda Wiemann; and two brothers in infancy.
She was born July 11, 1899, in Arlington Township, Sibley County, to John and Paulina (Frenzel) Meyer. She attended 11 years of school. She held many jobs throughout her life. She taught country school. She worked at Dayton's in Minneapolis, at the former Union Mercantile in Arlington, at the Arlington Creamery, at Central Telephone Company as an operator and at the Fenske Funeral Home in Arlington. She was a member of the St. Paul's Mission Club and the Arlington Garden Club.

Patricia A. Scheffler, 57, of rural Olivia, died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at Redwood Area Hospital.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Friday at United Methodist Church in Morton with burial in the Beaver Falls Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday and continues 8:30-11 a.m. Friday at Nelson-Martin Funeral Home in Redwood Falls and one hour prior to the service at the church.
She is survived by her husband, Theodore "Ted" Scheffler of Olivia; children, Russ and his wife Kathy of Lino Lakes; Linda and fiance Matthew Virnig of Yucca Valley, Calif.; brother, Ed Brooks of Olivia; sister, Marilyn Lindeman and husband Myron of Redwood Falls; nephews and nieces; and several great-nephews and great-nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Irma Brooks; parent-sin-laws, Henry and Marge Scheffler; sister-in-law, Patricia Brooks; and brother-in-law Richard E. Scheffler.
She was born Dec, 7, 1943, in Olivia, to Raymond and Irma (Bowers) Brooks. She graduated from Olivia High School in 196 1. She worked at Jordahl Dental Clinic for five years. On Feb. 26, 1968, she married Theodore Scheffler at Morton. They farmed in Norfolk Township. She was an active member of The United Methodist Church in Morton including teaching Sunday School, leading UMYF and holding various church offices. She was a volunteer for the Red Cross Bloodmobile and served as president of the Beaver Falls Cemetery Board.

Laura Brecht, 87, of Stewart, died Monday, April 16, 2001, at Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stewart with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is noon until time of service Friday at the church.
Arrangements are handled by Hughes Funeral Home.
She is survived by children, David Brecht of Minneapolis, and Virge Ann Peterson and her husband Virgil of Hector; grandchildren, Scott Peterson and his wife Mary of Sauk Centre and their children Randy, Amanda, and Kelly; and Brad Peterson of Hector; sister, Erna Neuhaus of Stewart; and by many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by infant daughter, Betty Jane; brothers: Frank, Art, Frebert, Louis, Otto Jr., Herbert, and Edward, and sister, Lydia.
She was born June 27, 1913, in Stewart, to Otto mid Amelia Wangerin. She attended rural school. On Dec. 13, 1931, she married Harold Brecht at the St. Paul's Lutheran parsonage in Stewart. The couple lived and farmed in the Stewart area. After her husband's death in 1962, she moved into Stewart. She became a resident of Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center in January 1992. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stewart where she was active in Ladies Aid, and was a Sunday School teacher.

Alvaretta 'Polly' McCleary, 84, of Jeffers, died Monday, April 16, 2001, at the Sogge Good Samaritan Community in Windom.
Services are 2 p.m. today at Jeffers United Methodist Church, with burial in the Jeffers Cemetery.
Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. today at the Anderson-Schmidt Funeral Home in Jeffers, and 12:30-2 p.m. today at the church.

Mary M. Regner, 93, of Gaylord, died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at the Good Samaritan center in Arlington.
Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Gaylord with burial in the Gaylord Municipal Cemetery.

Hildegard Aitken of Moodus, Conn., Mary Ann and Kenneth Siems of Minneapolis and Catherine and John Lauruhn of Wasilla, Alaska; sons and daughter-in-laws, Edward Regner of New Ulm, Joseph and Sylvia Regner of Austin, Texas, Alois and Alice Regner of Winthrop and Michael and Elaine Regner of Winthrop; sisters, Anne Altermatt of Wabasso and Amelia Gores of Federal Ways, Wash; 35 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her spouse in 1997; brothers, Joe Kahs and Anton Kahs.
She was born Oct. 30, 1907, in Wabasso, to Anton and Catherine (Guetter) Kahs. She married Joseph Regner on Sept. 16, 1930, at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Wabasso. They famed in the St. George and Lafayette areas until 1942 when they purchased a farm in Alfsborg Township, rural Gaylord. She was a member of the St. Michael's Catholic Church in Gaylord and the CCW.

Selma Palmer, 89 of Winthrop, died Sunday, April 15, 2001, at Arlington Municipal Hospital.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Bernadotte Lutheran Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 9-11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis of Winthrop; daughter and son-in-law, Adrianne and Lowell Sjostrom of Winthrop; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters and bothers-in-law, Erna Trebelhorn of Northfield and Ruth and Henry Trebelhorn of Richfield; brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Anna Bauer of Brownton; sisters-in-law, Lily Franke of Gaylord, Hilda Bauer of Stewart, Luella Bauer of Gaylord; brother-in-law and wife, Donald and Helen Palmer of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Agnes Wetterlin; and brothers, Arnold and Leonard Bauer.
She was born Sept. 29, 1911, to William and Mary (Brede) Bauer in Transit Township, Sibley County. She attended parochial school in Mountville and graduated from Winthrop High School in 1929. She attended teaching training in Mankato. She taught at Zarnott School District 49 for six years. She married Dennis Palmer on Nov. 24, 1935, in Mountville. They lived in Winthrop and Gaylord. In 1937, they moved to the Bernadotte Store, which they operated for six years. In 1944, they bought the Hed/Palmer farm in Alfsborg Township. They farmed until 1982, when they retired and moved into Winthrop. She was a member of Bernadotte Lutheran Church, where she was a past Sunday School teacher and a member of the ELCW. She was a former 4-H Leader for the Be Square Club.
