George H. Lochner, 92, of the Ross Park Apartments in Sleepy Eye died Monday, June 23, 2003, at his home.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 26, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye with burial in the Home Cemetery in Sleepy Eye.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Thursday.
Minnesota Valley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
George is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Eugene and Marlys Lochner of rural Sleepy Eye; a granddaughter, Kay Ruden and her husband, Brad of Bruce, South Dakota; great-granddaughter, Kaitlin Ruden; a sister, Alice Zaske of Wadena; and a sister-in-law, Inez Lochner of Sleepy Eye.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Esther E. Lochner on March 11, 1997,; sisters, Hertha Deinken, Ida Watschke, Elma Neyers; and brothers, John, Edward, Arthur, Hugo and Elmer Lochner.
He was born on October 26, 1910, in Home Township, Brown County to William and Ida (Zimanski) Lochner. He married Esther E. Krenz on March 17, 1936, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye. After marriage they farmed in Prairieville Township, Brown County, and later in Home Township, Brown County. They retired in 1967 and then moved to Sleepy Eye. He also did carpentry work. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye.

Lerain Bruns, 68, of Gray Eagle and formerly of Gibbon, died Tuesday, June 24, 2003, at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud.
Services are 11 a.m., Saturday, June 28, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 9-11 a.m., Saturday, at the church. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by her husband Harlan Bruns of Gray Eagle; a daughter Tammie Kaste of Battle Lake; sons, Terry Bruns, Tim Bruns, both of Gibbon; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Lila Buerkle of Gibbon, Celia Mae Draeger of Gibbon, Vivian Rude of Rhinelander, Wis., Mavis Klukas of Gibbon, Sandy Isakson of Salt Lake City, Utah; and a brother, Wilbert Schauer of Winthrop.
She was born Jan. 3, 1935, in Winthrop to Arthur and Viola (Kuehn) Schauer.

Reuben H. Kohn, 83, of St. James, died Monday, June 23, 2003, at St. James Health Services Hospital.
Services are 11 a.m., Friday, June 27, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. James with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery, St. james.
Visitation is one hour before the service at the church.
Arrangements are handled by Pease Funeral Home, St. James.
He is survived by wife Ona; sons, Robin of Buffalo, Rick of St. James, Ross of North Mankato; daughters, Michelle O'Laughlin of Evergreen Colo.,; brother, Henry Kohn of St. James; sisters, Vera Kriesch of St. James and Anna Mae King of Darwin; eight grandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren.
He was born March 21, 1920, in Rosendale Township, Watonwan County to Henry and Emma (Appel) Kohn.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World war II.

Margaret Sill, 87, of Madelia, died Monday, June 23, 2003, at the Margaret Parmly Residence in Chisago City.
Services are 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 27, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Madelia with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m., Thursday, at Pilgrim Funeral Home in Madelia and one hour before the service at the church.
She is survived by sons, Douglas of Chisago City, David of Marshall; seven grandchildren; sisters, Jeanette Sprague, Charlotte Hoiosen of Petersurg, AK; and Ardis Grimes of Worthington.
She was born March 18, 1916 in rural Madelia to Emil and Clara (Hovde) Hagestande.

Mildred E. (Altmann) Weier, age 93 years, of New Ulm, formerly of West Bend, Wis., died Tuesday, June 24, 2003, at the St. Peter Health Care Center in St. Peter.
Funeral services will be 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 27, at the Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 7 p.m. at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Church. Fr. Robert Balles will preside. Burial will be in St. Mary's (new) Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-6:15 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
She is survived by a daughter, Kathrin (Norm) Edlebeck of New Ulm; a son-in-law, Robert and (Barbara) Wenzlaff of Kewaskum, Wis.; six grandchildren: Michelle (Rob) Lemke of West Bend, Steve Wenzlaff of Racine, Wis.; Pat (Wendy) Wenzlaff of West Bend, Christopher (Tina) Wenzlaff of Campbellsport, Wis., Douglas Szivulka of Rochester, Minn., Erica (James) Edlebeck-Penkert of St. Peter; nine great-grandchildren: Grace and Bianca Penkert, Matthew, Zachary, Gabriel and Megan Lemke, Josh Leiberg, Riley and Kayla Wenzlaff; special friends, Barbara Boppre of West Bend and Ann Thill of Kewaskum, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Mary Wenzlaff and Ramona Weier, and a granddaughter, Julie Wenzlaff.
She was born Oct. 1, 1909, in Newton Township, Minnesota, to the late Rubert and Elizabeth (Hellmer) Altmann. Shortly after her marriage to R. Charles Weier on July 22, 1939, in Holy Trinity Church in New Ulm, the couple settle in Milwaukee for a short time. They moved to Kewaskum and then to WEst Bend where she helped her husband in the R. Charles Weier Accounting and Tax Service. For the past three years she has lived in New Ulm. She was preceded in death by her husband on Oct. 20, 1987.
Mildred was active in various Home Makers Clubs in West Bend, and was also past president of the Christian Women's Confraternity at St. Bridget's Church in the town of Wayne, and a member of St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Church in West Bend.

William 'Bill' Eller, 63 of the Lower Sioux Community, died June 24, 2003, at his home.
Services are 11 a.m., Monday, June 30, at St. Cornelia's Episcopal Church at the Lower SIoux Community near Morton. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation begins at 4 p.m., Sunday, at the church hall and continues until the time of service Monday.
He is survived by children, Salina, Raquel, Heather, Dominic, Delores and Alan; seven grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; siblings, Juanita Horn, Leonard Eller, Mary Prinzing and Iola Johnson.
He was born Mach 21, 1940, in Pipestone, Minn., to Max and Cornelia (St. Clair) Eller.

Virgil Palmer, 53, died Saturday, June 21, 2003, at Via Christi Oklahoma Regional Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Monday, June 30, 2003, at Ridgely Cemetery in Fairfax, with Pastor Krista Braten-Lee officiating.
Virgil was born on June 25, 1949, in Sleepy Eye, the son of Willard Arthur and Marion Ehlers Palmer. He graduated from high school in Fairfax. In 1969, Virgil entered the U.S. Navy and served as a nuclear welder. He was honorably discharged in 1973. On April 19, 1969, Virgil married Carole Brumbaugh in Park Rapids. In 1974, they moved to Wrenshall, where he began working for Conoco. In 1981 they moved to Ponca City, Okla. Virgil continued working for Conoco before retiring in March of 1998 due to his health.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife Carole of the home; his father Willard Palmer of Madelia; two sons, Eric Palmer and his wife Keisha, and Brandon Palmer and his wife Tasha, all of Ponca City, Okla.; four grandchildren, Eric Thomas Jr., Kaila Palmer, Mikka Palmer and Kaitlyn Clonts; four brothers, Glen Palmer of Tampa, Fla., Howard Palmer of Norfolk, Va., Randy Palmer of Lamar, Colo., and Steven Palmer of Madelia; and one sister, Rose Ann "Dollie" Severson of Lake Crystal.
Memorials may be made to Huntington's Disease Society of America, 158 West 29th Street, 7th Floor, New York, N.Y. 10001-5300.

Marie Fiedler, 75, of Braham, died Thursday, June 26, 2003, at her daughter's home in Forest Lake.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 30, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Braham.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Sunday and one hour before the mass at the funeral home in Braham.
She is survived by her sons, Charles, Donald, Kenneth, David, Jeffrey, Jon and Bruce Fiedler; daughters, Mary Code, and Rita Hanson; brothers, Fred, Clarence, and Francis Dauer, and a sister, Dolores Schreiner of Fairfax, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernell Fiedler on June 3, 1991, her parents, Otto and Helen Dauer, a brother Charles and a sister Lorine Dauer.
She was born Nov. 13, 1927, in Madelia.

A. Louise Rasmussen, 93, of River Falls, Wis., died Friday, June 20, 2003.
Among her survivors are a daughter, Mavis (Lyndon) Jones of New Ulm.

Hazel Meine, 87, of New Ulm died Wednesday, June 25, 2003 at the Fairfax Community Home in Fairfax.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date after the arrival of family members from out of state. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is in charge of the arrangements.

Brenda Kiehler, 42, of 300 N. Broadway in New Ulm, died Friday, June 27, 2003 at her home.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Schmucker Funeral Service in New Ulm with burial to follow at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, New Ulm. Visitation will be 5 to 8:00 p.m. Monday and 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
Brenda Sue Kiehler, the daughter of Clifford and Cleo (Radatz) Kiehler, Sr., was born November 26, 1960 in St. Clair, Michigan. She attended public schools in Memphis, MI. After graduating from Memphis High School, Brenda attended vocational school in Michigan, studying computer science. She moved with her parents to New Ulm in the late 1980s to be near family. She worked for MBW in New Ulm, and later the former Bethany Lutheran Church, where she was a member.
Survivors include her parents, Cliff and Cleo Kiehler, Sr. of New Ulm; sister, Annette Berg and her husband Gary of New Ulm; brothers, Cliff Kiehler, Jr. and his wife Elaine of Waterford, MI, Daniel Kiehler and his wife Renae of Memphis, MI; nephew and nieces, Jacob and Bridget Berg of New Ulm, Brittany and Courtney Kiehler of Waterford, MI, Rebecca and Erika Kiehler of Memphis, MI; aunts and uncles, Elsie Weismiller, Ethel Buhl, Leo (Margaret) Radatz, James (Mary Kay) Radatz, Linda Frantz, Martin Radatz; and many cousins.

Thomas P. (Red) Hittesdorf, 59, of Garden Grove, Calif., formerly of Sleepy Eye, died Thursday, June 26, 2003, at his home.
Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday, July 3, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, with burial at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 3, from 10:30 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife Angie; sons, Ben, Dan, Peter and Michael; grandchildren; brothers, James, Patrick, and Les; and sisters, Patsy, Carol, Rosalie, Claire, Marilyn, and Joanne.
Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye is handling local arrangements.
He was born Sept. 27, 1943, to Magnus and Ruby Hittesdorf.

Michael J. Kelly, 49, of Madison, Wis., formerly of New Ulm, died on June 26, 2003, in Hospice Care Inc., in Madison.
Graveside services are at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 3, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, New Ulm. Memorial services are at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 3, at Faith Lutheran Church, New Ulm. Arrangements are by Schmucker Funeral Service, New Ulm.
Visitation is one hour prior to services at the church.
He is survived by his parents, Donald and Eunice, of New Ulm; brother Matthew, of Eau Claire, Wis.; and sisters, Margaret "Peggy" Kelly, of New Ulm and Elizabeth Olmanson, of Kasota.
He was born Sept.18, 1953, in New Ulm, to Donald and Eunice (Sauer) Kelly.

Henry Franta, 86, of rural Gibbon died Saturday, June 28, 2003, at the Gil Mor Manor in Morgan.
Due to construction at St. George Catholic Church, the Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Lafayette at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 1, with burial in the St. George Catholic Cemetery in St. George and lunch to follow in the parish center in St. George.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m., Monday and 7:30 - 9:30 a.m., Tuesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. The St. George Catholic Order of Foresters will pray the rosary at 6:30 p.m., and there will be a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. both Monday evening at the funeral home.
Henry is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Karen and Thomas Richter, and Susan Dietz all of New Ulm; sons and daughter-in-law, Barton "Barry" Franta of New Ulm, Bruce Franta and Brian and Lori Franta all of rural Gibbon; grandchildren, Chris Evers and her husband, Jon, Eric Dietz, Jessica Furth and her husband, Rick, Amber Franta and Nick Franta; great-grandchildren, Anna Evers, Nathan Evers and Jeremy Evers; sisters, Ida Mueller of Fairfax, Aurelia Martin of Roseville; and a sister-in-law, Daisy Schreiner of Waconia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Loretta Franta on November 10, 1996; and brothers, Albert, Edwin and Marvin Franta.
He was born on November 22, 1916, in West Newton Township, Nicollet County, to Anton and Magdelena (Smasal) Franta. He married Loretta F. Schreiner on September 6, 1939, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. After marriage they farmed in West Newton Township, Nicollet County, until retiring in 1978. They continued to live on the farm. He enjoyed farming, gardening, traveling, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and his church. He was a member of St. George Catholic Church in St. George, and a member of the St. George Catholic Order of Foresters.
Memorial are preferred to St. George Handicapped Entrance Fund.

Joseph Lang, Jr., 58, died Friday, June 27, 2003, at the Springfield Medical Center of cancer.
Services are 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 1, at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield, with burial at the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., today, at Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield with a parish prayer service at 6:30 p.m.,; and continues 7:30-10 a.m., Tuesday, July 1, at the funeral home. There will be a men's rosary at 10 a.m., Tuesday at the church.
He is survived by wife Diane of Springfield; sons, Michael of Springfield, Marc, Martin of Brookings, S.D., Matthew of Willmar; daughters, Laurie, Lisa; six grandchildren; father, Joseph Lang, Sr.; brother, Jim Lang of Sanborn; and twin sister, JoAnn Schwartz of Springfield.
Joseph Sylvester Lang, Jr. was born August 30, 1944, in Springfield, to Joseph Lang, Sr. and Mildred (Schunk) Lang.

Emma Mehlhop, 86, of New Ulm died Saturday, June 28, 2003, at the Divine Providence Home in Sleepy Eye.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 - 8 p.m., Monday, and from 7:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service at 5:30 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
Emma is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Judith Mehlhop, Ronald and Joanne Mehlhop, and Greg and Jeanne Mehlhop all of New Ulm; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Charlie Wiedl of New Ulm; brothers and sister-in-law, Henry and Ruth Reimann of Hopkins, Bob Reimann of St. Paul; and a brother-in-law, Willard "Pete" Groebner of New Ulm.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry F. Mehlhop on July 7, 1975; and several brothers and sisters.
She was born on March 10, 1917, in Norwood to Otto and Emma (Knott) Reimann. She married Henry F. Mehlhop on April 19, 1941, in Norwood. After marriage they lived in New Ulm. She worked at the New Ulm Greenhouse and then at Randalls in New Ulm. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm.

Timothy M. Welsh, 38, of The Woodlands, Texas died Thursday, June 26, 2003, at his home after a lengthy battle with Melanoma Cancer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 2, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with Father John Richter officiating. Burial will be in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 3 - 8 p.m., Tuesday, and 7:30 until 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Tim is survived by his wife Kelly Welsh; sons, Erik and Ryan, all of The Woodlands, Texas; his parents, John and Mary Welsh of Stillwater; sister and brother-in-law, Colleen and Ron Click of Stillwater; brothers and sister-in-law, Thomas and Jodi Welsh of St. Michael and Patrick Welsh of Brooklyn Park; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Carol and Marlin "Mandy" Helget of rural New Ulm; and by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Tom and Ruth Welsh and Clyde and Angela Patterson.
Timothy Michael Welsh, the son of John and Mary (Patterson) Welsh was born on October 2, 1964 in Mankato. He was a 1983 graduate of Mountain Iron High School in Mountain Iron, Minnesota. On April 13, 1996. he was united in marriage to Kelly Helget at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. After marriage they lived in the Twin Cities area before moving to The Woodlands, Texas in 2001. He was self-employed as an auto wholesaler. Tim loved his family and friends and he loved hunting, golfing, and cars.
