Jane M. Baumann, 80, of Wabasso, died Saturday, May 11 at St. John's Nursing Home in Springfield.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, at St. Anne's Church in Wabasso, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are by Nelson-Martin Funeral Service.
She is survived by a daughter, Judy Lohfink of Boyceville, Wis.; a son, Tom Baumann of New Ulm; 8 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and sisters, Lillian Dunne of New Hope, Helen Gores of Arlington, Marge Harrington of Farmington and Josephine Routhe of New Hope.
She was born Nov. 13, 1921, in Westline Township, Redwood County, to Joseph and Josephine (Wilt) Soupir.

Olivia Ganske, 93, of Los Angeles, Calif., and formerly of Sleepy Eye, died Monday, May 6, 2002, at her home in Los Angeles.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. today at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye with burial in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Sleepy Eye.
Visitation will be 9 - 10:30 a.m. today at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Olivia is survived by her daughter Sharon 'Lee Ann' Bower and her husband Fred of Van Nuys, Calif.; grandchildren, Athena Bower of Seattle, Wash., and Dean Bower and his wife Maria of Los Angeles, Calif.; a sister Rosella Schaefer and her husband James of Worthington; and a brother, Anthony Krzmarzick of Sleepy Eye.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Peter Ganske on Dec. 5, 1999; and by her brothers Melvin, Roman and Father Leo Krzmarzick.
Olivia was born April 26, 1909, in Home Township, Brown County, to Peter and Rosa (Hengel) Krzmarzick. She attended country school in Home Township, Brown County, and later attended the Mankato Business College in Mankato. On June 28, 1940, she married Peter Ganske in Los Angeles, Calif. After marriage they continued to live in the Los Angeles area where she worked for the Fox International Theatres for 10 years and then for the Farmers Insurance Company for 20 years. She was a member of the Cathedral Catholic Chapel in Los Angeles, and a past member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye.

Elsie E. Bielke, 96, of Winthrop, died Monday, May 13, 2002, at the Winthrop Good Samaritan Center.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 17, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Mountville, Dryden Township, Sibley County, with burial in the High Island Cemetery in New Auburn.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Thursday and 7:30 - 8 a.m. Friday at Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the time of services at the church on Friday.
She is survived by her sons, Marvin Bielke of Glencoe, and Maynard Bielke of New Aubrun; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Elsie Elizabeth (Henke) Bielke was born Dec. 23, 1905, in Penn Township, McLeod County, to August and Augusta (Voight) Henke.

Patricia Ruth Veigel, 72, of Outing, and formerly of New Ulm, died Saturday, May 11, 2002.
No services are being held. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
She is survived by her son Jeff Veigel of Andover; daughters, Desiree Peacock of Santa Margarita, Calif., and Jackie Olson of Otsego; sister Mary Ellen Willitt of Cape Canaveral, Fla.; and six grandchildren.
Patricia Ruth Veigel was born June 3, 1929, in Chaska, to Leo and Ellen (Meiborg) Yost.

Carl V. Bonderson, 46, of rural Winthrop, died Tuesday, May 14, 2002, at his home.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Saturday, May 18, at the Bernadotte Lutheran Church in Bernadotte Township, Nicollet County, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Friday and 7:30 - 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the time of services at the church on Saturday.
He is survived by his sons, Brett and Billy Bonderson or rural Hastings; daughter Alicia Bonderson of rural Hastings; sisters, Barbara Pettis of Bernadotte, and Betty Pomplun of Arlington; and brothers, John Bonderson of Winthrop, and Lyle Bonderson of Hutchinson.
Carl Verner Bonderson was born on Nov. 30, 1955, in Gaylord, to Arthur and MayBelle (Lind) Bonderson.

Nancy Morris, 62, of Mankato, formerly of New Ulm, died Tuesday, May 14, 2002, at the Oaklawn Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, with burial in the Woodland Hills Memorial Park.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Landkamer-Johnson-Boman Funeral Home in Mankato. Visitation will also continue one hour prior to service at the church on Saturday.
She is survived by her husband Larry Morris; son Jeffery Morris of Mankato; daughter Kelly Staloch of Port Lavaca, Texas; mother Esther Mammenga of New Ulm; brother Donald Mammenga of New Ulm; and seven grandchildren.
Nancy was born Sept. 11, 1939, in Lisbon, N.D., to Wilbert and Esther (Klein) Mammenga.

Scott D. Schroeder, 18, of Hancock will be held Friday, May 17, 2002 at 1 p.m., at the Hancock High School in Hancock. Reverend Gregg Bitter will officiate.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today with a Time of Remembrance at 7:30 at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to the services at the Hancock High School on Friday.
Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery, rural Hancock.
Scott Dennis Schroeder, son of Dennis and Karen (Evers) Schroeder, was born January 19, 1984, in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, where he was baptized at Grace Lutheran Church. In 1990 he moved with his family to Hancock, and was later confirmed at Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Morris. Scott received his education in Hancock, and would have graduated with the Hancock High School Class of 2002 on Friday, May 17, 2002.
Scott enjoyed golfing, snowmobiling and slalom water skiing. He was also very mechanically inclined, and could take apart and fix almost anything he touched. Most of all, Scott loved spending time with his family and friends.
Scott passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2002 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Hancock. He had lived to reach the age of 18 years.
He is survived by his parents: Dennis and Karen Schroeder of Hancock; three brothers: Ryan Schroeder of Hancock, Dusty (Kim) Schroeder of Willmar and Cory Schroeder of Hancock; grandparents: Claus Evers of Sleepy Eye and Marcella Schroeder of Fairfax, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Mildred Evers and LeRoy Schroeder.
Serving as pallbearers for the service are Matthew Evers, Steven Schroeder, Corey Bedel, Daniel Evers, Jeremy Brown and Wade Bemmels. Serving as honorary pallbearers for the service are the HHS Class of 2002 and the faculty and staff of the Hancock High School. Phyllis Joos will serve as pianist for the service with Maurine Nelson serving as soloist.
Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.

Joseph F. Schueller, 55, of Brainerd, and formerly of Sleepy Eye, died Monday, May 13, 2002, at his home in Brainerd.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, May 17, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, with burial at a later date in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Sleepy Eye.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday at the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. A parish prayer service will be held 6:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn Schueller of Brainerd; sisters, Marie and husband William R. Weber of Chanhassen, Elaine and husband Patrick Berdan of Burnsville, and Deb and husband Doug Brandl of Sleepy Eye; and brother John and wife Gwen Schueller of Sleepy Eye. Joe is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and and infant brother Robert in 1949.
Joe was born July 28, 1946, the son of E.A. "Tony" and Leona (Seidl) Schueller. He grew up in Sleepy Eye, graduating from St. Mary's High School in 1964. He attended Mankato State University. After graduating he worked road construction for Minnesota Valley Construction in Granite Falls. He also worked at Arneson Distributing in Sleepy Eye for couple of years. Joe married Carolyn Davis on July 6, 1974, in Deerwood. On Aug. 27, 1976, Joe went to work with the Minnesota State Patrol. He served in the St. Paul, St. Cloud, Mankato, Virginia and Brainerd Districts. He retired on July 31, 2001, after 25 years of service; the last 11 years as captain of the Brainerd District. Joe enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, auto racing, pontooning, snowmobiling, German music and spending time with his family and friends.
Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.

Larry R. Anthony, 65, of Norseland, died Wednesday, May 15, 2002, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 19, at Norseland Lutheran Church in Norseland with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Saturday at St. Peter Funeral Service Klein Chapel and continues one hour before the service Sunday at the church.
He is survived by wife Dorothy of Norseland; sons, Lorry of Norseland, Tracy of Nicollet; two grandsons; sisters, Joy Struck of St. Peter and Sally Taylor of Ames, Iowa.
He was born Sept. 7, 1936, in Mankato to Raymond and Marion (Dranttel) Anthony.

Rose A. Howk, 78, of Glencoe, died Wednesday, May 15, 2002, at her home.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at the Apostolic Christian Church in Winthrop, with burial in the Winthrop Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at the Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe.
She is survived by her husband Roy Howk of Glencoe; sons, Kenneth Howk of New Ulm, Steven Howk of Surprise, Ariz., and Keith Howk of Monument, Colo.; daughters, Sharon Christensen of Glencoe, Iris Hay of Revillo, S.D., Karen Smith of Mendota Heights, and Colleen Waugh of Waseca; brothers, Roland Messner, Leo Messner and Marlyn Messner; sisters, Deloris Messerli and Elaine Rettig; 19 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Rose Alice Howk was born Feb. 9, 1924, in Cornish Township, Sibley County, to Joseph and Marguerite (Clemens) Messner.

Leone Lonien, 96, of Chehalis, Wash., and formerly of New Ulm, died Sunday, May 12, 2002, in Centralia, Wash.
Arrangements are with the Brown Mortuary in Chehalis. Burial will be at a later date in the St. Lawrence Cemetery in Faribault.
She is survived by her daughters, Linnie Faina of Woodland, Calif., and Arlene Gardner of Chehalis, Wash.; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Leone Beatrice Lonien was born June 11, 1905, in Columbus Junction, Iowa, to Abner and Linnie (Dawson) Ferguson.

James W. Neuwirth, 79, of Oregon City, Ore., and formerly of New Ulm, died Tuesday, May 14, 2002, at his home.
Memorial services are planned for this summer at Lake View Cemetery in Brighton Township, Nicollet County.
He is survived by his wife Colleen R. Neuwirth (Milliman); son Richard J. Neuwirth of Minneapolis; daughters, Patty Neuwirth of Hood River, Ore.; Eugenie Neuwirth of Minneapolis, and Barbara Webb of Camas, Wash.; sisters, Bonnie Orme of Calif., and Betty Nuewirth of Ariz.; and four grandchildren.
James W. Neuwirth was born Dec. 29, 1922, in New Ulm, to Henry and Laura Neuwirth. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II and was awarded a service medal by Russia.

Phyllis Laven, 74, formerly of rural Mankato died Thursday, May 16, 2002 at the Oak Terrace Assisted Living in North Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the St. Paul's Catholic Church in Nicollet with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 9-11 am Saturday at the St. Paul's Catholic Church in Nicollet. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Nicollet is in charge of the arrangements.
Phyllis is survived by her daughters, Sandry Herrlich of Rochester, and Jane Emich of Nicollet; a son, David Laven of rural Mankato; 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; sisters, Lois Winkler of St. Paul, and Shirley Rodemyer of Hampton, Iowa.
Phyllis was born on December 25, 1927 in Mankato to Herman and Mary (Biedscheid) Struss.

Melvin R. Loverude, 87 of Amboy, died Thursday, May 16, 2002 at United Hospital in Blue Earth.
Services will be 1 p.m.., Monday, May 20, at Jackson Lake Lutheran Church in Amboy, with burial at Vernon Center Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Spencer-Owen Funeral Home in Winnebago, and one hour prior to the services at the church.
Memorials may be directed to the Jackson Lake Lutheran Church, American Cancer Society, or donor's choice.
He is survived by sisters: Goldie Wolverton of Tooele, Utah, Ilah Hubbard of Edina, Mildred St. Dennis of Post Falls, Idaho, DeLoris Peters of Brooklyn Center, Ordella Hamilton of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Violet Sell of Sauk Rapids; and a brother, Lester Loverude of Fairfax; a special friend, Anita Bonnett, and other family members, Rhonda Loverude, Jan Erickson and sons, Mike, Dave and Jeff, along with many nieces and nephews.
Melvin was born on May 1, 1915 in Baronett, Wis., to Ingvald and Christine (Erickson) Loverud. He owned and operated Mel's Buick Agency in Amboy for over 40 years. He was an active member of the Amboy Lions Club and a 50-plus year member of the Amboy American Legion. He was active in many service clubs and community organizations in Amboy over the years.

Helen Peterson, 79, of Winthrop, died Friday, May 17, 2002 at the Winthrop Good Samaritan Center.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, May 20 at Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel, Winthrop with burial in the Winthrop Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by daughters Teresa of Albuquerque, N.M. and Susan Barfknecht of Winthrop; four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
She was born May 17, 1923 in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Hugh and Loretta McGivney.

Billy R. "Bill" Williams, 79, of Morton, died Thursday, May 16, 2002, at his residence in the Lower Sioux Community.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, May 20, at the Nelson-Martin Funeral Service in Redwood Falls, with burial in St. Cornelia's Episcopal Cemetery, Lower Sioux Community.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 8:30 a.m. Monday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Maude, of Morton; a daughter, Shelly Williams of Morton; five grandchildren; and sisters, Carolyn Walker of Camden, Ark., Norma Lee McCellan of Fordyce, Ark.
He was born June 26, 1922, in Carthage, Ark., to John and Carrie (Taylor) Williams. He served in the U.S. Naval Air Corps from 1940 to 1946.
