Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Church of the Nativity in Cleveland with burial in Calvary Cemetery in Cleveland.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday with a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. at the church and continues one hour before services Thursday.
St. Peter Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by wife, Rita of Cleveland; sons-and daughters-in-law, Gary and Joan of Madison Lake, Bill and Sue of Madison Lake, Mike of Le Sueur, Rich and Colleen of Madison Lake, Russ and Ann of Sleepy Eye, Randy and Lori of Macomb, Ill., Tim and Jenn of Waconia, Chris of Mankato, Don and Jennifer of Cleveland, Doug and Anne of Cleveland; daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Tim Smith of Temecula, Calif., Peggy and John Michalski of Spokane, Wash., Kim and Keith Oeltjenbruns of North Mankato; brother and sister-in-law, Francis and Renne of Cleveland; sisters, Marion and husband Chris Kienlen of St. Peter, Harriet Schmidt of Le Center; 27 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brother, John.
He was born April 4, 1925, in Cleveland to John and Florence (Meyer) McCabe. He graduated from Cleveland High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1944. He married Rita Mae Krenik on Aug. 22, 1950, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in LeCenter. They farmed near Cleveland. He sold feed and health aid products for the Ralston Purina Company. He worked for WINCO in LeCenter. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Cleveland American Legion.

Logan Biehn, 27 days, infant son of Collin and Jenny Biehn of Lake Crystal, died Saturday, April 21, 2001, at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Cleveland with burial in the Cleveland Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation is 11 a.m. until time of services Wednesday at the church. St. Peter Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his parents; brother, Samuel ; grandparents Kris Karpen of Hanska, Denise and Glen Ferguson of Lake Crystal, Colette and Terry Biehn of Madison Lake; great-grandparents, Bethel Perkins of Mesa, Ariz., Darold Perkins of Waseca, Janet Wenninger of New Ulm, Lenard Wenninger of Amiret; great-great-grandparents, Gladys Mahler of Mesa, Ariz. and Ruth Fostveit of Waseca; and many other relatives.
He was preceded in death by great-grandparents, Wayne and Opal Biehn, Joe and Bernice Karpen, and Merwin and Jorie Ferguson.
He was born on March 24, 2001, at Methodist Hospital in Rochester.

Taylor Lynn Anderson, 13 months, of Redwood Falls, died Sunday, April 22, 2001, at Fairview Hospital in Minneapolis of heart complications.
Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St, Catherine's Catholic Church in Redwood Falls
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Redwood Valley Funeral Home in Redwood Falls with burial in the Redwood Falls Cemetery.
She is survIved by parents, Darwin and Tara (Dauer) Anderson of Redwood Falls; maternal grandparents, Barb and Rich Dauer of Springfield; paternal grandparents, Dalton and Peg Anderson of Arizona, and Gary and JoAnn Waterman of Cabo Sall Lucas, Mexico; aunts; uncles; and many other relatives and friends.
She was born March 22, 2001, at Redwood Area Hospital in Redwood Falls. to Darwin and Tara Lynn (Dauer) Anderson. She spent the last eight months of her life at Fairview University Hospital in Minneapolis.

John J. Sondag, 72, formerly of New Ulm, died Monday, April 23, 2001, at the St. Peter Community Hospital.
Mass of Christian burial is 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm City Cemetery, Soldiers Rest Section. Full military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by the New Ulm veterans organizations.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today and 7:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Lorie and Henry Gieseke of rural New Ulm; sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Lynnette Sondag of rural Lafayette, Michael and Geneva Sondag of rural Hanska, Daniel and Deidre Sondag of rural Gibbon, Gregory and Wendy Sondag of rural New Ulm, and Sidney and Yvonne Sondag of Royalton; 21 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; sisters, Katherine Wolling of Franklin, and Lorraine Dawning of Minneapolis; brothers, Frances "Lyle" and his wife, Marion Sondag of Appleton, and Charles "'Nook" Sondag of New Ulm.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruby Sondag on Dec. 11, 1988, and by a brother, Raymond Sondag.
He was born Feb. 17, 1929, in Granby Township, Nicollet County, to John H. and Marie (Itschert) Sondag.
He attended country school in Granby Township, Nicollet County. He served in the United States Army from January 1951 to December 1953. On April 16, 1952, he married Ruby Willaby at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. They farmed in rural New Ulm for a short time, then farmed in Franklin, Sanborn, Jeffers, and Louisville, returning to rural New Ulm in 1963. He continued to farm until 1973. He worked for J & R Schugel Trucking Inc. in New Ulm until he retired in 1988. He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm.

Harry Smith, 86 of Winthrop, died Monday, April 23, 2001, at his home in Winthrop.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at the Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop, with burial in the Winthrop Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 7:30-11 a.m.. Friday at Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Sharon of Brownton, grandson, Charles Smith and wife, Pam of Maple Grove; great-grandchildren, Connor Smith, Emma Smith; brothers, Harold and Harvey of Galesburg, Ill.; sisters, Rosa of Galesburg, Ill. Ellen Lind of Winthrop; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on Feb. 19, 1988; brother, Roy Smith; sister; Mabel Tullgren; and a sister in infancy.
He was born Nov. 16, 1914, in Kelly Township, Warren County, Ill., to Edwin and Edna (Ellickson) Smith. He worked as an auto mechanic and owned his own service station. He married Lillian Ericson on March 3, 1940, at Lafayette. They farmed in Bismarck Township, and he repaired cars. The couple moved to Gibbon where he ran Smith Auto Service. In 1964, they moved to Winthrop where he repaired and sold autos. He was a member of Faith United Church in Winthrop.

Alfred Hartwig, 88, of Redwood Falls, died Saturday, April 21, 2001, at his home. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Redwood Falls, with burial in Redwood Falls Cemetery.
Visitation is 10 a.m. until the service at the church. Nelson-Martin Funeral Service is handling arrangements.
He is survived by children, Barbara of Redwood Falls, Sue Hatcher of Mankato and Steve of Mounds View; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and brother and sister-in-law, Elmer and Delores of Mankato.
He was preceded in death by t sisters, Gertrude Raddatz, Hilda Raddatz and Helen Hartwig.
He was born on Aug. 29, 1912, in Three Lakes Township, Redwood County, to Albert and Alvina (Arndt) Hartwig. He attended District 497 country schools. On Nov. 25, 1943, he married Elizabeth Rasmussen in Redwood Falls. They farmed in Three Lakes Township until retiring in 1989. They later moved to Redwood Falls. She died April 19, 2000. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Harold E. Chute, 82, of St. Joseph, died Sunday, April 22, 2001, at his home. He was the husband of Beata Brand Wolak Chute, formerly of the New Ulm area.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Methodist Church in St. Cloud, with burial in the Lakeview Cemetery in Aitkin with military honors.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Daniel Funeral Home in St. Joseph and one hour before services Thursday at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Beata of St. Joseph; children and their spouses, Janet and David Czeck, Julie and Donald Schreifels, Janet and David Wells, June Anderson, Joyce Chute and Dale Cannon, Peter Chute; 11 stepchildren; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and brothers, Russell and Robert.
He was born June 12, 1918, in Aitkin, to H. Edward and Julia (Hoving) Chute. He married Beata Brand Wolak on Feb. 14, 1984, in St. Could. He served in the Navy during World War II.

Gretchen Grewe, 88, of Gaylord, died Monday, April 23, 2001, at the Arlington Municipal Hospital.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church Mountville, rural Gaylord, with burial in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, rural Gaylord.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Friday at Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord and at the church, one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, LeRoy and Ruth Ann Grewe of Gaylord; sisters and brothers-in-law, Verna and Orville Boehnen of Young America, Donna and Ellsworth Hahn of Gaylord; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gordon and Pearl Kloempken of Glencoe, Alex and Elda Kloempken of New Auburn; son-in-law, Darwin Goetsch of Arlington; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Fred, in 1974; daughter, Betty Ann Goetsch; and brother Melvin Kloempken.
She was born Dec. 25, 1912, in Echo to John and Margaret (Weckop) Kloempken. She married Fred Grewe on Sept. 10, 1935, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Mountville, rural Gaylord. She attended school near New Auburn. They farmed in rural Gaylord. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church (Mountville) and was a Mission Society member for 60 years. In 1981, she moved to Gaylord.

Henry Pankratz, 82, of Springfield, died Monday, April 23, 2001, at Springfield Medical Center.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Raphael's Catholic Church, Springfield, with burial in the church cemetery with graveside military honors by John Watson American Legion Post 257 of Springfield.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 7:30-10 a.m. Friday at Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield. A parish prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. A men's rosary will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Angeline of Springfield; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Cindy Pankratz of Alexandria; daughters and sons-in-law, Jacqueline and Greg Wenner of Spring Grove, Debra and Steve Baumann of Marshall, Gail and Thomas Hegland of Lino Lakes; daughter-in-law Karen and her husband Joe Kral of Springfield; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and brothers, Roman of Springfield and Clarence and his wife Elaine of Anoka.
He was preceded In death by his parents; son, Mark in 1990; grandson, Jason Pankratz in 1977; a brother Robert in 1996; and a sister-in-law, Adeline Pankratz in 1990.
He was born Nov. 10, 1918, in Brookville Township, Redwood County, to Alexander and Anna (Fernkes) Pankratz. He attended country school. He worked in the aircraft factory in Inglewood, Calif., before enlisting in the U. S. Navy in 1942 during World War II. He was a metal smith at Camp Perry Va., Norfolk, Va., and Chesapeake Bay, Md. He was discharged March 11, 1946. He married Angeline Kotten, on Feb. 14, 1950, at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield. They farmed in rural Springfield for 30 years, retiring in Springfield in 1980. He was a past commander of John Watson American Legion Post 0257. He was a 50-year member of St. Thomas Court and Catholic Order of Foresters. He was a supervisor on the Burnstown Township Board. He did field inspections for the State of Minnesota. He was a member of St Raphael's Parish.

LeRoy Drill, 86, of rural Courtland, died Tuesday, April 24, 2001, at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Courtland, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday at Firle Funeral Home in New Ulm, and one hour prior to services at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Anna of Courtland; son, Richard Drill and his wife Pearl, of Courtland; stepdaughters, Catherine Woitas of Mankato, Adeline Armstong and her husband William of St. Cloud, Carol Beske and her husband Grant of Princeton, N.J., and Marsha Dawson of Ceylon; two grandsons; three great-granddaughters; 12 stepgrandchildren; 11 stepgreat-grandchildren; two stepgreat-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by sister, Josephine Kraus; and brothers, George, Alfred, John, and Edwin Drill.
LeRoy Otto Drill was born Feb. 9, 1915, in Courtland Township, Nicollet County, to John and Emma (Meyer) Drill. He attended Immanuel Lutheran School. He was a farmer and also worked for Zimmerman Construction Company for many years. He married Anna (Kulla) Leininger on Jan. 31, 1973, in New Ulm. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Courtland; a past member of the Mankato Moose Lodge No. 1414 and the Mankato Eagles Club.
Memorials are preferred to the donor's choice.

Hilda Nielsen, 87, of Buffalo Lake, died Tuesday, April 24, 2001, at the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Buffalo Lake with burial in Elmhurst Cemetery, St. Paul.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the church service.
Arrangements are with Hughes Funeral Home, Hector.
She is survived by her son-in-law, Harvey Zabel of Delano; brother and sister-in-law, Otto and Molly Ahlbrecht of Hector; seven nieces and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter VaLaine, husband, Henry Vick in 1963; husband, Niels Nielsen in 1984; sister, Clara Kandt in 1994; and her brother, Hilbert in 1983.
She was born April 2,1914, in Grafton Township, Sibley County, Minnesota, to Otto and Bertha (Fleisch) Ahlbrecht. She attended District 20 School in Grafton Township. She moved to Lake Lillian, Minnesota. She married Henry Vick in Lake Lillian. The couple made their home in Lake Lillian, and later moved to St. Paul. She married Niels Nielsen on June 27, 1964 in St. Paul. They lived in St. Paul. She became a resident of the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center in October 1999.

Ruth C. Menk, 96, formerly of Rt. 2, Nicollet, died Tuesday, April 24, 2001 at the Grandview Good Samaritan Center in St. Peter.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Swan Lake Lutheran Church in Brighton Township, Nicollet County, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour before the service at church.
Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Nicollet is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mavis and Kenley Zwiefel of Fenton, Iowa; grandchildren, Aaron Zwiefel of Sunrise, Fla., Heather Woods of Wellington, Fla., Dr. Korey Zwiefel of Clear Lake, Iowa, Jason Zwiefel of Byron, Jermey Zwiefel of Tumwater, Wash., Heidi Kawleski of Nekoosa, Wisconsin, Halicia Zwiefel of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Nathan Zwiefel of Fenton, Iowa; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry W. Menk on June 19, 1988; sisters, Ella Miner, and Verna Nelson; brothers, William, Reuben and Milton Larson.
She was born March 31, 1905, in Grandby Township, Nicollet County, to Joseph and Clara (Peterson) Larson. She graduated from St. Peter High School. She married Harry W. Menk on Feb. 28, 1943, in Mankato. They farmed in Grandby Township, Nicollet County, until retiring in 1978. She became a resident of the Grandview Good Samaritan Center in St. Peter in 1995. She was a member of the Swan Lake Lutheran Church, where she belonged to Ladies Aid and Sewing Circle.

Vinola "Vi" Nielsen, 92, formerly of Cornish Township and Lindstrom-Chisago City area, died on Tuesday, April 24, 2001, at Presbyterian Home of Roseville.
Services are 3 p.m. Saturday at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church, Center City, with burial in Hillside Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by daughters, Mary Allen of Pleasant Hill, Calif., Karen Pike of St. Paul, and Marvel and Gary King of Minneapolis; four grandsons; two great-grandsons; and brother, Myron Carlson of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; sons-in-law, Ron Pike and Tom Tallman; brothers, Ronald and Vernon Carlson; and infant daughter.
She was born Sept. 16, 1908, to Charles and Hilma (Lunderborg) Carlson in Cornish Township. She attended District 56 school. Following years of employment at the University of Minnesota, she married George Nielsen of Golden Valley in 1940. They rented a dairy farm near Lindstrom and, in 1943, purchased the Cornish Township farm owned by her father. She was active in Clear Lake Lutheran Church activities. Following retirement, they moved to a lake home in Lindstrom and later to the Point Pleasant Retirement Community in Chisago City. In December 2000, she moved to Presbyterian Home in Roseville.

Mae Johnson, 83, of Buffalo Lake, died Sunday April 22, 2001, at the Hutchinson Medical Center.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Zion United Methodist Church, Buffalo Lake with burial in Buffalo Lake City Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at Zion United Methodist Church and Friday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers. Arrangements are with Hughes Funeral Home of Hector.
She is survived by an aunt, many cousins, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Dick.
She was born Oct. 23, 1917, in Stewart, to Herman and Aneila (Boehlke) Gaulke. She attended the Fulton Grade School and graduated from West High School in Minneapolis. She graduated from the University of Minnesota. She taught in Northern Wisconsin, Danube, and for 34 years in Buffalo Lake. She married Dick Johnson on Aug. 27, 1947, in Buffalo Lake, where the couple lived. She belonged to Zion United Methodist Church where she was a trustee, member of the Sewing Circle, Scholarship Committee and Library Committee. She was also a very active member of the Eastern Star.
