Ella T. Halverson, 89, of St. Peter, died June 7, 2003, at St. Peter Community Health Care Center.
Services will be 2 p.m., on Tuesday, June 10, at Norseland Lutheran Church in Norseland. Pastor Craig Ferkenstad officiating. Burial in Norseland Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday one hour prior to services. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Ella was born on Feb., 26, 1914, in New Sweden Township, Nicollet County, to Lars and Christine (Redning) Tostenson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Norseland Lutheran Church. She attended a one-room country grade school, Mankato Bethany Lutheran High School and the St. Paul University Farm School for Home Economics. Ella was employed by the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company as a switchboard operator at New Sweden and Lafayette. She also worked at the Mankato long distance office. Ella married Edgar Halverson on November 24, 1952, in St. Peter. They lived in rural New Ulm during the summers and in St. Petersburg, Florida in the winter months. Ella enjoyed traveling, music, Scrabble, her friends, and babysitting.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Norma Tostenson of Gaylord, and several nieces and nephews.
Ella was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edgar in 1980, and five brothers.

Deanna Cole Reynolds, 64, of Redwood Falls, died Friday, June 6, 2003, at Redwood Falls Hospital.
Services are 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 11, at Redwood Valley Funeral Home. Burial will be in Nettiewyynnt Cemetery, Gayles, Township, Minnesota.
Visitation is noon until time of service Wednesday.
She is survived by brother, Robert Reynolds; and sister, Pat Rehwaldt.
She was born July 27, 1938, in Walnut Grove, Minn., to Allanson and Mabelle (Cole) Reynolds.

Lloyd E. Schumacher, 79, of Springfield, died Thursday, June 5, 2003, at the Springfield Hospital.
Services are 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 10, in the military section of the Springfield City Cemetery.
He was born June 26, 1923, in Germantown Township, Cottonwood County, to Harry W. and Nellie Mae (Anderson) Schumacher.
He served 20 years in the U.S. Navy.

Esther L. Aschenbrenner, 89, of New Ulm, died Sunday, June 9, 2003, at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 11, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 9-11 a.m., Wednesday, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.
Esther is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Linus and Elaine Simmet of Mankato; a granddaughter, Chris Freyberg and her husband Robert of Mankato; great-grandchildren, Rebecca Verr and her husband Robert of Mankato and Bryan Freyberg of Duluth; a great-great- granddaughter, Bailey Verr of Mankato; and a sister, Florence Gleisner of New Ulm.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Harold Simmet and Ignatius Aschenbrenner.
Esther was born September 2, 1913, in New Ulm to Joseph and Elizabeth (Block) Lingenhag. She married Harold Simmet in 1933 in New Ulm. She then married I. O. "Dots" Aschenbrenner on September 18, 1941, in New Ulm. She worked at the New Ulm Grocery Company from 1949 to 1961. She was a member of the Cathedral Parish in New Ulm.

Isaac Davis, 90, of St. James, died Monday, June 9, 2003, at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center in St. James.
Services are 1:30 p.m., Thursday, June 12, at the First Lutheran Church in St. James with burial in Riverside Cemetery in Madelia.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, at the Sturm Funeral Home in St. James and continues from 7:30-11:30 a.m., Thursday, at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanora; brother,
Glen Davis of Lancester, Calif.; sisters, Evelyn Peters of St. James, Dorretta Brown of Salem, Ore.
Isaac was born on January 19, 1913 in Ellsworth of McLean County in Illinois to Wilmer and Minnie (Schultz) Davis.
He served in the military during World War II.

Leona Goltz, 91, of Hanska died Saturday, June 7, 2003 at the Luther Memorial Home in Madelia.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Hanska, with Rev. Marcia Hegna officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Schmucker Funeral Service in New Ulm, and one hour prior to service at the church.
Marcella Leona Hanson, the daughter of Louis and Mary (Dahl) Hanson, was born March 21, 1912 in Madelia Township, Watonwan County, Minnesota. As a child, she attended rural District 11 school and Madelia High School. She married Gilbert Bakken August 30, 1939 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Madelia. They made their home in Hanska where they worked for Art and Ida Markeson's Gambles Store until 1961. That year they opened the Skogmos Store which they owned and operated in Hanska until 1981. Her husband died in 1985. Leona married Ivar Goltz November 4, 1989 at Zion Lutheran Church in Hanska. They continued to live in Hanska where she was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, Ivar; daughter, Mary Gayle Anderson and her husband Wayne of Mankato; son, Gary Bakken of Mankato; stepdaughter, Ilene Haugen and her husband Leland of Comfrey; stepson, Virgil Goltz and his wife Rae of Comfrey; 4 grandchildren, Michele Butt and her husband Kevin, Micheal Anderson and his wife Michelle, Wade Anderson and his wife Nikki, Chad Anderson; 6 great grandchildren; 11 step grandchildren; 5 stepgreat-grandchildren; brother, Arden Hanson and his wife Betty of Roseville; sister-in-law, Nelda Hanson of Madelia; nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband Gilbert, Leona was preceded in death by her brother Arlo Hanson and stepdaughter Patricia Schlottman.

LuVern Hahn, 79, of Marshall, formerly of Madelia, died Sunday, June 8, 2003 at Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Madelia with burial in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Pilgrim Funeral Home, Madelia and Wednesday at the funeral home from 9-10:15 a.m.

Doris B. Meech, 64, of Winthrop, formerly of Arlington, died Sunday, June 8, 2003 at Sibley Medical Center, Arlington.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday, June 12, 2003 at Peace Lutheran Church in Arlington with burial in Arlington Public Cemetery.
Visitation is Thursday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
Arrangements are with Kolden Funeral Home, Arlington.
He is survived by two sons, Brad of New Ulm and Bryan of Arlington; daughters, Melanie Schultz of Winthrop, Mary Farnick of Arlington, Marcy Gongoll of Waconia and Marilyn Ronning of Arlington; five brothers, all from out of state; and nine grandchildren.
She was born March 26, 1939 in Ladysmith, Wis. to Rev. Edwin and Olivia (Krueger) Kuerschner.

Victoria Wacker, 90, of Watertown, Wis., was freed from all earthly suffering and taken to her eternal home with her Savior on Sunday, June 8, 2003, while a resident of Marquardt Memorial Manor, Watertown.
Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2003, at at St. Luke's Ev. Lutheran Church in Watertown, Wis., with Rev. Anthony Schultz and Rev. Mark Gartner officiating. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery in Watertown.
Visitation will be 12 p.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are with the Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown, Wis.
Victoria is survived by her brother Armin (Esther) Schuetze of Watertown, Wis.; numerous nephews and nieces, among them Bethel and Franklin Zabell of Watertown, Wis.; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Carl Wacker on Feb. 27, 1998; two brothers and two sisters.
Victoria E. Wacker was born Feb. 10, 1913, in Ellsworth Township near Litchfield, to Pastor Martin and Wilhemina (Albrecht) Schuetze.
She married Carl Wacker, a college classmate, in 1981, who then lived in Tacoma, Wash. Carl and Victoria moved to Watertown in 1986.
In 1933, Victoria graduated from Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm. She taught in Lutheran schools in Cudahy, Tomah, Burlington and La Crosse, Wis. From 1955 - 1962 she taught at Pilgrim Lutheran School in Minneapolis. Then from 1962 - 1979 she served as a student teacher supervisor at Doctor Martin Lutheran College.
She was a member of St. Luke's Ev. Lutheran Church in Watertown and and served on the Ladies Aid.
Memorials may directed to Trinity-St. Luke's Lutheran School, the Wisconsin Ev. Lutheran Synod or to the charity of one's choice.

Neola M. Amsden, 78, of Comfrey, died Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield.
Services are 10:30 a.m., Thursday, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Comfrey with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Wednesday; and continues 7:30-10 a.m., Thursday at Sturm Funeral Home in Comfrey. There will be a parish prayer service at 6 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
She is survived by husband Les of Comfrey; son Mike Amsden of Crosslake; daughter Rose Haseleu of Springfield; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Lula Marz of Springfield;
She was born June 1, 1925, in Bashaw Township, Brown County, to John and Susan (Cullen) Schunk.

Virgil J. Deibele, 80, of Sleepy Eye, died Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at Sleepy Eye Municipal Hospital.
Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 16, at St. Mary's Catholic church in Sleepy Eye, with burial in the church cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the Sleepy Eye Honor Guard.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Sunday and 7:30-9:30 a.m., Monday, at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.

Oswald 'Ozzie' Mages, Jr.TEMPE, Ariz. -- Oswald "Ozzie" Mages, Jr., 77, of Tempe, Ariz., formerly of Redwood Falls, died Saturday, May 17, 2003, at his home in Tempe, Ariz.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Thursday, June 12, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Morgan, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, at the church. Arrangements are with the Nelson-Martin Funeral Service in Redwood Falls.
He is survived by brothers, Albin Mages of Olivia, Alphonse Mages of New Ulm, Clarence Mages of Willmar; and sisters, Elaine Myron of Willmar, and Diane Schweinfurter of Olivia.
Oswald Mages, Jr., was born Dec. 17, 1925, in Paxton Township, Redwood County, to Oswald, Sr. and Elizabeth (Zins) Mages.

Eleanor (Mrs. Edwin) Mertz, 90, of rural Sleepy Eye died Monday, June 9, 2003, at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m., Thursday, June 12, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Wednesday and 7:30 - 10:30 a.m., Thursday, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. The Christian Mothers Society will pray the rosary at 4 p.m., Wednesday at the Cathedral. The St. Elizabeth's Catholic Aid Society will pray the rosary at 6:30 p.m., and there will be a parish prayer at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Eleanor is survived by her husband, Edwin Mertz of rural Sleepy Eye; daughters and son-in-law, Sharon and Don Klaviter of New Ulm and Linda Hickey of Tonka Bay; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Linda Mertz of New Ulm, Richard and Linda Mertz of Sleepy Eye, Gary and Mary Mertz of New Ulm; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Arline Krambeer of New Ulm; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Joseph Mertz in infancy; and a brother, Leander Schmidt.
Eleanor was born April 14, 1913, in Cottonwood Township, Brown County, to Wenzel and Anna (Dietl) Schmidt. She attended School District 4 near Searles. She married Edwin T. Mertz on October 16, 1944, at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Searles. After marriage they farmed in Sigel Township, Brown County. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, the Christian Mothers Society, and the St. Elizabeth's Catholic Aid Society. Eleanor was a loving wife and mother who enjoyed cooking, gardening, canning, playing cards and bingo.
Eleanor's family prefers memorials to New Ulm Area Catholic Schools.

Edmund Romberg, 87, of Banning, Calif, formerly of Sleepy Eye, died May 11, 2003. Funeral service was May 16, 2003, in Banning, Calif.
Ed was born July 30, 1915, in Sleepy Eye, to Frank and Minnie (Miller) Romberg. He graduated from Sleepy Eye High School in 1931. He worked on the family farm before moving to California, where he worked in ship yards and other various jobs. He worked in real estate for 25 years. Ed married Rhonelda (Pat) Petrick in 1944. They lived in Banning for 50 years.
Ed is survived by his wife Pat: sons, Stephen (Sue) and Brian of Banning, Calif., and David (Cyndi) of Soldotna, Alaska; 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Wright and Alma Romberg; two brothers, Willard and Water (Emily) of Sleepy Eye; two nieces and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Herbert; a sister, Marie; half-brother Elmer and half-sister Ruth Tessmer.

Morris M. Schmidt, 69, of Conroe, Texas, formerly of New Ulm, died May 24, 2003, in a hospital in Houston.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Linsmeier) Schmidt; daughter, Sheri Smith of Conroe; sons, Mark and Dale Schmidt, both of Conroe; six grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; one great-grandchild, and a sister, Norma Heise of Chicago.
He was born Sept. 18, 1933, in North Dakota to Ernie and Emma Schmidt.
