Elsa 'Elsie' I. Freeman, 89, of Comfrey, died Thursday, July 5, 2001, at Good Samaritan Village, Mountain Lake.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at New Hope Lutheran Church, Comfrey, with burial in Union Cemetery, Atwater.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Monday at Sturm Funeral Home, Comfrey, and Monday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by a brother, Ivar and wife Leona Goltz of Hanska; a sister, Anne Kratz of Crystal; sisters-in-law, Bertha Goltz of Comfrey, Cecelia Goltz of Springfield, three godchildren and many nieces and nephows.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Allan in 1967; husband Marion in 1994; brothers, Oscar and William; sisters, Emma and Martha; two brothers and two sisters in infancy in Sweden.
She was born Aug. 21, 1911 in Lund, Sweden to John A. and Karin (Persson) Goltz. She came to the America with her family In 1912, settling in the St. James area. On Dec. 11, 1935, she married Marion Freeman at West Sveadahl Lutheran Church in rural St. James. They lived in St, James, where she painted and did housekeeping. They moved to rural Madelia and in 1942 moved to a farm near Atwater. Retiring in 1978, they moved to Comfrey, where she lived until becoming a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Mountain Lake in 1998. She was a former member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Atwater and currently a member of New Hope Lutheran Church, formerly Faith Lutheran Church, Comfrey. She was active in the Altar Guild, taught Sunday School for several years and active in the WELCA.

PFC Randall Lindsey, 21, of Darfur, died Saturday, June 30, 2001, in Manhattan, Kan.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Sturm Funeral Home, St. James, with burial in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Darfur. Military Honors will be performed by National Guard Armory Battery C, lst Bn.,125th Fld. Arty., St. James.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday and 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Sturm Funeral Home, St. James.
He is survived by his mother Cathy and husband Bob Sims of Dandridge, Tenn.; a brother Michael Sims of Darfur; grandparents Meril and Gladys Reed, Darfur; two uncles Jim and Diane Reed and Bob and Denise Reed of Darfur; cousins relatives, and friends.
He was born in St. James hospital July 12, 1979. He lived in Darfur and Windom until 1986 when he moved to Colorado and later to Oregon. He moved back to Darfur in 1997,
and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1999. He graduated Aug. 12, 1999 from Advanced Individual Training as a Combat Engineer at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. His basic training was at Fort Leonard Wood as was his Combat Engineer training. He left Aug. 29, 1999 for Korea where he was stationed one year with Company C, 169th Engineer Battalion, 1st Engineer Brigade. He was then transfered to Fort Riley, Kan. where he was stationed at the time of his death.

Leo H. Lowinske, 74, of Sleepy Eye, died Thursday, July 5, 2001, at Sleepy Eye Care Center.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Monday at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye with burial in Home Cemetery, Sleepy Eye.
Visitation is 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye.
He is survived by his brothers, Edward of Sleepy Eye and Leonard and wife Lylla of Sleepy Eye and three grand-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two nephews.
He was born on Dec. 25, 1926 in Sleepy Eye to Fred and Minnie (Seidl) Lowinske. He grew up and attended St. John's School in Sleepy Eye.
After his schooling he worked at Och's Brick in Springfield for a few years. He was self-employed as a milk hauler in the Sleepy Eye for 24 years. He later worked at Del Monte Foods in Sleepy Eye. He made his home at the Sleepy Eye Care Center since Feb. 28, 2001.

Harlan Weihe, 62, of Eden Prairie, formerly of Arlington, died Wednesday, July 4, 2001 at his home.
A memorial service is 2 p.m. Sunday at Zion Lutheran Church, Arlington.
Visitation is Sunday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by his daughters, Christine and Marisha, both of St. Paul, Stacey of Brooklyn, N.Y.; ex-wife Barbara Solberg of St. Paul; a sister, Janet Schwirtz of Arlington; brothers and sisters-in-law, Wallace and Linda of Atlanta, Ga. and Douglas and Vivian of Wells; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was born on Dec. 18, 1938 in Arlington to Adolph and Erna (Pinske) Weihe. He was a 1956 graduate of Arlington-Green Isle High School. He joined the U.S. Army March 13, 1957 and was discharged Oct. 14, 1960 at the rank of Private First Class. He married Barbara SoIberg in the spring of 1964. He worked at Control Data for 20 years in sales and management.
Fenske Funeral Rome of Arlington is handling arrangements.

Walter "Pete" J. Rolloff, 75, formerly of Milford Township, Brown County and Sunset Apartments in New Ulm, died Friday, July 6, 2001, at the Countryside Apartments in Sleepy Eye.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm, with burial in the St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery in Morgan at 2 p.m.
Visitation is 9-11 a.m. Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn of Sleepy Eye; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Frank Remer of Yakima, Wash.; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Elaine Petersen of Salt Lake City, Utah, Bill and Renee Petersen of New Ulm, and Steven Petersen and special friend, Shirley Moll of Little Canada; daughters-in-law, Myrna Petersen of Minneapolis, and Lauren Petersen of Andover; fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Lola and Elmer Duus of Springfield; and brother and sister-in-law, Arley and Phyllis Rolloff of New Ulm.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Vicki; step-sons Clarence and Thomas Petersen; grandson, David Rolloff; and brothers, Clarence and Alvin Rolloff.
He was born Dec. 19, 1925 in Milford Township, Brown County, to August and Martha (Froemming) Rolloff. He attended country school in Milford Township and graduated from New Ulm Public School. He married Marilyn Petersen on June 30, 1966, in New Ulm. After marriage he worked for twenty years as a boiler engineer and a maintenance engineer at the Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina. He was a member if the International Union of Operating Engineers.

Leone Hall, 81, of Springfield, died Saturday, July 7, 2001, at St. John Lutheran Home, Springfield.
Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Raphael's Catholic Church, Springfield, with burial in Springfield City Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday and 7:30-10 a.m. Tuesday at Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield. A parish prayer service is 7:30 p.m. Monday at Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield.
She is survived by her children, Susan and husband Dennis Flor of Springfield, Karen and husband Joseph Kral of Springfield, Michael and wife Linda of Andover, Jeffrey and wife Laurie of Comfrey, Linda and husband Gilbert Anderson of Springfield, Charlie of Vadnais Heights, and Julie and husband Pete Gray of Anoka; 19 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; sisters, Henrietta Johnson Kuhlman of Wahkon, Odelia Pihlstrom of Arlington, and Imelda Edmunds of Los Angeles, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lloyd; son David; son-in-law Mark Pankratz; and brother, Joe Helget.
She was born Aug. 8, 1919, in Mulligan Township, to Joseph E. and Catharine (Zwaschka) Helget Sr. She attended grade school in Comfrey and Good Counsel Academy in Mankato. She worked at Augustin's Variety Store in Comfrey, the J. C. Penney Store in Owatonna and as a teletype operator at Fort Snelling in Minneapolis. She married Lloyd Hall on May 25,1946, in Minneapolis. They lived in Minneapolis and Richfield, until moving to Countryside Apartments in Sleepy Eye in 1990. She became a resident at St. John's Lutheran Home in Springfield in 1991. She belonged to St. Raphael's Catholic Church and was a former member of St. Richard's Catholic Church in Richfield. She was involved with a craft group at St. Richard's Church, drove for the Richfield Senior Citizens and was a Lioness member at the Hiawatha Lions Club.

Dorothy Holm, 70, of rural Sleepy Eye died Saturday, July 7, 2001, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield.
Mass of Christian burial will be 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the Catholic Cemetery.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 3-8:30 p.m. Wednesday and on Thursday from 7:30-9 a.m. at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home. The Christian Mothers Society will pray the rosary at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Cathedral, and there will be a rosary by the St. Elizabeth Catholic Aid Society at 3 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
She is survived by her husband, Richard H. Holm, of rural Sleepy Eye; daughter, Connie Grams and her husband, Douglas A. Grams of New Ulm; sons, Richard P. Holm of Kent, Wash., Larry E. Holm and his wife, Vickie Holm of New Ulm, and Alan D. Holm and his wife, Janet Holm of rural Sleepy Eye; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and sister, Carol Schneider and her husband, Francis "Skip" Schneider of New Ulm.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Agnes Soukup, and by a brother, Richard Soukup in infancy.
She was born Dec. 14, 1930, in New Ulm to Victor and Agnes (Berg) Soukup. She attended the Holy Trinity Catholic Schools in New Ulm. On Oct. 7, 1950, she married Richard H. Holm at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity. They farmed her family farm. She became a resident of the St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield in April 2001. She did volunteer work at Divine Providence Home in Sleepy Eye and MRCI in New Ulm. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, Christian Mothers Society and St. Elizabeth Catholic Aid Society.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the donor's choice.

Samantha 'Sammy'Johnson, 7 1/2 months, of 902 N. Payne Street in New Ulm, died Saturday, July 7, 2001 at Children's Hospital in Minneapolis.
Mass of Christian burial is 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
She is survived by her parents, Scott and Denise (Braulick) Johnson of New Ulm; grandparents, Ron and Diane Braulick of New Ulm and Brad and Donna Johnson of Omaha, Neb.; maternal great-grandparents, Harold and Margaret Braulick of New Ulm and Agnes Forster of New Ulm; paternal great-grandmother, Helen Johnson of Springfield; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her maternal great-grandfather, Louis Forster; paternal great-grandparents, Ellsworth "Stub" Johnson, and George and Delores Besse.
She was born Nov. 22, 2000, in New Ulm to Scott and Denise (Braulick) Johnson. After birth she was airlifted to Minneapolis Children's Hospital where she spent her entire life because of heart failure. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm.

Donna M. Dudgeon, 59, of Lucan died Monday, July 9, 2001, at the Wabasso Health Care Center.
Services are Thursday, July 12, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Lucan with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Lucan. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
Redwood Valley Funeral Home in Redwood Falls is in charge of arrangements.

Helen Kopischke, 91 of Morgan, died Sunday, July 8, 2001, at Sleepy Eye Hospital.
Services are Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Morgan with burial in the Zion Eden Lutheran Cemetery in Eden Township.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Nelson-Martin Funeral Home in Morgan and will continue for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Florence and Elmer Engholm of Morgan; brother and sister-in-law, Leslie and Beverly Kopischke of Paducah, Ky., and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Emma Kopischke and stepmother Martha Kopischke; and brother and sister-in-law, Wilbert and Jean Kopischke.
She was born on Nov. 26, 1909, in Eden Township, Brown County, Minnesota to Herman and Emma (Netzke) Kopischke. She attended Country School Lone Tree District 34. She worked at Pietrus for 15 years. She lived in Morgan. She was a member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Alma Compart, 91, formerly of Nicollet, died Sunday, July 8, 2001, at the Grandview Good Samaritan Center in St. Peter.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet, with burial in the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Nicollet Township, Nicollet County.
Visitation is 4 - 8 p.m. Thursday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Nicollet and one hour prior to services at the church.
She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Yvonne Compart and Roger High of Bloomington; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Bonnie Compart of rural Nicollet; and five grandchildren and and sixteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ottomar Compart on Aug. 16, 1988; sisters, Hattie Krohn, Sophie Zauft, Alice Zins, and Olga Wills; and brother, Otto Enter.
She was born on Dec. 27, 1909, in New Sweden Township, Nicollet County, to Rudolph and
Sophia (Volk) Enter. She graduated from Nicollet High School in 1928. She worked at Langeths Bakery in St. Peter for five years. She married Ottomar Compart on Oct. 17, 1933, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet. After marriage they farmed in Granby Township, Nicollet County. In 1968 they retired and moved into Nicollet. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet and the Ladies Guild at church.

Emil W. Milbrett, 75, of 1222 N. Jefferson St. in New Ulm, died Monday, July 9, 2001, at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm.
Services are 11a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm, with burial in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm. Full military graveside
honors will be conducted by New Ulm veterans organizations.
Visitation is 4 - 8 p.m. Thursday and 7:30 - 8:30 a.m. Friday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and one hour prior services at church.
Emil is survived by daughters and son-in-law, DorReen Besemer of New Ulm and Debbra and
Bruce Aronson of Ham Lake; sons, Darryl of New Ulm and Darrin of Hopkins; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Darlene and Ervin Stueber of Mankato; brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred and June, and Robert and Jean, all of New Ulm; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Alice and Art Brede of Stewart, Lillian and Mike Fruwirth and Beverly Ubl, all of New Ulm, Sharon Karstens of Lafayette and LaRonda Dallmann of Nicollet.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law, Francis Ubl, Ronald Dallmann and Henry Karstens II; and a nephew.
He was born April 18, 1926, in New Ulm, to Walter and Alma (Zimmerman) Milbrett. He attended country school in Milford Township District14 and then St. Paul's Lutheran School in New Ulm. He served in the Army in Korea in 1951 - 1953. He married Virginia Havemeier on May 20, 1954, at the Courtland Evangelical Lutheran Church in Courtland. After marriage he played the concertina for the Six Fat Dutchman for twenty years. He then worked for New Ulm School DIstrcit 88 at Washington School until retiring in 1987. He was a member of the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. He was in failing health since the fall of 2000 when he was diagnosed with malignant lymphoma.

Donna DudgeonWABASSO -- Donna M. Dudgeon, 59, of Lucan, died Monday, July 9, 2001, at the Wabasso Health Care Center.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Lucan, with burial in Our Lady of Victory Catholic Cemetery, Lucan.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at the church, and one hour prior to services at the church.
She is survived by her children and spouses, Paula of Marshall, Jeff of Cantril, Iowa, Joel and Lisa of Wabasso, Russ and Angie of Sanborn, Cindy of Marshall, Connie of Lucan and Andy Lanoue of Tracy; six grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Mary Arnoldi of Lamberton, Steve and Kathy Arnoldi of West St. Paul, Gary and Judy Arnoldi of Springfield, and Dan and Marian Arnoldi of Northfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Patricia.
She was born Dec. 3,1941, in Springfield, to George and Ardell (WIlson) Amoldi. She graduated from Lamberbon Public School in 1959. She worked at the Farmers and Merchants Bank in Lamberton. She married Jack Dudgeon on Sept. 8, 1962, in Lamberton. They owned and operated Dudgeon's Locker in Lucan for 25 years. She was a Lucan Booster Club member and a member and past president of the Catholic Council of Women, a past CCW Region 2 vice president, taught religion classes and served on the Lucan City Council for 11 years. She helped prepare the Christmas programs at Our Lady of Victory School. She was employed at Chassis Liner Corporation in Lucan for almost 12 years.

Msgr. John Feiten, 77, a priest of the Diocese of Winona, died Monday, July 9, 2001, at St. Elizabeth's Nursing Home in Wabasha.
Mass of Christian burial is 11 a.m. Friday at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, Winona.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
He is survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert L. and Aline of Denver, Colo., Philip and Therese of Winona; and sisters and brother-in-law, Mary Arnoldy of New Ulm and Patricia and Michael McHugh of Storrs, Conn.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial gifts may be directed to Catholic Charities of the Winona Diocese or the Missionaries of Charity.
He was born April, 23, 1924, in Winona to Louis 0. and Hazel (Harris) Feiten. His bachelor's degree was from St. Mary's College in Winona where he studied from September 1942 to February 1944. He studied theology at the Theological College of Catholic University, Washington, D.C., and at the same time earned a Master of Arts in Sociology from Catholic University. He was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Winona on June 6, 1948 at St. Thomas Pro Cathedral in Winona. He served Catholic Charities for 23 years and served 29 years in parochial ministry. He was closely associated with the work of Mother Teresa of Calcutta and the Missionaries of Charity. He was the national treasurer of the Co-Workers of Mother Teresa. Pope Pius XII honored him with the title Papal Chamberlain on Feb. 29, 1956, and Pope John XXIII honored him as Domestic Prelate on Sept. 27, 1961.
