Russel Plaetz, 31, of Willis, Texas, died Saturday, July 7, 2001, in an automobile accident near Conrose, Texas.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Lakes Catholic Church, Spicer, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Johnson Funeral Home, New London, with a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m., and one hour prior to services at the church Thursday.
He is survived by his parents, Grace and Ed Plaetz of New London; wife, Kimberly of Willis, Texas; step children Daniel, Audrey and April Nicole, all of Texas; sisters, LuAnn (Christopher) Hoffmann of Hutchinson and Krissy of New London; and two nieces.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, two uncles and an aunt.
He was born April 9, 1970, in Austin to Edmund and Grace (Neudecker) Plaetz. He grew up in Redwood Falls where he attended Redwood Falls - Morton High School graduating in the class of 1988. He attended DeVry Institute in Chicago, Ill. During high school he enlisted in the Army Reserves, and was called into active service during the Persian Gulf War. He was placed back on inactive duty in May 1991. He moved to the New London area where he bought Kees Kamping Kove on Norway Lake. He owned and operated the business for 5 years until 1996. He married Kimberly Waldner in Willmar on April l2, 1996. They lived in New London. In October 1999 he moved to Texas where he worked for Maverick Tube as an electrician. He was serving in the Army Reserves and was a former member of the Boy Scouts of America where he was an Eagle Scout and former Chief of the Order of the Arrow.

Claus Schwartz, 89, of Redwood Falls, formerly of Vesta, died Monday, July 9, 2001, in the Johnson Park Place in Redwood Falls.
Services are 10 a.m. Thursday, July 19, at the Sunset Funeral Home in Echo, with burial in the Vesta City Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, and one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife Helma, daughter and son-in-law, Marie and Marvin Meier of New Ulm; three grandchildren and a great grandson; and sister Anna Marie Rebers of Walker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter in infancy, two brothers in infancy, a sister in infancy and two sisters, Margaret Todd and Louise Cornell.
He was born Aug. 26, 1911, in Iowa, to Christ and Maria (Reimer) Schwartz. He moved with his family to a farm near Vesta in 1913 where he grew up and attended country school. He married Helma Rebers on April 1, 1945, at the English Lutheran Parsonage in Cottonwood. They settled on the family farm near Vesta. He retired in the 1980's. He was a member of the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Vesta.

Vernard Helget, 76, died Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at Methodist Hospital, Rochester.
Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m.Thursday and 7:30-9:30 a.m. Friday at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye. A Christian Mothers Rosary is at 4 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Delores of Sleepy Eye; children, Ronald and wife Gloria of Sleepy Eye, Mary Ann and husband Richard Krebs of Sleepy Eye, Linda and husband Scott Peterson of Sleepy Eye, Larry of Sleepy Eye, Lori and husband Thomas Deibele of Sleepy Eye, and Kathy and husband Craig Larson of Hanska; 14 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brother Edwin of Sleepy Eye; sisters, Adella and husband Raymond Tauer of Hanska and Lucille and husband Robert Brand of New Ulm; sister-in-law Donna Helget of Sleepy Eye, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law Elvira and Stanley Wiltscheck; brother Marvin Helget and sister-in-law Alice Helget.
He was born March 20, 1925, in Stark Township, Brown County, to Louie and Mary (Haala) Helget. He grew up and attended country school in Stark Township and later St. Mary's School in Sleepy Eye. He married Delores Schmid on Aug. 8, 1945, in New Ulm. They lived and farmed in Home Township for many years, later retiring and moving to Sleepy Eye. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Sleepy Eye Eagles and a card club.

Albert R. Johnson, 71, of rural Sleepy, Eye died Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at Sleepy Eye Municipal Hospital.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye, with burial in Home Cemetery in Sleepy Eye.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m.today and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Saturday at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye, and one hour prior to services at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Mae of Sleepy Eye; children, Sherri Johnson of Sheboygan, Wis., Linda and Patrick Stimpert of Zumbrota, Alan Johnson of Sleepy Eye, Ronnie and Tara Johnson of Albert Lea, Gary Johnson of Sleepy Eye, Ricky Johnson of Sleepy Eye, and Becky Johnson of Sleepy Eye; brother and sister-in-law, Russell and Clarice Johnson of Sanborn; sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Norbert Irlbeck of Browerville; brother-in-law, Roman Pankratz of Springfield; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Randy; sister, Adeline Pankratz and infant brother Darold.
He was born on June 26, 1930, in Prairieville Township, Brown County, to Evald and Hazel (Borchardt) Johnson. After he completed his schooling, he farmed with his father before entering the U.S. Army. He served from July 1953 to May 1955 in Germany. He married Alice Mae Groff on May 18, 1963, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye. They farmed in Ortonville and Clinton, and he later worked at the GTA Cargill Elevator and the Ebenhoh Body Shop. He later owned and operated a dairy farm in Prairieville Township for many years.

Gregory G. Morris, 41, of Hutchinson, died Thursday, July 12, 2001, at the Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Washburn McReavy Southeast Chapel in Minneapolis, with a private burial.
Visitation is one hour prior to services at the chapel.
He is survived by his wife, Robin; daughters, Angela and Elizabeth; parents, Larry and Nancy; sister, Kelly; brother, Jeff; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bill and Pat Bryan; stepdaughter Carol Eubanks; grandmother, Esther Mammenga, and uncle Don Mammenga.
He was born on Feb. 9, 1960, in New Ulm. He graduated from Mankato State University and St. Mary's University. He taught tech education at Watertown Mayer and Hutchinson. He was retired from the U. S. Marine Corps.

Helmut G. Eisen, 78, of Nevis, died Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at Innovis Hospital in Fargo, N.D.
Services are 2:30 p.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Akeley, with burial at Resthaven Cemetery in Nevis.
Visitation is one hour prior to services at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce, of Nevis; sons and daughters-in-law, Gene and Ellen of Flower Mound, Texas, Reiner and Betsy of Apple Valley, Scott and Barb of Louisville, Texas, Kerry and Anne of Corinth, Texas, Willy and Sharon of Louisville, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Hildy Pitcher and Joe of Florence, Ky.; brother and sister-in-law, Kurt and Ella Eisen of New Ulm; and 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna; parents; a granddaughter and a brother.
He was born March 2,1923, in Czechoslovakia, to Emil and Barbara (Riess) Eisen. He grew up and attended school in Czechoslovakia. After high school he attended two years of trade school where he studied German sausage making. In 1952 he moved to Sleepy Eye and later to Mankato where he worked at Dunlap meats. In 1964 he moved to Waldorf, where he owned and operated the Eisen Sausage Company. He married Donna Stansbury. She died in 1998. He married Joyce Steinle on June 18, 1999, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Akeley. He trained police dogs and was active at the Canine Training Facility in St. Cloud.

Marvin Deinhart, 68, of St. James, died Friday, July 13, 2001, at Immanuel-St. Joseph Hospital, Mankato.
Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. James Catholic Church, St. James, with burial in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-10 a.m. Monday at Sturm Funeral Home, St. James.
He is survived by his former wife Phyllis; daughters, Linda and husband Dennis Madison of St. James, Barbara and fiance John Finn Of Albert Lea; sons, Greg of Phoenix, Ariz., Dennis and fiance Gina Fast of St. James, David and wife Jackie of Lakeville, John and wife Gina of Minneapolis; nine grandchildren; sister, Rose and husband Don Stark of Fargo, N.D.; and a niece and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and granddaughter, Anna Deinhart,
He was born on April 22, 1933, in Guckeen, to Albert and Bernice (Hinchen) Deinhart. He married Phyllis Larson on June 14, 1952. He was a farmer and agricultural salesman. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea in 1954-1956.

Mayme R. Beckman, 92, of Paynesville, died Thursday, July 12, 2001, at the Koronis Manor in Paynesville.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Sturm Funeral Home in St. James, with burial in the West Sveadahl Lutheran Cemetery in St. James.
Visitation is 3-7 p.m. Sunday and 7:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
She is survived by daughter, Joyce Sokolofsky and husband Donald of Villard; sons, Richard Beckman and wife Judy of LeSueur, William Beckman and wife Gloria of Greely, Colo., and Roger Beckman of Sunwood Care Center, Redwood Falls; 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; sisters, Bessie Mikkelson and Mabel Finstrom, both of Lake Crystal; and sister-in-law, Florence Chapman of Coon Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Jan. 21, 1989; sisters, Elsie Peterson, Grace Austin and Emma Ask; and brothers, Clarence, Raymond and Carl Hoeft.
She was born Dec. 4, 1908, in Randolph, Ill., to Charles and Rosa (Knuth) Hoeft. She received her education in Madelia. She married Ellsworth Clement Beckman on May 28, 1927, in Cokato. They lived in the Sveadahl area. She worked as a nurse's aide at the Catholic Hospital and Pleasant View Nursing Home in St. James. She moved to Koronis Manor Nursing Home in Paynesville on July 12, 2000.

Delbert Sylvester, 58, of Gaylord, died Thursday, July 12, 2001, at Glencoe Regional Health Services.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church-Mountville, rural Gaylord, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Fenske Funeral Home, Gaylord, and one hour prior to services at the church.
He is survived by his mother, Olga of Glencoe; brother and sister-in-law, Orlin and Donna of Gaylord; a nephew; and aunts and uncles.
He is preceded in death by his father, Raymond, on March 30, 1996.
He was born on Nov. 20, 1942, in Gaylord, to Raymond and Olga (Laabs) Sylvester. He attended eight years of rural country parochial school. He graduated from Gaylord High School in 1960. He lived on the home farm in Dryden Township. He was Dryden Township Supervisor, held several church positions including elder, trustee and cemetery committee member, maintained Dryden Township roads and drove truck for many years.

Rachel Schieffert, 88, of Morgan, died Thursday, July 12, 2001, at Sleepy Eye Municipal Hospital.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sleepy Eye, with burial in Home Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Monday at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye and one hour prior to services at the church.
She is survived by her sons, Gene and wife Lois of Sleepy Eye, Myron "Mike" and wife Janice of Bloomington; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a special niece, Orlene Korman of Sleepy Eye, and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Joseph in 1979; sisters, Alma Vollmer, Esther Grundmeyer, Minnie Domke and Adelia Schewe; and brothers, Albert, Art, Alfred and Herman Meyer.
She was born April 18, 1913, in Sleepy Eye, to Herman and Minnie (Gust) Meyer. She grew up and attended St. John's Lutheran School in Sleepy Eye. She married Joseph Schieffert on Oct. 2, 1930, in New Ulm. They lived in Sleepy Eye. She moved to Gil-Mor Manor in Morgan in January 2000. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye and the Ladies Aid. She also was a past member of the VFW and Legion Auxiliary.

Raymond Stresemann, 83, of Hutchinson, died Thursday, July 12, 2001, at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday, at Faith Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, with burial in St. Matthew's Lutheran Cemetery in Perm Township, McLeod County.
He is survived by son, Norman and his wife JoAnne of Sterling, Ill., daughter, Audrey Horrmann and husband David of Hutchinson; five grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; sister, Lucille Berger of Winthrop; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mabel and George Gehrke of Brownton, Alvin and Bernetta Alsleben of Brownton, Willard and Elaine Alsleben of Glencoe, Janet Alsleben of Brownton, and Joan Alsleben of Hutchinson; and nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Edna; brothers Elmer and Alvin; sisters, Edna Rickhiem and Della Klitzke; aand brothers-in-law, Alvin Rickhiem, Marvin Klitzke, Alloyus Berger, Marvin Alsleben, and Willmer Alsleben.
He was born on July 7, 1918, in Transit Township, to Frank and Anna (Dascher) Stresemann. He grew up and attended school in the rural Winthrop area. He married Edna Alsleben on Sept. 11, 1938, in New Auburn. They lived on a farm in Round Grove Township until they moved into the city of Brownton in 1965. They moved to Hutchinson in 1994. Ray held employment in farming, trucking, fuel delivery for Brownton Oil and carpentry work. His wife died in May 1998. He was an active member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Penn Township, serving as deacon, treasurer, grounds keeper, and doing woodworking and cabinetwork. He did volunteer work for Meals on Wheels, the hospital, and transportation programs.

Kenneth 'Kenny' Nolting, 68, of Missanabie, Ontario, Canada, and formerly of the Wabasso area, died July 10, 2001.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Nelson-Martin Funeral Home in Morgan, and one hour before services Wednesday at the church.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bethany Lutheran Church, County Road 3, south of Gilfillan, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by is wife, Sonja; daughters, Debra (Dale) of Grand Junction, Colo., Charlene (Jack) of Sebeka, Pamela (Leo) of Sioux Falls, S.D.; son, Brian (Holly) of Savage; stepsons, Kevin and Troy of Burlington, Ky.; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Richard (Shirley) of Morgan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Helen and a brother, Chucky.
He was born Aug. 6, 1932, in Wabasso to Glen and Helen (Knudsen) Nolting of Morgan. He owned and operated Camp Missanabie in northern Ontario.
He lived in northern Kentucky during the off season.

Evelyn Eckstein, 80, of Sleepy Eye, died July 14, 2001, at Sleepy Eye Hospital.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and continues 7:30-10 a.m. Tuesday at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
She is survived by son, Charles and his wife Carol Eckstein of Sleepy Eye; daughter, Judy and her husband Vernon Schumacher of Sleepy Eye; nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; sisters, Angeline Mishler of Inver Grove Heights, Gladys Zarn of Sleepy Eye, Bernice Marsh of Sleepy Eye, Catherine and husband Donald Meyer of Sleepy Eye, Eleanor and husband Lloyd Strong of Sleepy Eye; brothers, Leonard of Parkers Prairie, Jerome and wife Jane of Mankato, Albert and wife Pauline of Sleepy Eye, and Richard of Sleepy Eye.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert in 1988; brothers, Donald and Bernard; and sister, Dolores Eckstein.
She was born on May 31, 1921, in Brown County, to William and Frances (Riebel) Zuhlsdorf. She attended country school. She married Albert Eckstein on Nov. 7, 1939, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. They lived in Sleepy Eye. She worked at Peitrus Foods and Del Monte. She later worked for B.F. Goodrich in New Ulm for 17 years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Mary's Guild and the VFW Auxiliary.

Alice Janni, 84, of New Ulm, died Sunday, July 15, 2001 at the Oak Hills Living Center.
Mass of Christian burial is 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. Christian Mothers Society will pray the rosary at 4 p.m. today at the Cathedral. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Harvey and Jean Janni, Alan O. Janni, and Gary C. Janni, all of New Ulm; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Edwin B. Janni on Feb. 3, 1987.
She was born Dec. 12, 1916, in Lake Hanska Township, Brown County to Otto and Cecelia (Waibel) Tauer. She married Edwin B. Janni on Oct. 26, 1937, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. They farmed in Sigel Township, Brown County until 1970 when they moved to New Ulm. She worked at the Highland Manor Nursing Home in New Ulm as a nurses aide until 1978. In August of 1994 she became a resident of the Highland Manor Nursing Home which is now Oak Hills Living Center. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity and Christian Mothers Society.

Frances Stockton, 90, of 409 East Main Street in Sleepy Eye, died Thursday, July 12, 2001 at Richfield Health Center in Richfield.
Mass of Christian burial is 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye with burial in the church cemetery.
There will be no visitation or reviewal. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by a son, Jerome "Jerry" Stockton, Jr. of Clark, N.J.
She was preceded in death by her parents husband, Jerome Stockton, Sr.; and by her siblings.
She was born Jan. 11, 1911, and lived most of her life in Sleepy Eye until she became a resident of the Health Care Center. She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye.
