Harold J. Lappe, 79, of 2526 South Bridge Street in New Ulm died Thursday, August 15, 2002 at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Mon-day at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the St. Paul's Catholic Cemetery in Comfrey.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday and from 7:30-10:30 a.m. Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Harold is survived by his wife, Bernita Lappe of New Ulm; daughters and son-in-law, Mary Lappe, Lois and Daryl D. Helget all of New Ulm; son, Frank Lappe of New Ulm; granddaughters, Lyndsey Lappe, Krystal Lappe, Holly Helget; sisters and brother-in-law, Madeline Lappe of Arlington, Virginia, and Darlene and Jack Fitzhonts of Waukegan, Illinois; brothers and sister-in-law, Art Lappe of Dedham, Iowa, Gerald and Hyacinth Lappe of Massena, Iowa; a brother-in-law, Joe Thobe of Storden; and a special family friend, Deb Zahn of New Ulm. He was was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Sharon Kay Lappe; a sister-in-law, Barb Lappe; and a brother-in-law, Don Ray Thobe.
He was born on March 23, 1923 in Carroll, Iowa to Arnold and Elizabeth (Pietig) Lappe. He attended schools in Carroll, Iowa. On May 6, 1947 he married Bernita Elizabeth Thobe at the St. Francis Catholic Church in Rockwell City, Iowa. He ran a saw mill and owned and operated Lappe's Tree Service while in Iowa. In 1955 they moved to Comfrey to farm on the Red Rock Ridge and he continued to operate Lappe's Tree Service servicing customers in Cottonwood and Brown Counties. The moved to New Ulm in 1966 and were owners of the New Ulm Real Estate for 20 years. In 1981 they started Lappe's Express Cab and ran it until his retirement in July of 2000. Harold and Bernita celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on May 6, 2002. Harold was a very optimistic and easy going person who always found good in each person. He truly tried to help others whenever he could and will be missed. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. The family would like to thank the staff of the New Ulm Medical Center and especially Dr. Page and Dr. MacLaughlin for their compassionate care of Harold and his family members.

Marilyn Dording, 75, of Winthrop, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2002, at the New Ulm Medical Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday at 10:30 a.m.., at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Winthrop. Interment will be at the St. Andrew's Catholic Cemetery in Cairo Township, Renville County, MN at 1:15 p.m.
Visitation will be on Sunday from 4 to 8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 7:30 to 8 a.m., at the Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the Mass, at the church on Monday.
The rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m., and there will be a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at the funeral chapel on Sunday.
Marilyn Catherine (Seitz) Dording was born on July 12, 1927, in New Ulm, MN. She was the daughter of Joseph and Ceceila (Goblirsch) Seitz.
Marilyn was united in marriage to Cyril J. Dording on May 22, 1951 at the New Ulm Cathedral. This union was blessed with five children, Dennis, Glenda, Renee, Dianne, and Eileen. The couple celebrated 22 years of marriage until Cyril passed away in 1973.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Ceceila Seitz; her husband, Cyril Dording, her brother Edmund Seitz, and granddaughter Stacy Dording.
Marilyn is survived by her: son, Dennis Dording and his wife Joan, of Winthrop. MN; daughters, Glenda Dording of Elk River, MN, Renee Nelson and her husband Lance, of Big Lake, MN, Dianne Dording of Ramsey, MN, and Eileen Dording of Casper, Wyo., and seven grandchildren.

Francis F. Hillesheim, 71, of Sleepy Eye, died Friday, Aug. 16, 2002, at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, with Fr. Samuel Perez officiating. Burial will be in Home Cemetery, Sleepy Eye.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-10 a.m. Monday at the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
He is survived by his children, Rebecca and her husband Steve Spallone of Toms River N.J., Nadine and her husband Dale Creamer of Ramsey, N.J., Darcy and her husband Andy Molden of Klossner, and Drew Hillesheim of E. Rutherford, N.J.; eight grandchildren, Sergio, Nicole, Jason, Samantha, Bryan, Blake, Jacob, and Nicolas; two great grandchildren, Alexis and Sergio IV; brothers and sisters, Juliet and her husband Eldor Sprenger of Winthrop, Jerome Hillesheim of Sleepy Eye, Gilbert and his wife Janet Hillesheim of New Ulm, Lyle and his wife Betty Hillesheim of Gaylord, Gildard and his wife Lois Hillesheim of St. Peter, Rose and her husband Glen Zollner of New Ulm, Ruth Prokosch of New Ulm, Kathy and her husband Gene Fegie of Hector, Annette and her husband Art Helget of Hanska, Joe and his wife Alice Hillesheim of Leavenworth, Mary and her husband Dennis Stadick of New Ulm, and Steve and his wife Sandy Hillesheim of New Ulm. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Marie in 1985; and a brother, Hubert Hillesheim, and a sister, Regina Hillesheim.
Francis was born May 7, 1931 to Hubert and Katherine (Schunk) Hillesheim in Leavenworth. On Nov. 28,1950, Francis entered the U.S. Armed Forces and served in the Korean War where he received a Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged from service on Nov, 27, 1953. He married Marie Giammetta in New Jersey, where they spent 38 years and had four children. In 1985 Marie died and Francis decided to move back to his "home town." He enjoyed fishing, gardening, hunting and being with his friends. He was always a loving father and grandfather.

George Frank Tauscheck, 69, of Anacortes, Wash., died June 23, 2002.
He was born July 22, 1932, in New Ulm, to George and Gladys (Wagner) Tauscheck. George graduated from New Ulm Public High School, studied piano performance at the University of Minnesota and St. John's prior to serving in the United States Army. George received his bachelor's and master's degrees from California State University, pursued further graduate studies at Hamline University, Claremont Graduate School and the University of Washington.
George was a teacher for 28 years at schools in California and Washington. He was recognized as Teacher of the Year in 1969.
George is survived by his wife, Eleanor; four sons; two daughters-in-law; three grandchildren; two brothers, David of Seattle, and Thomas of Fridley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

David W. Warner, 80, of St. James died Thursday, Aug. 15, 2002 at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Minneapolis.
Services will be 9 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, at St. James Catholic Church, St. James with burial in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Monday at Sturm Funeral Home, St. James and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. A Christian Mothers Rosary will be held at 4 p.m. and a Parish Prayer Service at 7 p.m. Monday.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia of St. James; daughter Barbara Madson of Lander, Wyo., sons Dave of Edina, Tim of Mankato, Bob of Monticello, Mark of Honolulu, Hawaii, Pat of Rosemount, and Rick of Prior Lake; daughters Margaret Thompson of Rosemount, and Kathy Lepasepp of Savage; two sisters, Mary Kapp and Betty Passage both of Phoenix, Ariz; 26 grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
He was born July 25, 1922 to Timothy and Elizabeth (Getzmeyer) Warner in Montevideo. He served in the Army Air Force during WWII.

James F. Miska, 73, of Redwood Falls, died Friday, Aug. 16, 2002, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, at Redwood Valley Funeral Home with a service by the Masons at 7 p.m.
Burial will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
Memorials are preferred to the Redwood Area Hockey Association.

Eva Thomas, of Mankato, died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002, at Immanuel-St. Joseph Hospital.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Landkamer-Johnson-Boman Funeral Home, with a rosary at 7 p.m.; and continues one hour before the service Tuesday.
Memorials are preferred to the Diabetes Association.
She is survived by her husband, Bill; brothers, Claus Zimdahl of New Ulm; and Gary Zimdahl of Mankato.
She was born on May 29, 1934, in Stettin, Germany, to Bruno and Hedwig (Thomas) Zimdahl.

John Rohlik Sr., 67, of Vesta died Monday, Aug. 19, 2002 at Redwood Falls Hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, at St. Catherine's Catholic church, Redwood Falls with burial in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Seaforth.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Redwood Valley Funeral Home with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service.

Alfred Anacker, 79, of Butterfield, died Monday, Aug. 19, 2002 at Windom Area Hospital.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Darfur with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday at Bjerum Funeral Home, Mountain Lake and Thursday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma of Butterfield; sons, Richard of Comfrey and Miles of Fairmont; daughters, Linda of St. Joseph, Gale of Fort Collins. Colo. and Marlene of Darfur; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and brother, George of St. James.
He was born Aug. 15, 1923, to Richard C. and Cyrenna (Haeska) in Selma Township, Cottonwood County, Minnesota.

Evelyn Gronholz, 90, of Madelia, formerly of Lake Crystal and Vesta, died Monday, Aug. 19, 2002, at Luther Memorial Home in Madelia.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at First Baptist Church in Lake Crystal with burial at 2:30 p.m. in the Vesta City Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Friday and one hour before the service Saturday at the church.
Sunset Burial Association of Echo is handling the arrangements.

Ronald Hornick, 57, of Madelia, died Monday, Aug. 19, 2002, at the Madelia Community Hospital.
Services are 10:30 a.m., Friday, Aug. 23, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Madelia, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Sleepy Eye.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Pilgrim Funeral Home, Madelia with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.; and continues 9-10:15 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Stacie (Steen) Muchow, 26, of Gaylord, died Aug. 15, 2002, near Glencoe in a car accident.
Services are 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 24, at St. John's Lutheran church (Mountville) in rural Gaylord, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Friday, and continues 7:30-8:30 a.m. Saturday at Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord; and also one hour before services at the church.
She is survived by her mother, Carol Muchow of Gaylord; father, Mike Steen of Tennessee; daughters, Amanda Guzman and Harley Guzman of Gaylord; brothers, Joshua Steen of Litchfield, Chad Muchow of Gaylord; sisters, Melissa Cochrane of Portland, Ore. and Meslawn Miller of Portland, Ore.
She was born April 24, 1976, in Glencoe to Carol Muchow and Mike Steen.

John W. Rohlik Sr., 67, of Vesta, died Monday, Aug. 19, 2002 at Redwood Falls Hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002 at St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Redwood Falls with burial in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Seaforth.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2002 at Redwood Valley Funeral Home, Redwood Falls with a 7:30 p.m. parish prayer service.
He is survived by his wife, Clara of Vesta; 4 sons, John Jr. and Brian of Vesta, James of Hutchinson and David of Mantorville; 4 daughters, Bernadotte Bowman of LaBolt, S.D., Kathleen Boehmi of Butler, Pa., Theresa Iverson of Echo and Michele Sagedahl of Wabasso; 3 brothers, Peter and Paul of Seaforth and Tim of Redwood Falls; 2 sisters, Sr. Karolyne of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Jeannette Bernardy of Belview; and 24 grandchildren.
He was born March 8, 1935 to Charles and Helen (Kolander) Rohlik in rural Seaforth. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1958.

Thomas 'Tom' R. Sjogren, 57, of Winthrop, died, Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, at the Sibley Medical Center in Arlington.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at Bernadotte Lutheran Church in Bernadotte Township. The Winthrop Honor Guard will serve as an honor group. Due to road construction by the church, please call the funeral chapel for directions.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m., Friday and 7:30 - 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the time of the memorial service at the church on Saturday.
He is survived by his wife Linda Sjogren of Winthrop; son Jay Sjogren of Kenai, Alaska; father Robert Sjogren of the Winthrop; and sister Dr. Mary Ann Scheid of Arlington.
Thomas Robert Sjogren was born Aug. 16, 1944, in Minneapolis, to Robert and Edith (Gustafson) Sjogren.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1965-71 and was stationed in Thailand during the Vietnam War.

Dorothy Sjogren, 87, of Lafayette died Thursday, August 15, 2002, at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 23, at the First Lutheran Church in Lafayette with burial in the Clear Lake Lutheran Cemetery in rural Gibbon.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Friday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at church on Friday.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Barbara Rothmeier of Savannah, Georgia; a son, David Sjogren and his fianceé Paula Evers both of rural Lafayette; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Sylvia Oscarson of Lafayette; and a brother, Lester Vanderwerf of St. Peter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kermit Sjogren on June 4, 1998; a son, John Sjogren; a sister, Margaret Vanderwerf; and brothers, William, Richard, Henry, Louis and Ervin Vanderwerf.
Dorothy was born December 20, 1914, in Buffalo Center, Iowa to Dick and Dora (Tjarks) Vanderwerf. She married Kermit Sjogren on March 8, 1941, in Lafayette Township, Nicollet County. After marriage they farmed the Sjogren family farm in Lafayette Township, Nicollet County. In 1978 they retired from farming and moved to Lafayette where Dorothy worked for the Lafayette Good Samaritan Center for ten years. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Lafayette, the Clear Lake Lutheran Church in rural Gibbon and the Senior Citizens of Lafayette. She enjoyed church activities, bingo and playing cards.

Walter T. Becker, 87, of 1301 North Franklin Street in New Ulm, died Tuesday, August 20, 2002, at the Sleepy Eye Care Center in Sleepy Eye.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, at the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with burial in the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 7:30-11 a.m. Friday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm; and will continue for one hour prior to the time of the service at the church on Friday.
Walter is survived by his wife, Elviera Becker of New Ulm; daughters and sons-in-law, LaVonne and Jerome Bentz of New Ulm, Sharon and Mervin Baumann of Omaha, Nebraska, and Geraldine and Donald Diersen of Appleton, Wisconsin; ten grandchildren; and nine great- grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marcella Becker of Oelwein, Iowa, Sylvia Becker of New Ulm; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ralph and Dorothy Hamann of Mesa, Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Herbert in infancy, Wilbert, Fred, and Armin Becker; and sisters, Hertha Huelskamp, Erna Wills, Mabel Bullemer and Alice Hamann.
Walter was born January 26, 1915 in New Ulm, to Frederick and Alma (Klippstein) Becker. He attended country school in Lafayette Township, Nicollet County, and later attended the St. Paul's Lutheran School in New Ulm. He joined the C.C.C. (Civil Conservation Corps) in Ely for several years. On May 20, 1937, he married Elviera Enter in Nicollet. After marriage he worked for the General Store in Maple Lake and then farmed in rural Stewart until he retired in 1971 and moved to Hector. They then moved to New Ulm in 1986. They enjoyed twenty winters in Mesa, Arizona, and enjoyed many trips abroad. He was a member of the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, St. Paul's School, or to the Minnesota Valley Lutheran High School.

Lonnie Lee Brey, 40, of Chaska, and formerly of Sleepy Eye, died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2002, at his parents' home in Sleepy Eye.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, with burial in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Friday and 7:30 - 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. There will be a parish prayer service 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
He is survived by his parents Leon and Dorothy Brey of Sleepy Eye; sister LuAnn Haas of Sleepy Eye; and brothers, Butch Brey of St. Peter, Larry Brey of Shelby, N.C., and Lance Brey of Raymond.
Lonnie Lee Brey was born March 9, 1962, in New Ulm, to Leon and Dorothy (Gilman) Brey.
