Luverne Hedstrom, 68, of Morgan, died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2001 at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Morgan with burial in the Bethel Cemetery, in Hoffman, Minn.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at the Nelson-Martin Funeral Home in Morgan and will continue on Friday on hour prior to the service at the church.
She is survived by her husband, Robert of Morgan; sons, Gary Hedstrom and wife Denise of Bemidji, and Kevin Hedstrom and wife Lucy of Elk River; daughters, Kathi Hedstrom of Minnetonka, and Kristi Hedstrom and husband Tim of Rapid City, S.D.; five grandchildren; a brother Harris Hedin of Willmar; and sister Hazel Anderson and husband Elroy of Hoffman.
She was born July 19, 1933 in Hoffman to Herman and Lydia (Nelson) Hedin. She attended Hoffman schools graduating from Hoffman High School in 1951. She then attended Glenwood Hills Nursing School graduating in 1952. She married Robert Hedstrom on Feb. 12, 1956 in Hoffman. She was a technician at Artesyn Technologies for 22 years retiring on Oct. 16, 1998. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and WELCA, and the VFW Auxiliary.

Elvin Lofgren, 85, of St. James, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2001, at Immanuel St. Joseph Hospital, Mankato.
Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. James Catholic Church, St. James, with burial in Calvary Cemetery, St. James.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-10 a.m. Friday at Sturm Funeral Home, St. James. A Christian Mother's Rosary is 4 p.m. and a parish prayer service is 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, LouAnn, of St. James; daughters, Pam Schmillen of Chaska, Diane and her husband Tom Robinson of Victoria, Cheryl Lofgren of Victoria, Barb and her husband Larry Twedt of Frost, and Jane and her husband Mike Brandts of St. James; 16 grandchildren; sister, Muriel Burgin, of Milford, Iowa; brother, Clifford and his wife Renee of Gainesville, Fla.; sisters-in-law, Lavon Morgan of St. James and Millie of Mobile Ala.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Olaf and Lillie; brothers, Ronald, Vernon and Emery; sister, BIenda Peterson; and grandson Thomas Brandts.
He was born on March 12, 1916, to Olaf and Lillie (Swanson) Lofgren, at the family farm in rural St. James. He married LouAnn Spitzner on May 6, 1944, at St. James CatholicChurch. He farmed the homestead with his brother Vernon until his retirement.
He lived there his entire life. He was active in the Knights of Columbus and the Lions Club in St. James.

Herbert J. Wolf, 91, of Truman died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2001, at Lakeview Methodist Care Center.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturdayat Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday at the Olson Funeral Home in Fairmont and one hour prior to the services at the church.
He is survived by hie wife, Jeanette; one daughter, Jean Eicker of Napa, Idaho; one grandson; two great-grandchildren,and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Herbert was born July 31, 1910 in Westford Township in Martin County to Robert and Lena (Kastning) Wolf. He attended rural school and St. Paul's Lutheran School in Truman, where he graduated in 1929. He later graduated from Mankato State University in 1933 and later did graduate work at the University of Wyoming. He married Jeanette Kaiser of Wells on Aug. 25, 1936. He taught in several schools before to Fairmont in 1942, where he taught boys' physical education until retirement in 1976. He then began coaching boys' gymnastics and baseball. His gymnastics team won state championships and his baseball teams were in the state playoffs six years in a row.
He was named Coach of the Year in 1971 by the Minnesota Gymnastics Coaches Association. He organized the Sentinel Relays from 1958 to 1976. He served as Farimont's basketball coach for seven years. He was also Fairmont's city baseball coach and coordinated the Kiwanis Little League baseball program. He was also active in the Kiwanis and was in charge of the Travelogue Program for 10 years. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont and served as a council member, chairman of the congregation and superintendent of the Sunday School. He was involved with the 4-H Club for 29 years.
He umpired baseball and refereed football and basketball in Minnesota and Iowa. He was named to the Minnesota High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame, Mankato State University Hall of Fame and was a member of the first group inducted into the Fairmont High School Hall of Fame. He won the Golden Deed Award in 1987. In 1989, he was Martin County's outstanding senior citizen. He loved horses and was a member of the Fairmont Saddle Club and rode in parades for 40 years.

Mary E. Osborne, 92, of Madelia, died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2001, at Hillcrest Healthcare Center in Mankato.
Services are at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Madelia, with burial in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Friday and 9-10 a.m. Saturday at the Pilgrim Funeral Home in Madelia. There will be a parish prayer service at the funeral home 7:30 p.m. Friday.
She is survived by son, William Osborne and wife Eva of Forth Worth, Texas; daughters, Marylin Frederickson of St. Paul, Margie Winch and husband Bill of Mankato, Kay Hippert and husband Daryl of Glenwood, Karen Paulson of Eagle Lake, and Vivian Peyman and husband Daryle of Fairmont; step-daughter, Clair Klaras of Owantonna; 20 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Eileen Keenan; step-son, Eugene Osborne; three grandsons and four great grandchildren.
She was born May 22, 1909, in Madelia, to Jospeh and Elizabeth (Phalen) McMullen. She graduated from St. James High School in 1927. She married Raymond Osborne on Feb. 23, 1931, in Madelia. They farmed near Lewisville and retired to Madelia in 1961. Raymond died on April 27, 1978. Mary moved to Mankato in 1990 and entered the Hillcrest Healthcare Center on Nov. 9, 1999.

Olive E. Rogers, 92, of Madelia, formerly of Lake Crystal, died on Thursday, Aug. 16, 2001, at Luther Memorial Home in Madelia.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church in Lake Crystal, with burial in Riverside Cemetery in Madelia.
Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Lake Crystal Mortuary and one hour prior to services at the church Monday.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Vera and Donald Holzapfel of Mankato, Audrey and Gustav Degler of Eagan and Helen and Lee Owens of Lake Crystal; son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Charlotte Rogers of Lake Crystal; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother Howard Chamberlain of Mankato; brothers-in-law Ralph Jensen of Minneapolis and Cecil Rogers of Mankato; sisters-in-law and husbands, Virginia and Allen Asleson of Madison Lake, Bessie Smith of St. James and Velma Rogers of Madelia; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; sisters Norma Wengert and Mildred Jensen; and brothers Jason, George and Paul Chamberlain.
She was born on Jan. 6, 1909, to George and Eva (Fellows) Chamberlain in rural Lyndon, Whiteside County, Illinois. While a small child, she moved with her family to Mora and then, as a teenager, to the Madelia area. She married Ivan J. Rogers on June 13, 1931, in St. James. They lived along the Watonwan River before moving to a farm near Lake Crystal in the 1940s. She was a homemaker and farm wife all her life. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lake Crystal and a former member of the Yadsendew Neighbors Club.

Phyllis C. Forbrook, 74, of Route 2, Nicollet, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2001, at the Winthrop Good Samaritan Center in Winthrop.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Peter, with burial in the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, rural Nicollet.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and will continue on Monday for one hour prior to the time of service at the church.
She is survived by her husband, Lester Forbrook, of rural Nicollet; a daughter Jill Stower and her husband, John, of Kansas City, Mo.; sons James "Jim" Forbrook, and his wife Kathy, of rural Hackensack, John "Jack" Forbrook, and his wife Etta, of rural Mankato, Jerome "Jerry" Forbrook, and his wife Barb, of Shoreview; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a sister, Iris Yost, of St. Peter; and a sister-in-law, Gladys Drake, and her husband, John, of St. Peter. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Clarence Weber; and a brother-in-law, Raymond Yost.
She was born Sept. 28, 1926, in St. Peter to Willilam and Viola (Michels) Weber. She was a graduate of St. Peter High School. She married Lester Forbrook on June 6, 1947, in Minneapolis. They farmed in Granby Township, Nicollet County. She lived on the farm until moving to the Lafayette Good Samaritan Center in 1999. On June 16, 2000 she moved to the Winthrop Good Samaritan Center in Winthrop. She was a member of the St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Peter.

Shane Hollermann, 7, grandson of Julie Hollermann of Roseville, formerly of New Ulm, died Friday, Aug. 10, 2001, at North Memorial Medical Center, Robbinsdale, due to injuries from a car accident.
Mass of Christian burial was 11 a.m. Friday in Waterville.
He is survived by his parents, John and Michele; brother, Seth; sister, Rose; grandparents Alvin and Margaret Herman of Waterville and Julie Hollermann of Roseville; and a great grandmother, Phyllis Sadusky of Staples.
He was preceded in death by a grandfather.
He was born Oct. 10, 1993, in Mankato, to John and Michele (Herman) Hollermann. He was a student at Waterville-Elysian-Morristown Public Schools and active in the Cub Scouts, Waseca Hockey Association and Elysian Willing Hands 4-H Club. He belonged to St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Elysian.

Ethan Hollermann, 9, grandson of Julie Hollermann of Roseville, formerly of New Ulm, died Friday, Aug. 10, 2001, at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital, Mankato, due to injuries from a car accident.
Mass of Christian burial was 11 a.m. Friday in Waterville.
He is survived by his parents, John and Michele; brother, Seth; sister, Rose; grandparents Alvin and Margaret Herman of Waterville and Julie Hollermann of Roseville; and a great grandmother, Phyllis Sadusky of Staples.
He was preceded in death by a grandfather.

Evelyn Thompson, 89, of Fairfax died on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001 at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park. She was the wife of the late Cy Thompson.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Fairfax, with burial at 12 Noon Tuesday in Black Duck.
Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Fairfax. Hauser-Hantge Chapel in Fairfax is in charge of arrangements.

Evelyn Thompson, 89, of Fairfax, died Saturday, August 18, 2001, at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park.
Services are 1 p.m. today at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Fairfax. Burial is Tuesday at 12 p.m. in Blackduck.
Visitation is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the church.
Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel handled arrangements.
She is survived by sons, Gerald Thompson and his wife, Melinda of Minnetonka, Kenneth Thompson and his wife, Beverly of Bloomington, Richard Thompson of Grand Rapids; grandchildren, Gregory Thompson of Minnetonka, Michael Thompson of Bloomington, Paul Thompson of Las Vegas, Heidi (Thompson) Turnquist of Eden Prairie, Peter Thompson of Minnetonka; great-granddaughter, Hanna Turnquist; and relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Cyrus Thompson in 1995.
She was born on June 28, 1912, in Heron Lake Township, Jackson County, to Gustav and Bertha (Lueck) Balko. She attended school in Turtle Lake and Almena, Wis. She married Cyrus T. Thompson in Puposke, Minn., on June 28, 1935. They lived in in Harvey, N.D., until 1937, and then various towns in northern Minnesota, until 1945, when they moved to Fairfax. She worked at the First National Bank in Fairfax. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Fairfax where she belonged to Ladies Aid, held offices and taught Sunday School.

Kurt G. Eisen, 79, of 1239 Third South in New Ulm, died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001, at the Sleepy Eye Care Center.
Mass of Christian burial is 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in City Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Eleonore "Ella" Eisen of New Ulm; daughter and son-in-law, Heidi and James Glover of Eden Prairie; son and daughter-in-law, Horst and Cindy Eisen of New Ulm; grandchildren, Nik Glover, Paul Glover and Cathy Eisen; and great-granddaughter, Hayley; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Walter Eisen during World War II, and Helmut G. Eisen on July 11, 2001.
He was born on Aug. 27, 1921, in Marienbad, Czechoslovakia, to Emil and Barbara (Riehs) Eisen. He attended school in Czechoslovakia. After high school he attended trade school for two years studying grocery management. He married Ella Arbes on Dec. 17, 1946, in Wertingen Bavaria, Germany. In April 1955 they immigrated to the United States and came to Waldorf, Minn., In August 1955, they moved to New Ulm. He worked at the New Ulm Brick & Tile Yard. In April 1956 he started working at Kraft Foods in New Ulm as a quality control technician. He retired in 1983. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity and was a charter member of the German-Bohemian Heritage Society.

M. Dale Beckwith, 73, of Redwood Falls, died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001, at the VA Hospital in St. Cloud.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls with burial of cremains in the Redwood Falls Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the Redwood Falls American Legion, VFW and National Guard units at the cemetery.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Nelson-Martin Funeral Horne in Redwood Falls and one hour before services at the church on Wednesday.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene Beckwith of Redwood Falls; children, Dennis Beckwith of Grand Rapids, Kerry Beckwith and special friend Mary Crandall of Hibbing, Kathy Beckwith of Duluth, Dayle-Ann Wood and special friend Duane Buck of Zumbrota, Tara Hyde and her husband Ray of Hailey, Idaho, Karen Wells and her husband Scott of Somerset, Wis., and Beth Anderson and her husband Lee of Redwood Falls; 13 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; brother, Larry Anderson and his wife Evelyn of Ely; sister, Jean Beckwith of Des Moines, Iowa; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Purnell of Albuquerque, N.M.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Andy Anderson; and one brother, Doug Beckwith.
He was born Jan. 16, 1928, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Henry and Florence (Yeager) Beckwith. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Marlene Westerback on April 14, 1972, in Superior, Wis. He owned and operated Shell Tire in Superior. He moved to Cloquet, where he owned and operated Stock Tire Company until retiring in 1985. During retirement, he owned and operated "Ye Old Popcorn Wagon" as a traveling concession business for 13 years. While living in Superior, Wis., he was a member of the Masons, Superior Rotary Club, and Elks.
The family prefers memorials to the American Lung Association.

Martin Raddatz, 85, of Redwood Falls, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2001, at Wood Dale Nursing Home in Redwood Falls.
Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Redwood Falls, with burial in the Crestlawn Memorial Gardens, rural Redwood Falls.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at Nelson-Martin Funeral Home, Redwood Falls, and Wednesday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by brothers, Fritz, and Richard and his wife Delores, all of Redwood Falls; sisters, Hilda Christensen and her husband Norman of Redwood Falls and Leona Lantto of Annandale; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Alfred, Walter and Harvey; and sisters, Josephine Bode, Dora Raddatz and Emily Stem.
He was born Dec. 13, 1915, in New Avon Township, Redwood County, to Emil and Anna (Struckman) Raddatz. He attended District 14 schools and Dunwoody Institute, Minneapolis. He served in the U.S. Army from April 17, 1942 until Oct. 13, 1945, in the Medical Corps. He worked at Larson's Brothers as an auto mechanic and Redwood Falls Hospital as a steam engineer for 16 years. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Clarence Zangel, 88, of Necedah, Wis., died Friday, Aug. 17, 2001, at his home.
Mass of Christian burial is 10 a.m. today at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Chapel in Necedah, with burial in the Queen of Holy Rosary Mediatrix of Peace Cemetery.
Visitation is 8:30-9:30 a.m. today at the Torkelson Necedah Family Funeral Home.
He is survived by wife, Elizabeth Susan; sons, Clarence R. and wife Christine Zangel, and Joseph J. and wife Theresa Zangel; daughters, Judith A. and husband Leonard P. Mandrgoc, and Jane E. Benson; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and siblings Roman Zangel and wife Sylvia of New Ulm, Loraine Schnobrich/Altman of New Ulm, and Marcella (Sr. M. Geroldine) of Wilmette, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his father, Fredrick on Nov. 22, 1955; mother, Franciska, on Aug. 20, 1943; grandson, Barry James Zangel, on July 31, 1961; brothers, Fred Jr., John, Charles, Herbert, Frank and Emil; sisters, Hattie, Clara, Veronica, Hildagarda, Lillian (Sr. Theophina), and Loretta; and two infants.
He was born Jan. 11, 1913, to Fredrick and Franciska (Schroedl) Zangel in the family home in New Ulm. He grew up in New Ulm. He attended St. Mary's Catholic School. His family was one of the founding families of the church that was built in 1921. After serving in the National Guard's Company "A" at Camp Fort Ripley, Little Falls, he worked at the Eager Roller Mill in New Ulm. His last years at the mill were spent driving a "big rig" truck for Supersweet Feeds. After retiring from the mill in March 1975, he moved with his wife to Necedah.
He married Elizabeth Susan Hartung on June 28, 1939, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm from 1922 to 1975, a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Chapel in Necedah, and a lifetime member of the Catholic Aid Society-St. Joseph.
