Glen Vinderslev, 52, died at his home in Winthrop Monday, June 18, 2001.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Chokio with burial at Chokio Lutheran Cemetery, rural Chokio.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and Friday at the church, one hour prior to services.
He is survived by his brother Daryl (June) Vinderslev of Appleton; two sisters, Karen (Woody) Blasing of Frazee and Margo (Jim) Marks of Woodbury; seven nieces and nephews and many other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
He was born July 22, 1948 to Leonard and Mabel (Zimmerman) Vinderslev in Blair, Neb. He grew up in Chokio and graduated from Chokio High School in 1966. He attended Willmar Technical School and Willmar Junior College, where he graduated in 1969. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in January 1970. He received a purple heart for injuries received in Pan mun jom, Korea in October of 1970. In the winter of 1972, he attended Moorhead State University, graduating in 1973. Glen did graduate work at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro and also at the University of Missouri. He was currently working as a systems analyst in the computer field.

Clarence Blumhoefer, 76, of Fairfax, died Wednesday, June 20, 2001, at the Sunwood Care Center, Redwood Falls.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Fairfax, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday and 7:30-8 a.m. Saturday at the Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel, Fairfax and one hour prior to services at the church. A rosary service will be at 6 p.m. and parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral chapel.

Adolph A. Bussler, 86, of Winthrop, died Wednesday, June 20, 2001, at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bismarck Township, Sibley County, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday and 7:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop and one hour prior to services at the church.
He is survived by his wife Ruth of Gaylord Lakeview Home; sons, Dennis of Winthrop and Jerry and his wife Annie of Rapid City, S.D.; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice, in infancy; parents; brothers Albert, Edward, Richard, Rudolph, Waldemar and Harold; and sisters, Minnie, Alma, Adella, Elsie and Viola.
He was born March 31, 1915, in Transit Township, to August G. and Emma Ottilie Maria (Schiroo) Bussler. He grew up in Transit Township, where he attended country school.
He married Ruth E. Rickert on Sept. 24, 1937, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton. He did carpentry work with his brothers. The couple farmed with relatives for a few years. They moved to Fairfax in 1940 and managed a farm operation there. In 1943, they rented Milton Frank's farm in Bismarck Township. In 1944 they rented a farm in Transit Township, which they later purchased. They lived there until 1969, when they purchased the Martin Becke farm in Bismarck Township. They moved to Winthrop in 1995. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Bismarck Township. He served as council president, church treasurer, church council member, cemetery board member and Sunday school board member. He served as supervisor for eight years on the Transit Township Board.

Nettie Goudy, 92, of Wabasso, died Wednesday, June 20, 2001 at the Wood Dale Nursing Home in Redwood Falls.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at New Avon United Methodist church in New Avon Township, with burial in the Crestlawn Memorial Gardens, rural Redwood Falls. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the Nelson-Martin Funeral Home in Redwood Falls and one hour prior to services at the church.
She is survived by her husband, James of Wabasso; and children, Donna Newman and husband Paul, of Huntingdon, Tenn., Merlin of Wabasso, Patricia Keener of Sioux Falls, S.D. and Phyllis Judson of Wabasso; 10 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brother Lendale Berg of Prior Lake and sister Alice Campbell of Redwood Falls,
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Jesse, Clinton, Glen and Russell Berg, and a brother and sister in infancy.
She was born July 17, 1908 in Charlestown Township, Redwood County, to Leander and Emma (Weldon) Berg. She lived in Charlestown Township until 1913 when she moved with her family to Vail Township and attended Wabasso Public Schools. She married James N. Goudy on April 24, 1930, at the New Avon United Methodist Church. They farmed in Vail Township two miles north of Wabasso until 1986 when they moved into Wabasso. She entered the Wood Dale Nursing Home in September 1998. She was a member of the New Avon United Methodist Church, served as youth director from 1959 until 1961 and was a member of the United Methodist Women.

Adela Wallow, 86, of 300 N. Broadway, New Ulm, died Monday,
June 18, 2001, at Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in New Ulm, with
burial at 2 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Green Isle.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Monday at the Firle Funeral Home in New Ulm, and one hour prior to services at the church.
She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and Ronald Mehlhop of New Ulm; two grandchildren and five great grandchildren; sister, Gertrude White, of New Ulm; her ex-husband, Vern Wallow of Winona; and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother and sister in infancy.
She was born April 14, 1915 on a farm near Hamburg, to August and Anna (Masemann) Bruesehoff. She attended rural parochial school and Central High School in Norwood Young America, graduating in 1935. She worked as a waitress for many years at Mudcura Sanitarium for Arthritic People. She also worked at Brown & Bigelow in the Twin Cities. She married Vern Wallow on Nov. 17, 1954 at Ida Grove, Iowa. They lived in New Ulm where she worked for J.C. Penney and Ben Franklin. She worked in the dining room and coffee shop at Sioux Valley Hospital for seven yers, retiring in 1977. She lived above Marv's Barber Shop in New Ulm for 20 years, moving to the Broadway Haus Apartments Oct. 1, 1989. She became a resident of Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm in August 2000. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in New Ulm.

Clarence Blumhoefer, 76, of Fairfax, died Wednesday, June 20, 2001, at the Sunwood Care Center, Redwood Falls.

He is survived by his daughters, Karen Lee and her husband, David of Willmar, Debra Ecker and her husband, David of Champlin, Rebecca Bender and her husband, Al of Faribault and Lynn Peterson and her husband, Todd of Hector; sons Byron and his wife, Lana of Prior Lake and Bruce and his wife, Loretta of Salem, Ala.; 12 grandchildren; sisters Rose Black of Fairfax and Marcella Gruber and her husband, Daniel of New Ulm; sister-in-law, Birdie Schroeder and her husband, Lorence of New Ulm, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred on Dec. 16, 2000; parents, Michael and Margaret; and brothers, Alfred, Leo and Arthur.
He was born Sept. 22, 1924 in Wellington Township, Renville County to Michael G. and Margaret (Hostelka) Blumhoefer. He attended St. Andrew's Catholic School for eight years and was a 1942 graduate of Fairfax High School. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Asia-Pacific area. He received a victory medal. Following his discharge, he returned to Fairfax.
He married Mildred Mertz on Aug. 10, 1949, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, New Ulm. They lived and farmed in Wellington Township, Renville County. They retired from farming in 1990, but continued living on their farm site. Due to illness, Clarence became a resident of the Sunwood Care Center in Redwood Falls on March 2, 2001. He was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Fairfax and belonged to the Catholic Aid Association. He also belonged to the Fairfax Legion Post 205 and the Fairfax VFW Post 8459 and held offices at the post and district level for many years.

Milton G. Grams, 92, of Fairfax, died Tuesday, June 19, 2001, at the Fairfax Community Home.
Mass of Christian burial was held Friday at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax, with burial in the church cemetery in Cairo Township, Renville County.
Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax handled the arrangements.
He is survived by brother, Arnold Grams and his wife, Marlis of Fairfax; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; parents, Gustaf and Louise; sister in youth, Viola Grams and sister, Mildred Rieke.
He was born May 20, 1909, in Ridgely Township, Nicollet County, to Gustaf and Louise (Zech) Grams. He attended country school.
He married Margaret L. Schneider on Sept. 22, 1936, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax. They lived in Home Township, Brown County. The couple moved to Cairo Township, Renville County, in 1942 and to Fairfax in 1968. The couple shared 53 years of marriage before Margaret passed away on March 19, 1990. Milton later lived in Lafayette, New Ulm and at the Country View Estates in Fairfax, before he entered the Fairfax Community Home on May 8, 2001.
He worked as a hunter, trapper, logger and lastly, as a farmer. He was a longtime member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax.

Lester "Les" Buckentin, 78, of Arlington, formerly of Glencoe, died Sunday, June 17, 2001, at the Arlington Good Samaritan Center.
Services were held Friday at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe.
Arrangements were handled by the Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe.
He is survived by his wife, Marlys Buckentin of Arlington; children, Ross Buckentin and special friend Barb Dixon of Murrieta, Calif., Doran Buckentin and special friend Diane Newstrom of Cross Lake, Lisa Buckentin of Hutchinson, Ward Buckentin of Boulder, Colo.; three grandchildren; a brother, Werner Buckentin and wife Lee, sisters, Harriet Griep, and Darlene and husband Roger Meyer, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Verlin and Helen Milbrand, Howard and Diane Dittmer, Roland and Dorothy Schwarzrock, Fred and Leona Miller, Eldora Miller, Sarah Buckentin, Marlen Griep.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Luella; son, Warren; a daughter in infancy; brother, Gerald Buckentin; sister, Delores Quinliven, and in-laws, Henry Droege, Leslie Meyer, Keith Quinliven, Lorraine Buckentin, Wilmar Miller, Edwin and Cora Heuer, Raymond and Myra Panning, and Marie Miller.
He was born March 11, 1923, in Hamburg, to Edward and Bertha (Bruns) Buckentin. He attended both country school and Emanuel Parochial.
He married Luella Miller on May 12, 1946, at St. John's Lutheran Parsonage in Plato.
On May 31, 1946, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Japan until his honorable discharge on May 25, 1947.
On May 28, 1953, Luella died in childbirth along with their infant daughter. Their son, Warren preceded Luella in death.
Lester worked for William Mueller & Son in Hamburg before beginning to farm on land he rented northwest of Hamburg. He purchased a farm near Glencoe in 1950. He married Marlys Milbrand at St. John's Lutheran Church, Helen Township, on May 29, 1955. The couple lived on the farm until retiring from farming in 1988. Lester last worked with Wilson Hardware in Glencoe before his illness. He was active with the Young America Mutual Insurance Company, holding positions of director, vice president, secretary, manager and assistant manager.
He was a past member of the Green Isle Lions Club, a member of the Shady Lane Sportsmen's Club, and the Glencoe VFW. He had held the position of council member and financial secretary at St. John's Lutheran Church of Helen Township. He and Marlys were later members of First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Glencoe.

Stella Prechel, 100, died Thursday, June 21, 2001 at St. John Lutheran Home.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Springfield, with burial in Springfield City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Monday at Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
She is survived by nephews, Arnold Hillman, Norbert and Gordon Prechel; nieces Lanore Prechel and Dorothy Schuelke; and a very dear friend and neighbor, Virginia Yetter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Albert in 1974; brother, Albert Hillmann in 1979; and sister-in-law, Irene in 1967.
She was born Dec. 16, 1900 on a farm southwest of Springfield in Burnstown Township. She attended country school and Springfield Public School. She married Albert R. Prechel on June 11, 1919, at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Springfield. They farmed for several years in North Star Township, moving into Springfield in 1927. She lived there until becoming a resident at St. John's Lutheran Home on March 1, 1999. She helped her husband in the carpentry business by doing the bookkeeping. She also worked as a nurse's aide at the Springfield Community Hospital for about 10 years, and for Edna Hanson's Floral Shop in Springfield for several years. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Mary Martha Circle and the Springfield Garden Club.

Pearl L. Hubert, 88, of Blue Earth, died Thursday, June 21, 2001, at St. Luke's Lutheran Care Center, Blue Earth.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, with burial at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Lakeside Cemetery, Fairmont.
Visitation will be 8:30-9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Luke's Lutheran Care Center and one hour prior to services at the church. Patton Funeral Home in Blue Earth is handling the arrangements.
She is survived by a son, Thomas and wife Bonnie Hubert of New Ulm; a daughter, Judy and husband Roger Thate of Liberty Hill, Texas; a brother, Alvin Jacobson of Guckeen; sisters, Myrl Bell of Blue Earth and Loretta Rosol of Fairmont; brothers, Perlin Jacobson of Lake Lillian and Donnie Jacobson of Helena, Mont.; a daughter-in-law, Margaret Jacobson of Blue Earth, 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1988, a son, Darrel Jacobson; brothers, Virgil, Ray and Earl Jacobson; a sister, Arvilla Mineer, and a grandson, Nicholas Hubert.
She was born Jan. 17, 1913, in Rake, Iowa, to Thomas R. and Sena (Larsen) Jacobsen. She was raised and educated in Jo Davis Township in Faribault County. She married Ralph G. Hubert on Dec. 9, 1933 in Fairmont. She has lived in Waterloo, Iowa, Richfield, Fairmont, Brownton, Toltec, Ariz., New Ulm and Blue Earth. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Royal Neighbors and the Trinity Lutheran Church, all in Blue Earth.

Viola L. Nelson, 83, of Springfield, died Friday, June 22, 2001, at St. John's Lutheran Home, Springfield.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Sundown Lutheran Church, Springfield, with burial Sundown Lutheran Cemetery, Springfield.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today and 7:3-9 a.m. Monday at Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield, and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Survivors include her husband Clifford Nelson of Springfield: a daughter, Carman Nelson of Fergus Falls; a son, Charles and his wife Sally Nelson of Little Falls; three grandchildren; a sister, and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Ann Kristier and Luella Dahlman, and brothers, George Zieske, Wade Zieske, and Woody Zieske,
Viola Lillian Nelson was born April 2, 1918 to Ben and Augasta (Lohman) Zieske in Cobden. She attended grade school at Cobden, graduating from Sleepy Eye High School. Viola took teachers training at Sleepy Eye and at Mankato State Teachers College. On June 18, 1943, Viola married Clifford Nelson in Cobden. Viola taught school for 29 years and lived on a farm in Sundown Township, before moving into Springfield in 1985. She was a member of Sundown Lutheran Church, past president of ELCA, past president of River Bend Conference, a member of MEA, and Retired Teachers Assn., the Springfield Library, Friends of Library Board, Literary Club, and was a Sunday School Superintendent for 17 years.

Mary Jane Toreen, 80, of Olivia, formerly of Hector, died Thursday, June 21, 2001, at the Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Swedlanda Lutheran Church, Palmyra Township, rural Hector, with burial in the Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today at the Hughes Funeral Home in Hector, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
Mary Jane is survived by her son Douglas (Carol) Toreen of Bird Island, and her daughter Bonnie (Don) Edwards of Hector; five grandchildren; a brother Deane Benton of Olivia, a sister Frances (Wallace) Alwin of New Ulm, and a sister-in-law Bea Benton of Milan, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Keith; her husband, Harold, and one brother.
Mary Jane Toreen was born May 25, 1921, in Stockton, Ill., to Sidney and Neva (Weigle) Benton. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis in 1940. She got her LPN degree from Union Hospital in New Ulm. On March 21, 1946, she married Harold Toreen at the United Methodist Church in New Ulm. They made their home of 53 years in rural Hector where they farmed. Mary Jane was active in many church and community organizations. They also enjoyed spending time at their lake home by Park Rapids.

Edith E. Amsden, 94, of Windom died on Saturday, June 23, 2001, at Sogge Memorial Good Samaritan Center in Windom.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Jeffers Baptist Church in Jeffers, with burial in Resthaven Memorial Garden in Windom.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sturm Funeral Home Chapel in Comfrey and will continue for one hour prior to the church service.
She is survived by daughters, Ardyce Miller of Mora, Arlene Carter of Comfrey, and Bonnie and Marvin Bottin of Windom; sons, Stanley and Loretta Amsden of Springfield and Merv Amsden of Comfrey; 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Grace Hagerman of Bellingham, Wash.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Hazel Wambier; brother, Dean Hagerman; sons-in-law, Donald Carter and John Miller; and great-grandson Ty Carter.
She was born on Dec. 22, 1906, to James G. and Maude E. (Loomis) Hagerman in Clarence, Iowa. As a young girl, she moved with her family to a farm in Delton Township and attended country school and Comfrey High School where she played on one of the first girls' basketball teams. She married Dennie Robert Amsden on Jan. 28, 1925, in Windom. The couple farmed east of Comfrey and later bought a farm 8 miles west of Comfrey where they lived and farmed for many years. She was a member of the Jeffers Baptist Church.
