Charles W. Biesanz, Sr., 86, of Winona, died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2002, at Community Memorial Hospital in Winona.
He is survived by his 10 children, including Francis Biesanz and wife Rebecca of Sleepy Eye, 32 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
He was born Oct. 13, 1915, in Winona.

James J. D'Elia, 80, of Sleepy Eye, died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002, at the Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, at Divine Providence Community Home Chapel in Sleepy Eye, with burial in Home Cemetery, Sleepy Eye.
Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Divine Providence Community Home Chapel. Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye is handling arrangements.
He is survived by two sisters, Agnes Shadwich of Bolivar, Mo., and Louise Jeffries of Hartford, Conn.
He was born April 30, 1922 in Hartford to James and Mary (Sarna) D'Elia.
He was a veteran of World War II.

Mary L. Forstner, 98, of Madelia, died Friday, Aug. 30, 2002, at Luther Memorial Home in Madelia.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Madelia, with burial in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday ant 9-10:15 a.m. Wednesday at the Pilgrim Funeral Home in Madelia, with a rosary at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday.
She is survived by sons, Thomas of Austin, Stanley of Hensler, N.D., Bob of Fargo and Larry of Aitkin; daughters, Audrey Schick of Bloomington and Florence Hubvbard of Boulder City, Nev.; a foster child, Pam Reid in Texas; 22 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.
She was born Sept. 27, 1903, in Duluth to John and Mary Housfelt.

Harleigh Marti, 1 month, died Aug. 31, 2002, at the Sleepy Eye Hospital.
Services are 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, at Faith United Methodist Church in Sleepy Eye, with burial in the Home Cemetery.
Visitation starts at noon at the church.
Arrangements are handled by Sturm Funeral Homes.
She is survived by her parents, Jennifer Kay Marti and Joseph Scott Schneier of Sleepy Eye; grandparents, Mark Marti of Sleepy Eye, Roxanne Fassbender of New Ulm.

Elden "Tiny" LeBert, 78, of 1019 North Broadway in New Ulm died Sunday, September 1, 2002 at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and will continue from 7:30 until 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. The Knights of Columbus will pray the rosary at 6:30 p.m. and there will be a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. both Tuesday at the funeral home.
Tiny is survived by his wife, Cleo, of New Ulm; a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Bruce and Pattie LeBert of Stillwater; a daughter and son-in-law Denise LeBert and Duane Suess of Clive, Iowa, a daughter Michele LeBert of Winona, and an adopted daughter Joni Douglas of Winona; grandchildren, Melissa and Jason Schroeck of Minneapolis, Ian and Daisy Bullerman of Minneapolis, and Jared and Jamie Suess of Clive, Iowa. He was preceded in death by daughters, Renee and Margo LeBert and Brenda Schroeck and by his parents, Edmund and Minnie LeBert.
Elden, the son of Edmund and Minnie (Wendland) LeBert, was born on December 29, 1923 in New Ulm. He attended grade school in Home Township, Brown County and graduated from the New Ulm Public High School. On August 30, 1945 he married Cleo Simmet at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. After marriage they lived in Sleepy Eye for three years where he was employed at the Sleepy Eye Creamery. He then went to work as a salesman for Olewein Chemical Company and they moved to New Ulm in 1948. In 1951 he went to work for the Eagle Roller Mill in New Ulm, which was later sold to International Multifoods. He was employed as a Territory Manager and Sales Trainer for Supersweet Feeds and served in that capacity for twenty seven years, working out of the New Ulm Office. He was later transferred to the Kansas City, Missouri area working there for about a year and a half when he suffered a severe hearing loss and decided to take disability retirement. For eleven years, Elden and Cleo spent the summer months at Grand View Lodge in Brainerd, where she was employed. They spent their winters in Florida for the past twenty years. During the 1960's and 70's, he was active as a Boy Scout Leader and served as President of the Red Rock Council which merged with the Peacepipe Girl Scout Council. He was President of the Holy Trinity Home and School Association and also served on the Parish Council of the Holy Trinity Cathedral Parish. He was a Faithful Navigator for the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, of which he was a member. He also belonged to the New Ulm Country Club and Turner Halle in New Ulm.

Dorothy L. Laabs, 77, of Green Isle, died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002 at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Green Isle. Interment will take place in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to service Friday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
She is survived by daughters Sharon Schuette of Green Isle and Diana Grove of Woodbridge, Va.; son Ernst Jr. of Green Isle; brothers Lawrence of Omaha, Neb., Paul of Spokane, Wash., and Harold Tesch of Waconia; and three grandchildren.
The Kolden Funeral Home of Arlington is handling the arrangements.

Paul O. Paulsen, 86, of Evan, died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, at the Veteran's Administration Medical Center in Minneapolis.
Service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Evan. Interment will be at Home Cemetery in Sleepy Eye.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Thursday at the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.
He is survived by sons Robert of Lake Crystal, and Lynn of Culver; daughters, Betty Voigt and Barbara of Sleepy Eye; sisters Anna Petermann of Evan, Marie Pinneo of Canton, Mich., and Pauline Schakel of Evan; 13 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
Paul was born Feb. 21,1916, in Evan, the son of Lars and Kirsten (Ostergaard) Paulsen.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from January 1942 to November 1945.

Viola B. Schultz, 84, of New Auburn, died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, at Glencoe Regional Health Services.
services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Auburn, with burial at the High Island Cemetery in New Auburn.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30 a.m.-8:30 a.m. Thursday at the Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord, and one hour before services at the church.
Viola was born July 17, 1918, in Brownton.
Viola is survived by sons Harlow and Larry of New Auburn; a sister Myrtle Knacke of New Auburn; nine grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by parents Albert and Ida Schimmelpfennig.

Sr. Anna Blumhoefer, 85, formerly of Fairfax, died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, at St. Scholastice Convent in St. Cloud.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 4 p.m. Thursday at St. Benedict's Convent in St. Joseph.
She is survived by sisters, Regina Jandel of Fairfax, Angela Peters of Fairfax, and Mary O'Neill of St. Paul, and brothers, Philip and Sylvester Blumhoefer of Fairfax.
She was born Jan 31, 1917, to Ben and Therese (Bastian) Blumhoefer.

Russell Heller, 74, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and formerly of New Ulm, passed away Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, at a local care center in Colorado Springs.
Heller, the youngest child of Richard and Mary (Jacobson) Heller, was born Sept. 10, 1927, in New Ulm. He was baptized in New Ulm on Oct. 28, 1927, and confirmed on March 29, 1942. He graduated from high school in Milwaukee, Wis., on Aug. 30, 1949. He married Mabel A. Hoelscher on Aug. 9, 1972, in Colorado Springs. He was employed by Penrose Hospital in the maintenance department and retired in 1989.
He is survived by his wife Mabel; four stepsons, Neil L., Robert A., Edward E., and Arthur R. Butenschoen; brother Howard Heller; two sisters, Florella Helling and Lenora Voight; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Redeemer Lutheran School.

Marie Huberty, 93, of Sleepy Eye, died Friday, Aug. 30, 2002, at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6, 2002, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, with burial in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Sleepy Eye.
Visitation will be 2-3 p.m. Thursday, with a 2:30 p.m. rosary by the Christian Mothers at the Divine Providence Community Chapel. Visitation will continue 9 - 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church in Sleepy Eye. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.
Marie Broker Hubert was born Sept. 7, 1908, in Collegeville. She graduated from Cathedral High School in St. Cloud, at St. Cloud Business School. Prior to her marriage in 1934, to Joseph Huberty of Tracy, Marie was employed by Zapp State Bank and the City Treasurer's Office in St. Cloud. In 1952, the family moved to Sleepy Eye, where Marie had been an active member of St. Mary's Christian Mothers, the Hospital Auxiliary and Divine Providence Community Home Auxiliary. She was also a founding leader of the Sleepy Eye Busy Bees 4-H Club.
Marie is survived by her four children; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family prefers memorials be given to the charity of one's choice.

Marcella Schroepfer
SLEEPY EYE -- Marcella Schroepfer, 85, of Sleepy Eye, died Sept. 3, 2002, at Divine Providence Community Home.
Services are 2 p.m., Friday, Sept. 6, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Thursday and 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. There will be a combined rosary by COF, Holy Family Society and Christian Mothers at 4 p.m. and a parish service at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
She is survived by children, Mary Ann Helling of St. James, Marvin Schroepfer of Apple Valley, Dennis Schroepfer of Alexandria; Joyce Miller of Rochester; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and brother Perry Augustin of Springfield.
She was born Feb. 22, 1917, in Springfield, to Michael and Mary (Meidl) Augustin.

Carol J. Kruggell, 57 of Winthrop, died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002, at Hutchinson Community Hospital.
Mass of Christian burial is 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Winthrop with burial in the Winthrop Cemetery.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Thursday and continues 9:30-11 a.m. Friday at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Winthrop. There will be a rosary at 6 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop is handling the arrangements.
She is survived by her husband, James Kruggel of Winthrop; children, Joe Kruggel of Victoria, Jacki Kruggel of Winthrop, Brad Kruggel of Winthrop, Kim Schauer of Winthrop, Jamie Kruggel of Winthrop, and Shawn Kruggel of Winthrop; five grandchildren; brothers, Robert Brand of New Ulm, Kenneth Brand of Glenview, Ill., Donald Brand of New Ulm, Marvin Brand of Plymouth, and David Brand of New Ulm; and sisters, Phyllis Schmitz of New Ulm, Marlys Drill of New Ulm, Joleen Jorgensen of New Ulm, LaDonna Kissner of St. Cloud, and Doris Guemmer of St. Cloud.
Carol Jean (Brand) Kruggel was born Dec. 22, 1944, in New Ulm to Joseph and Sophia (Kuehn) Brand.

Richard E. Rogotzke, 63, of Sanborn, died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002 at his home.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at Zion Lutheran Church, Sanborn with burial in Sanborn City Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Friday at Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield and Friday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon of Sanborn; children, Erwin of Rapid City, S.D., Bradley of Sioux Falls, S.D. Michael and Rodney, both of Sanborn; his mother, Myrtle of Lamberton; five grandchildren; brothers, Robert of Fairfax and Albert of Sanborn; sisters, Betty Ann Kurth of Hutchinson and Mary Jane Rogotzke of Bloomington.
He was born Feb. 27, 1939 to Albert and Myrtle (Klasnya) Rogotzke near Sanborn.
He served five years in the Army National Guard.

Sara L. Beran, 81, of Redwood Falls, died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002, at Wood Dale Nursing Home in Redwood Falls.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9, at First United Methodist Church in Redwood Falls, with burial at a later date in the New Avon Salem United Methodist Cemetery in New Avon Township.
Visitation will be 4 - 7 p.m. Sunday and 10 -11 a.m. Monday at Nelson-Martin Funeral Home in Redwood Falls.
She is survived by her husband Ted Beran of Redwood Falls; sons, James Beran of Richmond, Va., William Beran of Clements, and Richard Beran of St. Peter; daughters, Catherine Robbins of Driftwood, Texas, and Elizabeth Beran of Seattle, Wash.; and seven grandchildren.
Sara L. Beran was born July 4, 1921, in Corson County, S.D., to Herbert and Helen (Williamson) Lyman.

Theodore "Teddy" Waibel, 80, of 811 9th South in New Ulm died Saturday, September 7, 2002 at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Tues-day at St. Mary's Cath-olic Church in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. Monday and 7:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. The St. Joseph's Catholic Aid Council and the St. John's Catholic Order of Foresters will pray a combined rosary at 6:30 p.m. and there will be a parish prayer service at 8 p.m. both Monday evening at the funeral home.
Teddy is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Bonnie Waibel of St. Cloud, Kathy and Dennis Grell of Wykoff; sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Kris Waibel of rural New Ulm, Tim and Mary Waibel of rural Courtland; eleven grandchildren; sisters, Lorraine Gulden of New Ulm, Verna Yater of Colorado Springs, Colorado; brother and sister-in-law, Willard and Dorothy Waibel of New Ulm; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Alize and Robert Zeig, Grace and Pat Fischer, Donna and Ambrose Hoffmann, Joanne Schugel, all of New Ulm, and Sally Stephens of California. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen Waibel on January 7, 1992; and a son, Thomas Waibel.
He was born on July 13, 1922 in Sigel Township, Brown County to Henry and Clara (Guggisberg) Waibel. He married Helen Schugel on September 11, 1944 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm. After marriage they farmed in Courtland Township, Nicollet County and moved to New Ulm in 1984. He served as a clerk in School District 28 in Courtland Township for three years and also served as a delegate for A.M.P.I. for three years. He was a Courtland Township Board Member for eighteen years and served as a Board Member of the Minnesota Valley Burial Association for sixteen years as well as serving on the Fire Association Board for Courtland Township. He was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm since 1944 and was a member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Aid Council and was a fifty year member of the St. John's Court # 698, Catholic Order of Foresters in New Ulm.

David 'Skinner' Roy Johnson, 63, of Lino Lakes, Minn., and formerly of Sleepy Eye, died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002, at St. John's Hospital in Maplewood, Minn.
Visitation is 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, at Sturm Funeral Home. Burial will be at Home Cemetery in Sleepy Eye at a later date.
He is survived by brothers, Robert and Darwin Johnson of Sleepy Eye; and sister Judy Sandmann of Franklin.
He was born Nov. 23, 1938, in Prairieville Township, Brown County, to Olaf and Alice (Beilke) Johnson.
He was a member of the U.S. Army reserves in the 1960s.

Violet Novotny, of Hector, died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002, in Roseville.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 10, at St. John's Catholic Church in Hector, with burial in the Hector City Cemetery.
Visitation starts at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
