Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Nelson-Martin Funeral Home in Redwood Falls, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church Wednesday from 1 p.m. until time of service.
Services are 2 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 11, at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Redwood Falls with burial in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Clements.
She is survived by sister Florence KIetscher of Redwood Falls.
She was born June 27, 1910, in Three Lakes Township, Redwood County to Peter and Margaret (Groebner) Prokosch.

Fred Orland Sonnichsen Jr., 65, of Belview and formerly of Redwood Falls and Willmar, died Sept. 7, 2002, at Parkview Home in Belview.
Services are 2 p.m., Monday Sept. 9, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls, with burial in the Redwood Falls Cemetery.
Visitation is one hour before the service at the church.
Arrangements are handled by Redwood Valley Funeral Home.
He is survived by children, Betty Gibson of Aurora Colo., Marie Root of Kalamazoo, Mich., Kathy Sonnichsen, Frankie Foley of Coolege, Texas, Fred Sonnichsen Jr. of New Boston, Mich., and Dennis Lawrence of Florida; 14 grandchildren; and siblings; Robert Sonnichsen of Stevensville, Mich., Delores Hayes of Elk River, Marilyn Youngmark of Elk River, Shirley Oie of Elk River, and Harlan Sonnichsen of Redwood Falls.
He was born Dec. 28, 1936, in Redwood Falls to Fred and Gertrude (Homeier) Sonnichsen.

Bertha L. Bugge, 100, of St. James, died Monday, Sept. 9, 2002, at St. James Health Services Hospital.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, at Augustana Lutheran Church, St. James with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery, St. James.
Visitation is 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Sturm Funeral Home, St. James handled arrangements.
She is survived by a son, Gordon of New Brighton; daughters, Dorothy Farnberg of Alexandria; Catherine Hansen of Sun Lakes, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was born Jan. 10, 1902, in Ivanhoe to Lars and Augusta (Lundquist) Johnson.

Richard Kraus, of New Ulm, died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002, at the Sleepy Eye Care Center in Sleepy Eye.
Funeral service will be 11 am Wednesday at the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with burial in the Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm. Full military honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the New Ulm veterans organizations.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the time of the service at the church on Wednesday.
Richard is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Richard "Butch" and Sheryl Kraus of Eden Prairie and Douglas and Julie Kraus of New Ulm; grandchildren, Jason Kraus and Melissa Kraus of New Ulm, Amanda Nuebert and her husband Jason of Chaska, and Alissa Benson and her husband Todd of Beale Air Force Base in California; two great-granddaughters, Kyrah Rose Nuebert and Jasmyn Nuebert; a sister, Viola Weller of New Ulm; brothers and sister-in-law, Clarence "Goldie" and Veronica Kraus and Harold "Boots" Kraus, all of New Ulm.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Jeanette Kraus on June 21, 1984.
Richard was born December 19, 1920, in New Ulm to William and Alvina (Terhofter) Kraus. He attended New Ulm Public Schools. He married Jeanette Hansen on July 24, 1942, in New Ulm. Richard served in the United States Army from August 12, 1942 to November 15, 1945 as a Surgical Technician with the 397th Station Hospital in England. After returning to New Ulm. he owned and operated Kraus Bothers Construction with his brother Clarence for 30 years. He was a member of the Seifert-Bianchi American Legion Post 132 in New Ulm and the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm.
He had been a resident of the Sleepy Care Center for the past three years.

Violet Novotny, of Hector, died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002, at her son's home in Roseville.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, at St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Hector with burial in Hector City Cemetery.
Visitation starts at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
Arrangements are with Hughes Funeral Home, Hector.
She is survived by her sons, Robert of Roseville and Roger of Burnsville; four grandchildren; and a sister, Jean of Bloomington.
She was born March 7, 1918, to Fred and Lena Macik near Lake Lillian.

Donald Chatleain, 87, of Franklin, died Monday, Sept. 9, 2002, at Rice Memorial Hospital, Willmar.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 13, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Franklin with burial in St. Patrick's Birch Cooley Cemetery, Renville County.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, at Nelson-Martin Funeral Home, Redwood Falls and Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until services. A prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine Chatleain of Franklin; daughters, Lorraine Glatz of Franklin; Betty Neary of St. Peter; Sister M. Catherine of Mankato; a son, Joseph of Willmar; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was born Nov. 7, 1914 to Frank and Maude (Metcalf) Chatleain in Siren, Wis.

Mrya Dempsey, 96, of 627 Summit Avenue, New Ulm, died Monday, Sept. 9, 2002, at the New Ulm Medical Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 13, 2002, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, with burial to follow in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 - 7 p.m. Thursday and 7 a.m. - 10 a.m. Friday at Schmucker Funeral Service in New Ulm. A parish prayer service is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Christian Mothers will have a Rosary 4 p.m. Thursday at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity.
Myra Louise Seifert, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Forster) Seifert, was born Sept. 29, 1905, in New Ulm. She received her primary and secondary education in New Ulm Catholic and public schools. After graduating from New Ulm High School, she attended St. Theresa's College in Winona, and later received her medical technician training at St. Mary's Hospital in Minneapolis.
She was united in marriage to William Dempsey, a prominent New Ulm attorney, on April 1, 1929, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. During the decades that followed, Mrs. Dempsey was active in many church and civic activities.
Survivors include her two sons and their wives, William H. Dempsey, Jr. and Mary Studer Dempsey of Arlington, Va., Robert N. Dempsey and Norma Wilson Dempsey of Alexandria, Va.; eight grandchildren, William H. Dempsey, III and his wife Karen of McLean, Va., Robert J. Dempsey and his wife Katie of Plano, Texas, Timothy M. Dempsey and his wife Rebecca of Chattanooga, Tenn.; Elizabeth A. Salvano and her husband Mathew of Orlando, Fla., Thomas E. Dempsey and his wife Diana of Arlington, Va., Mary Catherine Lembke and her husband Matthew of Birmingham, Ala., Robert W. Dempsey and his wife Pongsri of Washington, D.C., Joanna W. Davoudlarian and her husband David of Alexandria, Va.; 10 great-grandchildren; nephews, Dr. James Seifert and his wife Jane of New Ulm, Dr. Richard Seifert and his wife Carmen of Fargo, N.D.; nieces, Marie Reichel and her husband Bernard of Santa Monica, Calif., Nancy Erwin and her husband Thomas of Alexandria, La.
Mrs. Dempsey was preceded in death by her husband William H. Dempsey in 1964; her sister, Elsie Warner; her brothers, Otto J., Arthur V., Leo J., and Harry Seifert; and grandson, David Dempsey.
Contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Thomas I. Sargent, 72, of St. James, died Monday, Sept. 9, 2002 at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital, Mankato.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, 2002 at St. James Catholic Church. Burial with military honors will be in Calvary Cemetery, St. James.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2002 and 8-10:30 a.m. Thursday at Pease Funeral Home, St. James. Christian Mother's Rosary will be held at 5 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
He is survived by daughters, Valerie Sargent, Lsha Westman and Cathy Hauer, all of St. James, Michelle Dunn of Lake Benton; a son, Lenny Sargent of St. James; 7 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; brothers, Norbert of Duluth and Udean of Glenwood; sisters Marion Dittrich of Mankato and Karen Ries of New Ulm.
He was born March 5, 1930 in Lamberton to Irvin and Minnie (Bollig) Sargent. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Roberta 'Bobbi' M. Schweiss 63, of Fairfax, MN, passed away on Friday, September 6, 2002, at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, September 14, at 11 a.m., at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax. Interment of ashes will be in the church cemetery in Cairo Township, Renville County, Minnesota.
Visitation will be Saturday from 8 to 11 a.m. at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax.
Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax is handling arrangements.
Roberta Mary (Voosen) Schweiss was born October 3, 1938, in St. Peter. She was the daughter of Robert and Kathryn (Michels) Voosen. Roberta moved with her family, to New Ulm, where she attended school at St. Mary's. Her family later moved to St. James, where Roberta graduated from High School in 1957. She continued her education in Mankato, where she received her degree as a LPN in 1959. She furthered her schooling at Willmar Community College, becoming a RN in 1990. She later received her RNC, being certified in geriatrics.
Roberta married Dennis Schweiss on April 26, 1960, at St. James Catholic Church. The couple made their home in Fairfax.
During her lifetime, Roberta co-owned and operated the D & R Dairy Frost in Fairfax, for over ten years. She held employment as a nurse at the Sleepy Eye hospital, the Fairfax Community Home and the Gil-Mor Manor nursing home in Morgan. She also assisted clients in Fairfax, as a private kidney dialysis nurse. Roberta was also licensed to sell insurance and IRAs through PFS.
Roberta attended St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax, where she was active with the Christian Mothers. She served as an election judge for the City of Fairfax for over 30 years. She was a member of the Fairfax Lions Club and served, in the past, on the 5M-4 Lions Cabinet from 1992 - 1996. She was a charter member and current president of the Fairfax Lioness Club and she belonged to the Fairfax Legion Auxiliary, where she served, in the past, as chaplain.
Roberta always had a smile for everyone. She was a dedicated, organized volunteer and a hard worker, who always went the extra mile to assist with club events. She loved spending time with her family and she also enjoyed cooking, baking and making candy. Everyone loved Roberta's poultry dressing, brownies and carmels. Roberta loved her cats, Biscotti and Chloe and she enjoyed collecting cat figurines. She also enjoyed needle-pointing, making afghans and coasters, along with traveling and attending Chanhassen Dinner Theater productions.
Roberta was preceded in death by her father, Robert Voosen, a niece, Leah Voosen and two nephews, Bradley Schweiss and Anthony Schweiss.
Roberta is survived by her husband, Dennis Schweiss of Fairfax; daughter, Patrice Schweiss of Brooklyn Park; mother, Kathryn Voosen of St. Peter; sister, Susan Valentine and her husband, Don of Bloomington; brothers, Michael Voosen and his wife, Linda of Bloomington, and Fred Voosen and his wife, Michaele of Aberdeen, Wash.; foreign exchange student, who was just like a son, Ari Makela and his wife, Reija of Finland, and many nieces, nephews, in-laws, other relatives and friends.

Rose Stueber, 98, formerly of 419 North Franklin Street in New Ulm died Monday, September 9, 2002 at the Sleepy Eye Care Center in Sleepy Eye.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30-9:30 a.m. Thursday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. The Christian Mothers Society will pray the rosary at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Cathedral. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
She is survived by her daughters, Doris Groebner and Arleen Siemer both of New Ulm; a daughter-in-law, Ukee Krenz of New Ulm; twelve grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Theodore Stueber on June 13, 1950; a son, Walter (Wally) Stueber on July 22, 1987; a daughter, Mary Stueber in infancy; son-in-law, Leslie Groebner on July 14, 1997; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Tony Seifert; and by brothers, Joseph, Arthur, and Jonny Mueller.
Rose was born April 2, 1904, in West Newton Township, Nicollet County, to John and Margaret (Laebel) Mueller. She attended country school in West Newton Township, Nicollet County. On August 17, 1925, she married Theodore Stueber at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. After marriage they farmed in Milford Township, Brown County, until the death of her husband. She continued to farm until moving into New Ulm in 1954. After moving to New Ulm she cleaned homes for many families. She was an avid gardener, seamstress and loved babysitting her grandchildren. She had been a resident of the Sleepy Eye Care Center in Sleepy Eye since August 20, 1990. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity and the Christians Mothers Society.

Gladys L. 'Skiddy' Hinderman, 80, of Fairfax, died Monday, September 9, 2002, at her home.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. John Lutheran Church in Fairfax, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 7:30-8 a.m. Friday at the Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax. Visitation continues one hour before services at the church on Friday.
She is survived by her husband, Lloyd "Windy" Hinderman of Fairfax; children, Kathy Johnson of Faribault, Nancy Whitaker of East Dundee, Ill., Jim Hinderman of Sleepy Eye, and Whitey Hinderman of Fairfax; three grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and sisters, Inez Schwarzrock of Bird Island, and Bernice Norskog of Willmar.
Gladys "Skiddy" Lorraine (Ruud) Hinderman was born June 3, 1922, in Osceola Township, Renville County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Theodore and Amanda (Jenson) Ruud.

Gordon Sveine, 85, of St. James, died Sept. 10, 2002, at St. James Health Services Hospital.
Services are 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 14, at Albion Lutheran Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday and continues 7:30-9 a.m. Saturday at Sturm Funeral Home, St. James; and one hour before the service at the church.
He is survived by daughters, Fay Jukulen of St. James, Leann Cargill of St. James; brothers, George Sveine Jr. of New Ulm, Burton Sveine of Two Harbors; sister, Verna Kenney of Seattle, Wash.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren;
He was born Oct. 25, 1916, to George and Marie (Skarpohl) Sveine, in Brown County.

Henrietta Haase, age 77, of Sleepy Eye, MN, died Friday, September 13, 2002, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Services will be Monday, September 16, 2002, at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Ron Freimark officiating. Internment will be at Home Cemetery, Sleepy Eye, MN.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, September 15, 2002, at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye, MN. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the time of the service at the church.
Henrietta was born March 8, 1925, to Roelf and Jeradine (Tamneus) Meyer in Freeport, IL. Henrietta was born a twin with Hilda. She attended country school Dist. 435 in Noble Co. near Fulda, MN. Henrietta kept home for a family in Fulda until her marriage to Donald Haase on February 9, 1947. Henrietta and Don made their home on a farm near Hadley, MN, until moving to Sleepy Eye in 1961. She worked as a cook for various business before starting with the Sleepy Eye Public School in 1973. Henrietta retired from the public school in 1993 and then worked as the Manager for the Senior Dining at Ross Park Apartments in Sleepy Eye. She enjoyed cooking, baking pies, and gardening, Henrietta was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye and served on the Alter Gild for many years.
She is survived by her husband Donald Haase of Sleepy Eye, MN; 4 children, Carol and her husband Delbert Hillesheim of Sleepy Eye, Dixie and her husband Thomas Kluver of Bloomington, MN, Linda and her husband Casper Tiedeken of New Ulm, MN, and Donna and her husband Jon Medin of Parker, CO; 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and 5 brothers and sisters. She is preceded in death by her parents, 1 grandchild, 1 great grandchild, and 3 brothers and sisters.

Dorothy Kea, 79, of Redwood Falls, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2002 at her home.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20, 2002, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Redwood Falls.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, 2002, at Redwood Valley Funeral Home and Friday at the church, one hour prior to the service. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
She is survived by her husband Clement; children Kathleen of Mankato, Susan Morris of Redwood Falls, Paul of Mesquite, Texas; Caroline Little of St. Paul, William of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Fred of Sanborn; eight grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
She was born Dec. 1, 1922 in New Ulm, to Fred and Alma (Joseph) Rochlitz. She enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in communications in Pensacola, Fla.

Cecelia A. Goltz, 94, of Springfield, formerly of Darfur and St. James, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002 at St. John Lutheran Home, Springfield.
Services are 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at New Hope Lutheran, Comfrey with burial in Faith Lutheran Cemetery, Comfrey.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home of Comfrey.
He is survived by a son, Oscar Goltz Jr. of New Ulm; daughters, LaVonne Anderson of Alexandria and Marlyss Harmon of Boulder, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was born July 8, 1908, in Hanska to Karsten and Helena (Fleike) Jacobson.
