Tammy Jo Leinenweber, 37, of Butterfield, died Friday, July 26, 2002, at St. James Health Services in St. James.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 29, at First Lutheran Church in St. James, with burial in Mounty Hope Cemetery in St. James.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday, and 7:30-9 a.m. Monday at Sturm Funeral Home in St. James, and will continue at the church one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by her husband, David; her parents, Marland and Lorraine Braaten of St. James; and a sister, Louise of Butterfield.
She was born Dec. 4, 1964, in Olmsted County to Marland and Lorraine (Falk) Braaten.

Dennis L. Pendleton, 58, of the Lower Sioux Community, died Thursday, July 25, 2002 at Sunwood Good Samaritan Care Center, Redwood Falls.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2002 at St. Cornelia's Episcopal Church, Morton with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Saturday at St. Cornelia's Guild Hall, Lower Sioux Community.
He is survived by a daughter, Bonnie of the Lower Sioux Community; a son, Dean of the Lower Sioux Community; and a daughter, Donna Flynn of Redwood Falls.
He was born Nov. 17, 1943 in Pipestone to Frederick and Gladys (Bear) Pendleton.

Loren L. Bjerke, 77, of Mankato, died at Immanuel-St. Joseph Hospital, Mankato, on Saturday, July 27, 2002.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday July 30 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Mankato, with Reverend Charles E. Ortloff officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Madison Lake.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at Landkamer-Johnson-Boman Funeral Home and continue at the church for one hour before the service on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to; Habitat for Humanity of South Central Minnesota, Heart Research at the Mayo Foundation or the Leukemia Society of America.
Loren is survived by his wife, Mary, of Mankato, sons; Steve and wife Christine of Madison Lake, Carl and wife Pam of Prior Lake, daughters: Susan Date and husband Gary of New Ulm, Nancy Penn and husband Jack of St. Peter, Sandra Martin and husband John of Baltimore, MD, Emily Lloyd and husband Mike of Prior Lake, a brother, Willard and his wife Rosalie of Holmen, Wis.; sisters, Hilda Eng and husband Merle of Flandreau, S.D., Helen Brudahl of Holmen, Wis., a sister-in-law, Edna Bjerke of St. Paul, eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Loren was born Feb. 12, 1925, in Clare Township, Moody County, near Flandreau, S.D. to Carl O. and Gina (Paulson) Bjerke. He served in the United States Air Force during WW II.

Cleona L. Bliss, 77, of Seaforth, died Saturday, July 27, 2002, at her daughter's home in Seaforth.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Seaforth, with burial in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Springfield.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Seaforth, and on Thursday one hour prior to the services at the church. Redwood Valley Funeral Chapel in Redwood Falls is handling arrangements.
She is survived by her children, Bette Bliss of Seaforth and Duane Bliss of Redwood Falls; a brother, Ervin Kaseforth of Springfield; and sisters, Viola Johanssen of Montevideo, Elizabeth Hansen of Spicer, and Lillian Schhiller of New Ulm.
She was born Oct. 11, 1924, on the family farm south of Springfield to John and Ottilie (Mueller) Kaseforth.

J. Glen Leopold, 75, of Sanborn, died July 26, 2002 at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednes-day, July 31, at United Methodist Church in Lamberton, with interment in the Sanborn City Cemetery, Sanborn. Pastor Arthur Miller will officiate.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30-9 a.m. Wednesday at the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield. There will be a Masonic service at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Visitation will continue in the church on Wednesday one hour prior to the service. Military rites will be provided by the Sanborn American Legion-Colburn Post #286.
Survivors include his wife, Mary of Sanborn; daughters, Glenda Peterson of Redding, CA, and Debra and husband Russ Reiner of Palo Cedro, CA; four grandchildren, Melisa and Lydia Reiner and Ryan and Samantha Peterson; a brother, Bruce Leopold of Springfield, and a sister, Verna Armbruster of Comfrey. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Charlotte Springer; and brothers, Edwin, Ewald, Gerhardt, Leon and Marvin Leopold.
Glen was born August 16, 1926 in Sanborn, the eighth of nine children, to John 0. and Hulda (Ringle) Leopold. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, attending Zion Lutheran School to the 8th grade.
After graduating from Sanborn High School in 1944, Glen enlisted in the U. S. Navy, attending gunners mate school and boot camp at Camp Hill Faragut Naval Base in Idaho. During his time in the Navy, Glen served aboard the L.S.T. 775 in the South Pacific. Following discharge, he attended Mankato State College for a short time, after which he entered the managers training program of a large grocery chain.
On January 9, 1948 he married Mary Gluth Olson at the United Methodist Church in Morgan. Glen started working as sales representative for Woodman Accident and Life Insurance Company, leaving that position in 1949 to join the Trojan Seed Company. Following his promotion to division manager, they moved to Aberdeen, S.D., later being transferred to Marshall to cover the S.W. Minnesota Division.
Glen and Mary returned to Sanborn, purchasing the City Cafe in 1953, later selling it in 1954 to join the Moorman Manufacturing Company. Glen became District manager for Cottonwood and Brown Counties, and was promoted to State Sales Manager in 1961, serving in that capacity until retirement in 1988. He also worked selling for Reiner Real Estate after his official retirement from Cottonwood and Brown counties.
Glen was a long time member of the United Methodist Church in Sanborn, serving as Trustee, Sunday School Teacher and Lay Leader. He served on the Sanborn School Board for 13 years, six of them as chairman, and was a member and Past Master of Fides Masonic Lodge #246 of Sanborn, a charter member of the Sanborn Community Development Company, member and past commander of Colburn American Legion Post #286 of Sanborn, and co-founder of the Sanborn Farmers Health & Golf Club. Glen was an avid golfer, and enjoyed fishing, high school sports and was very young at heart, living life to the fullest.

Rosemary B. Zupfer, 70, of North Mankato, died Friday, July 26, 2002, at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato, with burial in Woodland Hills Memorial Park, Mankato.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Mankato Mortuary in Mankato, with a 7 p.m. prayer service.
She is survived by her husband, Curtis J. Zupfer of North Mankato; sons, Steven Zupfer of Atlanta, Ga., and Gregory Zupfer of Bloomington; daughters, Kathryn Rogness of Sioux Falls, S.D., Jane Hermann of Woodbury, Patricia Zupfer of Savage, Cynthia Worthington of Toledo, Ohio, and Lisa Howe of Burnsville; brothers, Joseph Wech of Lakeville, and Richard Wech of New Ulm; sisters, Dorothy Christian of New Ulm, and Donna Forstner of Gibbon; and eight grandchildren.
She was born June 25, 1932, in New Ulm to Clarence and Mary (Fleck) Wech.

Louis V. 'Louie' Barrick, 77, of Gaylord, died Friday, July 26, 2002, at the Augustana Home in Hastings.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord with burial in the Oakland Cemetery, in Hutchinson, at 3 p.m., with full military rites by the Hutchinson Memorial Rifle Squad.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord and continues one hour before services Friday at the church.
Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson is handling the arrangements.

Ethel Kuelbs, 83, of Gaylord, died Monday, July 29, 2002, at Arlington Good Samaritan Center.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at United Methodist Church in Arlington, with burial in the Arlington Public Cemetery.
Vistiation is 4-8 p.m. today at Kolden Funeral Home in Arllington and continues one hour before the service Wednesday at the church.
She is survived by son, David Schulz of Plato; daughters, Barbara Haggenmiller of Arlington, Carol Thomes of Arlington; brother, Ralph Engel of Frazee; sisters, Grace Laasch of Deerwood; Clara Vernon of Hobbs, N.S.; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchldren.
She was born May 21, 1919, in Rygate, Mont. to Charles and Elizabeth (Tode) Engel.

Alfred H. Schenk, 88, of Spring-field, formerly of Sanborn, died Sunday, July 28, 2002, at St John Lutheran Home Springfield.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sanborn, with the Reverend Robert Mehltretter officiating. Interment will be in the Sanborn City Cemetery.
Visitatoin will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the St. John Lutheran Home Chapel in Springfield, and will also continue for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield is handling arranements.
He is survived by his children, Gary and wife Mary Schenk of Sanborn, Curt and wife Jackie Schenk of Sanborn and Joyce and husband Jerome Graff of Springfield; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren: Jeff and wife Tammy Schenk and their daughter Macy Jo; Gina and husband Steve "Buzz" Lang and their children Jesse and Justina; Shari and husband Dean Winkelmann and their children Kaci, Sadie, Maddy and Hali; Barry Schenk and his daughter Bailey; Terry and wife Jolene Schenk and their children Katrina and Kory; Jim and wife Melissa Graff and their children Blaine and Ryann; Jennifer and fiance Nick Johnson; John Graff and Jay Graff; a sister, Viola Gilmore of Eugene, Ore., and a brother, Bob and wife Betty Schenk of Townsend, Mont.
Alfred was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bernice; sisters, Edna Albrecht and Dorothy Schiller, and brothers, Art and Arnie.
Alfred was born on Jan. 16, 1914, in Sanborn, the son of Anton and Sophie (Kettner) Schenk. He grew up and attended country school in Delton Township. He was baptized and confirmed at the Christ Lutheran Church in Stately Township. Alfred married Bernice E. Schwarzrock on July 15, 1943 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church on Mahnomen. In 1944 the couple moved to a farm south of Sanborn where they lived and farmed in Germantown Township, Cottonwood County until retiring in 1996. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Sanborn until becoming a member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in 1960. Alfred enjoyed mowing lawns, farming and caring for his livestock. He was one of the last in the area to farm with horses. He especially enjoyed visiting and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Agnes "Aggie" Barrick of Gaylord; daughters, Phyllis Lindstrand of Chaska, Debbie Barrick of Dallas, Texas, Diana "Tudi" Martinek of Shakopee, and Dale Graupmann of Glencoe; son, Philip Barrick of Hastings; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren;sisters, Marlys Lindgren of Hutchinson, Beverly Smith of rural Hutchinson; brothers, Ralph Barrick of Hutchinson, Charles Barrick of rural Hutchinson, and Russell Barrick of Hutchinson.
Louis Virgil Barrick was born June 13, 1925, in Ellsworth Township, Meeker County, Minn., to Veryl and Emma (Wallmow) Barrick.
He entered the U.S. Army on Feb. 22, 1946. He served as a T-5 Surgical Technician until his honorable discharge on Aug. 9, 1947.

Martha M. Evers, 102, of Gaylord, died Monday, July 29, 2002 at Hutchinson Area Health Care.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Gaylord. with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Thursday at Egesdal Funeral Home and Thursday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by a daughter, Grace Sauter of Hutchinson and one granddaughter.
She was born July 7, 1900 to Albert and Mathilda (Ebert) Hoppe in Dryden Township, rural Gaylord.

Anne Elizabeth Herzog, daughter of Neil and Angela Herzog of rural New Ulm was delivered stillborn on Friday, July 26, 2002, at the Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Private family graveside services will be held at the Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is in charge of the arrangements.
Anne is also survived by her sisters, Heidi, Penny, and Mary Herzog; brothers, Luke, Peter and James Herzog; maternal grandparents, James and Ila Wieseler of rural New Ulm; and paternal grandmother, Dolores Herzog of Norfolk, Neb. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, John Herzog.

Robert 'Bob' Current, 91, of Redwood Falls, died on Monday, July 29, 2002 at the Wood Dale Nursing Home in Redwood Falls.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Aug. 2, 2002 at 1:30 p.m. from the United Methodist Church in Redwood Falls with burial at Current Cemetery, Home Township, Brown County, Minnesota.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 until 8 p.m. with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. at the Nelson-Martin Funeral Service in Redwood Falls. Visitation will continue at the church on Friday from 12:30 p.m. until time of service.
Robert Leslie Current, the son of Roy and Nellie (Case) Current, was born in Home Township, Brown County, Minn. on, Dec 27. 1910, died July 29, 2002. Married to Isabel Marie Lasby in July 26, 1939. Robert attended Teachers College Illinois for one year. He learned to fly in a cornfield on his father's farm in the late 1920's, and did barnstorm flying for a number of years. He took pilots training as a co-pilot with TWA in Kansas City in 1939, and then became a pilot with Continental Airlines in the summer of 1940, in Denver, Colo. He moved to Los Angeles in 1959 for Continental Airlines. He flew MATS contract overseas in the late 1960's and was in and out of the South Pacific during those years. He started a Boy Scout troop in the Philippines as well as other places in the Pacific area during that time. Robert was active in the Boy Scouts as a leader from 1950 to around 1990 when his last son became an Eagle Scout. All three of his sons were Eagle Scouts and Order of the Arrow. The Boy Scouts awarded him the Silver Beaver for his work in scouting. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason.
Robert moved to Minnesota when he retired and his last two sons grew up in Redwood Falls, where he lived out the rest of his life. In Redwood Falls, Robert was on the airport commission and served three terms as president, and remained as the main authority on aviation regulations for the board. Robert was also janitor at Methodist church for five years, and worked at Wal-Mart for over five years.
He is survived by his wife Isabel of Redwood Falls, sons Reece and wife Suzanne of San Jose, Calif., Bryce of Redwood City, Calif., and Robroy of Farmington, Minn. and daughters; Elizabeth Cogswell and husband Denis of Palo Alto, Calif. and Lorraine Wilson and husband Robert E. of Fremont, Calif.; and nine grandchildren: Blaine Current, Robert Current, James Current, Matthew Cogswell, and Casey Wilson as well as Marie Cogswell Buhntz, Monica Current, Margaret Wilson, and Nina Current. Robert was preceded in death by a brother Eugene, and two sisters; Hazel Rogers and Margaret Johnson.

Dorothy Lueben, 86, of the Realife Apartments in New Ulm and formerly of Morgan died Tuesday, July 30, 2002 at her home.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5, at the Oakwood United Methodist Church in New Ulm with burial in the Morgan City Cemetery at a later date.
The family will receive friends and relatives at a luncheon following the service on Monday.
Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is handling arrangements.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Tom Pierce of Wayzata and Outing; a daughter-in-law, Cora Lueben of Roseville; grandchildren, Craig Steele and his wife, Nisha of Indianapolis, Indiana, Kevin Steele and his fiancée, Beth McCullough of St. Louis Park, and Sara and Andy Lueben of Roseville; great-grandchildren, Madeline and Jessica Steele, and Khyri Lueben; sisters, Mildred Potter of Springfield, and Lois Bridges of East Wenatchee, Washington.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Gregor "Buzz" Lueben on July 16, 2002; a son, Mark; and a brother, Roger Kissner.
Dorothy was born November 1, 1915, in Prairieville to William A. and Anna (Blank) Kissner. On September 26, 1942, she married Gregor "Buzz" Lueben in Sleepy Eye. She graduated as a Registered Nurse from the Swedish Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis. She had worked at the Montevideo Hospital in Montevideo, Veterans Hospital in Minneapolis and at the Gil-Mor Manor Nursing Home in Morgan for 25 years. They had lived in Morgan for 42 years. They enjoyed 20 winters in Mission, Texas. She was a member of the Oakwood United Methodist Church in New Ulm, and the United Methodist Women Group.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the Morgan Public Library Building Fund, or to the Oakwood United Methodist Church in New Ulm.

Marilyn Rewitzer, 72, of 113 North Highland Avenue in New Ulm died Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at her home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday and will continue on Saturday from 7:30 until 9:30 a.m. at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. The Christian Mothers Society will pray the rosary at 4 p.m. Friday at the Cathedral, the St. Elizabeth Catholic Aid Society will pray the rosary at 6:30 p.m., and there will be a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. both Friday at the funeral home.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Donald Rewitzer of New Ulm; daughters and sons-in-law, Cher and Martin Joel, Audre and Rod Scheitel, and Patti and Bill Rodgers all of North Mankato; sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Paulette Rewitzer, Jim and Margi Rewitzer, and Tom and Beth Rewitzer all of New Ulm; sixteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Lorna Eckstein of Marshall and Marlys "Peggy" Berg of the United Arab Emirates; and a brother, Ronald Berg of Fridley. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Melvin "Buddy" Berg and a grandson, Tim Scheitel.
Marilyn was born on April 8, 1930, in New Ulm to Roman and Clara (Wilfahrt) Berg. She attended Holy Trinity Schools in New Ulm and graduated in 1948. On August 4, 1948 she married Donald Rewitzer at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. After marriage they lived in New Ulm and she had worked at Eibners Restaurant, Tillman Bakery, Osters Manufacturing, Windings, and then at Retzlaff's Hardware for twenty-seven years retiring in May of 1998. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, the Christian Mothers Society, the St. Elizabeth Catholic Aid Society, the German Bohemian Society, the New Ulm American Legion Auxiliary, and had been a member of the Glockenspiel Club where she had served on the board.
Marilyn enjoyed life to its fullest. She belonged to three card clubs, playing cards with life long friends from 1948 to the present time. She enjoyed and planned a lot of family events over the years, going to many of the grandkids plays, sports games, recitals, school events, and picnics. She loved to cook, dance, travel, read, take pictures, watch Twins baseball, and research family history. Donald and Marilyn were able to celebrate both their 40th and 50th wedding anniversaries.
