Earl Fridley, 87, of Lamberton, died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002, at Valley View Manor in Lamberton.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lamberton, with burial in the Lamberton Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:30 - 7:30 p.m. today at the Sturm Funeral Home in Lamberton, and will continue one hour prior to service at the church on Wednesday.
He is survived by his daughter Diane Veenstra of Springfield; two grandchildren; and sister Doris Zimmerli of Wabasso.
Earl Fridley was born Jan. 29, 1915, to George and Nellie (Peterson) Fridley.

Evelyn C. Lee, 82, of Gaylord, died Sunday, Oct. 27, 2002 at Arlington Good Samaritan Center.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Gaylord with burial Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002 in Gary Cemetery, Gary, Minnesota.
Visitation is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
She is survived by sons, Gary of Colfax, Calif. and Larry of Maplewood; daughters, Donna Senske of Glencoe and Diane Louden of Brooklyn Park; a brother, Rev. Vernon Rice of Moundsview and sisters, Alpha Pilger of Farmington and Gladys Stuhaug of Fertile; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
She was born Oct. 9, 1920 in Fertile, to Anton and Mella (Ingebretson) Rice.

Bertha Kuelbs, 93, of North Mankato and formerly of Sleepy Eye, died Monday, Oct. 28, 2002, at the Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002, at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, with burial in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Sleepy Eye. Visitation will be 4 - 7 p.m. Wednesday and 9 - 10 a.m. Thursday at the former Minnesota Valley Funeral Home located at 521 Main Street West in Sleepy Eye. There will be a parish prayer service at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Minnesota Valley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Bertha is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Charlotte and Charles Kamm of Courtland, and Shirley and Elden Kamm of North Mankato; sons and daughter-in-law, William Plamann of Watkins, and James and Jean Plamann of Hammond, La.; 19 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Albert Franke, a resident of the Sleepy Eye Care Center in Sleepy Eye. Bertha was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband William Plamann in 1942; her second husband Walter Kuelbs in 1995; a daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and Sylvester Nagel; a son, Tom Plamann; a daughter-in-law, Alice Plamann; sisters, Elnora Gramentz, Minnie Hager and Mertie Steiner; and by brothers, Leonard, Fred and Art Franke.
Bertha was born Sept. 17, 1909, in Mulligan Township, Brown County, to Albert and Anna (Schmitz) Franke. She married William Plamann on Sept. 20, 1929, at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. After marriage they lived in Sleepy Eye, where she was a homemaker and also cleaned homes in the Sleepy Eye area. She married Walter Kuelbs on June 20, 1953, at theSt. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. After marriage she worked at the Danger's mink farm in Sleepy Eye. Bertha had been living with her daughter in North Mankato for the past eight years. She was a past member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye and the Sleepy Eye VFW Post Auxiliary.

Marvin Kuehl, 76, of rural Gaylord, died Monday, Oct. 28, 2002, at the Glencoe Area Health Center.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, 2002, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Auburn, with burial in the High Island Cemetery in New Auburn. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Thursday and 7:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. Friday at the Egesdal Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to service at the church on Friday.
He is survived by his wife Luella Kuehl of rural Gaylord; sons, Larry Kuehl of New Auburn, and Myron Kuehl of New Auburn; daughter Betty Ann Ewert of Arlington; six grandchildren; and three great-granchildren.
Marvin W. Kuehl was born Oct. 15, 1926, in Benn Township, McLeod County, to William and Emma (Bielke) Kuehl.

Virgil R. Lunderborg, 76, of Winthrop, died Sunday, Oct. 27, 2002, at the Winthrop Good Samaritan Center.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, at Augustana Lutheran Church in Gibbon, with burial in the Clear Lake Lutheran Cemetery in Cornish Township, Sibley County, with full military rites by the Winthrop Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until the service time at the church on Saturday. Arrangements are with the Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel of Winthrop.
He is survived by his son David Lunderborg of Minneapolis; daughter Brenda Lunderborg of Chicago; and sister VannaGene Schiroo of Winthrop.
Virgil Robert Sheldon Lunderborg was born Nov. 27, 1925, in Severance Township Sibley County, to Carl Albert and Mary (Miller) Lunderborg. He entered the U.S. Army on Jan. 30, 1945. He served his country during WW II and received an honorable discharge on Aug. 29, 1946.

George Albrecht, 76, of New Ulm, died Monday, October 28, 2002 at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm, with burial in the Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Friday and will continue from 7:30 until 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and one hour prior services at the church on Saturday.

Leona A. Bussler, 96, of Stillwater, and formerly of Winthrop, died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002, at Good Samaritan Care Center in Stillwater.
Funeral services are 1 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 3, at First Lutheran Church in Winthrop, with burial in the Winthrop Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Sunday.
Arrangements are handled by Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel of Winthrop.

Cornelia E. Dallmann, 90, of Mankato and formerly of the Courtland area, died Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002, at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital, Mankato.
Funeral services are 2 p.m., Monday, Nov. 4, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Mankato with burial in Glenwood Cemetery.
Visitation is 3-6 p.m. Sunday at Mankato Mortuary and one hour before services at church on Monday.
Memorials may be given to St Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of North Mankato or donor's choice.
Cornelia Dallmann is survived by daughter Shirley J. Warrant of Mankato; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was born June 17, 1912, in rural Courtland to Martin and Emelia (Geiger) Braudes.

Edwin H. Timm, 83, of Lamberton, died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002, at Redwood Area Hospital.
Services are 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 2, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sanborn with burial at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens, Redwood Falls.
Visitation will be 5-7:30 p.m., Friday and noon to 1:30 p.m., Saturday at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sanborn.
He is survived by a son, Lester Marion of Brandon, S.D.; daughters, Elvera Timm of Hutchinson and Normal Berg of Redwood Falls; eight grandchildren; and sister, Donna Mae Timm of Wabasso.
He was born June 4, 1919, in Jamestown, N.D. to Paul and Alma (Fennern) Timm.

Diana J. Sorheim, 85, of New Ulm died Wednesday, October 30, 2002 at the Madelia Community Hospital in Madelia. Funeral service will be 11 a.m.
Monday at the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with burial in the Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation will be 4 - 7 p.m. Sunday and will continue from 7:30 until 8:30 a.m. on Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and then for one hour prior to time of service at the church on Monday.
Diana is survived by a daughter-in-law, Sandy Sorheim of Jacksonville, Florida; granddaughters, Lisa Averill and her husband, Gil, stationed with the U.S. Navy in Sicily, Italy and Nancy Smith and her husband, Jeff, of Nashville, Tennessee; great grandchildren, Cory and Eric Averill and Jeremiah and Megan Smith. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alphie H. Sorheim, Sr.; a son, Alphie H. Sorheim, Jr.; a brother, Joey Olstad; and sisters, Pearl Shelley and Ella Kjelshus.
Diana was born on March 13, 1917 in Hanska to John and Dora Olstad. She was united in marriage to Alphie H. Sorheim on June 11, 1937 in Hanska. After marriage they farmed near Hanska until moving to New Ulm in the early 1940's. She had worked at Montgomery Wards in New Ulm for several years before becoming employed by Brown County as the Deputy County Auditor. She retired in the early 1980's. Diana had lived at Real Life Apartments in New Ulm for many years before becoming a resident at the Oak Hills Assisted Living Center in New Ulm and later a resident of the Luther Memorial Home in Madelia.
The family prefers memorials to either the St. John's Lutheran Church, the Minnesota Valley Lutheran High School, or to the Talking Books for the Blind.

Orpha Steffen, 76, of 1134 Adams Avenue in Gibbon died Wednesday, October 30, 2002 at the Immanuel - St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Sunday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Monday.
Orpha is survived by her daughter, Linda Anderson of Playa del Rey, California; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Cherry Schwartz of Owatonna, Steven and Rachel Schwartz of Fairfax Station, Virginia; grandsons, Jason Schwartz and Jonathan Schwarts both of Owatonna; brother and sister-in-law, Martin and Viola Grewe of Gibbon; sister-in-law, Verna Grewe of Gibbon; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Martin Schwartz; second husband, Norbert "Butch" Steffen; a brother, Melvin Grewe; sisters, Ruth Kiecker, Dorothy Buboltz, and Helen Schwartz.
She was born on January 18, 1926 in Moltke Township, Sibley County to Otto and Emma (Bentz) Grewe. On November 26, 1946 she married Martin Schwartz at the St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Fernando. After marriage they farmed in Grafton Township, Sibley County until the late 1960's. They moved to Gibbon in 1969. After Martin's death she married Norbert Steffen on December 2, 1972 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. After marraige they farmed in West Newton Township, Nicollet County. In 1995 she moved to Gibbon. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon, the Gibbon American Legion Auxiliary and the Gibbon Senior Citizens Quilting Group.

Emily Weiske, 92, of Hanska died Thursday, October 31, 2002 at the Luther Memorial Home in Madelia.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. James with burial to follow in Mount Hope Cemetery, St. James.
Visitation will be 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Schmucker Funeral Service in Hanska, and one hour prior to services at the church.
Emily Isabel Crousore, the daughter of Charles and Ida (Fenton) Crousore, was born May 29, 1910 in Bancroft, Iowa. The family lived in Fairmont, where she spent her youth and graduated from Fairmont High School in 1928. She was united in marriage to Elmer Weiske on September 11, 1932 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Together they made their home and farmed in Fairmont Township for several years, as well as the Northrop area for a time. They moved their family to rural Hanska in 1956. The couple farmed for another twenty years before retiring and moving into Hanska.
She became a resident of the Luther Memorial Home in Madelia in June 2002. The couple celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this September.
She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. James and was active in ladies aid. She was a member of the Watonwan and Brown County Extension Clubs; she loved to bowl and served as secretary of the association for ten years. Emily was a 4-H leader and loved to garden and sew for family. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining and being with loved ones. She loved playing canasta with family and church friends.
Survivors include her husband Elmer of Hanska; sons, Don Weiske and his wife Barbara of Spicer, Kenneth Weiske and his wife Marge of Baldwin, WI, Norm Weiske and his wife Gayle of New Ulm; eleven grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; sister, Lydia Tonne of Granada; brother-in-law, Clarence Weiske and his wife Verda of Morristown; sister-in-law, Lois Blint of Fairmont; and many nieces and nephews. Emily was preceded in death by an infant son, Richard; grandson, Brett Weiske; and two great granddaughters, Ashley Weiske and Ana Nelson.

Leona Anna (Mahnke) Bussler was born Oct.13, 1906, in Transit Township, Sibley County, to William and Anna (Bauermeister) Mahnke.

Donald R. Konz, 45 of Welcome, formerly of Sleepy Eye, died Friday, Nov. 1, 2002 at Sleepy Eye Municipal Hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
The Kramer Family Funeral Home of Welcome is handling arrangements.

Roland Vogel, 79, of rural New Ulm, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, at the Gil Mor Manor in Morgan.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm, with burial in the Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Monday and from 7:30 - 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm, and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Tuesday.
Roland is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Patricia Stoll of Bloomington, Marjorie Cook of Brookings, S.D., and Gail Stoll and her husband Charles of Omaha, Neb.; grandchildren, Audrey Barbush and her husband Jeremy of Brookings, S.D., Dan Cook of Fargo, N.D., Brenda Cook and Lisa Cook both of Brookings, S.D., Dwight Stoll and his wife Kim of Anoka, and Michael Stoll of Omaha, Neb.; great-granddaughters, Lauren Barbush and Lexi Barbush. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Erna Vogel on May 29, 1985; a sister, Mildred Radloff; and a brother, Gilbert Vogel.
He was born on Dec. 20, 1922, in Milford Township, Brown County, to Edward and Mary (Weilage) Vogel. He married Erna Albrecht on Sept. 8, 1948, at the Clements Lutheran Church in Clements. After marriage they farmed in Milford Township, Brown County. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm and was a past member of the Board of Elders at church.

Emilie C. Henrich, 93, of New Ulm, died Friday, Nov. 1, 2002, at the Gil-Mor Manor in Morgan.
Funeral service will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002, at the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Muskego, Wis., with burial in the Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery in Milwaukee, Wis. Visitation will be 5 - 7 p.m. Tuesday at the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Muskego, Wis. The Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is in charge of the arrangements.
Emilie is survived by her sons, Warren J. Henrich of New Ulm, and Charles W. Henrich of Muskego, Wis.; four grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Harry E. Koschnitzke of Greenfield, Wis.
Emilie was born Jan. 7, 1909, in Milwaukee, Wis., to Edward and Augusta (Riemer) Koschnitzke.

Christian Ahlness, 90, of Richfeild, and formerly of Godahl, died Friday, Nov. 1, 2002.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002, at Christ the Kin Lutheran Church in Bloomington, with burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Werness Brothers Funeral Home.
He is survived by his brothers, Noel Ahlness of Thousand Oaks, Calif., and Kenneth Ahlness of Walker.
Christian Ahlness was born Feb. 2, 1912, near Sleepy Eye, to Nels and Stena Ahlness. He entered the U.S. Army in 1942, and served until 1946. Ahlness was wounded at Leyte in the Philippines and received the Purple Heart.
