Kenneth 'Scoop' Hagevold, 51, of Bemidji, and formerly of Fairfax, died Sunday, June 2, 2002, at North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 6, at Central Lutheran Church in Camp Township, Renville County, with burial in the Hauges Cemetery with full military rites by the Fairfax Honor Guard.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30 - 11 a.m. Thursday at the Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the time of services at the church on Thursday.
He is survived by his sons, Travis Bowers of Shreveport, La., and Wade Hagevold of Winthrop; daughter Tanya Sellner of Baldwin, Wis.; two grandchildren; mother Eldora Hagevold of Fairfax; and sister Sandy Kokesch of Stewart.
Kenneth Wayne Hagevold was born Aug. 13, 1950, in Devils Lake, N.D., to Orlo and Eldora (Kirkeby) Hagevold.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War from 1968 - 1974.

Frances Johnson, 92, of Sleepy Eye, died June 3, 2002, at Sleepy Eye Hospital.
Services are 11.m. Thursday, June 6, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye, with burial in Minnesota Lake Cemetery, Minnesota Lake, Minn.
Visitation is 9:30-11 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Arrangements are handled by Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye.
She is survived by daughters, Marilyn Stall of Litchfield, Donna Rae Sonnek of Easton; sister, Viola Kelly of Escondido, Calif. four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was born May 17, 1910, in Verona, Penn., to George and Mary (Baldwin) Carter.

Sadie Jo Nelson, 14, of St. James, died June 3, 2002, at Madelia Community Hospital.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday, June 7, at First Presbyterian Church, St. James, with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-9 p.m. Thursday, June 6; 7:30 to noon Friday at Sturm Funeral Home, St. James and continues one hour before the service Friday at the church.
She is survived by parents, Craig and Kimberly Nelson; brother, David; grandparents; Howard and Elaine Nelson of St. James; James and Lee Etta Lastine of St. James; great-grandmother, Ella Zempel of St. James; great-grandfather, Gordon Lastine of Lake City; and great-grandmother, Jose Heppner of St. James.
She was born Dec. 25, 1987, in St. James, to Craig and Kim (Lastine) Nelson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ronald McDonald House of the Twin Cities, Relay for Life or the American Cancer Society.

Verna I. Olson, 89, of Redwood Falls, died Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at the Sunwood Good Samaritan Center in Redwood Falls.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 7, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls, with burial in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Montevideo.
Visitation will be 5 - 7 p.m. Thursday at the Nelson-Martin Funeral Home in Redwood Falls.
She is survived by her son Paul Olson of Mankato; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Verna I. Olson was born Sept. 12, 1912, in Montevideo, to Louis and Evinda Rear.

Charlene M. Reilein, 58, of Winsted, died on Sunday, June 2, 2002, at Glencoe Regional Health Services.
She was born on Dec. 21, 1943, in Springfield, the daughter of Lellis J. and Eileen C. Platz Fiedler.
Charlene graduated from Sanborn High School in 1961, and later attended Beauty School in Mankato.
On Nov. 11, 1967, Charlene M. Fiedler and Leonard G. Reilein were joined in holy marriage in St. Thomas Catholic Church in Sanborn.
Charlene formerly worked as a receptionist at Supreme Feed in Howard Lake.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted, and also belonged to American Legion Post No. 407 Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband Leonard G. Reilein of Winsted; sisters, Annette (Dan) Schilling of Long Prairie, and Sharon (Scott) Schultz of Lamberton; a brother, Allan Fiedler of Big Timber, Mont.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Art (Alice) Reilein of Litchfield, Lorraine (Ray) Gordon of Arizona and William (Bette) Reilein of Cedar Mills; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lellis and Eileen Fiedler; a brother, Kevin Fiedler; father-in-law and mother-in-law Art and Theresa Reilein; and by brothers-in-law: Clarence, Lloyd and Ray Reilein.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Charlene Reilein will be held 10:30 a.m. today at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. Father Paul L. Wolf will be the celebrant and interment follows at 3:30 p.m. at St. Raphael's Cemetery in Springfield.
Visitation will be 9 - 10 a.m. today at Chilson Funeral Home, Winsted.
Keith Reilein, Kurt Reilein, James Reilein, Chad Fiedler, Bryan Schultz, Matt Westerman, Michael Reilein and Chad Maynard will serve as casket bearers.

Martha Rolloff, 94, of St. Croix Falls, Wis., formerly of New Ulm, died Monday, June 3, 2002, at the St. Croix Valley Good Samaritan Center in St. Croix Falls, Wis.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm, with burial in the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Thursday. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is in charge of the arrangements.
Martha is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Grace and Ron Montgomery of Turtle Lake, Wis., and Claire and Donald Johnson of Phoenix, Ariz.; a son and daughter-in-law Anthony and Carolyn Rolloff of Frederick, Wis.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Rachael Evans of New York. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Alvin A. Rolloff on Jan. 8, 1990; brothers, Charles, Julien and Henry Jacobson; and by sisters, Olga Brinkmann and Helen Olmanson.
Martha was born on March 8, 1908, in Franklin, to Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Jacobson. She graduated from the Franklin High School in 1926, and then attended the Fairview School of Nursing, graduating as a registered nurse in 1930. On Nov. 1, 1936, she married Alvin A. Rolloff at the Camp Lutheran Church in Renville County. Her husband was an appliance salesman with Wilfahrt Brothers in New Ulm for many years. She was employed as a registered nurse for many years in New Ulm and the surrounding area. She was a member of the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. She had been a resident of the St. Croix Valley Good Samaritan Center for the past fourteen years.

Dorothy M. Schenk, 79, of Springfield, died June 3, 2002, at St. John Lutheran Home.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday, June 7, at Zion Lutheran Church, Springfield, with burial in Springfield City Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Thursday and 7:30 to noon at Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield and continues one hour before services at the church.
She is survived by husband, Walter (Butch) Schenk of Springfield; daughter, Jean Kitzmann of Sioux City, Iowa; son, John Schenk of St. Cloud; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brothers, Ward Balbach of Kasota, and Lynn Balbach of Springfield.
She was born May 7, 1923, in Stately Township, Brown County, to George and Lillie (Potter) Balbach.

Marcia Lee Templin, 60, of Arlington, died Tuesday, June 4, 2002 at her home.
She is survived by her husband, Chester of Arlington; daughter, RaNaye (Ross) Grunzke of St. Peter; two granddaughters; mother, Erna Grewe of Winsted; brother, Virgil Grewe of Burnsville.
Services are 10 a.m. Friday, June 7, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Kolden Funeral Home in Arlington and one hour prior to service at the church on Friday.
She was born on July 16,1941 in Finlayson, Minn., to Albin and Erna (Moeller) Grewe.

Cecil Willock, 75, of St. James, died Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at Luther Memorial Home in Madelia.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 7, at First Lutheran Church in St. James, with burial in Memorial Cemetery in Mason City, Iowa.
Visitation will be 8 - 11 a.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church, St. James.
Arrangements are handled by Sturm Funeral Home, St. James.
She is survived by her sons, Clyde Tarrence of Sioux Falls, S.D., and David Tarrence of French Lick, Ind.; daughters, Dorothy Jahnke of Burt, Iowa, Verla Wegener of Ringsted, Iowa, and Janice Bettin of Swea City, Iowa; and 10 grandchildren.
Cecil Jean Willock was born Oct. 28, 1926, to Charles and Minnie Opkis in Mason City, Iowa.

Marie Bode, of 1208 3rd North Street in New Ulm, died Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at the Gil-Mor Manor in Morgan.
Private family burial will take place on Friday at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in rural Courtland. There will be a public memorial service at 11 a.m. on Friday at the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. Following the memorial service on Friday the family will receive relatives and friends in conjunction with the funeral luncheon at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church Parish Hall in New Ulm.
Arrangements are being handled by the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.
Marie is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Flora Cole, a resident of the Gil Mor Manor in Morgan, and her husband Wayne of Cibecue, Ariz., and Carol and Rick Harkins of Hamilton, Ind.; sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald and Linda Bode of Mapleton, Nathan and Cheryl Bode of Courtland, Reverend Paul and Sue Bode of Henning, Reverend Arthur and Jode Bode of Shelby, Mich., Mark Bode of New Ulm, Edward and Vicky Bode of New Ulm, and Martin and Deb Bode of Morgan; 26 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Margaret and Oscar Lindemann of Manitowac, Wis., and Doris Picha of LaCrosse, Wis.; and by brothers and sister-in-law, Roland Gurgel of Mankato, and Ernie and Esther Gurgel of Sparta, Wis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Wilmer H. Bode on Nov. 30, 1998; and brothers, Herman and Karl Gurgel.
Marie was born May 30, 1924, in Milwaukee, Wis., to Herman and Flora (Pohl) Gurgel. She attended grade school in Wonewoc, Wis., and graduated from the Wonewoc High School in Wonewoc, Wis. She then attended and graduated from the teachers college at Dr. Martin Luther College (DMLC) in New Ulm. After graduation from college she taught school in Hortonville, Wis. On Aug. 28, 1945, she married Wilmer H. Bode in Wonewoc, Wis. After marriage they farmed her husband's family farm in Courtland Township, Nicollet County, for 30 years. In 1979, they moved into New Ulm. Marie had worked at various places around the New Ulm, Courtland and St. Peter areas, including the Kaiserhoff, the Holiday House, New Ulm Furniture, Lindy's Collection, and H & R Block. She was an active member for many years at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Courtland, being involved in Evangelism and the church choir. In 1999, she continued her church activity when she became a member of the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm.

Walter Bushard, 86, of 816 6th North in New Ulm, died Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at the Abbott - Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, with burial in the Catholic Cemetery in Gibbon.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Friday and from 7:30 - 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. The Knights of Columbus and the St. Joseph's Catholic Aid Council will pray a combined rosary at 6:30 p.m. and there will also be a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m., both Friday evening at the funeral home.
Walter is survived by his wife Violet Bushard of New Ulm; daughters, Mary Margaret Johnson of St. Peter, Jolene Galles of New Ulm, and Grace Bushard and her husband Tim Mac Donell of St. Paul; a son, Richard Bushard of New Ulm; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; stepdaughter Jean Herbeck of New Ulm; stepsons, Steven Herbeck and his wife Lou Ann of Mankato, and David Herbeck and his wife Deb of Maple Grove; sisters, Irene Berg of New Ulm, Jeanette Domeier and her husband LeRoy of New Ulm, and Gertie Klaras of Webster; a brother, Edward Bushard and his wife Lorraine of New Ulm.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Caroline Bushard in 1964; a son in infancy; sisters, Arline Kaufmann and Florella Smasal; and a brother, Stanley Bushard.
He was born on July 20, 1915, in West Newton Township, Nicollet County, to Joseph and Angelica (Seifert) Bushard. He married Caroline Zollner on Sept. 28, 1939, in Fairfax, and after her death he married Violet Herbeck on Nov. 24, 1978, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. He had farmed in rural Fairfax and later in rural Gibbon. He then owned and operated Valley Cleaning Service in New Ulm. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, the Knights of Columbus St. Patrick's Council # 1076, and the St. Joseph's Catholic Aid Council.

Denese Wayne, 71, of 814 1/2 N. Jefferson St. in New Ulm, died Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at her home.
Visitation will be 9 - 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.
Private family service will be 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with burial in the New Ulm City Cemetery.
She is survived by her daughter Penny Wayne of New Ulm; sons, William Vikter and Michael Wayne, both of Mankato; four grandchildren; sisters, Elizabeth, Susan and Nancy; and a brother, Cyril.
She was born July 10, 1930, in Blissfield, Mich., to Mr. and Mrs. Victor DeSeranno.

Alice 'Irene' Huelskamp, 99, of Plains, Montana, and formerly of New Ulm, died March 3, 2002
at the Clark Fork Valley Nursing Home in Plains, Mont. There will be a graveside service on Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at 11 a.m. at the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is handling the arrangements.
She is survived by her daughters, Rhoda Munsch of Paradise, Mont., and Susan Flory of Plains, Montana; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Arthur Benson of Bismarck, N.D.
She was born Aug. 31, 1902, in Monroe, S.D., to Anton and Jane Benson.

Wilfred Lenzen, 75, of St. James, died Saturday, June 8, 2002 at Luther Memorial Home, Madelia.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 12 at St. James Catholic Church, St. James with burial in Calvary Cemetery, St. James.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. and 7:30-10:30 a.m., Tuesday at Sturm Funeral Home, St. James. There will be a Christian Mothers rosary at 4 p.m. and a parish prayer services at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
He is survived by his wife, Marian of St. James; a daughter, Marla Sherwood of Evanston, Ill.; sons, Michael of Omaha, Neb. and Dennis of New Ulm; seven grandchildren; and a sister, Marilyn McGinnis of Viera, Fla.
He was born Sept. 29, 1926 at Sholes, Neb., to Henry John and C. Pauline (Pinkelman) Lenzen.
He served in the U.S. Army from November 1944 to VJ Day, 1945.

Margaret Kalenberg, 89, of Stewart, died Monday, June 10, 2002, at the Burns Manor Nursing Home in Hutchinson.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 14, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Stewart, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Thursday at the Hughes Funeral Home in Stewart and will continue one hour prior to service at the church on Friday.
