William Klutz, 94, of St. James, died Wednesday, April 17, 2002 at the Madelia Community Hospital.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. James, with burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery, St. James.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday and 8-11 a.m. Saturday at Pease Funeral Home, St. James and Saturday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by daughters, Vivian Panzer of Brainerd, Barbara Tetzloff of Lewisville, Karen Peterson of Hanska, and Debra Durheim of Eagle Bend; 15 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
He was born Jan. 25, 1908 in Buena Vista County, Iowa, to Ferdinand and Dena (Jacobs) Klutz.

Helene Vetter, 83, of New Ulm passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2002, at Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, April 22, at 11 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial to follow at the Catholic Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday from 4-8 p.m. with the Parish Prayer Service at 7 p.m., and Monday from 7:30-10:30 a.m. at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.
Helene was preceded in death by her parents, Adam and Beata Schmidt of Carrington, ND; her husband, Jacob A. Vetter Jr. of New Ulm in 1968; a brother, Michael Schmidt of Long Beach, CA; sisters, Leona Hertl of Carrington, ND; and Rose Sablovitch of Browerville, MN. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John and Maigread Vetter of New Ulm; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Richard Koch of New Ulm; grandsons, Michael Vetter, Adam Koch and Daniel Vetter, all of New Ulm; a brother, Peter Schmidt and his wife, Imogene, of Aberdeen, SD; sisters Minnie Reis of Longview, WA; Anne Allmaras of New Rockford, ND; and many nieces and nephews.
Helene Vetter was born on December 5,1918, to Adam and Beata (Paul) Schmidt in Heaton, ND. She graduated from high school in Carrington, ND, in 1936, and from the Trinity Hospital School of Nursing in Jamestown, ND, in 1940. She moved to New Ulm and married Jacob A. Vetter, Jr. on May 18, 1942, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Helene was a Registered Nurse at Loretto Hospital in New Ulm, and later served as the Supervisor of the St. Alexander Home. She worked on and off at the hospital and nursing home from 1940 until her retirement in December of 1980. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity Church, and the Council of Catholic Women.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the New Ulm Area Catholic Schools (NUACS).

Ralph E. Swantz, 84, Brainerd, died Thursday, April 18, 2002, at Woodland Good Samaritan Village.
He was born June 16, 1917, in Hendricks, to Paul A. and Elizabeth (Doran) Swantz. He married Georgianna Wolf June 9, 1940, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie. He was a professor at the Martin Luther College in New Ulm until his retirement. He was a member of the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Baxter where he had served as past President and as an Elder.
Survivors include his wife, Georgianna; three sons: Stephen Swantz of New Ulm, Ralph Swantz of Waterville, and Timothy Swantz of Hutchinson; two daughters: Paula Schultz of Farmington and Nadeen Lough of New Ulm; 14 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Howard Swantz of Paradise, Calif. He was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 22, 2002, at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Baxter, with Pastor Arthur Frenz officiating. Internment will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, New Ulm, Tuesday, April 23, at 1:45 p.m.
Friends may call from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, April 21, at Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home, Brainerd, and one hour before services Monday at the church.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 23, from noon until 1:30 p.m. at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in New Ulm.
Arrangements are with Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home, Brainerd.

Olive Colby, 94, of Hector, died on Thursday, April 18, 2002, at the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Hector, with burial in the Hector City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 9 - 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Arrangements with Hughes Funeral Home.
She is survived by sister Mabel Eggen of Minneapolis; and brother Chester Eggen of Minneapolis.
She was born Sept. 19, 1907, at Vienna, S.D., to James and Olga (Peterson) Eggen.

Frank W. Klement, 77, of 610 Birch Avenue in Gibbon died Thursday, April 18, 2002 at the St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Tuesday at the St. Willibrord's Catholic Church in Gibbon with burial in the church cemetery. Full graveside military honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the New Ulm Veterans Organizations.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 PM Monday and 7:30 - 10 AM Tuesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon. The St. Willibrord's Catholic Aid Council will pray the rosary at 6 PM and there will be a parish prayer service at 7 PM both Monday at the funeral home.
Frank is survived by his wife, Delores Klement of Gibbon; daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Andrew Portner of Winthrop, and Joyce and Keith Evenski of Cokato; a son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Jane Klement of Gibbon; grandchildren, Jason, Justin, Kyle, Jenna, Laura, Mandi, Megan and Chad; his mother-in-law, Irma Wager of New Ulm; a sister, Frieda Hoffmann of Mankato; a brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Dorothy Klement of New Ulm; brothers-in-law, Alois Schneider and Arnold Schweiss, both of New Ulm; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Carol and Robert Holm of New Ulm and Lane and John Osheeran of Tucson, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert Klement; and by sisters, Anne Fahrenkamp, Sister M. Arilda, Hilda Schweiss, Marie Mohr and Cecelia Schneider.
Frank was born September 28, 1924 in Moltke Township, Sibley County to Edward and Marie (Buechel) Klement. He served in the United States Army from 1944 - 1945 where he was stationed in Japan and was an honor guard for General Dwight Eisenhower. He married Delores Wager on June 17, 1952 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. After marriage they farmed in Moltke Township, Sibley County on the family farm until he retired in 1989. He continued to help his son farm until his death. He enjoyed woodworking, playing cards and being with his eight grandchildren. He was a member of the St. Willibrord's Catholic Church in Gibbon, the St. Willibrord's Catholic Aid Council and the Mankato American Legion Post #11.

Randy J. Nash, 42, of Brookings, S.D., died Tuesday, April 16, 2002, at Brookings Hospital.
Services are 2 p.m. today at First Lutheran Church in Brookings.
Visitation was 4-8 p.m. Saturday at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings.
He is survived by his wife Patti Nash of Brookings; sons Tyler and Tanner Nash of Brookings; brothers Rodney Nash of Vancouver, Wash., and Rick Brown of Portland, Ore.; and grandmother Irene Nash of New Prague.

Joel Vander Plaats, 37, of Gaylord died Friday, April 19, 2002, at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at United Church of Christ in Gaylord, with burial in Gaylord Municipal Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord.
He is survived by his mother, Harriet Vander Plaats of Pipestone; wife Paula Ann Vander Plaats of Gaylord; son Jared Vander Plaats of Gaylord; daughter Lindsay Vander Plaats of Gaylord; brothers Mike and Dan Vander Plaats, both of Pipestone; and sisters Vickey Anderson of Gaylord, Sue Brands of Edgerton; Barb Rensberger of Sioux City, Iowa, and Lori Anderson of Pipestone.

Phyllis Lewis, 62, of St. James, died Saturday, April 21, 2002, at St. James Health Services Hospital.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church in St. James, with burial in Sioux Valley Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. and 7:30-9 a.m.Tuesday at Sturm Funeral Home in St. James and continues one hour before the service at the church.
She is survived by her husband, David; sons, Gary of Pengilly, Terry of Chanhassen; and sister, Edna Rients of Lakefield.
She was born Nov. 22, 1939, in Round Lake to Louis and Emma (Koch) Voss.

Josephine A. Kleist, 90, of Arlington, died Saturday, April 20, 2002, at the Good Samaritan Center.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in Arlington, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Kolden Funeral Home in Arlington and continues one hour before service Tuesday at the church.
She is survived by son, Allen Kleist of Burnsville; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Grace Pinske of Gaylord.
She was born Jan. 5, 1912, in Dryden Township, Sibley County.

Gordon R. Hose, 82, of Sleepy Eye, died Saturday, April 20, 2002, at Sleepy Eye Care Center.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Union Congregational United Church of Christ in Sleepy Eye with burial in Home Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye and continues one hour before the service at the church.

Ella Bloomquist, 99, of Sleepy Eye, died Friday, April 5, 2002, at Good Samaritan Village in Mountain Lake.
Services are 2 p.m., Saturday at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye, with burial in Walker, Minn. at a later date
Visitation is 1-2 p.m. Saturday at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.
Ella was born Feb. 3, 1903, in Rosendale Township, rural St. James, Minn., to Christian T. and Elsa (Ovre) Christenson. She received her education in rural St. James where the family resided. She married Carl Bloomquist on November 28, 1922, at the Albion Parsonage. They lived in St. James and then moved to Walker where they operated Bud's Place resort on Leech Lake from 1941 until 1960. Carl preceded her in death on March 23, 1964. Ella's hobbies included cooking, seamstress, flower gardening, crafts and crocheting. She made many lovely things for friends and family, She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye.
Ella is survived by her sons, LeRoy "Bud" Bloomquist of Whipholt, Minn. and Frank Bloomquist of Brainerd, sisters; Inga Johnson of Madelia, Mabel Larrabee of Springfield, Donna and Carl Schultz of St. James, Inez Schildt of Woodstock, Illinois, brothers; Samuel and Marie Christenson of St. James, Lloyd and Helen Christenson of New Ulm, David and Gayle Christenson of Staples; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl; sisters; Olga Odegard, Clara Blackstad, Emma Odegard, Selma Bloomquist, Lavina Rice and brothers; Oliver, Clarence, Howard and Clifford.

Doris Lien-Wiborg, 60, of Winthrop, died Sunday, April 21, 2002, at the New Ulm Medical Center.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Firle Funeral Home in, New Ulm. Interment will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Cottage Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the services Thursday at the funeral home.
Doris Mae Jensen, the daughter of Alan and Eldora (Boer) Jensen, was born May 12, 1941, in Albert Lea where she spent her youth and attended school, graduating from Albert Lea High School in 1959. She was united in marriage to Gary Lien on March 26, 1960, in Minneapolis. They made their home in Minneapolis and Iowa for a time, before moving to Cottage Grove where they raised their family. She worked for the Cottage Grove school district and later as a realtor. Her husband died in October 1989. She continued to make her home in Cottage Grove where she worked for Kmart.
She married Kevin Wiborg on December 26, 1992 in Cottage Grove. They moved to Northfield where they lived until moving to Winthrop in 1995. She was a former member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Cottage Grove and St. John's Lutheran Church in Northfield.
Survivors include her husband Kevin of Winthrop; sons, Don Lien and his wife Susan of Huntington Beach, Calif., Paul Lien and his wife Angela of Humeston, Iowa, Mark Lien and his wife Joy of Pensicola, Fla.; stepdaughter, Jennifer Kellogg and her husband B.J. of Parker, Colo.; stepson, Douglas Wiborg of Glacier Lake, Colo.; son-in-law, Chad Shrum of Colorado Springs, Colo; nine grandchildren; mothers-in-law, Anne Lien of Albert Lea, Irene Wiborg of Winthrop; sister, Dorothy Olsen and her husband Dennis of Sebeka, Minn.; brothers-in-law, Duane Lien and his wife Joyce of Iowa Falls, Iowa, Dennis Lien and his wife Cheryl of Albert Lea, James Wiborg and his wife Cheryl of Richland, Wis., Lance Wiborg and his wife Pat of Gibbon, Bryce Wiborg and his wife Carol of New Ulm; sisters-in-law, Catherine Rengsdorf and her husband Dick of Lake Elmo, Lenore Herman and her husband Earl of Apple Valley, Darci Weber and her husband Dale of Mission Viejo, Calif., Kristi Edwards and her husband Tom of St. Augustine, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband Gary, she was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Patricia Shrum in 1999, and brother David Jensen.

Paul (Denny) Palamarchuck, 55, of 1623 Coles Chapel Road, Sparta, Tenn., died March 31, 2002, at his home, of cancer.
Services were held on April 6 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Sparta.
He is survived by his wife, the former Monica Karl; daughter Joanne; and son Christian.

Frances Wolff, 107, of Hector, died Sunday, April 21, 2002, at Renville County Hospital in Olivia.
Services are 10 a.m. Friday at Hector High School Old Gymnasium with burial in the city cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Hughes Funeral Home in Hector; and continues one hour before the services Friday at the church.

Gordon R. Hose, 82, of Sleepy Eye, formerly of St. James, died Saturday, April 20, 2002, at Sleepy Eye Care Center in Sleepy Eye.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Union Congregational Church, U.C.C. in Sleepy Eye, with burial in Home Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye and continues one hour before the service at the church.
Gordon was born on September 24, 1919, in Prairieville Township, Brown County, Minn., the son of Richard and Syrelda (Cossins) Hose. He attended rural school. After his schooling, he farmed with his father and brother, Raymond. He later worked on some area farms.
Gordon was a member of the Union Congregational U.C.C.
Gordon enjoyed being with his family, his nieces and nephews and friends. He enjoyed gardening, watching the crops grow and doing some woodworking. He also also enjoyed going to the Cossins Family Reunion each summer.
He is survived by his sisters, Evelyn Aukrust and Donna Mae Augustin, both of Sleepy Eye; brother-in-law, Raymond Olson of Comfrey; nieces; nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Caroline Olson and Elzina Christensen; brothers, Raymond Hose and Leonard Hose; sister-in-law, Verna Hose; brothers-in-law, Jens Christensen, Russell Augustin and Astor Aukrust.

Reanette Flygare, 83, of Adrian, died April 21, 2002, at Arnold Memorial Health Care Center in Adrian.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church in Winthrop with burial in the Bernadotte Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation is one hour before the service Wednesday at the church.
Arrangements are handled by Firle Funeral Home, New Ulm.
She is survived by sons, Ray Flygare of Victoria, Wayne Flygare of Rockford, Ill., Bruce Flygare of Worthington; brothers, Henry Nagel of Morristown, Russell Nagel of Buffalo; and sisters, Cecilia Thenemann of Baytown, Texas and Aleta More of Sleepy Eye; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was born May 6, 1918, in Lake Hanska Township, Brown County, Minnesota, to Wayne Nagel and Aletta Thordson.
