Walt Meffert, Sr., 59, of rural Arlington, died Tuesday, June 18, 2002, at San Martin, Calif.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Arlington, with burial of ashes in the church cemetery. A time for friends and family to gather will be 5-8 p.m. Monday at the Kolden Funeral Home in Arlington.
He is survived by sons, Walter Meffert Jr. of Balitmore, Md., and Richard Meffert of Fayetteville, N.C.; daughter Deborah Saneman of Baltimore, Md.; four grandchildren; and sister Darlene Meline of Aitkin.
Walter Meffert was born Sept. 26, 1942, in Arlington, to Alivin and Ottilie (Pomplun) Meffert. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the 1960s.

Melvin "Curly" Steinhaus, 81, of New Ulm died Friday, June 21, 2002 at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with burial in the Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. on Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and then for one hour prior to time of service at the church on Monday. Full military honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the New Ulm Veterans Organizations.
Curly is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Marlene and Gary Krzmarzick of New Ulm, Karla and Reverend Michael Dietz of O'Fallon, Missouri; grandchildren, Nicole and Ben Kellerstrauss of Madison, Wisconsin, Matthew Dietz of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Christopher Dietz of Appleton, Wisconsin, Zachary Krzmarzick of St. Paul; a sister, Eleanor "Sis" Harmening of New Ulm; a brother, Earl Steinhaus, a resident of the Countryside Apartments in Sleepy Eye; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Imelda and Raymond Havemeier of New Ulm and a brother-in-law Percy Alfred of New Ulm. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dolores, on February 24, 2001; and by brothers, Ervin and Harvey Steinhaus.
Melvin was born April 8, 1921 in New Ulm to Henry and Amelia (Zamzow) Steinhaus. He attended St. Paul's Lutheran School in New Ulm. He was a veteran serving in the United States Army spending time in both Alaska and the Philippines. On June 21, 1946 he married Dolores Knapp at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in New Ulm. Curley worked for the City of New Ulm for ten years and then the New Ulm Telephone Company for thirty-four years before retiring in 1983. After retirement they moved to Pine River where Curly continued to enjoy hobby farming and raising beef cattle as he did while living in New Ulm. In 1992 they moved back to New Ulm. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, a life member of both the American Legion Post #132 and the Albert-Nagel Post, VFW #1648 both in New Ulm. Since November of 2001 he had resided at the Countryside Apartments in Sleepy Eye and for the past two weeks he was a resident of the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorial to the St. Paul's Lutheran Church parish center.

Dorothy A. Bidinger, 68, of Morton, died Saturday, June 22, 2002, at home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 26, at St. John's Catholic Church, Morton, with burial in Calvary Cemetery near Morton.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home of Redwood Falls, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., and will continue at the Church on Wednesday one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by her husband, Donald; children, Jeffrey Bidinger of Danube, Mark Bidinger of Redwood Falls, Michelle Matthews of West Chester, Penn.; Bradley Bidinger of Rochester, Mary Beth Hartzell of White Bear Lake, and David Bidinger of St. Louis, Mo.; 17 grandchildren; a brother, Bill Roberts of Ellsworth, Wis.; sisters, Marian Ruhland of Bemidji, Teresa Dobmeier of Kissimmee Fla., Evelyn Visser of Champlin, and Lucy Baumann of Austin, Texas.
She was born July 13, 1933, in Redwood Falls to Everett and Marie (Moe) Roberts.

Wesley L. Waibel, 78, of 1610 Sunset Avenue in New Ulm died Saturday, June 22, 2002, at the Winthrop Good Samaritan Center in Winthrop.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation will be 12:30-2 p.m. Monday at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. The
St. John's Court of the Catholic Order of Foresters will pray the rosary at 1 p.m. at the Cathedral. The Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is in charge of the arrangements.
Wesley is survived by his nieces, Kay Stifter of Minnetonka, Joanne Quam and her husband Alan of Princeton, and Elizabeth Seifert of St. Louis Park; and by numerous great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and by his sister, Florence Seifert in 1989.
Wesley was born April 10, 1924 in Lake Hanska Township, Brown County to Albert H. and Clara (Lieb) Waibel. He farmed with his parents in Lake Hanska Township, Brown County until moving to New Ulm in 1954. He then worked for Kraft Foods in New Ulm until his retirement. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm and the St. John's Court of the Catholic Order of Foresters. Wesley enjoyed playing cards.

Omer E. Gillespie, 80, of Sleepy Eye, died Sunday, June 23, 2002, at his home.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Madelia. Burial with military honors will be in Calvary Cemetery, Madelia.
Visitation will be 9-10:15 a.m. Tuesday at Pilgrim Funeral Home in Madelia.
He is survived by two nieces and a nephew.
He was born Dec. 13, 1921, in Madelia to Thomas and Rose (Griffin) Gillespie. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Lloyd Streeter, 74, of Hector, died Friday, June 21, 2002 at the Renville County Hospital.
Mass of Christian burial will be10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 26, at St. John's Catholic Church in Hector, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Hughes Funeral Home in Hector with a 7 p.m. prayer service. Visitation continues one hour prior to the service at the church.

Clarence Timm, 93, of Springfield, died Sunday, June 23, 2002 at St. John's Lutheran Home in Springfield
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Springfield, with burial in St Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Springfield.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Chapel in Springfield, and will also continue for one hour prior to the service at the church. Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of arrangements
He is survived by daughters: Maxine Rieck of Richfield, and Lora Lee Timm-Knuth of Worthington; a son, Rodney Timm of Columbia, MD; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a brother, Ewald Timm of Springfield.
Clarence Wilhelm Fredrech Timm was born March 15, 1908 to Henry and Emma (Zech) Timm in Burnstown Township, Brown County.

Steve Gluth, 37, of St. Petersburg, Fla., formerly of Minnetonka, Minn., died accidentally on June 19, 2002.
He is survived by parents, Warren and Ruth (formerly of New Ulm); brother, Brad (Nancy) of Burnsville, sisters, Jan (Don) Cable of Eden Prairie and Linda Hassler of Golden Valley; seven nieces and nephews; 50 cousins and loving companion Annette Tenaglia and her daughter Danielle of St. Petersburg, Fla.
Memorial service will be held Saturday, June 29, at 10 a.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Burnsville (952-435-8102).

James Isenberg, 88, of 1021 North Garden Street in New Ulm, and formerly of Lafayette, died Wednesday, June 26, 2002, at the New Ulm Medical Center.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2002, at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Lafayette, with private family burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 - 7 p.m. Friday and 7:30 - 8 a.m. Saturday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the time of the service at the church on Saturday. There will be a parish prayer service at 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
James is survived by his wife Verna Isenberg of New Ulm; a daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Tom Boys of Inver Grove Heights; son and daughter-in-law, James Jr. and Frances Isenberg of Denton, Texas; grandchildren, Jennifer McLain of Denton, Texas, Corey Boys of Woodbury, Sarah Isenberg of Arlington, Texas, Christopher Boys of Minneapolis, and Kelly Bertram of Maple Grove; great grandchildren, Jamie and Josh McLain, and Trey Isenberg; sister, Minnie Licht of Fort Dodge, Iowa; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph Isenberg of St. Peter, Conard and Nel Isenberg of Maple Grove, and Gilbert and Florence Isenberg of Lafayette.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Violet Lindquist; brother, Clinton Isenberg; and two great granddaughters, Teresa Marie McLain, and Kiana Isenberg.
James was born Dec. 20, 1913, in Lafayette, to Hjalmar and Ellen (Peterson) Isenberg. He attended school in Lafayette.
On Jan. 30, 1942, he married Verna Esser at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II from 1943 - 1946, serving in C.B.I. (China-Burma-India) as an airplane mechanic. After he returned home he worked for the Delphin Anderson Construction Company in Lafayette, and then for the North Star Concrete Company in Mankato as a supervisor at the Judson plant for 17 years. He retired in 1978. He was a member of the St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Lafayette.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the donor's choice.

Marcus Bomstad
WATKINS -- Marcus Bomstad, 76, of Blomkest, died Tuesday, June 25, 2002 at the Hilltop Nursing Home in Watkins.
Services are 2:30 p.m. Friday, June 28, at Blomkest Baptist Church with burial in Blomkest Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the K-M Funeral Home, Lake Lillian and Friday at the church, one hour prior to the service.

Frances Cordes, 88, formerly of New Ulm died Wednesday, June 26, 2002, at the Fairfax Community Home in Fairfax.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2002, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm, with burial in the Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation will be 5 - 7 p.m. today and from 7:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home on Saturday.
Frances is survived by her sister-in-law Lillian Wunderlich of Minden, Nevada; and nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Melvin A. Cordes on Nov. 28, 1983; eight sisters and one brother.
She was born on March 13, 1914, in Severance Township, Sibley County to August and Mary (Larson) Landquist. She married Melvin A. Cordes on Aug. 28, 1933, in Minneapolis. After marriage they lived in Minneapolis and they owned and operated a hobby store. They moved to New Ulm on Oct. 2, 1976. On Feb.7, 1994, she became a resident of the Fairfax Community Home in Fairfax. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in New Ulm, the American Legion Post 132 Auxiliary, and the New Ulm Senior Citizens.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials be given to donor's choice.

Carl Kirkhart, 69, of Chandler, Texas, died Tuesday, June 18, 2002, in Tyler, Texas.
He is survived by his wife Jacoueline Kirkhart of Chandler, Texas; and sisters, Cora Johnson of New Ulm, Ardyce Bistrup of Colorado, and Pearl Drill of Courtland.
He was preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Cora Kirkhart.
Carl O. Kirkhart was born April 8, 1933, in Genoa, Wis. He had lived in Chandler, Texas, for the past seven years. He was a musician and performed in many different groups.

Merlin 'Bud' Burghart, 81, of Dodge Center, and formerly of Fairfax and rural Sleepy Eye, died Monday, June 24, 2002, at the Fairview Nursing Home in Dodge Center.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 1, 2002, at the Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax, with burial in the Ft. Ridgely Cemetery in Ridgely Township, Nicollet County.
Visitation will be 5 - 8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30 - 10 a.m. Monday at the Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy Burghart of Little Rock, Ark.; son Mark Burghart of Little Rock, Ark.; daughter Marybeth Mosier of Tanzania, East Africa; sister Evelyn Billing, of Jordan, Mont.; and six grandchildren.
Merlin "Bud" Ross Burghart was born April 30, 1921, in Renville County, to Byron and Mamie (Cummings) Burghart.
He served in the Medical Corps of the U. S. Army for three years from 1942 - 1945, where he attained the rank of sergeant.

Roger Sellner, 58, of 213 Linden Street in New Ulm, died Thursday, June 27, 2002, at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 1, 2002, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, with burial in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-10:30 a.m. Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. The St. John's Court of the Catholic Order of Foresters will pray the rosary at 6 p.m., and there will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m., both Sunday at the funeral home.
Roger is survived by his wife Lois Sellner of New Ulm; his mother Alice Sellner of New Ulm; a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Sue Sellner of Norwood-Young America; grandchildren, Sarah, Dylan and Jordan Sellner, all of Norwood-Young America; sisters and brother-in-law, Diana Gutknecht and her special friend Don Zaruba, both of Savage, and Bev and Walt Luneburg of New Ulm.
He was preceded in death by his father Edmund Sellner; and by a daughter, Lisa Sellner on June 7, 1977.
Roger was born March 15, 1944, in New Ulm, to Edmund J. and Alice L. (Sprenger) Sellner. He married Lois Bishop on June 23, 1962, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. After marriage they lived in St. James, where he worked for Tony Downs Foods. They moved to New Ulm in 1965, where he worked for American Artstone, Skyline, Natures Fertilizer, New Ulm Steel and Recycling, and then for Kraft Foods for 15 years until ill health forced him to retire. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, and the St. John's Court of the Catholic Order of Foresters.

Howard B. Espenson
Services are 2 p.m., Saturday, June 29, at First Presbyterian Church, Lake Crystal, with burial in Cambria Cemetery.
He is survived by daughters, Sandi Thomas of Oregon, Wis., Sharon Schmidt of Fredric, Wis.; brother, David "El" Espenson of Rochester; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was born Oct. 27, 1922, in Cambria Township, Blue Earth County, To Charles "Ross" and Esther (Bowen) Espenson.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from January 1944 to April 1946.

Robert Samuelson, 72, of Comfrey, died Wednesday, June 26, 2002 at the Springfield Medical Center Hospital.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday, June 29, at New Hope Lutheran Church in Comfrey. Burial will be in Springfield City Cemetery with military rites by Albin Johnson American Legion Post 244 of Comfrey.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-9 a.m. Saturday at Sturm Funeral Home in Comfrey; and continues one hour before the service Saturday at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Marynelle; daughter Sandra Thompson of Tucson, Ariz.; sons, Ted Samuelson of Flower Mound, Texas, Peter Samuelson of Comfrey; and four grandchildren.
He was born April 7, 1939, to Ted and Leone (Tollefson) Samuelson in Graceville, Minn.
He served in the U. S. Army from 1952-54.

Lila Ballmann, 88, of 1009 South Minnesota Street in New Ulm died Friday, June 28, 2002 at the Sleepy Eye Care Center in Sleepy Eye.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm with burial in the Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday and 7:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.
There will be a parish prayer service at 7:30 pm Monday at the funeral home.
