Jane Selle, 76, of Clements, died Thursday, July 10, 2003, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield.
Services are 11 a.m., Saturday, July 19, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Clements, with burial in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Clements.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, at the Nelson-Martin Funeral Service in Redwood Falls, and will continue at the church Saturday one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by a son, Dennis of Clements; four grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; sisters, Elsie Buehler of Morton and Margaret Frank of Olivia, and a brother, Karl of Minneapolis.
She was born Oct. 12, 1926, in Brookfield Township, Renville County.

Jarvis Joseph Wabasha 27, Jarvis Joseph Wabasha (Wahacanka Wasté) meaning "Good Shield, " of the Lower Sioux Community, died Saturday, July 12, 2003, in Redwood Falls.
Services are 1 p.m. Thursday, July 17, at St. Cornelia's Episcopal Church at the Lower Sioux Community near Morton, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation begins at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church hall and continues until the time of services on Thursday. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the church hall. Redwood Valley Funeral Home of Redwood Falls is handling the arrangements.
He is survived by his parents, Joe Bressette and Linda Wabasha; four children, Mariah, Kaycee, Noblyn and Dylan; brothers, Shawn Sr., Nathan and Justice; and a sister, Winona.
He was born June 17, 1976, in Redwood Falls to Joseph Bressette and Linda Wabasha.

Catherine Johnson, 93, formerly of 1111 N. Jefferson St. in New Ulm, died Sunday, July 13, 2003, at the Hillcrest Health Care Center in Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 17, 2003, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, with burial in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. today and from 7:30 - 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. The Christian Mothers Society will pray the rosary at 4 p.m. today at the Cathedral. There will be a rosary at 6:30 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. both today at the funeral home.
Catherine is survived by her husband Harold Johnson of Madelia; daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and Jerome Schmidt of Madelia, and Marian and Darrel Roybal of Grand Junction, Colo.; son and daughter-in-law Edward and Rose Johnson of Baxter; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Clara Schroepfer of Sleepy Eye, Angie Weber of Gibbon, and Anna Hacker of Lafayette; and brothers and sister-in-law, Leonard Sellner, and Clement and Dorothy Sellner all of Sleepy Eye. She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters; five brothers; and a son-in-law, Daniel Schmidt.
Catherine was born on Jan. 27, 1910, in Albin Township, Brown County, to Christopher and Marianna (Schloegel) Sellner. She married Harold J. Johnson on Oct. 21, 1940, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. After marriage they lived in Sleepy Eye for 27 years and then moved to New Ulm. She had worked at Del-Monte in Sleepy Eye and also was employed in housekeeping for people and businesses. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting and gardening. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm and was a member of the Christian Mothers Society.

David Kretsch, 38, of Forest Hill, Md., and formerly of New Ulm, died Jan. 21, 2003, at his home in Maryland.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2003, at the St. John The Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Searles.
After the service at the cemetery there will be an informal gathering at the home of his mother Elizabeth Kretsch in New Ulm. Arrangements are with the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.
Arrangements were handled by Minnesota Valley Funeral Home of New Ulm.
David is survived by his wife Jacqueline R. Kretsch; sons, Matthew D. Kretsch, Brandon N. Kretsch, and Jonathan R. Kretsch, all of Forest Hill, Md.; his mother Elizabeth Kretsch of New Ulm; and by brothers, James Kretsch and his wife Lisa, and Daniel Kretsch and his wife Shari, all of New Ulm.
He was preceded in death by his father Herman Kretsch on Oct. 7, 2000; and by his grandparents.
David Jon Kretsch, the son of Herman and Elizabeth (Rewitzer) Kretsch was born on June 22, 1964, in New Ulm. He was a 1982 graduate of New Ulm High School and a 1986 graduate of the St. John's University in Collegeville. David and Jacqueline were married at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm on June 7, 1986. From 1986 to 1993 he worked at the St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Company in St. Paul. From 1993 up until his death he was the Senior Vice President and Chief Underwriting Officer for the Zurich Insurance Company in Baltimore, Md. While living in New Ulm, David was a member of the Menagerie Singers.

Gladys Vanover, 92, of St. James, died Monday, July 14, 2003, at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center in St. James.
Services are 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 18, at St. Olaf Lutheran church in Odin, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Thursday; 7:30-8:30 a.m., Friday at Strum Funeral Home, St. James; and continues one hour before services at the church.

Everett G. Bleick, 83, of 106 Hazelwood Avenue in New Ulm died Thursday, July 17, 2003, at the Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Saturday, July 19, at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in New Ulm with burial in the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation will be 4 - 7 p.m., Friday, and 7:30 - 11 a.m., Saturday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.
Everett is survived by his wife, Corrine of New Ulm; sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Avis Bleick of Two Rivers, Wisconsin and Jerome and Cheryl Bleick; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was born January 30, 1920, in Sibley County to Henry Jr., and Rose Ann (Kiecker) Bleick. He married Corrine Beran on June 10, 1941, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon. After marriage they farmed in Sibley County near Gibbon for several years. They moved to New Ulm in 1946 where he drove a truck for the Hauenstein Brewery. He then worked as a custodian at the St. Paul's Lutheran School until he retired. He was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in New Ulm and the Sons of the American Legion in New Ulm.

Tillie Carlson, 86, of Hector, died Wednesday, July 16, 2003, at the Emmanuel Home in Litchfield.
Services are 2 p.m., Monday, July 21, at Palmyra Covenant Church, rural Hector with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m., Sunday at Hughes Funeral Home in Hector and Monday at the church, one hour prior to the service.

Tom Dauer, 45, died July 15, 2003, at St. Peter Community Hospital.
There will be a sharing of memories at the St. Peter Funeral Home-Klein Chapel on Monday, July 21, 2003, from 5 - 7 p.m. At 7:30 p.m., there will be a memorial service and releasing of the dove at the St. Peter Red Men Lodge with a luncheon and continued sharing of memories to follow.
Tom was born on Sept. 7, 1957, to Melvin 'Butch' and Irene (Guth) Dauer. He attended New Ulm grade school and was a graduate of New Ulm High School. He married Shelia Guyer on Aug. 7, 1982, at the United Church of Christ in New Ulm. They moved to St. Peter in 1982, where Tom was employed at Nielsen's Chevrolet and Oldsmobile for six years. He became employed for Kato Engineering, where he worked for 14 years. Tom was the current president of Local Union 1999 ­ IBEW. He was a member and served on the board for St. Peter Red Men Club and a member of the Sons of the American Legion. He spent many hours doing volunteer work for the Red Men, Embassy, and American Legion. He enjoyed spending time at the lake, fishing, camping, hunting, and time with his family and friends.
Surviving Tom are his wife Shelia of St. Peter; three daughters, Shannon of Mankato, and Kristen and Karen of St. Peter; two granddaughters, Hailey and Hannah of Mankato, his mother Irene Dauer of New Ulm; three brothers, Charles and his wife Ronelva Dauer of Fairmont, Michael and his wife Jane of New Ulm, and Gary and his wife Glenda of Motley; and several nieces and nephews.
His father Melvin 'Butch' Dauer preceded Tom in death.

Arden Erickson Funeral services for Arden Erickson, 65, of rural Storden will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 21, at the Storden Baptist Church in Storden, MN with the Rev. David Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery in rural Storden.
Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Storden Community Center in Storden and on Monday for one hour prior to services at the church in Storden.
Arden Erickson passed away Thursday morning, July 17, 2003, at the Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Arrangements are under the care of the Anderson-Schmidt-LaCanne Funeral Home in Windom and Storden.
Survivors include, his wife, Ruth Ann Erickson of rural Storden; two sons and their spouses, Kent Erickson. and his wife, Karlain of Storden, and Curt Erickson and his wife, Andrea of Springfield; one sister, Gladys Herding and her husband, Bud of Storden; one brother, Dennis Erickson and his wife, Bette of Storden; and five grandchildren.

Frieda Hoffmann, 89, formerly of 401 S. Washington St. in New Ulm, died Wednesday, July 16, 2003, at the Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2003, at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm, with Father Douglas Grams celebrating. Burial will be in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. today and will continue from 7:30 until 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a rosary at 6:30 p.m. by the St. Mary's Catholic Aid Society and a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m., both Friday at the funeral home.
Frieda is survived by daughters, Rosemary Stadick of New Ulm, and Joyce Hoffmann and her husband Anthony of rural Sleepy Eye; sons, John R. Hoffmann, Kenneth Hoffmann and his wife Linda, and Gary Hoffmann and his wife Darlene, all of rural New Ulm; 18 grandchildren; 13 great- grandchildren; a brother, Arthur Klement and his wife Dorothy of New Ulm; sister-in-law Delores Klement of Gibbon; brothers-in-law, Alois Schneider and Arnold Schweiss both, of New Ulm; and by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband John C. Hoffmann on May 20, 1990; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Hoffmann, in 1992; a son-in-law, Leander Stadick in 1998; her parents Edward and Marie Klement; sisters, Anna Fahrenkamp, Sister M. Arilda O.S.B., Hilda Schweiss, Marie Mohr, Cecelia Schneider; and by brothers, Robert and Frank Klement.
Frieda Caroline Hoffmann, the daughter of Edward and Marie (Buchl) Klement, was born on Dec. 15, 1913, in Moltke Township, Sibley County. She attended District No. 24 country school, rural Gibbon.
On Sept. 3, 1940, Frieda was united in marriage to John Conrad Hoffmann at the St. Willibrord's Catholic Church in Gibbon. After marriage they farmed in Cottonwood Township, Brown County. In 1971, they moved to New Ulm, but continued farming. On Aug. 25, 2000. She moved to the Oak Terrace Assisted Living in Mankato, and since April 29, 2003, she has been a resident of the Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye.
Frieda was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm for 63 years, a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Aid Society, the St. Monica's Society and the St. Jude Guild.

Beatrice E. Steinhouse, 88, of Redwood Falls, died Wednesday, July 15, 2003, at Redwood Area Hospital.
Services are 3 p.m., Saturday, July 19, 2003 at Zion Lutheran Church in Morton with burial in Morton City Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Friday, at Nelson-Martin Funeral Service in Redwood Falls and Saturday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by sons, Roger of Montgomery, Leonard of Bloomington, Arnold of Redwood Falls, Kenneth of Northfield, and Gary of Apple Valley; daughters, Violet Roeder of North Mankato, Darlene Raddatz of Redwood Falls, Karen Boney of Redwood Falls and Betty Rogers of New Prague; a brother, Roy Stoll of Ely; 24 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
She was born May 28, 1915, in Birch Cooley Township, Renville County Minnesota to Charles and Regina (Pfeuti) Stoll.

George McCutcheon. ST. PAUL -- George James McCutcheon was born on Aug. 6, 1911, in Zumbrota, to William and Iva Mae (Rueber) McCutcheon. He graduated as valedictorian of the Pine Island High School class of 1929. He enrolled at the U of Minn. and graduated with honors in 1933, with a bachelor of science degree in education.
On Jan. 1, 1934, he married Gertrude E. Stucky in Zumbrota. He taught at Sleepy Eye High School and later at Hanska High School, New Ulm High School and University High School. In 1945, he earned his master's degree at the U of Minn. In 1950, George started teaching at the U of Minn. in the General College math department.
He earned his Ph.D. in educational psychology in 1958 from the U of Minn. He retired from teaching in 1980. He continued to be a volunteer teacher for the University Extension evening classes.
George was a member of Phi Delta Kappa, MEA, and he enjoyed playing the drums. For more than 20 years, he played the snare drum with the Sleepy Eye Drum and Bugle Corp.
George is survived by his wife Gertrude; daughter Arlene Nellis of Minneapolis; and grandson Tim Nellis of Minneapolis. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother William McCutcheon; and an infant sister.
A memorial celebration to commemorate the life of Professor McCutcheon will be held 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, 2003, at 176 N. Mississippi River Blvd., St. Paul, MN 55104. Memorials preferred to the McCutcheon family scholarship fund, in care of the University of Minnesota - General College, 128 Pleasant St. SE, Minneapolis, MN 55455.

Beverley Nielsen, 67, of Madelia, died Wednesday, July 16, 2003, in Madelia.
Memorial visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Monday at Madelia Trinity Lutheran Church, with a family sharing coffee hour.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Danebod Lutheran Church in Tyler, with burial in Danebod Lutheran Cemetery, Tyler. Tyler Area Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by husband Robert of Madelia; daughter, Shelly Lassiter; brothers: Gerald and Clyde Severson; sisters, Ruth Abrahamson and Kathryn Chambers, and two grandchildren.
She was born April 12, 1936, to Jacob and Thelma (Jenson) Severson, in Cushing, Wis.

Terry Lynch, 73, of Belle Plaine, died Friday, July 18, 2003 at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Shakopee.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 23, at Our Lady of the Prairie Church in Belle Plaine.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 8-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Lynch of Belle Plaine; daughters, Mary Beth Weldon of Golden Valley, Deborah Robertson of Springfield, Bonnie Murphy of Savage, and Cheryl Lynch of Egan; sons; Tim Lynch of Egan, Frank Lynch of Chanhassen, and Peter Lynch of Savage; ten grandchildren; sisters, Donna Heath of Pine City, and Sharon O'Neil of Bloomington; and brother, Richard Lynch of Chanhassen.

Clifford A. Kiecker, 87 of Fairfax died Thursday, July 17, 2003, at the New Ulm Medical Center.
Funeral services will be Monday, July 21, 2003, at 1 p.m., at St. John's Lutheran Church in Fairfax, with interment in St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Cairo Township, Renville County, Minnesota.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today (Sunday) and 7:30-11 a.m. Monday at the Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the services at the church on Monday.
Clifford is survived by his wife, Pearl Bernelda Kiecker of Fairfax; a son, Lanny Kiecker of Fairfax; a daughter, Susan Vaillancourt of St. Paul; two step-children, Kevin Kiecker of Nicollet, and Kay Hoffmann of Lafayette; nine grandchildren, six step grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and a sister, Laurette Nelson of Berlin, N.D.
Clifford Arnold Kiecker was born October 12, 1915, in Cairo Township, Renville County to Warnie and Rose (Dickmeyer) Kiecker.
