Georgia Karstad, 69, formerly of New Ulm, died Monday, Oct. 7, 2002, at the Franklin Health Care Center in Franklin.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm, with burial in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday from 9 - 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
Georgia is survived by a nephew, Rick Tilbury of Portland, Ore.; and by aunts and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Lester Karstad; and a sister Lillian Tilbury.
Georgia was born April 9, 1933, in Brighton Township, Nicollet County, to Edward and Irene (Jutz) Karstad. She graduated from New Ulm Public High School in 1952. After graduation she worked at Farmers and Merchants State Bank in New Ulm, and later worked for Cargill in Minnetonka as a secretary. She lived in various places until becoming a resident of the Franklin Health Care Center four years ago.

Elvira Kietzer, 92, of Mankato, and formerly of Vernon Center, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at St. John's Lutheran Church of Willow Creek, rural Vernon Center. The Rev. Craig Cummins will officiate. Burial will follow the service at St. John's Lutheran North Willow Creek Cemetery.
Mrs. Kietzer died Tuesday morning, Oct. 8, 2002, at Mankato House Health Care Center in Mankato. Visitation will be 5 - 7 p.m. Friday at Olson-Zaharia Funeral Home in Truman, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Elvira J. Prill, the daughter of Paul and Lena Prill, was born Aug. 29, 1910, in Pleasant Mound Township, Blue Earth County, Minnesota. She attended St. John's Lutheran Parochial School in Willow Creek. On Sept. 29, 1929, Elvira was united in marriage to Anton August Kietzer at St. John's Lutheran Church of Willow Creek. Following their marriage they farmed in the Willow Creek area for many years. Anton died Jan. 17, 1965. She became a resident of Mankato House Health Care Center in Mankato, on May 29, 1985. Elvira enjoyed baking and spending time with her family. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Willow Creek, its Ladies Aid and the DORCAS Circle.
She is survived by two daughters, Gladys Jorgenson and her friend, Tom Sehr of New Ulm, and Delila Zielske and her husband Lawrence of Le Center; one daughter-in-law Evelyn Kietzer Willette and her husband Dave of Fairmont; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Eaton of Mora; two brothers, Ervin Prill and his wife Mildred and Donald Prill, all of the Twin Cities area. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Gordon and Howard; one daughter, Arlene Armstrong; one grandson; three brothers; and two sisters.

June Lueck, daughter of Julius and Ella (Ellefson) Grotta, was born March 21, 1915, in Albin Township, Brown County. She died Monday, Oct. 7, 2002, at Luther Memorial Home in Madelia. She was 87 years old.
June grew up in rural St. James and graduated from high school there. She lived most of her life in New Ulm where she worked for periods at the Garment Factory, Cudahay, Beyer's Steak House and Herberger's, where she retired after over 20 years of service. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, St. John's Auxiliary and Sioux Valley Hospital Auxiliary, all in New Ulm. She enjoyed sewing and painting.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, Wallace and Diane of Fargo, N.D., and Richard and Dianne of New Ulm; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and brother Stanley Grotta of Hawthorne, Calif. June was preceded in death by a son, Jerome and her sister Melba Marshall.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, at Albion Lutheran Church, rural St. James, with the Rev, David Webster officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 5 - 8 p.m. today at the Pilgrim Funeral Home, Madelia and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Lyle Williams, 68, of Willmar, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002, at St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Vinje Lutheran Church in Willmar, with Rev. Steven Knudson officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Willmar, with Military Honors by VFW Post No.1639 and American Legion Post No. 167. Visitation will be 5 - 8 p.m. today at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
Lyle was born on Dec. 30, 1933, in Minneota, the son of L.H. and Anna (Mandsager) Williams. He was raised in Godahl and attended country school, graduating from St. James High School in 1950. He stayed home and worked on the family farm following high school.
On Aug. 8, 1953, he was united in marriage to Janice Jensen in Sioux Falls, S.D. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 - 1955, during the Korean War. Following his discharge, they lived in New Ulm, Hutchinson, Montevideo, and Hanska, before moving to Willmar in 1963. He worked as an over-the-road trucker and after moving to Willmar he worked for Country Hearth, retiring in 1996. Janice died on Oct. 14, 1993. Lyle was united in marriage to Beverly de Cathelineau on July 9, 1994, at Green Lake. Since 1998, he has worked at Leaders Manufacturing.
He was a lifetime member and past board member of VFW Post No.1639 and was member of American Legion Post No. 167 and Elk's Lodge, all in Willmar.
Lyle was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith and was a member of Vinje Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife Bev; sons, Steven (and Debra) Williams of Maple Grove, Brian (and Kathy) Williams of Paynesville, Michael (and fiancée, Kathy Carpenter) of Annandale; stepchildren, Daniel (and Toni) Burns of Raymond, David (and Myra) Burns of Princeton, Wayne (and Jacqueline) Burns of Little Falls, Kelly (and Mark) Olmscheld of Belgrade, and Amy Burns of Willmar; six grandchildren; 16 step-grandchildren; and his brother and sisters, Eunice Broughton of St. James, Arden (and Arlene) Williams of St. James, Audrey Peterson of Eden Prairie, Maxine Saylor of Lakewood, Colo., and Fay Williams of Godahl.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Eugene; infant daughter, Laura; and stepgranddaughter, Kourtney Bums.

Timothy R. Childs, 37, of Redwood Falls died Wednesday Oct. 9, 2002, at Biloxi, Miss.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Monday, at Nelson-Martin Funeral Service in Redwood Falls and one hour before the service Tuesday at the church.

Wilford Maas, 79, of rural Nicollet, died Wednesday evening, Oct. 9, 2002, at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Nicollet with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 - 8 p.m. Friday at Schmucker Funeral Service in New Ulm, and will continue one hour prior to service at the church on Saturday.
Wilford Edwin Maas, the son of Henry and Emma (Mieske) Maas, was born Aug. 17, 1923, at Nicollet County. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Nicollet. He spent his youth on the family farm and attended country school.
He married Kathryn Tauer on Jan. 25, 1945, in Nicollet. She died in 1947 of a brain tumor. He was united in marriage to Ardella Luepke Nov. 16, 1950, at the Redeemer Lutheran Church parsonage in New Ulm. They made their home and farmed in Granby Township, Nicollet County.
After retiring from farming, the couple continued to live on the home farm. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Nicollet. Wilford loved woodworking, fishing, hunting and playing cards. The couple was active members of the Polka A Club.
Survivors include his wife, Ardella; daughters, Judy Hering and her husband Ernst of Waterville, Jean Hardel and her husband Darwin of Nicollet, June Davis and her husband Wayne of Kasota, and Joan Martens and her husband Tom of Nicollet; son John Maas of Nicollet; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Harold Luepke and his wife Joyce of Courtland, Joseph Tauer of New Ulm; sisters-in-law, Alice Groehler of Winthrop, Hildegard Luepke of New Ulm, and Genevieve Eisele of Nicollet; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Marie Garbrecht, Margaret Clyne and LoIda Lueck.

Raymond Koll, 82, of Springfield, died Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield, with burial in the St. Raphael's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30 - 10 a.m. Monday at the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield. There will be a Parish Prayer Service 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and a Men's Rosary 10 a.m. Monday at the church.
Ray, the son of Herman and Cecelia (Reding) Koll, was born June 23, 1920, near Elrosa. He moved with his family in the early 1930s to the Morgan area. He attended country school in District No. 92 near Morgan and later at St. Michael's in Morgan. He worked for the Jerome Green and Ray Reding families on the farm and in the Tempel Grocery Store in Morgan. Ray served in the U.S. Army from Oct. 14, 1942, - Oct. 7, 1943.
On Nov. 15, 1943, he married Agnes Reiner at St. Michael's in Morgan. The couple farmed in Bashaw Township from 1948 - 1978. Ray and Agnes moved into Springfield in 1980. Ray worked at Augustin's Butcher Shop for 17 years and served as a Bashaw Township Board member for 15 years as supervisor. He had worked with the Sturm Funeral Home since 1979. He was a former member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Morgan, St. Paul's Catholic Church in Comfrey, where he was a reader for I5 years, and a current member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield.
Ray was a lifelong member of the K.C. Council No. 2769, a 50-year member of the Catholic Aid Association, a member of John Watson American Legion Post No. 257 and a member of the Springfield Honor Guard. Ray enjoyed playing cards, working in his yard and visiting with people.
He is survived by his wife Agnes Koll of Springfield; children, Pat and her husband John Ryan of Springfield, and Ken and his wife Shari Koll of Springfield; five grandchildren, Shawn and his wife Faith Ryan of Springfield, Kerry and her husband Mike Klemm of St. Louis Park, Tom and his wife Kori Ryan of Brooten, Angie Koll of Mankato, and Katie Koll of Lakeville; brothers, Leo and his wife Gertrude Koll of Olivia, Roman and his wife Hazel Koll of Morgan, Jerome and his wife Marion Koll of Sleepy Eye, and Leroy and his wife Joy Koll of Austin; sisters, Florence Weber of Morgan, Dorothy Kalkhoff of Morgan, Delores Rothmeier of Olivia, and Mary Lou Mathiowetz of Leavenworth; and a sister-in-law Florence Koll of Morgan.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ed Koll; a sister, Loretta Heiderscheidt; brothers-in law, Richard Mathiowetz, Alois Heiderscheidt, Ernest Kalkhoff, Clarence Weber and Lawrence Rothmeier.

Loretto Sallet, 92, of 715 S. German St. New Ulm, died Thursday morning, Oct. 10, 2002, at the Gaylord Lakeview Home in Gaylord.
Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002, at Ridgeway on German (715 S. German St.) in New Ulm. Private interment will be held at the New Ulm City Cemetery. Schmucker Funeral Service of New Ulm is handling the arrangements.
Loretto Genevieve Frenzel, the daughter of Adolph and Alma (Vollrath) Frenzel, was born Jan. 29, 1910, in New Ulm. She attended Cathedral High School in New Ulm, McPhail School of Music in Minneapolis, and the Minneapolis School of Business. She was united in marriage to Frederick W. Sallet on June 24, 1930, at the Brighten Methodist Church in Nicollet County. The made their home in New Ulm for a time before moving to North St. Paul, where they lived for several years. The couple also lived in New Port Richey, Fla. Following her husband's death in 1988, Loretto returned to New Ulm.
She was one of the first residents of the newly opened Ridgeway on German. She was also a member of the Junior Pioneers.
Survivors include her daughters, Philene Jesse and her husband Paul of Dayton, Carolyn McClure of Shorewood; six grandchildren, Cynthia Sprague and her husband Duane of South Haven, Deborah Korin and her husband Mark of Oak Grove, Bradley Brandt of Elk River, Lynn Tekula of New Ulm, Lisa Drews of Mound, and John Rhode of Shakopee; seven great-grandchildren, Rosie Tekula, Zachary and Dylan Sprague, Cory and Kristina Drews, Scotty and Hayley Hammond, great-great-grandchild Skyla Rose Sprague; sister Virginia Dale of Onalaska, Wis.; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorials are preferred to the donor's choice.

Annie Bottem, 79, of Lamberton, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at Valley View Manor care Center in Lamberton.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lamberton with burial in the Lamberton Cemetery.
Visitation is 8-11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Sturm Funeral Home in Lamberton is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by husband, Ernest of Lamberton; daughter, Susan Bottem of Willmar; and sister, Elizabeth Tate of Wilmington, N.C.
She was born Oct. 22, 1922, to Harris B. and Elizabeth W. (Westbrook) Bloodworth in Rocky Paint, N.C.

Timothy R. Childs, 37, of Redwood Falls, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, at Biloxi, Miss.
Services are 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002 at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls with burial in Redwood Falls Cemetery. There will be full military honors at the cemetery by the Redwood Falls VFW, American Legion and National Guard units
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Monday, Oct. 14, at Nelson-Martin Funeral Service in Redwood Falls and continues one hour before service at the church Tuesday.
He is survived by sons, Tyler Childs of Motley; daughter, Jessica Childs of Motley; brothers, Terry Childs of Mankato, Todd Childs of Biloxi, Miss.; sister; Denise Bradley of Deforest, Wis.; and parents, Dean and Esther Childs of Redwood Falls.
He was born Feb. 27, 1965, in Mankato, to Dean and Esther Childs.

Marvin Henning, 85, of Morgan, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at Sunwood Good Samaritan Center in Redwood falls.
Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Morgan with burial in the church cemetery with military honors by the Martin-Jensen Post 308 Franklin American Legion.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at Nelson-Martin Funeral Home in Morgan and continues one hour before the service Tuesday at the church.
He is survived by brothers, Herbert Henning of Morgan; and sisters Leona Henning of Morgan, and Loraine Henning of Morgan.
He was born Dec. 27, 1916, in Sherman Township, Redwood County to William and Bertha (Peske) Henning.

Roger Kroells66, of Green Isle, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Henderson with burial in Arlington Public Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-9 p.m. Tuesday at Kolden Funeral Home in Arlington and one hour before the service at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Eldora of Green Isle; daughter, Sherylynn Mortensen of Waconia; son, Darren Kroells of Waconia; six grandchildren; sisters, Arlette Crawford of Inver Grove Heights and Bernadine Repp of Kent, Wash.
He was born Aug. 10, 1936, in Washington Lake Township, Sibley County, to Diedrich and Amanda (Meyer) Kroells.
Memorials are preferred to St. Paul's U.C.C. Handicapped Fund.

John Owens, 81, of rural Lake Crystal, died Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, in rural Lake Crystal of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, at Lake Crystal Mortuary, with burial in the Lake Crystal Cemetery.
Visitation is one hour before the service.
He was born March 7, 1921, to Calvin and Jane Alice (Hughes) Owens in Mankato.

Hubert Iffert, 95, of Morgan, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at Gil-Mor Manor in Morgan.
Services are 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Morgan.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Nelson-Martin Funeral Service in Morgan, with a combined parish and Knights of Columbus rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation continues 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
He is survived by sons, Florian Iffert of Kokomo, Ind., Arnold Iffert of Morgan; daughter, Dolores Russell of Madelia; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters, Frieda Wolf and Mary Anderson of Minneapolis, Cleopha Zeug of Redwood Falls, Odelia Eckhart of Willmar, Theresa Anderson of Willmar.
He was born Aug. 13, 1907, in Wendelin, Ill, to Joseph and Cleopha (Schulte) Iffert.

Terry Treml, age 38, of Eden Prairie, formerly of Sleepy Eye, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at his home.
Terry was born on Jan. 19, 1964, in Sleepy Eye, the son of Edwin V. and Annette E. (Sturm) Treml. He grew up and graduated from St. Mary's High School in Sleepy Eye in 1982. Terry attended St. Cloud State University and graduated in 1986 with a B.S. degree in business management. Terry was the manager of Marshalls Department Store at the Mall of America in Bloomington.
He is survived by his parents, Ed and Nettie Treml of Sleepy Eye; brother Todd and wife Lisa Treml and their children, Thomas and Ben of Maple Grove; sister Liz Treml and fiancé Jamie Sobolik, both of Minneapolis; and grandmother, Angie (Schroepfer) Sturm of Springfield. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mike and Agnes (Hillesheim) Treml and Mike Sturm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, with interment to follow in the parish cemetery.
There will be a visitation on Tuesday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye, and will continue on 8 - 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
