Avenell M. Boelke, 87, of Walnut Grove, died Wednesday, May 29, 2002 at Tracy Hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at English Lutheran Church, Walnut Grove, with burial in Brookville Dannebod Cemetery, rural Sleepy Eye.
Visitation will be 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 1, at the church in Walnut Grove. Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield is handling arrangements.
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence Boelke of Walnut Grove; a son, Jim and wife Konnie Jensen of New Ulm; daughters, Marcia and David Wilson of Bloomington, and Mona Conway of Littleton, Colo.; a step daughter, Mary Lou and Milo Meling of Las Vegas, Nev.; a son-in-law Lyle Johnson of New Ulm; 14 grandchildren; one step grandchild; 15 great grandchildren; a sister Adeline Flaig of Alexandria; and a brother, Norbert (Butch) Berberich of Robbinsdale. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Jim Jensen in 1973; a daughter, Mary Mirth Johnson in 1993; a son-in-law, William Conway in 1999; and a sister, Mary Ann Maurer.
Avenell was born June 27, 1914 to Francis J. and Margaretha (Stitz) Berberich in Springfield. She attended Springfield Public School and graduated as class valedictorian in 1931. Avenell worked as a legal secretary for Albert Loomis for five years and on Aug. 10, 1936 she married Jens C. (Jim) Jensen at Brookville Lutheran Church in Brookville Township. The couple farmed near Morgan in Brookville Township. Avenell worked at the Springfield Community Hospital for 19 years from 1959-1978. Jim died on Dec. 11, 1973. On April 15, 1978 she married Lawrence Boelke at English Lutheran Church in Walnut Grove. Avenell was a former member of Brookville Lutheran Church, and St. Matthews Lutheran Church at Evan, a current member of English Lutheran Church in Walnut Grove, and the Alpha Circle. She loved reading, dancing cooking, baking, card playing, and ice skating. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.

Elizabeth "Betty" Johnson, 69, of Arlington, died Friday, May 31, 2002 at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital, Mankato.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 3, 2002 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Gaylord with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Kolden Funeral Home, Arlington and Monday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by her husband, Floyd of Arlington; a son, Marty Borchardt of Corcoran; daughters Janice Paulson of O'Fallen, Mo., Jill Hartman of Savage, and Barbara Karschnik of Mountain Lake; stepchildren, Loren Johnson of Plato, Carlin Johnson of Essex, Steven Johnson of Buffalo and Sheila Studemann of Glencoe; 7 grandchildren; 8 step grandchildren; one great granddaughter; sisters and brothers, Lawrence Kleinow of Neoshow,Mo., Edna Curry of Taylors Falls, Raymond Kleinow of Burnsville, Phyllis Roehl of St. Cloud and Richard Kleinow of North Oaks.
She was born July 26, 1932, in Cottonwood County near Comfrey to Albert and Elise (Junker) Kleinow.

John L. Olson, 79, formerly of Madelia, died Friday, May 31, 2002 at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Mankato.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Butternut, with burial in the Butternut Valley Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday at Pilgrim Funeral Home, Madelia, and at the church Tuesday one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by his wife Lorraine; sons, Jerold of Mankato and Larry of Madelia; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and brothers, Oscar Jr. and Myron, both of Madelia.
He was born June 17, 1922, in rural Madelia to Oscar and Mathilda (Mikkelson) Olson.

Sophie M. Kuck, 92, of 901 S. Minnesota Street in New Ulm died Saturday, June 1, 2002 at the New Ulm Medical Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm with burial in the Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
She is survived by a daughter, Rosemary Bublitz of Woodland Hills, Calif.; son, John A. Kuck of rural New Ulm; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was born June 29, 1902, in New Ulm to Albert and Rose (Wiltscheck) Groebner.

Anna C. Koestler, 90, of Eau Claire, Wis., formerly of Fairmont, died Friday, May 31, 2002. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday June 3, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fairmont with burial in Fairview Memorial Park in Fairmont.
She died Friday, May 31, 2002, at the Syverson Nursing Home in Eau Claire, Wis.
Visitation will be from 9.30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
Arrangements are handled by Lakeview Funeral Home, Fairmont.
Anna Caroline Wrede was born Nov. 16, 1911, in Charleston, Okla., the daughter of Henry and Hannah Janssen Wrede. On June 16, 1912, she moved with her family to Cushing, Okla., and on June 12, 1921 they moved to a farm in Antrim Township, northeast of Truman, Minn. They moved to Garner, Iowa, on May 3, 1925, where Anna graduated from Garner High School in 1930. She was united in marriage to Arnold Koestler on Nov. 18, 1936, at Garner, Iowa. Anna and Arnold lived in Burt and Ft. Dodge, Iowa, and Manitowac, Wis., prior to moving to Fairmont in 1943. They moved to Dodge Center, Minn., in 1956 and Owatonna, Minn., in 1959, returning to Fairmont in 1962. Anna was a licensed x-ray technician and also taught piano for many years. Arnold passed away in February of 1991. Anna was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fairmont and spent over 13 years researching and putting together the histories of her and her husband's families.
Survivors include four sons, Kerry Koestler and his wife, Shirley, of Dodge Center, Minn., Arlen Koestler and his wife, Karen, of New Ulm, Martin Koestler of Preston, Philip Koestler and his wife, Judith, of Eau Claire, Wis.; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one brother, Harold Wrede and his wife, Ruth of California: other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother, Enos Wrede.

Gordon J. Joramo, 75, of Madelia, and formerly of Hanska, died Saturday, June 1, 2002, at Luther Memorial Home in Madelia.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at Lake Hanska Lutheran Church in rural Hanska, with burial in the Church Cemetery, with military honors by the New Ulm veterans organization.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday and 8-11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Firle Funeral Home in Hanska, and will continue one hour prior to service at the church on Wednesday.
Arrangements are with the Firle Funeral Home in Hanska.
He is survived by his brother Claire Joramo of Hanska; and sisters, Gladys Kjelshus of Madelia, and Stella Pizel of Madelia.
Gordon J. Joramo was born April 16, 1927, to Carl and Stina (Ahlness) Joramo in Lake Hanska Township.
He served from 1946 - 1948 in the U.S. Army.

Sally Peters, 75, of New Ulm, died Sunday, June 2, 2002, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield, with burial in the St. Raphael's Catholic Cemetery in Springfield. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30 - 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield. There will be a Parish Prayer service 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Sturm Funeral Home and a CCW Rosary at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Raphael's Catholic Church.
Sally was born to Joseph and Mary (Wenisch) Turbes in Springfield, on June 1, 1927. She attended county school and St. Raphael's Catholic School. Sally moved to Mankato after living in Sleepy Eye. She worked at a drug store and then El Seis Restaurant for a number of years in Mankato. She moved briefly to Le Sueur, and then made her home in New Ulm, where she worked at the New Ulm Country Club. She worked at the Lamplighter for the past 19 years. She was a member of the Catholic Aid Association. She enjoyed attending Indian Pow Wows with her friend Carie, reading, country music, baking, crafts, collecting music boxes, gadgets and working at the Lamplighter. She also enjoyed special weekends with Adam, visiting with family and friends and life itself. Sally became a resident at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield on Tuesday, May 28, 2002.
She is survived by her three sisters, Ag and husband Wilbert Riederer of Bird Island, Christine Nelson of Sleepy Eye, and Eleanor Veenstra of Bellingham, Wash.; three brothers, Arnold and wife Dorothy Turbes of Springfield, Lawrence and wife Darlene Turbes of Springfield, and LeRoy and wife Charlotte Turbes of Kandiyohi; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Marie and Cecelia; and four brothers, John, Albert, Peter and Bernard.

Arnold Victor Johnson, 74, of rural Nicollet, died Sunday, June 2, 2002, at St. Peter Community Hospital
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, at Scandian Grove Lutheran Church in rural St. Peter, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Mankato Mortuary and one hour before the service Wednesday at the church.

Chrys Ann Baarts, 46, of Vernon Center, died Sunday, June 2, 2002, at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Lake Crystal Mortuary and one hour before services at the church on Wednesday.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, at St Peter's Lutheran Church in Vernon Center.
She is survived by her husband, H. Calvin Baarts of Vernon Center; sons Eric and Adam; parents Richard and Bobbie Stimpert of Simi Valley, Calif.; brothers Scott Stimpert and wife Theresa Stone of Amherst, N.H., Daniel Stimpert of Los Angeles.
She was born on Feb. 27, 1956, in Sleepy Eye, to Richard R. and Bobbie J. (Siedl) Stimpert.

Eveline 'Peggy' Cunningham, 79, of Sleepy Eye, formerly of New Ulm, died Saturday, June 1, 2002, at the Sleepy Eye Care Center.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 7, at the New Ulm City Cemetery.
Firle Funeral Home of New Ulm is handling the arrangements.
Eveline Marie Bomberbeck, the daughter of Joseph and Hazel Bomberbeck, was born Nov. 11, 1922, in Alberta, Canada, As a child, she moved with her family to St. Paul, where she graduated from South St. Paul High School, She moved to California where she worked in a shipyard during World War II. She returned to Minnesota after the war. She was united in marriage to Jay Cunningham on Jan., 12, 1946 in St. Paul. They made their home in Two Harbors and moved to New Ulm in 1963. Her husband died June 20, 2000. She was a friend of the United Church of Christ in New Ulm
She is survived by her son KC Cunningham of San Diego, Calif.; sister-in-law, Joyce Callisto of St. Louis; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son Gary Cunningham in 1972.

Albert Dauer, 62, of Mapleton and formerly of Tracy, died Sunday, June 2, 2002, at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, in Lamberton, with burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Lamberton.
Visitation is 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Sturm Funeral Home, Lamberton, is handling arrangements.
Albert was born Nov. 22, 1939, to Julius and Florence (Roberts) Dauer in New Ulm, Minn. He attended school in New Ulm. At age 17, he joined the United States Army and was honorably discharged after four years of service. He then worked in construction for several years before moving to Tracy, Minn. While living in Tracy, Albert commuted to Marshall where he worked at M.C.P. plant for 14 years. He enjoyed working with animals and operated a small game farm.
Albert is survived by his four children, daughter, Kim Hansen and fiance James Raimann of Minnesota Lake, Minn., sons, Tony and wife Susan of St. Clair, Minn., Todd and wife Heidi of Mankato, Minn., and Tom and wife Amy of Chesapeake, Va.; grandchildren, Kyren and Alainee Hansen, Paige Dauer, Talia and Savannah Dauer and T.J and Austin Dauer; and siblings Gloria Peterson, Mike Dauer, Philip Dauer, Dennis Dauer, Jerry Dauer, Jeannette Guhlke and Betty Klinkner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Florence Dauer.

Linda Ehrenberg, 89, of Arlington, died Saturday, June 1, 2002, at her home.
Memorial services are 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 6, at Peace Lutheran Church in Arlington.
Family and friends will gather one hour before the service at the church.
Kolden Funeral Home of Arlington is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by daughters, Adele Suttles of Glencoe and Audrey Beckmann of Arlington; brother Fredrick Proehl of Glencoe; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
She was born on Oct. 2, 1912, to Fred and Emma (Von Berge) Proehl in rural Glencoe.

Agnes Fromm, 86, of Sleepy Eye, MN., died Saturday, June 1, 2002, at Sleepy Eye Hospital.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 6, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30-9:30 a.m. Thursday at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye. There will be a Christian Mothers rosary at 4 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Agnes was born Jan. 27,1916, in Mulligan Township, Brown County, Minn., to Joseph and Otilia (Hickel) Neid. She grew up on a farm near Comfrey and attended St. Paul's Catholic School in Comfrey. On July 6, 1938, she married John Fromm and together they raised 13 children. The couple farmed in Prairieville Township for many years. John preceded Agnes in death in 1964. Agnes moved into Sleepy Eye in 1976 where she was active in a number of activities. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where she was involved in the quilting group as well as the Christian Mothers. She also served as the secretary of the Catholic Aid Association for many years. She loved to travel and quilt, but mostly she loved spending time with her family and friends.
Agnes is survived by her children, Ervin and wife Dignora of Sioux Falls, S.D., Ed and wife Kathy of Sleepy Eye, David and wife Janis of Eagle Lake, Clete and wife Dawn of Owatonna, Michael and wife Gail of Claremont, Mark and wife Rolene of Mankato, Joel and wife Lois of New Ulm, Rose Fromm of Sleepy Eye, Doris and husband Leo Csukker of Fairfax, Carol and husband Michael Whitney of Mankato; daughter-in-law, Rosie Fromm of Sleepy Eye; three brothers, Bernard Neid of St. James, Alois Neid of Glencoe and Joe and wife Joyce Neid of Sleepy Eye; sister, Marie and Tom Kelly of Frankenmuth, Mich. Agnes is also survived by 33 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; two brothers, Norbert and Roman; daughter-in-law, Judy in 1971; daughter, Joanne in 1972; son, Jerome in 1991; great-grandson, Matthew in 2001 and son, Eugene in December of 2001.

Kenneth Hagevold, 51, of Bemidji, formerly of Fairfax, died Sunday, June 2, 2002 at North Country Regional Hospital, Bemidji.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 6, at Central Lutheran Church, Camp Township, Renville County, Minnesota. Burial will be in Hauges Cemetery with full military rites by the Fairfax Honor Guard.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30-11 a.m. Thursday at Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel, Fairfax and Thursday at the church, one hour prior to the service.

Arnold Johnson, 74, of Nicollet, died Sunday, June 2, 2002, at St. Peter Community Hospital.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, at Scandian Grove Lutheran Church in Norseland, rural St. Peter. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Mankato Mortuary and continues one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday.
He is survived by his wife, Mae Johnson; sons, Neal Johnson of rural Nicollet, Alex Johnson of rural Nicollet; daughter, Rita Gibbs of St. Peter; five grandchildren; and brother, Clarence Johnson of North Mankato.
He was born June 17, 1927, in Mankato to Fred O. and Della Penelope (Hanson) Johnson.

Robert E. Meyer, 78, of Springfield, died Sunday, June 2, 2002, at St. John Lutheran Home.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, at Zion Lutheran Church, Springfield with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-11:30 a.m. Wednesday, at Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield, and one hour before services Wednesday at the church.
He is survived by a son, Al of Courtland; daughters, Debi of Morgan and Janet of Mankato; sisters, Lenora Schleusner of Olivia, Lillian Schweim of Springfield and Dorothy Tonak of Morgan; and a brother, Eugene of Red Lake Falls.
He was born March 9, 1924, in Sundown Township, Redwood County, to August and Bertha (Schultz) Meyer.
