Orville Michaelson, 84, of Cottonwood, died Friday, Dec.13, 2002, at Weiner Memorial Hospital.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, at Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood, with burial in the Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 - 8 p.m. Thursday at Christ Lutheran Church and continues Friday one hour prior to services in Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood. Sunset Burial Association of Echo is handling the arrangements.
Orville Andrew Michaelson was born Friday, May 17, 1918, in Lucas Township, Lyon County, Minn., to Carl and Aletha (Erland) Michaelson.
He is survived by his two daughters, Charyl Heidemann and her husband Ed of Sleepy Eye, and Karyl Brower and her husband Glenn of Cottonwood. Also surviving are four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Don W. Wieman, 82, of Arlington, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002, at Arlington.
A memorial service starts at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 18, at United Methodist Church in Arlington. Burial will be be the Arlington Public Cemetery with the Arlington Honor Guard conducting military rites.
Visitation takes place from noon until time of service Wednesday at the church.
Arrangements are handled by Kolden Funeral Home of Arlington.
He is survived by wife, Marvel of Arlington; daughter, Karen Chance of Nederland, Texas, Roxanne Johnson of Mankato; son, Robert Wieman of Roscoe, Ill.; brothers, Robert Wieman of St. Paul, Earl Wieman of Arlington; sisters, Marilyn Witty of St. Peter and Jeanne Denny of Mound; and seven grandchildren.
He was born Nov. 11, 1920, in Hutchinson to Walter and Naomi (Estenson) Wieman.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1942-45.

Douglas Chapel, 72, of Grand Junction, Colo., died Dec. 7, 2002, at Family Health West. No services are planned.
Mr. Chapel was an aerospace systems engineer.
Survivors include his wife Ann Elizabeth; one son, Fred Chapel of Los Angeles; one son, Martin Chapel of Wheat Ridge State Home and Training School, Colorado, preceded him in death in December 1977; one daughter, Cynthia McCombs of New Ulm; one brother, Rodger Chapel of Lake Oswego, Ore.; and two grandchildren.

Harold Kirchoff, 92, of Stewart, died Monday, Dec. 16, 2002, at Cedar Crest Estates in Hutchinson.
Services are 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 20, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stewart with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Thursday, at Hughes Funeral Home in Stewart and continues one hour before the service Friday at the church.

Margaret Menk, 79, of St. Peter died at St. Peter Community Hospital on Monday, Dec. 16, 2002, of cancer.
Services are 10:30 a.m., Friday, Dec. 20, at Church of St. Peter in St. Peter with burial in Calvary Cemetery in St. Peter.
Visitation is 3:30-8 p.m Thursday at the church with a parish prayer service at 7 p.m., and continues one hour before the services on Friday.
St. Peter Funeral Home-Klein Chapel is handling arrangements.
She is survived by daughters, Yvonne Splettstoeser of Savage, Yvette Wenner of St. Peter; sons, Keith Menk of Sublimity, Ore., Kevin Menk of St. Peter, Kurt Menk of Arlington; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and brother, John Cronin of Franklin.
She was born Aug. 29, 1923, in rural Franklin to John and Annie ( Mertensotto) Cronin.

Donald Van Prooien, 74, of North Potomac, Md., formerly of Pine City, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, while he and his friend were retriving his boat from the lake at Black Hills Regional Park, Boyds, Md.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, 2002, at United Methodist Church in Lamberton, with burial at the Lamberton Cemetery.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Thursday at the church. Arrangements are with the Nelson-Martin Funeral Service in Redwood Falls.
Donald is survived by his wife Shirley of North Potomac, Md.; daughters, Dawn and husband Kevin Applequist, and Sonja and partner Christopher; three grandchildren; brother Roger and wife Ruth; sister Linda; and brother-in-laws, Vernon Schwanke and wife Susan, and Merlin Schwanke and wife Diane.
Donald Van Prooien was born June 14, 1928, in Le Sueur, to Tony and Ethel (Star) Van Prooien.

Lois Berdan, 82, of Fairfax, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2002, at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Friday, and 8-10:30 a.m., Saturday, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, at St. Andrew's with burial in the church cemetery.
Arrangements are handled by Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel.

Victoria M. Iverson, 74, formerly of New Ulm, died Monday, Dec. 16, 2002, at Meeker County Memorial Hospital in Litchfield.
Services are 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, at United Methodist Church in Litchfield with burial in Fort Ripley National Cemetery near Little Falls.
Visitation is 2 p.m., Friday, at United Methodist Church in Litchfield.
Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home handled arrangements.
She is survived by husband Morris of Litchfield; sons, Ron of Clever, Mo., Troy of Chaska; daughters, Lanette Rauenhorst of Eureka Springs, Ark., and Jacque Iverson of Litchfield; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was born on May 25, 1928, to George and Mamie (Schlumpberger) Zupfer, in New Ulm.

Mildred 'Millie' C. Linnihan, 75, of Waseca, and formerly of Waseca, died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002, at her home.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m., Saturday,Dec. 21, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca with burial in Calvary Cemetery, Waseca.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Friday, at McRaith Funeral Home in Waseca and continues one hour before the service Saturday at the church. There will be a rosary by the Catholic Daughters at 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Jean Tauer, 74, formerly of 1027 N. Franklin St., in New Ulm died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002, at Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m, Friday, Dec. 20, at Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of the service at the church on Friday.
Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is in charge of the arrangements.

Lois Berdan, 82, of Fairfax, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2002, at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye.
Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 21, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax with burial in the church cemetery in Cairo Township, rural Fairfax.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and continues 8-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. There will be a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. today at the church.

She is survived by husband, Roland Berdan of Fairfax; daughters, Mary Jo Smith of Pleasanton, Calif., Betty Berdan of Portland, Ore., Elaine Kelash of Minneapolis; son, Bill Berdan of Portland, Ore; and eight grandchildren.
Lois M. Berdan was born on July 8, 1920, in Fiatt, Ill., to Charles and Bertha (Gray) Brown.

Harold Kirchoff, 92, formerly of Stewart, died Monday, Dec. 16, 2002, at the Cedar Crest Estates in Hutchinson.

He is survived by his children, Crystal Branson of Dassel, James Kirchoff of Dassel, Dorothy Reinke of Dassel, Harold Kirchoff, Jr. of Glencoe, and Kathy Fabel of Hutchinson; 17 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
Harold Carl Kirchoff was born on April 25, 1910, to Adolphina (Laasch) and William Kirchoff in rural Gibbon.

Mildred 'Millie' C. Linnihan, 75, of Waseca, and formerly of Sleepy Eye, died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002, at her home.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 21, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca, with burial in Calvary Cemetery, Waseca.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at McRaith Funeral Home in Waseca and continues one hour before the service at the church.

She is survived by husband Bernard of Waseca; sons, Mark Linnihan, Michael Linnihan, Patrick Linnihan, all of Waseca; daughters, Kate Cannon of St.Louis Park, Karen Test of Plymouth; five grandchildren; brothers, Lyle Ganske of Brea, Calif, James Ganske of Sleepy Eye, Tom Ganske of Sleepy eye; sisters, Lois Flor of New Richland, Joan Jensen of Sanborn, Mary Jan Koessler of New Ulm, Maureen De Rosier of Burlington, Wis., Collette Van De Bogert of Elkhorn, Wis.
She was born April 18, 1927, in Sleepy Eye to John and Ann (Kachelmeier) Ganske.

Jean Tauer, 74, formerly of 1027 North Franklin Street in New Ulm, died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002, at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m today at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, with burial in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of the Mass at the church today. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is in charge of the arrangements.
Jean is survived by a nephew, Randy Tauer; a grandniece, Amanda Tauer, both of Washington; an aunt, Mrs. Edmund Keim of Hanska; and by cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Dennis Tauer on Sept. 8, 2001.
Jean was born March 8, 1928, in New Ulm, to John and Frances (Keim) Tauer. She graduated from the Holy Trinity High School in New Ulm.
Jean worked for more than 38 years at the Cathedral Church office. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity and the St. Elizabeth Catholic Aid Society.

Samuel A. Wittwer, 81, of Redwood Falls, died wednesday, Dec. 18, 2002, at Three lakes care Center in Northfield.
Services are 10 a.m. saturday, Dec. 21, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Redwood falls, with burial in Crestlawn Memorial gardens.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at Nelson-Martin Funeral Service in Redwood falls and continues one hour before services Saturday at the church.

Lois Berdan, 82, of Fairfax, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2002, at the Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2002, at 10:30 AM, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax with interment in St. Andrew's Catholic Cemetery in Cairo Township, rural Fairfax.
Visitation will be on Saturday, from 8 to 10:30 a.m., at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax. There will be a prayer service on Friday, at 6:30 p.m., at the church.
Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel handled arrangements.
Lois M. Berdan was born on July 8, 1920, in Fiatt, Illinois. She was the daughter of Charles and Bertha (Gray) Brown. She was raised in Canton, Illinois.
During World War II, Lois was a volunteer for the USO in Galesburg, Illinois. It was there in the hospital that she met her husband, Roland Berdan, who was recuperating from war injuries. Lois and Roland were united in marriage on May 20, 1946.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Bertha Brown; her sons, Jeff Berdan, Philip Berdan, and Dan Berdan.
Lois is survived by her husband, Roland Berdan of Fairfax; daughters, Mary Jo Smith and her husband, Thomas of Pleasanton, Calif., Betty Berdan and her husband, David Peterson of Portland, OR, and Elaine Kelash and her husband, Ken of Minneapolis; a son, Bill Berdan of Portland, OR; Grandchildren, Tyler, Mia, and Andrew Smith, Haley, Chloe, and Madeline Berdan, and Katrina and Martha Kelash.
The family would like to thank the Sisters and staff at Divine Providence for the excellent care of Lois, and for the wonderful support for Roland and the family during her extended illness. They all reach far above and beyond in their care. May God bless them all.
