Elsie C. Weyer, 70 of Redwood Falls. died Thursday in St. Cloud.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Catherine's Catholic church in Redwood Falls. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Bird Island.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home in Redwood Falls, with a 7 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will continue on Monday at the church one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by her children, Patrica Duggan of Brookings, S.D., Peggy Marchand of Toledo, Ohio, Jeffrey Weyer of Sauk Centre, Theresa Mages of Howard Lake, and Diane Vosen of St. Cloud; 13 grandchildren; one brother, Ray Farmer of Redwood Falls; two sisters, Veronica Paulson of St. Paul and Helen Breitkreutz of Olivia.
She was born March 23, 1932 in Lismore to George and Theresa (Cook) Farmer.

Hazel I. Kragness, 87, of Canby, died, Saturday, Sept, 28, 2002, at Sioux Valley Canby Hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Canby.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday at the Birk Funeral Home in Canby, and at the church Tuesday one hour prior to the services.
Her survivors include a son, Jim Kragness and his wife Sandy of New Ulm.

Susan Jenniges, 74, of rural Lamberton, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield.
Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, at St. Mathias Catholic Church in Wanda, with burial in the St. Mathias Catholic Cemetery in Wanda.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Tuesday and 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield.
Susan Marie, the daughter of Michael and Margaret ( Moelter ) Brand, was born on Oct. 19, 1927, in Willow Lake Township, Redwood County. She attended country school, District No. 32 in Willow Lake Township. On April 10, 1951, she married Austin Jenniges at St. Mathias Catholic Church in Wanda. They resided in Wanda until moving to the Jenniges farm in Waterbury Township, where Susan lived until becoming a resident of St. John Lutheran Home in June 2002.
Susan was a lifetime resident of the Wanda area and a life long member of St. Mathias Catholic Church. She was a homemaker, an active member of her church, a Western Community Action Volunteer, and for many years, a member and officer of CCW, Lady Foresters and the Liturgy Committee. She cared for the Altar Linens and served as a greeter for Mass, Minister of Praise and sang on the choir for 58 Years. In 1998, Susan received the Bishop's Medal of Service.
Survivors include her 10 children, Nick and his wife Karen Jenniges of Wanda, Anne and her husband Joe Williams of Falcon Heights, Rick Jenniges of Wanda, Helen and her husband Mark Guetter of Wabasso, Patty and her husband Gary Peterson of Tracy, Betsy and her husband Tom Holm of New Ulm, Jerry Jenniges of Lucan, Mary and her husband Brad Eggersdorfer of Mankato, Bill Jenniges and Melissa Krueger of Hutchinson, and Jim Jenniges of Wanda; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Nick Brand of Hopkins, Catherine Brand of Wabasso, Herb Brand of Wanda, Hubert and his wife Veronica Brand of Lucan, Chris Brand of St. Paul; in-laws, Bertha Altermatt, Dick and his wife Elaine Rohlik and Father Leonard Jenniges, all of Wanda, Jean and her husband Bill Duetsch and Mary Jenniges, both of Ellsworth, Irene Jenniges of Wabasso, and Annabelle Jenniges of Winona; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Michael and Margaret Brand; husband Austin in 1998; a sister, Sister Michael Ann Brand; sisters-in-law, Faye, Gloria and Marie Brand; and brothers-in-law, Vincent, Billy, Clair and Valentine Jenniges, and Isadore Altermatt.

Darrell 'Butch' Skunes, 62, of Sleepy Eye, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, at Sleepy Eye hospital.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, at Trinity Lutheran church in Sleepy Eye, with burial in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30-9 a.m. Wednesday at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye and continues one hour before the service at the church.
Butch was born July 24, 1940, in Warren, Minn. He was the son of Edwin and Othelia "Tillie" (Moen) Skunes. He graduated from Warren High School, then enlisted in the Navy where he served three years, stationed in Boston, Massachusetts. He graduated from Moorhead State College in 1964 with degrees in mathematics, physical education, and coaching. He taught one semester at Sitka, Alaska, then four years at Madison, Minn. Following that, he worked one year as a computer programmer for Univac. He learned that teaching was his love, and taught secondary math at Sleepy Eye Public School for 28 years, until his retirement in 1999. While there, he was an active member of the Sleepy Eye Education Association, where he served in several offices. He was a strong advocate of teachers' rights.
He married Sharon Hagemeister at Detroit Lakes, Minn., on June 8, 1971, and they resided in Sleepy Eye. Butch was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye. Besides teaching, he was a beekeeper from 1975 through 1988. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and bridge player. He was an accomplished winemaker and enjoyed teaching this art to several others.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon of Sleepy Eye; brothers, Harold and his wife JoAnn Skunes of South St. Paul, Orrin and his wife Emily Skunes of Helena Mont., and Lee and his wife Maxine Skunes of Bagley, Minn., and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Fern.
Memorials received by the family will be donated to Redwood Area Hospice, Sleepy Eye Municipal Hospital Building Fund, and Trinity Lutheran Church. If anyone prefers to donate to one of these organizations directly, it would be appreciated.

Esther Ganger, 67, of Nicollet died Monday, September 30, 2002, at the Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 3, at the St. Paul's Catholic Church in Nicollet with burial in the New Ulm City Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Nicollet. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. There will be no visitation on Thursday.
Esther is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, John and Nancy Ganger of North Mankato, and James and Rhonda Ganger of Nicollet; grandchildren, Michael Ganger, Lyndsey Ganger, and Ashley Ganger; a sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Vern Lawson of Lincoln, Nebraska; brother and sister-in-law, Clyde and Lorrie Shottenkirk of Swea City, Iowa; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Margola and Carl Oeltjenbruns of Springfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence Ganger on November 3, 1977; and a sister, Donna Ohm.
Esther was born December 4, 1934, in Garden City, Kansas, to Elvin and Florence (Fischer) Shottenkirk. She attended school in Albert Lea. On May 28, 1955, she married Clarence Ganger in Jefferson City, Missouri. After marriage they lived in Tucson, Arizona, until moving to New Ulm in 1975. She moved to Nicollet in 1997. She worked for AMPI in New Ulm from 1984 until she retired in 1998. In 1996 she received an award for her twelve years of dedicated service for foster care from Brown County Family Services. She moved to North Mankato in 2001. She was a member of the St. Paul's Catholic Church in Nicollet and the Nicollet American Legion Auxiliary.

Ruth Agnes Anderson, 92, of Fairfax, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, at Fairfax Community Home.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, at at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Fairfax, with burial in the Swedlanda Lutheran Cemetery in Palmyra Township.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. Friday until the time of the service at the church. Arrangements are with the Hughes Funeral Home.
She is survived by her sons, Loren Anderson of Fairfax, and Dennis Anderson of Gaylord; 13 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and sister Orda Dahl of Franklin.
Ruth Anderson was born March 31, 1910, in Franklin, to Oscar and Florina (Wigen) Pederson.

Ralph Louis Hulke, 75, of Lamberton, died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, in Johnsonville Township, Redwood County.
Services are 10:30 a.m., Friday, Oct. 4, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lamberton, with burial in the Lamberton Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday and 7:30 - 8:30 a.m. Friday at Sturm Funeral Home in Lamberton. Visitation will also continue 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the church.
He is survived by his wife Carol of Lamberton; children, Diane Jenniges of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Darold Hulke of Egan, and Wayne Hulke of Waconia; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, LeRoy Hulke of Eau Claire, Wis., and Robert Hulke of St. Paul; and sister Dora Drager of Bothell, Wash.
Ralph Louis Hulke was born Aug. 10, 1927, near Wabasso, to Carl and Blanche (Deinhart) Hulke.
He served in the U.S. Army in 1950-51.1951.

Ray Palmby, 90, of Redwood Falls, and formerly of Mankato and Lakefield, died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, at Sunwood Good Samaritan Care Center in Redwood Falls.
Services are 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, at First United Methodist Church in Redwood Falls, with burial in the Vernon Center Cemetery.
Visitation will be 9 - 10 a.m. Thursday at the church. Arrangements are with Nelson-Martin Funeral Service in Redwood Falls.
He is survived by his son Robert Palmby of Tall Timbers, Md.; daughters, Elenore Boots of Redwood Falls, and Deborah Ridgewall of Wildwood, Mo.; sisters, Bernice Case of Lake Crystal, and Gladys Domonoske of Rochester; and brother Clarence Palmby of St. Paul.
He was born Nov. 30, 1911, in Klemme, Iowa, to Ernest and Addie (Hartbeck) Palmby.

Lawrence J. Ries, 89, of Madelia, died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002 at Madelia Community Hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Madelia with burial in Calvary Cemetery, Madelia.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, at Sturm Funeral Home, St. James with a rosary at 4 p.m. and parish prayer service at 4:30 p.m.
He is survived by two sisters, Cecilia Wolle of Mountain Lake and Margaret Mathistad of Portland, Ore.
He was born July 9, 1913, to John and Agatha (Koehn) in Fern Valley Township, Iowa.
He joined the U.S. Army Air Corps and served in England, North Africa and Italy during World War II from 1941-1945.

Patricia K. Schlottman, 57, 1915 N. Spring, New Ulm, died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, at Immanuel-St. Joseph Hospital, New Ulm.
Services are noon, Thursday, Oct. 3, at United Church of Christ, New Ulm with burial in the Soldier's Rest Section of New Ulm City Cemetery.
Memorials are preferred to the donor's choice.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 7-10 a.m. Thursday at Schmucker Funeral Service, New ulm and Thursday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by her father, Ivar Goltz of Hanska; husband Dale Sr. of New Ulm; a son, Dale Jr. of New Ulm; daughters, Jane Baker of New Ulm, Lori Wilson of Lafayette, Tiffany Danly of Pensacola, Fla. and Jessica MIller of St. Cloud; a brother, Virgil Goltz of Comfrey; a sister, Ilene Haugen of Comfrey; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was born Dec. 28, 1944 to Ivar and Lillian (Bakken) Goltz at New Ulm.

Norbert Warren, 88, of Gibbon died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, at the Winthrop Good Samaritan Center in Winthrop.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the time of the service at the church on Saturday. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon is in charge of the arrangements.
Norbert is survived by his wife Ruth Warren of Gibbon; a daughter Patricia Casale and her husband Robert of Burleson, Texas; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law Ardis Warren of Onalaska, Wis.; sisters-in-law, Esther Warren of Red Wing, and Irene Warren of Brooksfield, Fla.; and also by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Duane Warren; brothers, Robert, Russell, and Clifford; and a sister Isabelle.
Norbert was born Oct. 9, 1913, in Zumbro Falls, to Raymond and Anna (Lemke) Warren. He attended school in Lake City. On June 4, 1966, he married Ruth Bandow at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon. After marriage they lived in Minneapolis, where he worked as a mechanic for Peterson Pontiac. He retired in 1970, and moved to Gibbon and ran a gun shop out of his home. Norbert and Ruth enjoyed 25 winters in Mesa, Ariz. He has been a resident of the Winthrop Good Samaritan Center in Winthrop since July of 2002. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon.

Donald E. Christiansen, 70, of Sleepy Eye, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002 at the Veteran's Administration Medical Center in Minneapolis.
Services are 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 5, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Sleepy Eye with burial in Gilfillan Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Friday and 7:30-9 a.m., Saturday at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye. and Saturday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by his wife Annabelle of Sleepy Eye; a son, Dean and Sheila Christiansen of Sleepy Eye; daughter, Denise Walter of Sleepy Eye and five grandchildren.
He was born Aug. 30, 1932, to Holgar and Esther (Jensen) Christiansen in Cobden. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

June Nelson, 61, of Palm Desert, Calif., and formerly of New Ulm, died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002, at her home.
A Memorial Service of Remembrance will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, 2002, at the United Church of Christ in New Ulm. Private family graveside services will be held at the New Ulm City Cemetery. A visitation and reception will be held from 4 - 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002, at Schmucker Funeral Service in New Ulm, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
June Rae Anderson, the daughter of Kern and June (Fladebo) Anderson was born June 27, 1941, in Willmar. As a child, she moved with her family to Minneapolis, where she graduated from Southwest High School. She was united in marriage to Gary Nelson on April 27, 1963, in Minneapolis. They moved to New Ulm in 1969, where they were in partnership in the Insurance Group of New Ulm for 25 years, retiring in 1998. They moved to Palm Desert in 2000. She was a member of St. Margaret's Episcopal Church in Palm Desert and the United Church of Christ in New Ulm.
Survivors include her husband; daughters, Kristen Nelson and Barbara Nelson of San Francisco; granddaughter Stella Nelson of San Francisco; mother June Anderson of Minneapolis; twin sister Judy Trench and her husband Tom of Brooklyn Center, sister Jervey Christiansen of Willmar; brother Perry Anderson and his wife Kate of Edina; brother-in-law Wallace Nelson and his wife Arlene of Lamberton; sister-in-law Shirley, Schafer and her husband Curtis of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father.
Memorials are preferred to the donor's choice.

Dianne O'Brien, 48, of 817 Fifth South Street in New Ulm, died Tuesday, October 1, 2002, at her home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm with burial in St. George Catholic Cemetery in West Newton Township, Nicollet County.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Friday and 7:30 - 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Dianne is survived by her mother, Rita Maurer of New Ulm; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Cindy O'Brien of New Ulm; sisters and brothers-in-law, Bonnie O'Brien Reinhart and her husband Greg of Sartell, Ruth Maurer Jobe and her husband Jason of Purcellville, Virginia, Deb Maurer Jovanovich and her husband Jerry of Corcoran, and Janel Maurer and her fiancé, John Livingston of Bend, Oregon; and by seven nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, William O'Brien on June 18, 1960.
Dianne was born December 29, 1953, in St. James to William and Rita (Gleisner) O'Brien. Dianne graduated from New Ulm High School in 1972 and then attended Anoka Vo-Tech in Anoka and graduated as a psychiatric tech. She was employed at the Lake Owasso Children's Home and the Billard's Home in Jackson. She moved to California and worked in her field in Santa Cruz. She moved back to New Ulm in 1977 and worked at various homes in the New Ulm area. Dianne was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm.

Lorraine Oslund, 95, of Bird Island, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at Bird Island Manor.
Services are Saturday 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bird Island with Rev. George Schmit officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Visitation is Friday 5-8 p.m. at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Bird Island with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and continues Saturday at the funeral home from 9:15 to 10.15 a.m.
Lorraine Oslund was born Aug. 8, 1907, at Bird Island, Minn., to Henry J. and Catherine (Brunner) Weis. She attended school at Bird Island. Lorraine then worked as a telephone operator and for Dr. Cosgriff, Sr.
Lorraine married Clifford Oslund on April 7, 1931, at Bird Island. They were blessed with six children. They farmed at rural Bird Island retiring into town in 1971. She had been active in 4-H, was a member of the Catholic Aid Society, and a member of St. Aloysius CCW. She worked as a Nurses' Aide at Renville County Hospital in Olivia. In her personal time Lorraine had enjoyed bowling, dancing, gardening. She was a great Minnesota Twins fan. She also prayed several rosaries every day. Lorraine has just recently been a resident of the Bird Island Manor and her death took place there on Tuesday, October 1, 2002.
Lorraine is survived by her children; Doug (and Rita) Oslund of Rochester, Mavis Jorgensen of Bird Island, Dan (and Chris) Oslund of Rochester, LuAnn (and Richard) Billmeier of McGregor, Larry Oslund of New Ulm and Judy Sheehan of Bird Island; 21 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; brothers, Ed Weis of Bird Island, Adrian (and Germaine) Weis of Bird Island; sisters, Cecilia Smith of Bird Island, Catherine Miller of Olivia, Helen Visser of St. Paul and Phyllis Graves of Minneapolis.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Clifford on Sept. 8, 1994; one grandchild, one great-grandchild; three brothers and four sisters.
