F. Philip Peterson -- A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2003, at the Lake Hanska Lutheran Church, for F. Philip Peterson, who died on March 30, 2003, in Minneapolis.
He was born to Magnus and Ella (Frederickson) Peterson on May 17, 1919, in Hanska. After his father's death, the family moved to Milroy, where he attended elementary school.
In 1930, his mother married Laurice Quam and they moved to Pekin, N.D. He graduated from Pekin High School in 1937 and went on to attend North Dakota Agriculture College (now NDSU) in Fargo, N.D., and then the University of Minnesota Agriculture School, St. Paul.
In 1941 he married Ruth Matson. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was employed by Metropolitan Life Company in the farm loan division for nearly 40 years, working out of Sioux Falls and Watertown, S.D.; Atlantic, Iowa;Walla Walla, Wash.; and Mason City, Iowa. After retirement, he lived for several years in Clear Lake, Iowa, and then in Minneapolis.
He is survived by a daughter, Joyce Ritz of Marine, Minn.; sons, David of St. Paul, and Dennis of North Liberty, Iowa; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Luella (Quam) Parmer of Beaverton, Ore.

Hugo Steven Reinhart, 83, of Rochester, formerly of Lafayette, died June 16, 2003, at his home.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. today at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Rochester, with burial at Calvary Cemetery in Rochester. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church on Wednesday.
Hugo is survived by his wife Marcie Reinhart of Rochester; son Ronald Reinhart of Conrad, Mont.; daughter Pam Nellis of Maple Grove; and two grandchildren.
Hugo Steven Rienhart was born Sept. 3, 1919, in Lafayette.
He served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, including World War II and the Korean War.

Rosemarie Schow, 76, of 511 N. Broadway in New Ulm died Monday, June 16, 2003 at the Sleepy Eye Care Center in Sleepy Eye.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11a.m., Friday, June 20, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation is 10-11 a.m., Friday at the Cathedral. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by her husband, Norman Schow of New Ulm; daughters, Teresa Foss of New Ulm and Lori Arndt of Walker; sons, Steven Schow of Gaylord and Richard Schow of Santee, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Barbara Greenwood of Wayzata.
She was born Feb. 19, 1927, in Carver, Minn., to James and Ennis (Danielson) Spillane.

Carol E. Baer, 79, died on Monday, June 16, 2003, at Watertown (Wis.) Memorial Hospital
Services are 11 a.m., Friday, June 20, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church with burial in the Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m., today and one hour before the service at the church.
Pederson Funeral Home of Watertown handled arrangements.
She is survived by her husband; daughter Pamela; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
She was born Oct. 26, 1923, in New Ulm, to George and Hertha (Aufderheide) Gieseke.

Lorna Drill, 76, of Winthrop and formerly of Gibbon, died Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 21, at the Augustana Lutheran Church in Gibbon with Pastor Allan E. Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Friday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon and will continue on Saturday for one hour prior to the time of service at the church.
Lorna is survived by a daughter, Brenda Drill, of Winthrop; a very special friend, Gwen (Taralseth) Reeves, of Winthrop; brothers and sisters-in-law Harlan and Lois Berger of Gibbon, Ronald and Pat Berger of Pennsylvania; a sister-in-law, Lucille Berger of Winthrop; a brother-in-law, Roger Nestande of Excelsior; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Louis and Karen Melius and Earl and Marjorie Lindstrand all of Winthrop; and by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl, in 1996; a son, Lynn, in 1970; a brother, Alloyus Berger; and by sisters, Leora Buerkle and Marion Nestande.
Lorna Irene Drill, the daughter of Arthur and Elrena (Kiecker) Berger was born on December 29, 1926, in Wellington Township, Renville County. She married Carl Alfred Drill on October 9, 1945, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon. After marriage they lived in Gibbon where she was a cook at the Gibbon Schools. She then worked at Kraft Foods in New Ulm for several years before returning to the Gibbon Schools as a cook. Lorna had lived in Gibbon most of her life but for the past six years she has lived with her daughter, Brenda, in Winthrop. She loved her husband and her family very much. Lorna was a member of the Augustana Lutheran Church in Gibbon.

Richard Liebl, 81, of 526 North Broadway in New Ulm died Thursday, June 19, 2003 at the St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM Tuesday, June 24, 2003 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the St. George Catholic Cemetery in West Newton Township, Nicollet County. Visitation will be 4 - 8 PM Monday and 7:30 - 9:30 AM Tuesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. The St. Patrick's Council of the Knights of Columbus and the St. Joseph's Catholic Aid Council will pray a combined rosary at 6:30 PM and there will be a parish prayer service at 7:30 PM both Monday at the funeral home.
Richard is survived by his wife, Sylvania of New Ulm; daughters and sons-in-law, Joan Liebl of Shakopee, Doris and Doug Schmiesing of New Ulm, Major Audry and Bob Ellingson of San Antonio, Texas; a son and daughter-in-law, Ted and Darlene Liebl of New Ulm; twelve grandchildren; three great grandchildren; step-daughters, Vicki Higdem, Lori and Joe Dietz all of New Ulm; step-sons, Paul and Janelle Higdem of Willmar and Duane Higdem of Minneapolis; daughter-in-law, Lila Liebl of Albert Lea; and a sister-in-law, Rose Liebl of New Ulm.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his 1st wife, Hedwig on March 16, 1970; sons, Otto in 1967 and Arnold in 1992; a daughter, Victoria in infancy; a step-son, David Higdem; four brothers; and four sisters.
Richard was born July 5, 1921 in Ridgely Township, Nicollet County to John and Margaretha
(Schiefert) Liebl. He married Hedwig Beyer on July 21, 1944 at the St. George Catholic Church in West Newton Township, Nicollet County. After marriage they farmed in Ridgely Township, Nicollet County. He moved to New Ulm in 1971 where he worked for 3M until his retirement. He married Sylvania Higdem on June 24, 1972 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, St. Patrick's Council of the Knights of Columbus and the St. Joseph's Catholic Aid Council.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the donors choice.

Albert Rogotzke, 69,of Sanborn, died on Friday, June 20, 2003, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, with burial in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, in Sanborn.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Monday at the Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield.
He is survived by his wife, Helen of Sanborn; children, Susan Gedemer of West Bend, Wis., Albert E. " Rusty" Rogotzke of Charles City, Iowa, William Rogotzke of Sanborn, Howard Rogotzke of Columbia Heights, and Laura Alvstad of Windom; a brother, Robert Rogotzke of Fairfax; and sisters, Betty Ann Kurth of Hutchinson, and Mary Jane Rogotzke of Bloomington.
Albert Rogotzke was born July 8, 1933, in Sanborn, to Albert H. and Myrtle ( Klasnya) Rogotzke.

Geraldine 'Jerri' Christle, 54, of rural St. James, died Friday, June 20, 2003, at the Madelia Community Hospital in Madelia from injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Hanska.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2003, at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Searles, with burial in the New Ulm City Cemetery in New Ulm. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Monday and 7:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Geraldine is survived by her husband Allan of rural St. James; daughters, Angela R. Christle of Mankato, and Amanda L. Christle of Sleepy Eye; sons and daughter-in-law, Edward A. Christle of Montgomery, and Scott and Jessica Christle of New Ulm; five grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Doris Daniels, Joyce and Dan Rohdes, and Betty Daughtry, all of North Carolina; brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Gloria Wiggins and Daniel and Joyce Wiggins, all of North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her grandparents; parents; twin brothers in infancy; and a brother, William Wiggins.
Geraldine was born Dec. 9, 1948, in Roseville, N.C., to Willy and Thelma (Peedin) Wiggins. She married Allan Christle on Jan. 20, 1968, in Goldsboro, N.C. After marriage they lived in North Carolina until moving to Hanska in 1977. Geraldine worked in New Ulm at Head Start, PGI Mailers and Dittrich Specialties for the past 14 years. She was a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Searles, where she taught CCD classes; the Council of Catholic Women; and Relay For Life.

Jeanne M. Hacker, 65, of Shakopee, formerly of Lafayette, died Wednesday, June 18, 2003, of Cancer at St. Gertrude's Cancer Center in Shakopee.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 23, 2003, at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Shakopee, with burial 2 p.m. Monday at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Cemetery in Lafayette. Pallbearers are David Erickson, Craig Mariska, Todd Mariska, David Ahlers, Chris Erickson and Kent Mariska. Visitation will be 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church. Arrangements are with the Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home in Shakopee.
Jeanne is survived by sisters, Grace Erickson of New Brighton, Justine (Robert) Eaton of Bloomington, LaDonna Hacker of Bloomington, and Sharon Hacker of Bloomington; and brother Linus Hacker of Lafayette. She was preceded in death by her parents Edward W. and Annie (Steinbach) Hacker; and sister, Audrey Mariska.
Jeanne M. Hacker was born Jan. 19, 1938, in Lafayette, to Edward W. and Annie (Steinbach) Hacker. She graduated from Holy Trinity High School in New Ulm, and Normandale Community College in Bloomington with an associate's degree in art. She worked as a secretary and was an avid traveler, skier and biker. She was a longtime member of the Neptune Aqua Club.

Cathy Eichten, 60, of Wabasso, died Saturday, June 21, 2003, at her home.
Services are 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 25, at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Wabasso, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Tuesday, with a 7 p.m., prayer service at the church.
Redwood Valley Funeral Home of Redwood Falls is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Reiner, 97, of Springfield, died Saturday, June 21, 2003, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield.
Service will be held at St. Raphael's Catholic Church on Wednesday, June 25, at 10:30 a.m. Father Dennis Labat will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will host a lunch following the services at the Springfield Community Center in Springfield.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Tuesday; and 7:30-10 a.m. Wednesday at the Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield. There will be a parish prayer service on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. The CCW will pray the rosary at 10 a.m., Wednesday at St. Raphael's Catholic Church.
Mary C. Reiner was born Oct. 20, 1905, in Three Lakes Township, Redwood County, to Joseph and Mary (Rothmeier) Tauer. She attended rural school. On October 16, 1923 she married Joseph Reiner at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Clements. They lived on the Reiner Home Place in Bashaw Township, Brown County, until 1960 when they retired to Springfield. She became a resident at St. John Lutheran Home on April 8, 2002. She was a member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield, CCW, and St Boniface CAC in Springfield. She enjoyed her family, being around people, traveling, fishing, quilting, tatting, and entertaining.
She is survived by her children, Evelyn and husband Wm C. Weber of Springfield, Donald Reiner of Bingham Lake, Wallace "Wally" and wife Myrtle of Springfield; 18 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Veronice and husband Andrew Mathiowetz of Morgan and Lucille and husband Harold Mathiowetz of Olivia.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Joseph in 1967; grandson Joel in 1988; two great-grandchildren; brother Sylvester Tauer; and sisters, Eleanor Heiling and Agnes Mages Schwab.

Betty Weerts, 86, of Redwood Falls and formerly of the Lower Sioux Community, died Saturday, June 21, 2003, at Sunwood Good Samaritan Care Center in Redwood Falls.
Services are 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 24, at Nelson-Martin Funeral Service in Redwood Falls with burial in St. Cornelia's Episcopal Cemetery on the Lower Sioux Community, Morton.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Monday, at Nelson-Martin Funeral Service in Redwood Falls and continues one hour before the services on Tuesday.
She is survived by sons, Paul Crooks of Franklin, Richard Crooks of Morton, William Crooks of Morton, Steve Crooks of Morton, Victor Crooks of New Ulm; and six grandchildren.
She was born Sept. 15, 1917, in Royal Oak Township, Ferndale, Mich., to Sam and Evelyn (Whiteman) Bear.

Dr. Harold Coulter, 88, of Sun City, Ariz., died on May 23, 2003, at the Life Care Center in Tucson, Ariz.
Graveside Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday June 28, 2003, at the Lamberton Cemetery in Lamberton, with Pastor Theodora K. Hall officiating.
Harold is survived by his sons, Harold Coulter Jr. of Minneapolis, Tom Coulter of Tucson, Ariz., and Bill Coulter of Hudson, Wis.; brother Dr. Everetta Coulter of Spokane, Wash.; and sister, Rosetta Krinke of Lamberton.
Harold was born Oct. 10, 1914, to B.J. and Josephine (Anderson) Coulter in Lamberton.
He served in the U.S. Army from July 2, 1943 to Nov. 5, 1946 as a medical officer.

Cathy Eichten, 60, of Wabasso, died Saturday, June 21, 2003, at her home in Wabasso.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Wabasso, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Tuesday with 7 p.m. prayer service at St. Anne's Catholic Church. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service at the church on Wednesday. Arrangements are with the Redwood Valley Funeral Home in Redwood Falls.
Cathleen Rosemary Dolan Eichten was born Sept. 24, 1942, in Redwood Falls, to Louis and Lucille (Balfany) Dolan. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Milroy. She graduated from Milroy High School in 1960.
Cathy was united in marriage to Gerald "Jerry" Eichten on April 28,1962, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Milroy. The couple settled in Wabasso, and lived there until the present time. Cathy and Jerry had ownership in the John Deere Dealership in Wabasso since 1967. Cathy was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church and the C.C.W. She was also a member of the Wanda 333 Club and a past member of the Wabasso Progressive Club. Cathy enjoyed reading and painting. Spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, was her favorite pastime.
She is survived by her father Louis Dolan of Milroy; husband Jerry Eichten of Wabasso; daughter Cheri and Jerry Dallmann of Wabasso; sons, Mike and Cheri Eichten of Wabasso, and Pat and Jenny Eichten of Wabasso; eight grandchildren, Andy, Jessica, Christopher, Justin, Neil, Kendra, Karlee and Cora; and seven siblings and their spouses,: Denis and Judy Dolan of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Joan and Ken Zwach of Minnetonka, Joe and Lynne Dolan of Burnsville, Jane and Tom Schultz of Burnsville, Alice Dolan of Bloomington, Pat and Lori Dolan of Lucan, and Bill and Lynn Dolan of Edina. She is also survived by brother and sister-in-laws, Stanley and Agnes Eichten of Mankato, Steve and Marlene Eichten of Hutchinson, and Connie and Harvey Tautges of Gibbon.
She was preceded in death by her son Thomas and mother Lucille Balfany Dolan.

Jack Hentges, 76, of Crystal, formerly of Sleepy Eye, died Sunday, June 22, 2003, at Crystal Care Center in Crystal.
Service will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, with Father Brian Oestreich and Father James Hentges officiating. Interment will be at the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery with military rites by the Sleepy Eye Honor Guard.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30 - 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. There will be a Parish Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
A. John "Jack" Hentges was born on Nov. 1, 1926, in Sleepy Eye, the son of Alois and Anna M. (Steffen) Hentges. He grew up in Sleepy Eye and attended St. Mary's Elementary School. Jack graduated from New Ulm High School in 1944, and enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving during WW II.
He attended Mankato Commercial College and worked as a bookkeeper and office manager at the Renville/Sibley and Brown County REA Offices. He retired from the Brown County REA in 1988, after 42 years of service. Jack was a member of the Knights of Columbus and American Legion. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye and was very active in committees for church preservation and restoration. He enjoyed traveling, especially to Acapulco during the winter. He loved lawn work and gardening and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his sisters, Lucille O' Malley of New Hope, Betty and husband Don Schmid of Sleepy Eye, and Donna Schmelz of New Hope; sister-in-law, Eileen Hentges of Mankato; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Stanley; and brothers-in-law, Charles O' Malley and Neil Schmelz.
The family would prefer memorials be made to the St. Mary's Church Building Maintenance Fund.
