Melvin Lee, 91, of rural Franklin, died Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at Redwood Area Hospital.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Central Lutheran Church, Camp Township, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-9:30 a.m. Friday at Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel, Fairfax, and at the church, one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by a son, Dwayne and his special friend, Patricia Hanson of Franklin; daughters, Patricia and husband Ellsworth Sather of Franklin, Sharon and Vernon Weber of Fairfax; a stepson, Aurland Ness and his wife Marion of Franklin; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Gordon and wife Beverly of Fairfax, sisters, Selma Rosvold of Cottonwood, Mabelle Lerstad of Mesa, Ariz., Ella Wilson of Apache Junction, Ariz., sister-in-law, Evelyn Lee of Franklin; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Minnie Lee; wife, Alice in 1975; brothers, Lloyd in infancy, Eldred, Elmer, Art and Carl Oscar; sisters-in-law, Mildred and Inez, and brothers-in-law, Lyle Wilson, Oliver Rosvold, and Oliver Lerstad.
He was born on Aug. 16, 1909, in Camp Township, rural Franklin, to Samuel and Minnie (Jacobson) Lee.
He attended District 31 school.
He married Alice Ness in Stewart on Aug. 13, 1938.
He was a member of Central Lutheran Church, rural Franklin.
He farmed in the Franklin-Fairfax area.

Priscilla Miklos, 72 of Fairfax, died Wednesday, July 18, 2001, at Fairfax Community Home.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Fairfax, with burial of ashes in Ft. Ridgely Cemetery.
Visitation is one hour prior to services Monday at the church.
Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel, Fairfax, is handling arrangements.
She is survived by sister and brother-in-law, Rosemary and Lyle Maxwell, of Mesa, Ariz.; brother-in-law and his wife, Don and Phyllis of Bowlus; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Mary; husband, Alfred J. "Shorty" in 1988. brothers, Ray, Warren and Laurel; and sisters, Marvel, Garnet and Joy.
She was born Dec. 4, 1928, in New Ulm, to Fred W. and Mary (Case) Julius.
She grew up in Fairfax and graduated from Fairfax High School in 1947.
She worked as a pinsetter at the bowling alley in Fairfax.
She married Albert J. "Shorty" Miklos on Sept. 4, 1959, in Evergreen, Colo.
She owned and operated a beauty shop in Fairfax.
She and Shorty also owned and operated Shorty's Cafe in Fairfax.
She worked at ADC in Fairfax and LeSueur until retirement.
She entered the Fairfax Community Home on March 21.
She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and WELCA (Ladies' Aid).
She was a member of a local saddle club.

Minnie K. Olson, 84, of Mountain Lake, died Wednesday July 25, 2001, at Immanuel-St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mountain Lake. Burial will be in Mountain Lake Cemetery at 9:30 a.m. on the day of the service.
There will be no visitation. Eifert Funeral Home in Mountain Lake arranged services.
She is survived by son, John S. Olson and his wife Barbara of Courtland; daughter, Carol A. Loomis and her husband, Jerome of St. Cloud; five grandchildren, Adam J. Olson, Matthew J. Olson and Erin M. Olson, all of Courtland, Sabrina C. Loomis of Madison, Wisc., Steven J. Loomis of St. Cloud; brother, Harold Rickert of Minneapolis; sisters, Esther Janzen and her husband, Dan of Mountain Lake, Amanda Rickert and Katie Rickert both of Mountain Lake, and Emma Norland and her husband. Nell of Windom.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Walter, Henry, Fred and Carl Rickert; and one sister, Anna Hoppe.
She was born Oct. 6, 1916, in Jackson County, to Karl and Katherina. (Balzer) Rickert. She attended country school.
She did housekeeping for families. On Dec. 10, 1943, she married George C. Olson in Mountain Lake. They lived in rural Mountain Lake.
She worked for The Vollman's Cafe and Comer Cafe in Mountain Lake as well as the Mountain Lake Hospital and Good Samaritan Village.
She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Mountain Lake, where she was active in the Quilting Club, Lutheran Women's Missionary League, Vacation Bible School, Sunday School and was a visitation volunteer.

Mildred Reed, 88, of Madelia, died Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at Madelia Hospital.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church, Madelia with burial in Riverside Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Pilgrim Funeral Home, Madelia., and Monday at the church one hour prior to the service.
Survivors include daughters, Shirley Osborne and husband Donald of Crookston, Lynne Goodburn and husband Clarence of Madelia, and Anita Herring of Rochester; sons and wives, Earl and Elaine, Harvey and Norma, and Willard and Barb, all of Madelia; 18 grandchildren 28 great-grandchildren; and sister, Pearl West of Austin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a sister, Vivian Olson and a grandchild, Stephen Osborne.
She was born Aug. 28, 1912, to Riley and Corrine (Lyons) Smith in Lincoln Township, Blue Earth County.
She grew up in rural Madelia.
She graduated from Madelia High School in 1930.
She married Howard Reed on March 7, 1935, at her parents home.
They farmed in the Madelia area until 1991 when they moved into Madelia.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the United Presbyterian Women's Association.
She did volunteer work at Luther Memorial Home in Madelia.

Elinore Erickson, 83, formerly of rural New Ulm, died Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at Ebenezer Ridges Care Center in Burnsville.
Burial is 10 a.m. Saturday in Lake View Cemetery in Brighton Township, Nicollet County, with the funeral service to follow at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church in Lafayette
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today and 7:30-9 a.m. Saturday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. The Orient Chapter 60 of the Eastern Star will have a service at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, John and Gratia Erickson of Apple Valley, Joel and Mary Erickson of Osceola, Iowa, and Jerry Erickson and his wife Betsy Bissen of New Ulm; eight grandchildren, Nathan, Kristen, John, Jesse, Wade, Tate, Nick, and Alex; and her sister, Edith Anderson of Cedar.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence Erickson on Jan. 25, 1998; daughter, Joanne (Erickson) Folland in 1986; and a sister, Ella Grimsbo.
She was born Feb. 13, 1918, in Lake Prairie Township, Nicollet County, to Josiah and Ella (Johnson) Nelson.
She graduated from St. Peter High School in 1936. She attended the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis where she graduated in 1940 with her teaching degree.
She taught math and chemistry. On Aug. 22, 1942, she married Lawrence Erickson at the Scandian Grove Lutheran Church in Norseland.
They farmed the Erickson family farm.
She was a 4-H leader in Swan Lake.
She was a past member of the Brighton Methodist Church in Brighton Township, Nicollet County, where she was the choir director.
She was a member of the Bernadotte Lutheran Church in Bernadotte Township, Nicollet County, and the Orient Chapter 60 Order of the Eastern Star in New Ulm.

Bessie Blekestad, 84, of St. James, died Thursday, July 26, 2001, at her home.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Albion Lutheran Church, rural St. James, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-9 a.m. Monday at Sturm Funeral Home, St. James and one hour prior to the service at the church Monday.
She is survived by daughters and spouses, JoAnn and Les Anderson of St. James, Audrey and R.J. Steinle of Butterfield, Bernice and Orvis Lilleodden of Menahga and Carol and Duane Marstone of Hanska; sons and spouses, Orville and Adeline of Alexander, N.D., and Jerry and Linda of Hanska; 32 grandchilren; 69 great grandchildren; 11 great, great grandchildren; and sister and brother-in-law, Margret and Leon Irish of Plainview.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Evan; four great grandchildren; brothers, Mike, Floyd, Lyman, Joe, Walter, and Louis; and sisters, Pearl, Margie, Mabel, and Ruby.
She was born Nov. 17, 1916, in Pepin, Wis., to Glen and Grace (Grates) Ball.
At age four, she moved to South Branch as the foster child of Art and Cora Firchau.
She attended grade school in rural South Branch.
She married Evan Blekestad on Aug. 2, 1935 in Estherville, Iowa.
They farmed in rural St. James until they retired and moved to Hanska in 1980.
She worked at Tony Downs for nine years.
Her husband died in 1997.
She moved to St. James earlier this year.
She was a member of Albion Lutheran Church, rural St. James.

Viola Scheitel, 84, of North Mankato, died Thursday, July 26, 2001, at Immanuel St Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Mankato, with burial in St John's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Sheridan Township, Belview.
Visitation is 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Mankato Mortuary and one hour prior to the service at the church Monday.
She is survived by daughters, Pamela Davis and her husband Dennis of Mankato, Marilynn Sproat of Ramona, Calif., and Lori McGowan and her husband Larry of Edina; sons, Jerome and his wife Linda of Mandan, N.D., Rod and his wife Audre of North Mankato, and Jonathon of Tyler; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sister, Adeline Christopherson of Maplewood; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Walter in 1966; son, Gordon in 1952; a grandson; and 10 brothers and sisters.
She was born March 27,1917, in Sheridan Township, Redwood County, to August and Anna (Zuehlsdorf) Hagen.
She graduated from Redwood Falls High School in 1935. She attended beauty school.
She married Walter P. Scheitel on Oct. 25, 1943, in Sheridan Township, Redwood County.
He died in 1966. She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of North Mankato and its Ladies Aid.

Dale Bening, 64, of Arlington, died Thursday, July 26, 2001, at Sibley Medical Center, Arlington.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church, Arlington, with burial with military honors in Arlington Public Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Fenske Funeral Home, Arlington and one hour prior to the service at the church Monday.
He is survived by his wife Joyce of Arlington; daughters and spouses, Julie and Dan Carroll of New Ulm and Marcia and special friend Don Moldenhauer of Waconia; a sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Kenneth Renneke of Le Sueur; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Arlene and Ronald Martin of Winthrop; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was born March 20, 1937, in Arlington, to Milo and Dorothy (Ayer) Bening.
He graduated from Arlington High School in 1955.
He married Joyce Comnick on April 8, 1958, in Arlington. He served in the Army Reserves from Nov. 29, 1956, to Oct. 31, 1962.
He was a third-generation on the family farm in Arlington Township.
He worked part-time at Denzers Valley Ag in Le Sueur for more than 20 years.
He was a former Zion Church Council President and served on the building committee.

Catherine Trammell, 83, formerly of Hanska, died on July 8, 2001, in Pensacola, Fla.
Services were July 12 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Pensacola. She will be buried in the New Ulm City Cemetery.
She is survived by son, Thomas, of Venice, Fla.; three grandsons; brothers Warren and Ray Brudelie of Hanska; and sisters, Delphine Ohland of Rothschild, Wis. and Margaret Plaisance of New Ulm.
She was born Nov. 29, 1917, near Hanska, to Olaf and Anna Brudelie.
She attended District 67 Elementary School and graduated from Hanska High School at age 16.
She attended Mankato Commercial College.
She worked as a secretary for the Soil Conservation Office in Sleepy Eye, the Somsen Law Office in New Ulm and wrote a column called "This 'n That" for the Hanska Herald. She later worked in Minneapolis and at the War Production Board during WWII in Washington, D.C.
She married Tom Trammell and settled in Pensacola.
He died in a car accident in 1965. She worked for 15 years as a freelance court reporter and 10 years as a county employee.
She was active in the Lutheran Church and Democratic Party, holding the offices of president and secretary.

Damiyen J. Sullivan, infant son of Dustin and Josette (Rainey) Sullivan, died July 27, 2001, at the Redwood Falls Hospital.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Cornelia's Episcopal Church, Bishop Whipple Mission, on the the Lower Sioux Community, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home in Redwood Falls and 9 a.m. until the time of services at the Lower Sioux Community Hall.
Redwood Valley Funeral Home of Redwood Falls in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his parents, Dustin and Josette Sullivan of Redwood Falls; maternal grandfather, Benjamin Pendleton of the Lower Sioux Community, paternal grandparents, David and Debra Sullivan of Redwood Falls; maternal great grandmother, Lucille Rainey of Minneapolis, and paternal great grandmothers, Betty Mahoney of Redwood Falls, and Marie Sullivan of Morton; brothers, Dustin Jr. and D'ontrez, and two uncles and four aunts.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Josephine Rainey, and maternal great grandmother, Iola Pendleton.

Maynard Wilhelm, 73, of Winthrop, died Friday, July 27, 2001, at his home.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Penn Township, McLeod County, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Monday and 7:30-11 a.m. Tuesday at the Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop, and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Maynard Wilhelm, 73, of Winthrop died Friday, July 27, 2001, at his home.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Penn Township, McLeod County, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation 5-8 p.m. today and and 7:30-11 a.m. Tuesday at Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop and one hour before services at the church on Tuesday.
He is survived by his brother, Reuben Wilhelm of Winthrop; sisters, Verna Winter of Arlington, Bernetta Alsleben and her husband Alvin of Brownton and Ruth Clausen of Chaska; special friend, Martha Kleincky of Silver Lake; nieces and nephews; many great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Christ and Emma Wilhelm; sister, Elda Wilhelm; brothers-in-law, Harry Winter and Edward Clausen and other relatives.
He was born on Aug. 18, 1927, in Penn Township, McLeod County, to Christ and Emma (Rettmann) Wilhelm.
He served in the U. S. Army from September 1952 to July 1954 during the Korean War.
He farmed in partnership with his brother Reuben for 19 years in Grafton Township, Sibley County.
He belonged to the button box club in Glencoe.

Duane Fischer, 76, of Judson died Monday, July 30, 2001 at his home.
Services are 1 p.m. Thursday at Mankato Mortuary Chapel with military honors at Hebron Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Mankato Mortuary and Thursday, one hour prior to services at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to ISJ Hospice Program.
He is survived his wife, Helen of Judson; son and his wife, Tom and Kathy of Lake Crystal; daughter and her husband, Susan and Greg Johnson of Judson; seven grandchildren; brothers and their wives, Edwin and Violet of Judson and Stanley and Phyllis of New Ulm; sisters, Adeline Langhoff of Shoreview and Virginia Sandhofner and her husband, Ray; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was born Sept. 24, 1924, in Nicollet Township, Nicollet County, to Albert and Ella (Ginkel) Fischer. He attended Judson Elementary School and Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Parochial School in Nicollet. He served in the U. S. navy from On Dec. 1, 1942, to Jan. 29, 1946.
He married Helen Wendt Oct. 21, 1947, in Lamberton.
They lived in Judson and farmed in the area until his retirement in the early 1970s.
He also worked at Judson Implement as a welder and a farm equipment mechanic.
He retired in 1987.
He assisted the local farmers with planting and harvesting, mowed the ditches for Judson Township, and worked at Anderson Farms.
He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Judson.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 294 in Lake Crystal and a past member of the American Legion Post 510 in Nicollet.

Arlean F. Keizer, 76, of St. Cloud died Thursday, July 26, 2001, in St. Cloud.
Services were held Monday at the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield, with burial in the Sanborn City Cemetery.
She is survived by her sons, Dan of Princeton and John Jr. of Quincy, Ill.; four grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Leona Zimmerman and Orville of Sanborn, Leonard of Springfield, Betty Sutschek of Ingelside, Ill., and Susan Weable of Monticello.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on March 6, 1983; and brothers, Raymond, Walter, Dwight and Arthur.
She was born Dec. 16, 1924, in Stately Township, Brown County, to Herman and Louisa (Essig) Brown Jr.
She grew up in Sanborn.
She married John H. Keizer on Nov. 14, 1947, in Chicago, Ill.
She lived in Chicago all her married life.
She lived in Red Wing from 1996 until moving to St. Cloud in January 2001.

Alvera Miller, 92, of Sleepy Eye, formerly of New Ulm, died Friday, July 27, 2001, at Sleepy Eye Care Center.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Sturm Funeral Chapel, Springfield with burial in Springfield City Cemetery.
Visitation is at the funeral home, one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Andrew Larson and Robert Miller; brothers, Ervin Richert and Robert Richert; sister, Lucille Grabow; and two siblings in infancy.
She was born Sept. 13, 1908, in Brookville Township to Carl and Augusta (Strasburg) Richert.
She was a 1928 graduate of Springfield High School.
She attended the National Art School in Chicago.
On Dec. 26,1933, she married Andrew Larson in Springfield.
The couple lived in San Diego where she worked at the Standard Parachute Corp. during World War II.
They moved to Elk River and later to New Ulm.
After Andrew died, she married Robert Miller on March 14, 1979, in Carson City, Nev.
They lived in New Ulm, until ill health forced them to move to the Sleepy Eye Care Center in 1997.
