Grover Busk, 86 of Westbrook died Thursday, Sep. 27, 2001 at the Westbrook Good Samaritan Care Center.
Service are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Baptist Church, Westbrook with burial in the Westbrook Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Monday at the Westbrook Funeral Home, and Tuesday at the church, one hour prior to services.
He is survived by his wife Hazel; his children, Carol Baker and husband Russell of Leadville Colo., Linda Fossum of Minneapolis, and Chuck and wife Sue of Tampa, Fla.; six grandchildren, a great grand-daughter; siblings: Alice Mitchell, Dorothy Bracht and husband Wally, Robert Busk and wife Marion, Velma, Mario "Rusty" and wife Gladys, and Marlys Parsons and husband Earl; and many other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Rose and Gladys, and two infant siblings.
Memorials are preferred to the Westbrook Christian School, ICO: Immanuel Baptist Church.
He was born Aug. 12, 1915 in Summitt, S.D. to Carl and Esther (Sorenson) Busk. On May 13, 1942, Grover entered the U.S. Army Air Corps, where he served in Italy during WWII. On Dec. 7, 1945, he was honorably discharged from the service. He married Hazel Erickson Sept.13, 1946 in Westbrook. They lived for a short time in Windom, before moving to Dovray. He worked at the Dovray Grain Company for over 20 years. When the couple moved to Westbrook, he became a custodian at the Westbrook Elementary School until retirement. He was a member of the American Legion in both Westbrook and Dovray. He was a longtime member of Immanuel Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and as a Sunday School teacher.

Kevin Kalkhoff, 46, of Morgan, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001 at his home.
Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Morgan with burial in the Catholic Cemetery in Morgan.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the church and Wednesday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
Nelson-Martin Funeral Service, Morgan, is handling arrangements.

Harry Peterson, 104, of Sleepy Eye, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001 at Sleepy Eye Care Center.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Faith United Methodist Church, Sleepy Eye with burial in Home Cemetery, Sleepy Eye.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Monday at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye and Tuesday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by his son, Jack and Patricia Peterson of Braham; seven grand daughters and great grandchildren; a sister, Myrtle Peterson of Missoula, Mont.; and nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Russell, Evert, Roy, and Archie; and a sister, Lucille Johnston.
He was born Feb. 13, 1897 in Leavenworth Township, to Thomas and Martha (Fredickson) Peterson. He was one of the three students who were taught ninth grade subjects in Cobden and the following year he took an agriculture short course in Sleepy Eye. He complete a one year accounting course at the Minnesota Business College. He and a brother and a cousin worked in the harvest fields of Kansas, South and North Dakota. In 1925 he married Loreta Marie Hanson. After they were married they lived a short time in Minneapolis, then moved to his mother's small farm in Cobden, In 1930 they moved to Loretta's mother's larger farm in Eden Township where he was one of the original growers for Del Monte. In 1945 he bought a farm three miles north of Evan in Eden Township and remained there until he retired in 1965. They moved to Sleepy Eye. After he retired they traveled extensively in the United States and took trips to Europe, Mexico, Canada, and Hawaii. She died in 1989. In 1992 he moved to an apartment at Countryside Retirement Community. He was an active member of the Sleepy Eye Methodist Church for over 10 years and volunteered many hours when the present church was built. He was a member and an officer of the Brown County Farm bureau, a 50-year member of the Mason's and Eastern Star. He served six years as a supervisor on the Eden Township Board, three years as an assessor in Eden Township, and six years on the Brown County ASCA Board.

Myron Trebesch, 70, of Sleepy Eye, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001 at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Springfield with burial in Home Cemetery, Sleepy Eye.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye and 8:30-10:30 a.m. Monday at the church.
He is survived by his wife Bernus Trebesch of Sleepy Eye; daughters Muriel and husband Dave Walter of Springfield, Kristine and husband Tim Buri of Byron; a son, Ronnie and wife Suzanne Trebesch of Sleepy Eye; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; his mother, Verna Trebesch of Sleepy Eye; a sister, Eunice Windschitl of Sleepy Eye and a brother, Patrick and wife Nancy Trebesch of Faribault.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur; a brother in law, Linus Windschitl and mother and father-in-law, Albert and Wilhelmina Trost.
He was born March 8, 1931 in Leavenworth Township, Brown County to Arthur and Verna (Meinert) Trebesch. He attended country school, after which he farmed with his dad at home. On Aug. 24, 1954, he married Bernus Trost in Wabasso. They farmed in Leavenworth Township. In 1957 they purchased a farm in Brookville Township. He was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Springfield.

Kevin Kalkhoff, 46, of Morgan died Saturday at his, home.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Morgan with burial in the Catholic Cemetery, Morgan.
Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. Tuesday with a Parish Prayer service at 8 p.m., at the church and will continue for one hour prior to the time of Mass at the church on Wednesday. Nelson-Martin Funeral Service of Morgan is in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the American Heart Association.
He is survived by his father, Bernard Kalkhoff and wife Bernice of Morgan; sisters, Bonnie Mathiowetz and her husband David of Morgan, Mavis Schumacher and her husband Gary of Lamberton, Claire Miller and her husband Dennis of Shoreview, LouAnn Gunderson and her husband Chuck of Bloomington, Mary Jo Schroeder and her husband Gary of Sleepy Eye; and sister-in-law, Denise Kalkhoff of Morgan; aunts and uncles; twenty nieces and nephews, and five great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Louise in 1986; his grandparents; and his brother Ken in 1998.
He was born March 29, 1955 in Sleepy Eye to Bernard and Louise (Weber) Kalkhoff. He lived with his family in Eden Township, Brown County and attended St. Michael's Elementary School. He graduated from Morgan Public High School in 1973. He was a dairy farmer for a number of years. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, the Diocesan Worship and Liturgy Committee, a past choir director, and church organist for 33 years. He was the recipient of the Bishop's Service Award in 1995.

John Dunlevy, 90, of Redwood Falls died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001 at the Wood Dale Nursing Home, Redwood Falls.
Mass of Christian burial will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Redwood Falls with burial in the Catholic Cemetery in Redwood Fans.
Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. Tuesday with a prayer service at 7 p.m. and a rosary following, led by the Knights of Columbus at the Nelson-Martin Funeral Home, Redwood Falls.
He is survived by his wife, Florence of Redwood Falls; children, Charles and his wife Judith of Redwood Falls, Catherine Malone and her husband Thomas of Cottage Grove, Daniel and his wife Judith of Eden Prairie, Mary Sherburne and her husband James of Golden Valley, Margaret Carlson and her husband Steven of New York; 10 grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Hugh (Luella) Dunlevy of Redwood Falls.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers and three sisters: William, Laura, James, Edward Jr., Rose Langin, Theresa Kline, and Hugh.
He was born on April 15, 1911 in Redwood Falls to Edward Sr. and Rose Anna (Garnhardt) Dunlevy. He lived in rural Redwood Falls, graduating from Redwood Falls High School. He farmed the family homestead and married Florence A. Hrdlicka on Jan. 22, 1942 at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in. Redwood Falls. They lived on the family farm until 1979, when they retired and moved into Redwood Falls. He was a lifelong member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Douglas Wiese, 36, died on Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, at his home in rural Comfrey.
Services are Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at New Hope Lutheran Church in Comfrey, with burial in the Faith Lutheran Cemetery in Comfrey.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30-9 a.m. Thursday at the Sturm Funeral Home in Comfrey and one hour prior to the service at the church.
He is survived by his parents, Donald and Joyce Wiese of Comfrey; sisters, Ramona and husband Jim Widmer of New Ulm, and Debra and husband Burt Manz of Park Rapids; brother, David and wife Nancy Wiese of New Ulm; four nieces and nephews; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
He was born July 26, 1965, in Comfrey to Donald and Joyce (Becker) Wiese. He graduated from Comfrey High School in 1983. He went on to attend a Vocational Technical School at Staples for operating heavy and equipment and worked at Schwans in Marshall for some time. He entered the U.S. Navy on April 27, 1987, working as a Machinist's Mate and Fireman. Following his discharge in 1990, he worked at Hackers for a time, then went on to attend Jackson Vo Tech and Rochester Vo Tech for refrigeration. He worked at Tony Downs, and later was employed at Campbell Soup Company in Worthington in the winter and Del Monte Company in Sleepy Eye in the summer. Most recently he worked at the Sugar Beet Plant in Renville. He was a former member of Faith Lutheran Church in Comfrey and a current member of New Hope Lutheran Church.

Helen E. Holmes, 93, of St. Paul and formerly of Leavenworth, died on on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. today at Little Sisters of the Poor in St. Paul, with burial in the Church of Japanese Martyrs Catholic Cemetery in Leavenworth.
Visitation is from 9:30-10:30 a.m. today at Little Sisters of the Poor.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Bernadette Lukas, Catherine and Sheldon Hasse, Veronica and Eugene Bender, Mary Anne and Joseph Murphy and Joan Holmes; sister-in-law Frances Schumacher; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; sons, Cyril and Joseph; son-in-law, Stanley; a grandson; and four brothers and four sisters.

William Werner, 82, of Redwood Falls, died on Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, at the Redwood Area Hospital.
Services are 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 5, at First United Methodist Church in Redwood Falls, with burial at a later date.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. at the Nelson-Martin Funeral Home in Redwood Falls and one hour prior to services at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Delores "Dee" Ann Werner of Redwood Falls; children, William Scott Werner and wife Juanita of Forest Lake, Schelle Lynn Sander and husband Randy of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Jason Allen Werner of Willmar; seven grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Henry Werner of Marshalltown, Iowa, Russell Werner of Montur, Donna Atha of Marshalltown, Nancy Fowler of Toledo, Iowa, and Joann Kreigel of Tama, Iowa.
He was born June 21, 1939, in Tama, Iowa, to Henry Donald and Nettie Norma (Adams) Werner. He graduated from Tama High School in 1957. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 to 1961. He was stationed at Langley Air Force Base in West Virginia and spent a year in Iceland. He attended Iowa University in Iowa City from 1961 to 1967 and graduated with a degree in physical therapy. He worked at St. Francis Hospital in Breckenridge for a year and then moved to Redwood Falls in 1968 to work at Redwood Falls Area Hospital. He was a physical therapist for 34 years.

Harold Peik, 88, of Arlington, died on Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Peace Lutheran Church, with burial at a later date.
Visitation is 12:30-2 p.m. Thursday at the church. The Kolden-Fenske Funeral Horne of Arlington is handling the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Fran of Arlington; sons, Dennis and wife Connie of Owatonna, and Doug and wife Mary Peik of Chaska; three grandchildren; one great granddaughter; brother-in-law, William Campion of Mitchelville, Iowa; sisters-inlaw, Alice Klabunde and Ruby Dettman of Hutchinson, Laura Olson of Kasson, and Florence Edgar of Hayfield; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Alvin Peik, a sister, Luella Campion, and a grandson, Justin Peik.
He was born Jan. 18, 1913, in Sumter Township, McLeod County, to Edward and Henriette (Schwartz) Peik. He was a graduate of the Brownton High School class of 1930. He then attended one year of business college, after which he worked in a general store in Brownton. He married Frances Carlson in 1941 in Brownton. He worked at the store from the early '30s until 1940 at which time he became the owner, and operated the store until 1950. In 1953, the family moved to Arlington where he worked for a time at the former Noack Hatchery and later at Green Isle Manufacturing Co. He retired in 1978. As a young businessman he was active in many community activities, was a member of the fire department and the baseball association commercial club. At Immanuel Lutheran Church, he was a chair member and also served as an usher.

Douglas Green, 61, of Redwood Falls, died on Saturday, Sept. 29, 200l, at his home.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls, with burial in the Redwood Falls Cemetery with military honors.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Nelson-Martin Funeral Service and one hour prior to the service at the church.
He is survived by brothers and sisters, Claude Green and his wife Marlene of Long Prairie, Sharon L. Zimmer of North Mankato, Gordon Green and his wife Barbara of Mankato, Annette "Netti" Roiger and husband Vernon of Springfield and Bonnie Lee Christensen and husband Paul of Redwood Falls; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was born May 5, 1940, in Redwood Falls to Roy and Eleanor (Baldwin) Green. He lived with his family in Redwood Falls and graduated from Redwood Falls High School. Douglas served in the U.S. Army from April 7, 1961 until March 23, 1964, part of that time in Germany. After returning from the service Douglas worked at Fingerhut in Mankato and later at A.C.O. Brickyard in Springfield. He had been a resident of Redwood Falls since 1968 and was currently employed by Activeaid. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran church.

Leonard H. Portner, 82, of Route 2, New Ulm, died on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, at his home.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, with burial in the Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation will be 4-9 p.m.Thursday and 7:30-10:30 a.m. Friday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will a combined rosary by the St. Joseph Catholic Aid Council and the Catholic Order of Foresters, St. John's Court 698 at 6:30 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m., both Thursday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Ron Kahle of New Ulm; sons and daughter-in-law, Marlin Portner, and Leon and Jane Portner, all of New Ulm; seven grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Raymond and Alice Portner, and George and Angie Portner all of New Ulm. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alice, on Oct. 11, 1982; and daughter-in-law, Carol Portner, on Dec. 1, 1988.
He was born Jan. 26, 1919, in New Ulm, to George and Annie(Klinkhammer) Portner. He attended District 6 Country School in Sigel Township, Brown County. He married Alice Stueber on Oct. 29, 1947, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. They farmed in Sigel Township, Brown County, and retired in the mid-1990's but continued to live on the farm. During the last three winters he lived at Sunset Apartments in New Ulm. He was well-known for his restoring antique tractors that he drove in many parades in the area.
He was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, the St. Joseph Catholic Aid Council, the St. John's Court 698 Catholic Order of Foresters, the German Bohemian Heritage Society, the Lost Dog and Fox Hunters Club, the Prairieland Flywheelers Two Cylinder Club, and a was member of various polka clubs around New Ulm.
