Irene Biesanz, 84, of Winona, died Sunday, July 15, 2001, at Community Memorial Hospital.
Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, Winona.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home, Winona with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
She is survived by her 11 children and their spouses, Charles (Becky) of Winona, Anne (Ted) Roberton of Rushford, Teresa (William) Schumaker of Winona, Philip of Richfield, David (C.J.) of Sacramento, Calif., Barbara (Mark) of Pezanc of Winona, Francis (Rebecca) of Sleepy Eye, Don (Lynn) of Winona, Robert (deceased) and Julie (Geoff) Gardner of Winona; 31 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Philip and son Robert Paul.
She was born April 6, 1917, in Mosinee, Wis., to Michael and Anna (Kronenweiller) O'Connor. She graduated from the College of St. Teresa in 1938. She worked as a librarian in Great Falls, Mont., before teaching at Ocono Falls, Wis. High School. She married Charles W. Biesanz Sr. on Dec. 30, 1941. She was president of the Community Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, president of the Alumnae Association of the College of Saint Teresa and served on the boards of Viterbo College and the College of Saint Teresa.

Marlo Arnsdorf, 81, of Sanborn, formerly of Comfrey, died Sunday, July 15, 2001, at his home.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Sanborn United Methodist Church with burial in Lamberton Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Thursday at Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield, and at the church Thursday, one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn of Sanborn, daughters, Patricia and husband Kenneth Warner of Siloam Springs, Ark., Janet and Bruce Wing of Belgrade; sons, Kenneth and Ellen of Jeffers and Neddy and Diane of Sanborn; Bruce (Butch) and Nancy of Maricopa, Ariz.; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several stepgrand children and great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Frank and Jeanette Gremmert of Redwood Falls, Elmer Johnson of Lamberton; sisters-in-law Elsie Kleist of Mankato, and Lydia Addison of Coon Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, LaNette Johnson.
He was born Nov. 22, 1919, in Lamberton, to Fred E. and Lucy Ruth (Moody) Arnsdorf. He graduated from Lamberton High School in 1938. On Sept. 16,1938, he married Evelyn Grommert at Germantown. They worked on a farm near Walnut Grove, at the Walnut Grove Creamery, and the Land O' Lakes Plant in Lamberton, before beginning farming in Charlestown Township. He also worked for the Lamberton Drayline, and drove bus for Lamberton Public School. He also drove trucks for Vernon Theis and Lloyd Waterman before moving to Comfrey. In 1962, Marlo and Evelyn purchased Juhnke Trucking of Comfrey. He managed the Comfrey Shipping Association until it disbanded. During his years in Comfrey, he expanded his trucking operation to Sanborn, operating as Arnsdorf Trucking. Following the Comfrey tornado In 1998, they moved to Sanborn where he continued to work with Arnsdorf Trucking until poor health forced him to quit driving. He was a former member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Germantown Township, the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Comfrey, until he moved to Sanborn and joined the United Methodist Church. He was a charter member of the Comfrey Lions Club.

Frank H. Luepke, 87, of Arlington, died Monday, July 16, 2001, at Golden Hearts Assisted Living Center in Arlington.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in Arlington with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Fenske Funeral Home in Arlington; and continues one hour before the service Wednesday at the church.
He is survived by daughters, Phyllis Pautsch of Arlington, and Janice Bergeron of Houston, Texas; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Barbara Luepke of Arlington, Robert and Mary Luepke of Arlington; sister and brother-in-law, Eleanora and Bernard Ziegler of Winthrop; brothers and sisters-in-law, Alfred, Raymond and Jean, and Louis Luepke, all of Arlington; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary in 1994; son, Daniel; and brothers, Ernie, Walter, and Clarence Luepke.
He was born on Sept. 18, 1913, in Arlington Township to Frank Sr. and Rosa (Henke) Luepke. He attended country school. He married Mary F. Novosad on Sept. 29, 1938, at St. Paul's Lutheran Parsonage. They farmed south or Arlington for 35 years. In 1961 he begin working for the Big Stone Canning Company as a mechanic. He retired In 1979. He became a resident at the Golden Hearts Assisted Living Center in Arlington in June 2000.

Edward F. Kral, 81, of Lake Villa Maria Apartments in Sleepy Eye, died Monday, July 16, 2001 at his home.
Mass of Christian burial is 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and continues one hour before the mass Thursday at the church. St. Mary's Catholic Aid Council and the Knights of Columbus will pray a combined rosary at 6 p.m., and there will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Angeline Kral of Sleep Eye; daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and Mel Wendt of Elysian, Kathy and John Hillesheim of New Ulm, and Margie and Randy Kirchhoff of Glencoe; sons and daughters-in-law, Francis and Gwen Kral of New Ulm, Thomas and Pennie Kral and Ken and Jody Kral, all of Sleepy Eye; 12 grandchildren; sister, Elzear Lillian Kral of Winona; brothers and sisters-in-law, Victor and Rosemary Kral of New Ulm and Robert and Ebba Kral of Edina; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Kral of Osakis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Norbert Kral in childhood, Alfred Kral and Elmer Kral; sisters, Eleanor Hoffmann, Marcella Hoffmann, Lucy and Marie Kral in infancy, Elizabeth Berg and Florence Kral.
He was born April 16, 1920, in Sigel Township, Brown County, to Edward and Anna (Wiltscheck) Kral. He attended District 10 school. He worked in custom combining. He married Angeline Hoffmann on April 9, 1951, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. They farmed in Sigel Township. They moved to Lake Villa Maria Apartments in Sleepy Eye in May 2001. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Catholic Aid Council and Knights of Columbus. He was a past board member of the Sigel Baseball Association.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the donor's choice.

Ruth Kretsch, 90, U. S. Army Nurse Corps retiree, died Sunday, July 15, 2001 at the Life Care Center in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Lucie Catholic Church with burial at Hillcrest Memorial gardens.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Byrd Funeral Home, Port St. Lucie.
She is survived by her nephews John Kretsch of New Ulm, James Kretsch of Bero Beach, Fla., Christopher Winn of Lake Worth, Fla.; nieces Joan Aune of Casper, Wyo., Janet Franta of Shakopee, Barbara Goldsmith of Lusby, Md.; sister-in-law Dolores Kretsch of New Ulm; 19 grandnephews and nieces and 24 great-grand nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas J. Kretsch; mother, Bertha Korherr Kretsch; sister, Gretchen Winn; brother, John Kretsch and grandnephew Gerald Parker.
She was born Dec. 30, 1910, in Des Moines, Iowa. She grew up in New Ulm and moved to Port. St. Lucie following her retirement from the U.S. Army Nurse Corps.
She worked in general nursing in New Ulm and Palo Alto, Calif., before entering the Army in 1942. She served on the hospital ship USS Comfort in the South Pacific until the end of World War II. She returned to active duty in 1952 in Korea and until 1969 was was assigned to duty in Japan, Colorado, Pennsylvania, Italy, Germany, Georgia and Fort Mammoth, N.J. She was an active member of St. Lucie Catholic Church.
Memorials are preferred to St. Lucie Catholic Church Youth Group, 425 SW Irving St., Port St. Lucie, FL 34983.

Donald Stimpert, 85, of Sleepy Eye, died Monday, July 16, 2001, at the Sleepy Eye Care Center in Sleepy Eye.
Services are 10:00 a.m. Friday at Faith United Methodist Church in Sleepy Eye, with burial in the Home Cemetery in Sleepy Eye. Full military honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the Sleepy Eye Honor Guard.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Thursday at Faith United Methodist Church in Sleepy Eye and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
Minnesota Valley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie A. Stimpert of Sleepy Eye; daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Donald J. Billmeier of Sleepy Eye; son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Joan Stimpert of Sleepy Eye; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren; and his sister and brother-in-law, Gladys and Arno Johnson of Sleepy Eye.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Douglas on March 11, 1955; and brothers, Chester, Raymond, Arnold and Charles.
He was born July 5, 1916, in Benson, Ill., to Charles and Sena (Waltzen) Stimpert. He married Marjorie A. Sandmann on Sept. 8, 1935 in Springfield. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. In 1952 they started the Orchid Inn and Motor Lodge in Sleepy Eye and operated it until 1996. He was a former member of the Lions Club, Toastmasters and the Sleepy Eye Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Sleepy Eye.

Elvera Paulson, 83, of New Ulm, died Monday, July 16, 2001, at the Gardenview Nursing Home in Le Sueur.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Our Savior's Lutheran Church in New Ulm, with burial in the New Ulm City Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Thursday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and one hour prior to services at the church.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Myra and Neil Honl of Mankato; son and daughter-in-law, Kendall and Meg Paulson of rural Le Sueur; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Clifford and Rachel Wellmann of New Ulm; and sisters-in-law, Dorothy Fredrickson of Luther Memorial Home in Madelia, and Sophia Wellmann of New Ulm.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gaylord on Dec. 28, 1966; two sisters; and five brothers.
She was born Oct. 22, 1917, in Sigel Township, Brown County, to John and Annie (James) Wellmann. She married Gaylord Paulson on Nov. 22, 1947, at Lake Hanska Lutheran Church in rural Hanska. They lived in rural Nicollet and later moved to St.James. She worked as a waitress and in the grocery store. They moved to New Ulm in 1960, where she worked as a waitress for Eibners Restaurant until it closed. Then she worked in the bakery department at the Swanson's Grocery Store, Hy-Vee and Randall's.
She became a resident of the Gardenview Nursing Home in Le Sueur in September 1996. She was a member of the Our Savior's Lutheran Church in New Ulm and the Young at Heart Group at the church.

Helen J. Sawatzky, 94, of Darfur, died Sunday, July 15, 2001 at Good Samaritan Village in Mountain Lake.
Services are Friday, July 20, 2001 at 1 p.m. at the Alliance Missionary Church in Mountain Lake, with private burial in Mountain Lake Cemetery.
There is no public visitation.
She is survived by a son, Harvey Sawatzky and his wife Marilyn of Darfur; a daughter, Donna Wolters and her husband Roderick of Mesa, Ariz..; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and sisters, Frieda Krzmarzick of Dallas, Ore. and Edna Reimer of Bellingham, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister, Anna Garrett.
She was born Nov. 28, 1906, in Mountain Lake, to Jacob P. and Helena (Quiring) Pankratz. She attended the Mountain Lake German School for five years. She married Jacob W. Sawatzky on Dec. 2, 1926, in Mountain Lake. She was the bookkeeper for the family trucking and livestock business in Darfur for 40 years. When her husband died in 1985 she continued living in her home until May 28, 2001, when she entered the Good Samaritan Village in Mountain Lake. She was an active member of Alliance Missionary Church and was a Sunday school teacher for a high school group for many years.

Ann E. Gutknecht, 64, of Winthrop, died on Tuesday, July 17, 2001, at Sibley Medical Center in Arlington.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bismarck Township, Sibley County, with burial in the church cemetary.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday, 7:30-8:30 a.m. Friday and one hour prior to the funeral at the Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop.
She is survived by her husband, Otto Gutknecht of Winthrop; sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Cyndi of South Carolina, Bruce and Michelle Gutknecht of Roseville, and Gary and Becky Gutknecht of Karlstad; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Lowell Kavan of Lafayette, and Becky and Cory Danielson of Arlington; 15 grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Mary Boehlke of Richfield; sister, Audrey Stenzel of Winthrop; brothers-in-law and spouses, Earl Nelson of Breckenridge, Larry and Sharon Gutknecht of Glencoe; sisters-in-law and spouses, Lorinda Boehlke of Montevideo, Clara and Elmer Becker of Winthrop, and Helen and Ellsworth Becker of Glencoe; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Esther Boehlke; grandchildren, Faith and Grace Gutknecht and Christopher Gutknecht; brother Leonard Steven Boehlke; sister Muriel Nelson; and brother-in-law Gordon Stenzel.
She was born Nov. 5, 1936, at Union Hospital in New Ulm, to Leonard and Esther (Barnes) Boehlke. She graduated from Winthrop High School in 1954 and continued her education at a business college in Minneapolis. She married Otto Gutknecht on June 1, 1956, in Winthrop. They farmed in Transit Township. She also helped her father with income tax preparation for 45 years. She was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Bismarck Township. She was a member of the Ladies Aid (WELCA), Sunday school teacher, vacation Bible school teacher, and was an officer for the Minnesota Valley conference. She was also a member of the Winthrop Chamber of Commerce.

Arlene H. Jorve, 74, of Sleepy Eye, formerly of Halstad, died Wednesday, July 18, 2001, at Gil-Mor Manor in Morgan.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye, with burial in Halstad Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to services at the church. A memorial service is 11 a.m. Tuesday at Halstad Lutheran Church in Halstad, with visitation at 10 a.m.
Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.

Dustin Jenkins, 18, of Delft, died July 18, 2001, in Carson Township, Cottonwood County, as a result of injuries sustaineed in an automobile accident.
Services are 3 p.m. Saturday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lamberton with burial in Lamberton Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Sturm Funeral Home in Lamberton and one hour prior to the church service.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Tammy and Brian Smith of Delft; his father, Lee Jenkins; brothers, Dan Schrupp of Jeffers and Jordan Larson of Bingham Lake; sister, Danatta Jenkins of Lamberton; randmother June (Pfarr) Schrupp of Lamberton; grandfathers, Donald Schrupp of Wilmar and Ernest Jenkins of Springfield; step-grandparents, Stan and Carol Smith of Marshall; one nephew; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Patricia Jenkins; great-grandparents, Daniel and Eledora Pfarr; great-grandmother, Lilian Fredericksen and a stepgreat-grandfather, Ernest Smith.
He was born June 15, 1983, to Tamara (Schrupp) and Lee Jenkins in Springfield. He attended grade school in Lamberton and Mountain Lake Junior High School in Windom and was attending ALC School in Jackson.

Dorothy Lewis, 68, of rural Madelia, died Wednesday, July 18, 2001, at her home.
Services are 10:30a.m. Saturday at Salem Lutheran Church in Madelia with burial in Trinity Lutheran Cemetary.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today at Pilgrim Funeral Home in Madelia and continues one hour prior to the service at the church.
She is survived by her sons, Dale and wife Deb of Madelia, Dean of Lewisville, Gordon and wife Lois of Coon Rapids; daughter, Bonnie Bean and husband Lee of Butterfield; 10 grandchildren; sisters, Lena Nelson of Winona, Reca Becker and husband Oscar of Truman and Helen Kopiscke of Madison Lake; brother, John Deling and wife Judy of Waseca.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sons, Larry and Allen; sister, Freda; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild.
She was born on April 22, 1933, in Truman to Fred and Johanna (Oltsmams) Deling. She grew up in Garden City, Vernon Center and Good Thunder. She married Rolla Lewis at St. John's Lutheran Church in Good Thunder. They farmed in rural Garden City, Vernon Center and Madelia. She also worked for Tony Downs Foods in Madelia. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Madelia and worked with the Cub Scout Program.

Edna Schoberg, 85, of Gaylord, died Wednesday, July 18, 2001, at Gaylord Lakeview Home.
Services are 1:30 a.m. Saturday at Bernadotte Lutheran Church in rural Lafayette with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Saturday; at Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord and continues one hour at the church before services. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Barbara Schoberg of Canby; grandson, Scott and wife Angie Schoberg of Des Moines; granddaughter, Tracie and husband Mike Sayre of Canby as well as five other grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1988; her daughter, Shirley Mae Schoberg in 1981; grandson, Devan Sayre; brothers, Arthur A. Otto and Fred Otto; infant sister and sister Elizabeth Ruchs.
She was born Aug. 12, 1915, in rural Belle Plaine to August E. and Mayme (Langele) Otto.
She married Clemens Schoberg, on March 20, 1935, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine.
She grew up on a farm near Belle Plaine and attended school in Keystone Township, rural Belle Plaine. She and her husband farmed in Alfsborg Township, rural Winthrop. They retired in 1967. She entered the Gaylord Lakeview Home in 1993. She was a member of Bernadotte Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid in rural Lafayette. She belonged to Christian Women's Club, taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was a member of the Rural Welfare Club, Birthday Club and Garden Club. She worked at Hebeisen Grocery, Super Valu and Food and Fuel,

Alice Plamann, 67, of Forest City Township, Meeker County, died Tuesday, July 17, 2001, at her home.
Services are 2:30 p.m. today at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield.
Visitation is one hour before the service today at the funeral home.
She is survived by her husband, William; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Clifford Boeson of Cokato, Susan and Marvin Berscheid of Kimball, Lori and Bill Phillips of Litchfield and Carrie and Roy Johnson of Litchfield; sons and daughters-in-law Gary and Darhla Plamann of Annandale, Ronald and Linda Plamann of Kimball, and Bill and Kathy Plamann of Dassel; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Pearl Wellmann of Long Prairie and Jean and husband John Pratt of Bemidji; a brother, Leo Kraus of New Ulm, and many nieces and nephews.
She was born Oct. 24, 1934, in New Ulm to Louis and Ella Kraus. She married William Plamann on April 15, 1953, in New Ulm. They lived in New Ulm until 1971 when they moved to Cokato. In 1989 they moved from Cokato to Forest City Township in Meeker County.
