Ardella Froehlich, 90, of Nicollet died Friday, January 10, 2003 at her home.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, January 13, 2002 at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet with burial in the church Cemetery, rural Nicollet.
Visitation will be on Sunday from 3 - 7 p.m. at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Nicollet and then on Monday for one hour prior to time of service at the church.
Ardella is survived by her husband, Fred "Fritz" Froehlich of Nicollet; a daughter and son-in-law, Sonja and Jim Shay of Nicollet; a son and daughter-in-law, Fred L. and Dianne Froehlich of Nicollet; four grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Lorenz Froehlich; a daughter, Joanne Froehlich; grandsons, Jamie and Nathan Shay; a sister and a brother.
Ardella was born on July 5, 1912 in Truman to Louis and Clara (Bode) Dahms. She attended grade school at the Trinity Lutheran School in Nicollet and graduated from Nicollet High School. She then attended Dr. Martin Lutheran College (DMLC) in New Ulm. After college she taught school in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin and then at the Trinity Lutheran School in Nicollet. On October 3, 1941 she married Fred "Fritz" Froehlich at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet. She worked in the Brett's Drapery Department in Mankato for several years before starting work with her husband, Fritz, at the Froehlich Jewlery Store in Nicollet. There she worked until retirement in 1990.
Ardella was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet and a member of the Ladies Guild at church.

Morris Nygaard, 87 of Fairfax, died Friday, Jan. 10, 2003 at the New Ulm Medical Center.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, at our Savior's Lutheran Church in Fairfax. Interment will be in the Hauges Cemetery in Camp Township, Renville County, at a later date.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday and 7:30-8 a.m. Tuesday at the Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax, and one hour prior to the time of services at the church on Tuesday.
Morris is survived by his son, Terry Nygaard of Fairfax, and a sister, Olga Tate of San Jose, Calif.
Morris Clifford Nygaard was born Dec. 27, 1915, in Fairfax to Martin and Carrie (Frickson) Nygaard.
Morris entered the U.S. Army in November 1943. He served his country during WWII and received an honorable discharge in March 1946.

Frieda Kohls, 87, of Redwood Falls and Morgan, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, at Gil-Mor Manor, Morgan.
Services are 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 15., at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Morgan, with burial in the Redwood Falls Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-7:30 p.m., Tuesday at Nelson Martin Funeral service in Redwood Falls and continues one hour before the service Wednesday at the church.
She is survived by son Ron Kohls of Redwood Falls; daughter Gloria Lindell of Arlington, Texas; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
She was born Aug. 16, 1915, in Evan to Jens and Magda (Hansen) Christensen.

Leona Henning, 92, of Morgan, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2003, at Gil-Mor Manor in Morgan.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Morgan, with burial in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Morgan.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Wednesday an Nelson-Martin Funeral Service in Morgan and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
She is survived by her brother Herbert Henning of rural Morgan; and sister Loraine Henning of rural Morgan.
Leona Henning was born Sept. 30, 1910, in Sherman Township, Redwood County, to William and Bertha (Peske) Henning.

Clayton W. Muller, 84, of Winthrop, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, at the Winthrop Good Samaritan Center.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m Wednesday, Jan. 15, at Faith United Church in Winthrop, with burial in the Winthrop Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30-; 11 a.m. Wednesday at Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the time of services at the church on Wednesday.
He is survived by his wife Marvis Muller of Winthrop; stepchildren, Carl Oswald of Lafayette, Inez Oswald of New Ulm, Bev Beglau of Winthrop, Ruth Oswald of Lafayette, Gloria Normandin of North Mankato, and Dianne Eastman of New Ulm; nine stepgrandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Audrey Hall of Winthrop, and Barbara Bratsch of Gaylord; and brothers, Elwyn Muller of Elk River, and Harley Muller of Coon Rapids.
Clayton William Muller was born Sept. 27, 1918, in Lake Crystal, to George and Callie (Addleman) Muller.

Donald Bode -- Services were held for Donald J. Bode, 73, of Tempe, Ariz., formerly of Courtland, at Tempe Mortuary Chapel, with burial at Green Acres Cemetery in Tempe.
Donald John Bode was born May 12, 1929, in Courtland, to Samuel and Sophie (Schwartz) Bode. He graduated from Nicollet High School in 1947, and attended Dr. Martin Luther College for two years in New Ulm.
Bode was in the U.S. Army for two years and was the Postmaster of Courtland for 27 years.
He is survived by his wife Anita Bode; son and daughter-in-law Douglas and Linda Bode; daughter and son-in-law Doreen and Mike Mattes; grandchildren, Tosha and Garret Gordon, Brandon Abel, and Priscilla Bode; sisters, Connie Mielke and Elfrieda Thom; brother Elton Bode; sister-in-law Naomi Budahn; brother and sister-in-law Vic and Lorna Senne; and many nieces and nephews.
He will be sadly missed by all.

Elizabeth A. Klein, 72, of Sleepy Eye, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2003 at Sleepy Eye Care Center.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-7:30 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30-10 a.m. Thursday at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye. A parish prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
She is survived by her sister, Joyce Zurick of Norco, Calif.
She was born Nov. 16, 1930 in Sleepy Eye to Mathilda (Herr) and Fredrick Klein.

Wilbur L. Best, 92, of Morgan, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, at Gil-Mor Manor in Morgan.
Services are 10:30 a.m., Saturday at United Methodist Church in Morgan with burial in the Morgan city Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m., Friday, at Nelson-Martin Funeral Service in Morgan.
He is survived by sons, Kenneth of Murrieta, Calif, Clifford of Bloomington, Lyle of Rice; daughters, Beverly Kish of Deltafield, Wis., and Bernice Miller of Richfield; 12 grandchildren; and eight grandchildren.
He was born Sept. 25, 1910, on the family farm near Princeville, Ill., to W. Alexander and Sarah (Yates) Best.
Memorials may be made to Gil-Mor Manor, Morgan.

Myrtle Meyer, 78, of 1415 North Minnesota Street in New Ulm, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003, at her home.
Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm, with burial in the City Cemetery in New Ulm. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Friday and 7:30 - 11 a.m. Saturday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm, and will continue for one hour prior to the time of the service at the church on Saturday.
Myrtle is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Geraldine and Gerald Steffen of Sanborn, Ramona and Timothy Potter of Elizabethton, Tenn., and Karen and Steven Gilreath of Glasgow, Ken.; son and daughter-in-law Gene and Diane Meyer of Woodlawn, Tenn.; grandchildren, Jesse, Nicole, Joshua, Deborah, Donald, Anja, Adam, and AnnaBeth; great-grandson Michael; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marvel and Elton Vorwerk of Gibbon, and Lyla and Pastor Ralph Baur of New Ulm; and brother Roman Jaus of Gibbon. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harvey Meyer on Nov. 2, 1987; and a sister-in-law, Lois Jaus.
Myrtle was born on Feb. 22, 1924, in Gibbon, to Martin and Hannah (Lieske) Jaus. She graduated in 1942 from the Gibbon High School in Gibbon. In 1942, she attended the Abbott School of Nursing in Minneapolis and graduated in 1945 as a registered nurse. While in nursing school she was in the Army Nurse Cadet Corps.
On Aug. 18, 1946, she married Harvey Meyer at the St. Peters Lutheran Church in Moltke Township, Sibley County. She worked at the Union Hospital in New Ulm from 1945 - 1947, then from 1947 - 1951 she worked as a nurse in Gibbon, and then returned to the Union Hospital in New Ulm from 1967 until she retired in 1988.
She was a member of the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm, and enjoyed doing volunteer work after her retirement.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the St. John's Lutheran Church.

Doris E. Burt, age 83, of Mankato, and formerly of St. Clair, died Thursday, January 16, 2003 at Mankato House Health Care Center.
Funeral services 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Mankato, Rev. Mary Iverson, officiating. Burial in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Mankato.
Visitation 4-8 p.m. Monday at Mankato Mortuary. Visitation continues one hour before services at church on Tuesday. Memorials are preferred to Bethlehem Lutheran Church or St. Clair American Legion.
Doris was born February 11, 1919 in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada to Otto and Mary (Stay) Kittleson. During her youth, they moved to Mankato, where she attended Mankato Schools. She married Charles E. Burt in Mankato on September 20, 1936.
Doris worked for Mankato Poultry and Farm Supply for many years. She attended Bethlehcm Lutheran Church and was a member of St. Clair American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bingo.
Survivors include eight children, Beverly Hinkel of Tucson, Arizona, Charles Burt Jr. and his wife, Patricia of Eagle Lake, Daniel Burt and his wife, Darlean of Mankato, Charlene Grinnen and her husband, Richard of Owatonna, Sandra Lynch and her husband, Robert of Eagan, Steven Burt and his wife, Diana of New Ulm, Bruce Burt and his wife, Kathy of rural St Peter, Thomas Burt and his wife, Sandra of St. Paul; 20 grandchildren; 20 greatgrandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1976, two infant sons, two brothers, two sisters, and a great-great granddaughter.

Stephen Anderson, 48, of rural Hanska died Thursday, January 16, 2003 at his home. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Christ the King Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Rev. Jon Anderson officiating. Interment will be 9:00 a.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Hanska.
Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to service at the church. Schmucker Funeral Home of New Ulm is handling the arrangements.
Stephen Richard Anderson, the son of Ardmoure and Ramona (Olson) Anderson, was born September 9, 1954 in Key West, FL. The family lived in Connecticut and New Jersey while his father served in the military. They moved to Hanska in 1968. Steve graduated from New Ulm High School in 1972. He attended Mankato State College where he studied Law Enforcement. He married Pam Forster February 2, 1980 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm. Steve worked as chief of police in Comfrey and then was a deputy with the Brown County Sheriff's Department. He was living on the home farm at the time of his death. He was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in New Ulm.
Survivors include children, Kate Anderson of Moorhead, Paul Anderson of New Ulm, Kelly Anderson of Moorhead; sisters, Sharon Finstad and her husband Howard of Hanska, Linda Larson and her husband David of Hanska; brother Gary Anderson and his wife Rosanne of Belle Plaine; nieces, and nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Leo Frederickson.

Leon "Red" Schwecke, 63, of Winthrop, died on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
Mass of Christian burial will be on Monday, Jan. 20, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Winthrop, with burial with full military rites by the Winthrop Honor Guard, in the Winthrop Cemetery.
Visitation will be on 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30 ­ 8:30 a.m. Monday at the Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop, and one hour prior to services at the church. The rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. and there will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., both on Sunday at the funeral chapel.
He was born Jan. 27, 1939, in New Ulm, to John and Margaret (Mattes) Schwecke. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves in 1957-1963.
He is survived by his wife, Jan of Winthrop; daughters Julie Dummer of Lafayette, Michelle Maltby of Ham Lake, Angela Pollard of Ham Lake and Susan Schwecke of Champlin; seven grandchildren, brothers, Gary of Kansas, John of Champlin and James of Mauldin, S.C.; and sisters, Joan Jandl of Eden Prairie and Carol Trebelhorn of Marine on St. Croix.

Judy A. Thorsen, 56, of Rochester, died Friday, Jan. 17, 2003 at Seasons Hospice in Rochester.
Services will be 10:30 am. Monday at Hilltop United Methodist Church in Mankato. Burial will be in Tivoli Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Mankato Mortuary and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
Survivors include her husband, Dennis Thorsen of Rochester; four daughters, Amy Voorhees of Rosemount, Bobbi Jo Drum of Seattle, Wash., Kari Thorsen of Madison, Wis., and Kate Thorsen of Minneapolis; twin grandchildren; her mother, Esther Lang of Roseau; and a brother, Harold "Bud" Lang of Roseau.
Judy was born April 19, 1946 in Mankato to Harold and Esther (Karstens) Lang. She taught special education classes in New Ulm, where she lived from 1971 to 1981.

Glenn Buntrock, 63, of Winthrop, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, Minn.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003, at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bismarck Township. Interment will be in the Winthrop Cemetery, with full military rites by the Winthrop Honor Guard.
Visitation will be Monday from 4-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 7:30-8:30 a.m. at the Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the services at the church on Tuesday.
Glenn Delford Buntrock was born June 9, 1939, in Bismarck Township, Minnesota. He was the son of Herbert and Della (Habeck) Buntrock. Glenn was baptized as an infant and later was confirmed in his faith as a youth at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bismarck Township. Glenn received his education in Winthrop and graduated from Winthrop High School in 1957. In 1956, Glenn enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves. He served his country and received an honorable discharge in 1964.
Glenn was united in marriage with Sue Whitney on Aug. 25, 1962, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Winthrop. This union was blessed with two sons and two daughters. Glenn and Sue made their home in Winthrop where they celebrated over 40 years of marriage together.
Glenn worked at Shaw Tiling in Gaylord, Lloyd Lumber in Mankato, and the Winthrop Milk Plant for some time before owning and operating a tree and stump removal business. He also owned and operated the Winthrop Bowling Alley from 1973 until recently selling it in 2000. Glenn also drove school bus for Winthrop and GFW since 1974.
Glenn was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Bismarck Township. He was also a member of Winthrop American Legion Post 314, the Winthrop Lions Club, the Winthrop Honor Guard, and the Winthrop Area Chamber of Commerce where he was one of the 2002 Honorees. Glenn was also a retired member of the Winthrop Fire Department.
Glenn enjoyed hunting earlier in his life. More recently, he enjoyed dancing, bingo, golf, bowling, horseshoes, softball, and playing cards.
Glenn is survived by his wife,Sue Buntrock of Winthrop; sons, Dan Buntrock and his wife Patti of Hutchinson, Bill Buntrock and his partner Eileen Dording, of Casper, Wyo.; daughters, Jennie Rettmann and her husband Mike of Winthrop, Minn., Jackie Rasmussen and her husband Scott of Avon, Minn.; grandchildren, Seth, Hailey, Brittany, Jordan, and Cassidy; sister Dorothy Grack; one niece; eight nephews, other relatives and friends.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Della Buntrock.
