Elsie Penk, 93, of Hutchinson, formerly of rural Gibbon, died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2003, at Burns Manor Nursing Home in Hutchinson.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 1, at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Fernando, with burial in St. Matthew's Lutheran Cemetery in Fernando.
Visitation will be 8-11 a.m. Saturday at the Dobratz-Hantge Downtown Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson and one hour prior to the service at the church.
She is survived by her daughters, Darlene Hennessey of Glencoe, and LouAnn Kosak of Sonoma, Calif; five grandchildren; one step granddaughter; three great grandchildren; and brothers, Edwin Kloempken of Arlington and Edgar Kloempken of Glencoe.
Elsie Sophie Anna (Kloempken) Penk was born Oct. 27, 1909, in Round Grove Township, McLeod County, to Henry and Ida (Gehrke) Kloempken.

Hillary A. 'Hilly' Gitter, 82, of Sleepy Eye and formerly of St. George died Friday, February 28, 2003 at the Sleepy Eye Care Center in Sleepy Eye.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM Monday, March 3, 2003 at the St. George Catholic Church in West Newton Township, Nicollet County with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30 - 10 a.m. Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. The St George Catholic Aid Council will pray the rosary at 5:30 p.m. and there will be a parish prayer service at 6:30 p.m., both Sunday at the funeral home.
Hilary is survived by his wife, Marie Gitter a resident of the Countryside Apartments in Sleepy Eye; a daughter and son-in-law, Lorraine and James Mathiowetz of Morton; sons and daughters-in-law, Benedict and Eunice Gitter of Fairfax, James and Carla Gitter of New Ulm, and Kenneth Gitter of Robbinsdale; sixteen grandchildren; one great grandson; a sister and brother-in-law, Cecelia and John Tauges of Gibbon; and a sister-in-law, Agnes Gitter of Gibbon. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and five sisters.
Hilary was born November 1, 1920 in West Newton Township, Nicollet County to Joseph and Mary (Schwab) Gitter. He married Marie Zollner on May 14, 1946 at the St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax. After marriage they farmed in West Newton Township, Nicollet County until retiring in 1985 and moving to New Ulm. Hilary had been a nursing home resident since 1996. He was a lifelong member of the St. George Catholic Church and the St. George Catholic Aid Council.

Shirlene Fullerton, 66, of 1317 South Franklin St., New Ulm, died suddenly Saturday morning, March 1, 2003, at the New Ulm Medical Center with her loving husband Bob at her side.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2003, at the First United Methodist Church in New Ulm, with Rev. Dean Nosek officiating. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at Schmucker Funeral Service in New Ulm, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Shirlene was born April 27, 1936, in New Ulm, to Walter and Bertha (Hoffmann) Ulrich, Sr.
She lived with her family in Klossner and attended New Ulm public schools, graduating from New Ulm High School in 1954. On Dec. 28, 1957, she married Robert Fullerton in New Ulm. They made their home in New Ulm, where she worked at Kraft Foods for 23 years, retiring in 1994. In retirement, she worked as a Mary Kay Cosmetics consultant for several years. Shirlene was a member of the First United Methodist Church of New Ulm, serving in many ways through the years.
Shirlene is survived by her husband of more than 45 years; sons and daughters-in-law, James Fullerton and his fiancee Beverly Campbell of Klossner, Rick and Judy Fullerton of Chaska, and Randy and Pam Fullerton of New Ulm; daughter and son-in-law Connie and Pat Wrase of Minneapolis; seven grandchildren, Leah, Jade, Ryan, Justina, Kala, Amy and Jared; sisters, Joan Fenske and her husband Clifford of Glencoe, Beverly Hoffman and her husband Clifford of LaSalle; brothers, Tom Ulrich and his wife Carol of New Ulm; sisters-in-law, Sandy Ulrich of Winthrop, Geri Gewerth and her husband Herb of Fairmont, Joan Norton and her husband Bob of Las Vegas, Nev., Kathy Burczyk and her husband Ray of St. Cloud, Carol Terhaar of St. Cloud, Patsy Kropuenske and her husband Duane of Albertville, Bonnie Falvey of Las Vegas, Nev., and Sheila Schaefer and her husband Gary of San Rafael, Calif.; brothers-in-law, Ronny Fullerton and his wife Marilyn of Fairmont, and Larry Fullerton and his wife Jane of Welcome; aunts uncles, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Shirlene was preceded in death by her parents; and infant sister Lila Marie; infant brother Robert; and brother Walter Ulrich, Jr.

Walter 'Wally' A. Forster
Services are 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 5, 2003 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye with burial in Home Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m., Tuesday and 7:30-9 a.m., Wednesday at Sturm Funeral Home of Sleepy Eye. A parish prayer service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Helen of Sleepy Eye; sons, John of Crawfordsville, Ind. and Bob of Park Rapids; daughters, Beverly Cleary of Plymouth and Marian Belle of Minneapolis; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was born Jan. 6, 1907, in Sleepy Eye to Martin and Margaret Forster.

Kenneth E. Brand - A memorial service for Kenneth E. Brand, 70, of Glenview, Ill., will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, April 26, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm.
Brand, a native of New Ulm, died Dec. 21, 2002.

Janet Kramer, 67, of Springfield, died Monday, March 3, 2003 at St. John Lutheran Home, Springfield.
Services are 12:30 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2003 at St. John Lutheran Home Chapel in Springfield with burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Tracy.
Visitation is 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Thursday at the chapel.
She is survived by her sons, Paul of Sauk Rapids and Greg of Sartell; daughters Michel Osgood of Amery, Wis., Theresa Weidenhamer of Blaine, Patricia Maahs of Coon Rapids and Jacqueline Ostreich of Belle Plaine; 14 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; sisters Sandy Radel of Spicer and Carolyn King of Sanborn.
She was born April 24, 1935 to Barton and Leona (Meyer) Pederson in Springfield.

Victor 'Butch' Hoffman, 62, of Ormsby and formerly of St. James, died Sunday, March 2, 2003, at his home.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 6, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, St. James with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery, St. James.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, and 7:30-8:30 a.m., Thursday, at the Sturm Funeral Home, St. James and Thursday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by his wife Julene; daughters, Debra Molitor of Butterfield and Nancy Krueger of Fremont, Neb.; four grandchildren; sisters, Eldora Asendorf of Fairfax, LeAnna Aarsvold of Lake Park and Edna Metzen of New Ulm.
He was born July 6, 1940, to Philip and Edna (Nibbe) Hoffman in Watonwan County. He served in the Army National Guard from 1962-1968.

Rosella M. Ubl, 82, of Shakopee, formerly of Sleepy Eye, died Monday, March 3, 2003, at St. Francis Hospital in Shakopee.
Funeral service will be 12 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2003, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Prior Lake, with Fr. Richard Banker and Assisting Deacon Russ Shupe officiating. Internment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. today at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home in Prior Lake. Pallbearers are Tom Farrell, Jamie Creighton, Shawn Teague and Jason Farrell. Arrangements are with the Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home in Prior Lake.
Rosella is survived by her children, Gerald (Bonnie) Ubl of Midlothian, Va., Thomas (Darlene) Ubl of New Ulm, Janet Farrell-Balfe of Apple Valley, Pauline (Bernard) Havelka of St. Francis, Beatrice (Delbert) Malenke of Shakopee, Mary Jane (Clint) Van Allen of Hastings, Darlene (Richard) Stage of St. Croix Falls, Wis., Lowell (Carrie) Ubl of Peoria, Ill., Deborah Schmidt of Shakopee, Rosemary (Michael) Baggett of Shakopee, and Marlene (Michael) Ash of Waunakee, Wis.; 31 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; brothers Donald (Donna) Hauser of Hammond, Wis., and Jerome (Alice) Hauser of New Ulm; and sisters, Betty (Paul) Kubizewski of Porter, and Shirley (Jim) Carrier of Waconia.
She was preceded in death by her husband Alphonse Ubl on Feb. 16, 1999; parents Charles J. and Mary (Sperl) Hauser; six brothers; and one sister.
Rosella was born March 21, 1920, to Charles J. and Mary (Sperl) Hauser in Sleepy Eye. She married Alphonse Ubl on Feb. 12, 1941, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm.

Geraldine 'Goldie' Dallmann, 79 of St. Peter, and formerly of Nicollet, died Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at the St. Peter Healthcare Center in St. Peter.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, March 8, 2003, at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet with burial in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in rural Nicollet.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Friday and 7:30 - 10 a.m. Saturday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. The visitation will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at church on Saturday.
Goldie is survived by her daughters, Virginia "Suzie" Dill of New Ulm, and Jessie Sanchez of Inver Grove Heights; a son, William "Bill" Dallmann and his fiancée Darcy Christensen, both of New Ulm; grandchildren, Lisa Meinzer, Nevada McGee, Westley Dill, Regina Dallmann, Andrea Dallmann, Jarod Dallmann, James Dallmann and William Dallmann Jr.; 10 great-grandchildren; and brother and sister-in-law Charles and Ruth Rivers of Lipan, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Hugo Dallmann on Dec. 29, 1997; a son-in-law, Raymond Sanchez in 2001; one brother; and one sister.
Goldie was born Nov. 6, 1923, in Port Arthur, Texas, to William C. and Laura N. (Cathy) Rivers. She attended Polytechny High School in Fort Worth, Texas. She married Hugo Dallmann on Nov. 15, 1946, in Norwood, Iowa. After marriage they moved to Nicollet, where she worked various jobs in the Nicollet area including eight years at the Schmidt's Meat Market in Nicollet. She was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet and the Nicollet American Legion Auxiliary for 35 years, where she was a past president and secretary.

Violet Leske, 85, of rural Hector, died Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at Bird Island Manor Healthcare Center.
Services are 2 p.m., Saturday, March 8, at Swedlanda Lutheran Church, rural Hector, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
Arrangements are with Hughes Funeral Home, Hector.
She is survived by her children, Cynthia Hopp of Olivia, Marvin Jr. of St. Bonifacius and June Mertz of Olivia; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild; brother, Arnold Johnson of Woodland, Wash., and a sister, Elaine Larges of Baltimore, Md.
She was born June 26, 1917, in Palmyra Township, Renville County, Minnesota, to Emil and Augusta (Anderson) Johnson.
Arrangements are with Hughes Funeral Home of Hector.

Hazel Moll, 81, of Longville, formerly of Sleepy Eye, died Monday, March 3, 2003, at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 7, 2003, at Faith United Methodist Church in Sleepy Eye, with Pastor Donn Rakow officiating. Interment will be in the Home Cemetery in Sleepy Eye.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m., today and 7:30 - 8:30 a.m., Friday at the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye, and will continue one hour prior to service at the church on Friday.
Hazel was born on Nov. 19, 1921, in Kenyon, the daughter of Elsie (Tews) and William Koberstein. She grew up in Sleepy Eye, where she attended District 36 country school, the same school all of her children attended.
On August 26, 1939, Hazel was united in marriage to Harold Moll at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Sleepy Eye. This union was blessed with eight children. They farmed in the Sleepy Eye area until 1978, when they retired and moved to Longville. Hazel also worked at the Del Monte Corporation and in area residential homes as a nurse's aide. She was active in her church's ladies group, Bible study, and served many years as a Sunday school teacher. Hazel's happiest times were when she was surrounded by her family.
She is survived by her husband Harold Moll of Brainerd; children, Duane and wife Bonnie Moll of Plymouth, Kenneth and wife Evonne Moll of St. James, Dale Moll of Holdingford, Leon Moll of Lino Lakes, Norma Hudson of Little Falls, and Ronda and husband Brian Mathiowetz of Sleepy Eye; 25 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Janet; and a daughter, Lila.

Eleanor Otto, 77, of rural Arlington, died Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at her home in rural Arlington.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 8, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Arlington, with burial in the Gaylord Municipal Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. today and 7:30 - 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord, and will continue one hour prior to service at the church on Saturday.
Eleanor is survived by her husband Harold Otto of rural Arlingon; son George Otto of Gaylord; daughter Barbara Otto of Gaylord; and brother Michael Kauffmann of rural Arlington.
Elenor was born Dec. 1, 1925, in Green Isle Township, Sibley County, to Henry and Catherine (Robeck) Kauffmann.

Leona Stewart, 83, of Annadale, Va., and formerly of New Ulm, died Jan. 14, 2003, at the Fairfield County Hospital.
Services were held at 3 p.m. Monday March 3, 2003, at the Fort Myer Old Chapel with internment at Arlington National Cemetery.
She is survived by stepdaughter Lauresa A. Ecker of Stroudsburg, Pa.; sister Helen V. Anderson of New Ulm; nephews and their wives, Sheldon and Anne Rieke and Kenneth and Barbara Rieke all of New Ulm; four step-grandchildren; and six great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clyde M. Stewart; stepson Thomas Stewart; mother Laura Rose Feller; brothers, Harold and Leland Feller; and sister Lucille Rieke.
She was born Dec. 19, 1919, in New Ulm, to Peter and Laura Rose (Stern) Feller. After attending school through the eighth grade, she worked various jobs until 1942, when she started working for the War Department Corps of Engineers. She was soon transferred to their Little Rock, Ark., office. In 1950, she transferred to the Veterans Administration offices in Washington, D.C. She worked there until her retirement in 1974. That same year she married Clyde Stewart of Annadale, Va.
She enjoyed traveling and tending her extensive flower gardens.

Byron 'Barney' A. Tessmer, 73, of Cobden, died Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 8, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sleep Eye, with burial at Home Cemetery, Veterans Memorial Garden in Sleepy Eye, with full military honors.
Visitation will be 4 - 7:30 p.m. today at the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye, and will continue one hour prior to service at the church on Saturday.
Byron is survived by his wife, Lois Tessmer of Cobden; son Rick Tessmer of Cobden; daughters, Tammy Tessmer of Sleepy Eye, Rhonda Groebner of Clements and Dawn Hagert of Cobden; and one grandson.
Byron A. Tessmer was born April 1, 1929, in Sleepy Eye, to Gladys (Romberg) and Walter Tessmer.

Byron Tessmer funeral postponed. Due to weather conditions, the funeral for Byron "Barney" Tessmer that was scheduled for today will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. at the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye, with burial at the Home Cemetery in Sleepy Eye. Visitation will be at the church, noon to 1 p.m. on Monday. Arrangements with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.

Florence M. Drexler, age 93, of Springfield, MN died on Thursday, March 6, 2003 at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield, MN.
Visitation will be Sunday, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Monday from 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM at the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield, MN. There will be a Parish Prayer Sevice on Sunday evening at 5:30 PM at the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield and a CCW Rosary on Monday at 9:30 AM at St. Rapael's Catholic Church in Springfield, MN. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Raphael's Catholic Church on Monday, March 10, 2003 at 10:00 AM with Father Dennis Labat officiating. Interment will be in St. Raphael's Catholic Cemetery in Springfield, MN.
Florence was born April 17, 1909 in Sundown Township in Redwood County to John and Amelia (Rothmeier) Groebner. She attended country school and helped her parents on the farm. On September 19, 1933 she married Valerius Drexler at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Clements, MN. Florence participated in St. Joan and St. Raphael Mission Groups, was a member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield, a member of the 500 Marathon Club, Sheep Head Club and Senior Citizens Club. She was the Senior Citizens Club Secretary for 2 years, worked with Home Aid for 19 years as a Senior Citizen Driver, cared for the Sanctuary for 9 years, belonged to the Lady Foresters, St. Boniface Society, and was a member of the CCW. She enjoyed making quilts,playing cards, gardening, and playing Bingo.
She is survived by her 2 daughters - Rose and husband Steven Hendley of Cleveland, MN and Mary Ann Harter of Port St. Louis, FL; 5 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; a brother - Anthony and wife Teresa Groebner of Clements, MN; 3 sisters -Adeline and husband Adolph Nelson of Clements, MN, Eldora and husband Robert Kraemer of St. Paul, MN, and Irene Culhane of Minneapolis, MN; and a sister- in-law - Arlene Groebner of Springfield, MN.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Valerius (Larry) Drexler; a daughter - Carol Germaine Drexler; a great grandson; 2 brothers - Henry Groebner and Leo and wife Eleanor Groebner; 2 sisters - Veroncia and husband John Gostonczik, and Lucy and husband George Mesinger; and a brother-in-law - Joseph Culhane.
Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield.
