Jennifer Rose Grove, 31, of St. James, died Aug. 2, 2001, at Immanuel-St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August at First Presbyterian Church in St. James with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery in St. James.
Visitation begins at 9 a.m. the church.
Sturm Funeral Home, handled arrangements.
She is survived by her husband Craig; daughter, Harlie Rose; son, Blake; parents, Kathy and Gerry Linn of St. James; sisters, Marj and her husband Clint Brown of St. James; Sarah Linn and her fiance Mast Fast of St. James; two nephews; three nieces; parents-in-law, Lyle and Mona Grove of St. James; brothers-in-law, Kelly Grove of St. James, Brett and his wife Amy Grove of Florida; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
She was born on July 11, 1970, in St. James. She graduated from St. James High School in 1988. She married Craig Grove on Nov. 17, 1990. She worked as a licensed practical nurse for Pleasantview Nursing Home and Madelia Hospital. She helped establish a parish nurse program at St. James and Madelia Presbyterian churches. She served as a deacon at First Presbyterian Church and was a member of Presbyterian Women where she served as vice moderator. She was a student in the Institute for the Development of Lay Ministry of the Presbytery of Minnesota Valleys.

Joan A. Walter, 57, of Clements, died Aug. 2, 2001, at her son's home in St. Cloud after a long illness.
Funeral Mass was Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sauk Rapids. Burial was in St. Joseph Parish Cemetery in Waite Park.
Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud handled arrangements.
She is survived by her husband, Nicholas of Clements, children: Marie (Gary) Vogt, Chris (Dan) Walter, Nicholas Walter III, Amy (Mike) Schultz, Daniel (Kris) Walter, and Larry Walter; parents; Nicholas and Rosile (Braun) Hauser; brothers, Gerald (Barbara) Hauser, Kenneth (Peggy) Hauser; sister, Delrose (Melvin) Stadick; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Marlene Hauser.
She was born on May 17, 1944, at Sleepy Eye to Nicholas and Rosile (Braun) Hauser. She married Nicholas J. Walter Jr. on June 4, 1963, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. She lived most of her married life on a farm east of Clements.

Avis Meath, 68, of Fairmont, formerly of Sleepy Eye, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, at Fairmont Community Hospital.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Fairmont with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Fairmont.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today at St. John Vianney Catholic Church and one hour before the service Thursday at the church. A parish prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m.. Wednesday at the church.
Lakeview Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry of Fairmont; children, Michael and his wife, Diane, of White Bear Lake, Jayne Rowe and her husband, Luby, of Leavenworth, Kan.; Cathi Schmidt and her husband, David, of Rose Creek, Carole Olson and her husband, Randy, of Volga, S.D., and Thomas and his wife, Lori, of Rochester; eight grandchildren; a sister, Hyldred Peterson of Minneapolis; three brothers, Gordon Nelson and his wife, Darlene, of Park Rapids, Ordean Nelson and his wife, Ruth, of Howard Lake, and Lee Nelson of Marietta; nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, infant sister; two grandsons; and brothers-in-law, Rev. Burt Larson and Clint Peterson.
She was born on May 25, 1933, in Louisburg to J. Oliver and Rhoda (Mikelson) Nelson. She graduated from Canby High School in 1951 and attended Rasmussen Business College in St. Paul. She married Gerald R. Meath on Feb. 7, 1953 in Canby. They lived in New Richmond, Wisconsin, Madison, S.D., Sleepy Eye, Worthington, and in 1975 moved to Fairmont. She was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church, St Theresa's Circle and the Ladies Quilters.

Luverna Ebert, 69, of Gaylord, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, at Gaylord Lakeview Home in Gaylord.
Services are 6 p.m., Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 3-6 p.m. on Thursday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord.
Arrangements are handled by Egesdal Funeral Home.
She is survived by her brother and his wife, Ruben and Eldrene Ebert of Gaylord; special friend, Wilbert Hahn of rural Brownton; nieces and nephews and their families; six grandnieces; and grandnephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
She was born Jan. 13, 1932, in Dryden Township, Sibley County, to Herman and Elsie (Grewe) Ebert. She attended Immanuel Parochial School and graduated from Gaylord High School in 1950. She worked at the Sibley County Nursing service for 36 years, retiring in 1987. She was active in the After five group, American Cancer Society, Lakeview Auxiliary and numerous organizations as a volunteer. She held offices in most of these groups. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord and served as Church Council Secretary and was active in Ladies Aid. She lived in Dryden Township until September of 1998. She then made her home with her brother before entering the Gaylord Lakeview Home in March.

Lenora Briest, 87, of Gaylord died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, at the Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at American Lutheran Church in Gaylord with burial in the Gaylord Municipal Cemetery.
Visitation is 9-11 a.m. Thursday at American Lutheran Church in Gaylord.
Egesdal Funeral Home, Gaylord is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her daughter, Marjorie and husband, Garfield Eckberg of rural Nicollet; son, Roger and wife, Marti Briest of Eden Prairie; brother, Harold and wife Bernice Bierstedt of Gaylord; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her spouse in June 2000; parents; brothers, Elmer and Clarence Biersted; sister, Elda Lind; and a sister in infancy.
She was born March 30, 1914, in Sibley Township, to William and Bertha (Franke) Bierstedt.
She married Donald Briest, on Sept. 4, 1937, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Gaylord. They farmed in rural Gaylord until 1977 when they moved to Gaylord. She was a member of American Lutheran Church and WELCA. She volunteered for Gaylord Hospital Auxiliary and Gaylord Lakeview Home. She was a resident of the Heritage House in Gaylord before entering the Lutheran Home In Belle Plaine in February.

Adolph A. Poehler, 89, formerly of Courtland, died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2001, at Oak Park Place in North Mankato.
Service are 2 p.m. Sunday at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Mankato, with burial in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Lewisville.
Visitation is 4 - 8 p.m. Saturday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and one hour prior services at the church on Sunday.
He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Jerry Mathiowetz of Oklahoma; three grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn Poehler on Aug. 28, 1997; brothers, Albert, Henry, Louie and Theodore; and sisters, Louise, Pauline, Alvina and Caroline.
He was born Oct. 7, 1911, in Courtland Township, Nicollet County, to Otto and Ida (Krause) Poehler. He married Evelyn Boeck on Feb. 15, 1942, at the Zion Lutheran Church Parsonage in Lewisville. They farmed near Lewisville and north of Butterfield. In 1946 they moved to New Ulm where he worked for Stoltenburg Motors. He later owned his own garage in Courtland for two years and then returned to Stoltenburg Motors in New Ulm. He owned and operated Poehler Furnace Cleaning in Mankato from 1960 to 1980. In 1998 he moved to Amberfield Apartments in Madelia, living there until October 2000 when he moved to Heritage Meadows in St. Peter. He was a resident of Oak Park Place in North Mankato since February. He was a member of the Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Mankato.

Joseph Bedford, 21, of Sherburn died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2001, as a result of a car accident near Sherburn.
Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Sherburn, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-9 p.m. today at Kramer Family Funeral Home, Sherburn and Saturday at the church, one hour prior to services.
He is survived by his parents, Michael and Michelle of Sherburn; brother, Jeremy of Spencer, Iowa, and his special friend Jessica Utesch; sisters, Brenda Nelson and her husband, Scott of Hanska; and Lisa of Sioux Falls, South S.D.; Joe's special friend. Ann Carney of Estherville, Iowa; grandmothers, Stella of Trimont and Ann Dank of Cleveland; and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, George Bedford and Jerome Dank.
He was born Aug. 7, 1980, to Michael and Michelle (Dauk) Bedford at Fairmont. He was a 1999 graduate of Martin County West High School. He studied agronomy at lowa State University. He was employed at Sherburn Nursery and Floral. He was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church in Sherburn.

Mark Dammers, 32, formerly of New Ulm, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2001 at home.
Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Stephenville Christian Reformed Church with burial in Liberty Cemetery.
Visitation is 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Lacy Funeral Home, Stephenville.
He is survived by his wife, Marsha of Stephenville; sons, Jay and Ben; daughters, Manon and Jessica; parents the Hans Dammers of The Netherlands; sisters, Tanja and Charro of The Netherlands; and paternal grandparents Jan W. Dammers and Christina W. Kip, both of The Netherlands.
He was born Sept. 8, 1968 in Houten, The Netherlands. He married Marsha Taylor June 20, 1992 in Huckabay, Texas. He worked at Four Seasons Dairy near New Ulm until 1998.

Grace Weedman, 57, of Lamberton, died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2001 at Springfield Medical Center.
Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Lamberton United Methodist Church.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Monday at Sturm Funeral Home, Lamberton and Monday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by her husband, Richard of Lamberton; a son, Mark of Westbrook; daughter, Kris and her husband Dean Van Keulen of Amiret; her mother, Hazel Hanson of Lamberton; sisters, Jackie and husband Jack Buysse of Valley Springs, S.D., and Judy and Verlane Lang of Balaton; brothers, David and wife Debbie Evans of Waterville, and Leo and wife Elfrieda Evans of Lake City.
She is preceded in death by her father, Verdun Hanson.
She was born Aug. 22, 1943, to Verdun and Hazel Hanson in Marshall. She graduated from Marshall High School. On April 27, 1962, she married Richard Woodman in Amiret. In 1964 the couple moved to Windom and in 1969 made their home in Lamberton. She was currently employed at Valley View Nursing Home in Lamberton.

Arnold J. Windschitl, 78, of rural Motley, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2001, at the Greater Staples Hospital.
Mass of Christian burial is 11 a.m. Monday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Motley, with burial in the Motley Public Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Brenny Funeral Home, Staples. The rosary will be said at 6:30 with the parish prayers at 7 p.m.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta; children, Carol Priesinger of Jersey City, N.J., Gary of Motley, Ralph of Park Rapids, Tony of Menahga, Bob of Marble, Leo of Motley, Paul of Sioux Falls, S.D., Tom of Fridley, Joan Arango of Sparta, Tenn., Rita Miller of Staples, and Roger of Columbia, Md.; sisters, Marie Landsteiner of New Ulm, Lois Tuzinski of Minneapolis, Alice Stueber of New Ulm, Jean Dummer of New Ulm, and Joan Krzmarzick of Rochester; brothers, Curtis and Alvin, both of New Ulm, and Lyle of Lafayette; 23 grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Raymond; son, Jim, in 1977; and an infant son, Joseph.
He was born on Feb. 14, 1923, in Comfrey, to Anton and Frances (Hillesheim) Windschitl. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school. In December 1944, he went into the Navy and served in the South Pacific. Following his discharge in August 1946, he returned to Brown County where he farmed with his family. He married Loretta Faerber on April 27, 1948, at St Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm. They worked on his family farm before moving with their children to a farm near Stewart. In 1975 they bought a farm between Motley and Pillager. Arnold also worked for 10 years at Morey's before his retirement in 1989.
He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Motley, and American Legion Post 0124 in Motley.

Ada McRoberts, 96, of Jacksonbville, Fla., died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2001, after a lingering illness.
Visitation is 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sunset Funeral Home, 2250 St. Anthony Blvd. NE, Minneapolis.
She is survived by sister-in-law, Carol Strate of New Ulm; nieces, Sandra Schrooer and husband Jim of Jacksonbille and Yvonne Boelter and husband Donald of Richmond; and nephews Steve Strate and wife Sue of Mayer, Ariz., and Jerry Strate and wife Carol of Ottertail.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Lee and Roy Strate; sisters Leona Strate and Muriel Walsh and husband, Elwood McRoberts.
She was the daughter of August and Emma (Haenze) Strate of West Newton Township, Nicollet County.

Orpha Kiecker, 81, of Gaylord, died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2001, at Gardenview Nursing Home in LeSueur.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord, with burial in the church cemetery,

She is survived by her son, Virgil Kiecker of Gaylord; sister and brother-in-law, Vernita and Herman Eickmann of Van Alstyne, Texas; brother, Elmer Bleick of New Ulm; two grandsons; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1982; parents; sister, Edna Keske and sons in infancy, Vernon and Verdel.
She was born Nov. 23, 1919, in West Newton Township, Nicollet County, to Robert and Clara (Wendt) Bleick. She married Gilbert A. Kiecker on Oct. 18, 1948 at Ridgely Lutheran Church Parsonage in Ridgely Township, Nicollet County. They farmed in Renville County until 1966 when they moved to Gaylord. She worked at Nagel Packing Co. in Arlington and Fingerhut in Gaylord for 20 years. In 1989 she moved to Gardenview Nursing Home in LeSueur.

Clara Rasche, 88, died on Aug. 9, 2001, at the Windom Hospital.
Services are Monday at Grace Lutheran Church in Westbrook.
She is survived by sister, Lydia Mentjes of Tracy, and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother; and three sisters.
She was born Aug. 22, 1912, in Rosehill Township, Cottonwood County, to Louis and Emma (Rachuy) Rasche. She grew up in the Westbrook area and graduated from high school in 1930. She worked for a doctor and in a bakery for a while before attending college at St. Cloud, where she received a teaching certificate. She received a bachelor's degree from St. Cloud State University and took additional courses to become a principal. She taught in District 34 for a year; in District 68 for two years; south of Garvin in District 13 until 1945; in Walnut Grove until 1956; and 5th and 6th grade in Windom until she retired in 1976. She served as a middle school principal in Windom for several years.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and its Ladies' Aid, where she was active with the Swing Club. She served as treasurer of the Alpha Alpha Chapter of the International Organization of Delta Kappa Gamma Teachers Organization; and was a member of the Minnesota Historical Society and the Retired Teachers Association of Minnesota.
