Leoma Veronica (Raschka) Fults, 90, of Sanborn, died on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003, at Valley View Manor in Lamberton.
Service is 10:30 a.m., Monday, Aug. 11, at St. Raphael's Catholic Church with burial in Sanborn City Cemetery. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m., Sunday, at the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield and a CCW rosary at10 a.m. Monday at the church.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m., Sunday, and 7:30-9:30 a.m., Monday at Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield.
She is survived by her husband Lendale; sons, Ronald of Sanborn, Gregory of Chisago City, and Cleve of Park Rapids; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one stepgreat grandchild.
She was born Dec. 22, 1912, to Wenzel and Catherine (Kuelbs) Raschka in Stately Township, Brown County.

Vera Lowinske, 76, of Sioux Falls, S.D., and formerly of the New Ulm and Sleepy Eye areas died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003, at the Good Samaritan Village in Sioux Falls.
Graveside services will be held at the Ft. Ridgley Cemetery at a later date.
Arrangements are being handled by Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.

Martha Trocke, 70, of Arlington, died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2003, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Services are 11 a.m., Saturday, at St. Paul's Lutheran church in Arlington with burial in Arlington Public Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-9 p.m., Friday and one hour before the service Saturday at the church.
Arrangements are handled by Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe.
She is survived by children, Richard of Arlington, James of Burnsville, Steve of Arlington, Karen Trocke-Kandah of North Carolina, and Marnett Herd of Alexandria.

Gladys Nilson, 76, of New Ulm died Friday, August 8, 2003 at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, August 11, 2003 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm City Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 - 7 p.m. Sunday and will continue from 7:30 - 11 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
Gladys is survived by sons and daughter-in-laws Galen and Rhonna Nilson of Lake Crystal, Jerry and Sherraye Nilson and Dwight and Mary Beth Nilson all of New Ulm; grandchildren, Cory, Justin, Trevor, Samuel, Kimberly, Adam, Melissa, and Katie; a great grandson, Colby; sisters and brother-in-law, Myrtle Edwards, a resident of the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm, Sylvia Senn of St. Paul, Pearl and Clayton Radcliff of St. Paul, Frances Madsen, a resident of a nursing home in Stuartville; and by brothers and sisters-in-law, Arlo and Gwen Harbo of rural Hanska and Samuel and Gayle Harbo of Fairbanks, Alaska. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Vernon Nilson on January 8, 2003, a brother, Chesley Harbo and a sister, Adelle Knutson.
Gladys was born on November 12, 1926 in Linden Township, Brown County to Samuel and Ella (Halvorson) Harbo. She graduated from High School in Hanska and then attended one year of beauty school in Mankato. On March 23, 1947 she was united in marriage to Vernon Nilson at the Linden Lutheran Church, rural Hanska. After marriage they farmed in Milford Township, Brown County. In 1955 they purchased a second farm in West Newton Township, Nicollet County and lived there until 1965 when they sold that farm and moved back to the farm in Brown County. Later on in her life she worked in the cosmetic department at Thrifty White Drug Store and at Randall's both in New Ulm. She had been a resident of the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm since this past January. The family prefers memorials to the Scleroderma Research.

Evelyn Bertha (Iverson) Berg Dugas, 98, of Clements, died on Monday, Aug. 4, 2003, at Valley View Manor in Lamberton.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield and will continue on Saturday from 9:30 -10:30 a.m. at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Clements.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. today at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, with burial at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Friday at the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield and a CCW and Catholic Aid rosary at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
She is survived by her children, Frederick Berg of Sanborn, Richard Berg of Clements, Elaine Guetter of Wabasso, and Carolyn Baune of Fridley; step daughters, Virginia Nelson of Redwood Falls and Georgiana Berberich of New Ulm; 16 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 3 step great grandchildren; and 1 step great great grandchild; and a sister, Virginia Jeckell of Lamberton.
She was born Sept. 8, 1904, in Cottonwood County, to Paul and Caroline (Fering) Iverson.

Andrew J. Hofmeister, 78, of Marble, Minn., died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2003 in his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13 in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Marble. Interment will be in the Lakeview Cemetery, Coleraine.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, with parish prayers at 7:30 p.m. in the Peterson Funeral Chapel, Coleraine, and will continue from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce; children, David (Sue) Hofmeister of Anoka, Wayne (Betty) Hofmeister of Marble, and Sandra (Tom) Mix of Henderson, NV; grandchildren, Jeremy, Jesse, Allison, and Autumn Hofmeister, and Kacey Mix; a sister; Elmira. Ubl of Owatonna, Minn., and a brother; Ralph (Audrey) Hofmeister of Bemidji, Minn.
His parents, Edwin and Frances Hofmeister and a brother, Marvin Hofmeister preceded him in death.
He was born May 8, 1925 in New Ulm to Edwin and Frances (Bauer) Hofmeister. He grew up and attended schools in New Ulm, and lived at Prairie Lake for five years prior to moving to Marble in 1965. Andrew and Joyce Schugel were married on Oct. 7, 1947 in New Ulm. Andrew had been an over-the-road truck driver, was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Marble, and served in the Army Air Corps during WWII.

Laurence R. Kiecker, age 81, of Fairfax, passed away on Friday, August 8, 2003, in Fairfax.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2003, at 1:30 p.m., at St. John Lutheran Church in Fairfax. Interment will be in the church cemetery in Cairo Township, Renville County.
Visitation will be today from 4 ­ 8 PM and Tuesday from noon until 1:30 p.m., at St. John Lutheran Church in Fairfax.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Heart Association. The Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax is handling the arrangements
Laurence R. Kiecker was born on July 25, 1922, in New Ulm. He was the son of Anton and Sophie (Uetzmann) Kiecker.
Laurence was united in marriage with Merelyn Deterling on Feb. 16, 1944, at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Wellington Township. Laurence farmed all his life, which he enjoyed until his death.
Laurence was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Adelia Black, Helen Freyholtz and Alice Rossow; and brothers, Adolph, George, Edward, Hilmer and Harvey Kiecker.
Laurence is survived by his: wife, Merelyn Kiecker of Fairfax; sons, Laurel (Donna) Kiecker of San Jose, CA and Greg (Maxine) Kiecker of Hector; grandchildren, Debra (Andrew) Trappen, Laurie (Eric) Lewis, Anna Kiecker, Christina (Scott) Clobes, Rebekah Kiecker and Marc Kiecker; great grandchildren, Aubrey Kiecker, Nicole Peterson and Nadine Clobes; a brother, Victor (Doreen) Kiecker of Fairfax; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Edward Kiecker of Fairfax, and Mrs. Pearl Kiecker of Fairfax, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Gert "Bud" Ulrich, 76, of Lafayette, died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2003, at the Winthrop Good Samaritan Center.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, at First Lutheran Church in Lafayette, with Rev. Robert Olson officiating. Burial with full military honors conducted by the Lafayette American Legion Post #300 will follow at the New Ulm City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at Schmucker Funeral Service in New Ulm, and one hour prior to service at the church.
Gert John "Bud" Ulrich, the son of John W. and Marie (Grussendorf) Ulrich, was born Sept. 26, 1926 in Nicollet County where he spent his youth on the family farm and attended "Fort Road University." Bud entered the United States Army in 1950. Following his honorable discharge in September 1952, he returned to the Lafayette area. He was united in marriage to Darlene Bradley on May 12, 1960 in New Ulm. Together, they farmed until 1965. Bud worked for Gehrke Construction, Griebel Implement, and more recently AMPI. Following his retirement, he continued to enjoy working outdoors, especially doing yard work and helping with farming. He was a member of First Lutheran Church of Lafayette and American Legion Post #300 of Lafayette.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene of Lafayette; daughter, Wanda Bastian and her husband Doug of Winona, Linda Geronime and her husband Jeff of Hawaii; sons, David Ulrich and his wife Carla of Mankato, Bradley Ulrich and his wife Holly of Lafayette; eight grandchildren, Kimberlee, Andrew and Mary Bastian, Jeffery and Justin Geronime, Megan and Kyle Ulrich, Katelyn Ulrich; sister, Daisy Schreiner of Waconia; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by brothers, John Ulrich, Mike Ulrich, Werner Ulrich, Chester Ulrich; sisters, Bertha Martens and Myrtle Marquardt.
Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society and the American Diabetes Association.

Irene Sifferath, 91, of Stewart, died Sunday, August 10, 2003, at the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, Aug. 13 at 3:30 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stewart. Interment in St. Matthew's Lutheran Cemetery in Penn Township.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Hughes Funeral Home in Stewart, and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Irene Caroline Opitz Sifferath was born Nov. 9, 1911 in Scott County to Edward and Josephine (Feltden) Krueger.
Irene is survived by her son, Stanley Opitz of New Brighton; six grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and stepsons, Norman Sifferath of Buffalo Lake and Gary Sifferath of Burnsville.
Irene Caroline Opitz Sifferath was born November 9, 1911 in Scott County to Edward and Josephine (Feltden) Krueger.

Stanley O. Veigel, 83, of Willmar, formerly of Franklin, died Monday, Aug. 11, 2003 at Rice Care Center in Willmar.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Franklin and Thursday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church with burial in St. Patrick's Birch Cooley Cemetery, Birch Cooley Township.
He is survived by a daughter, Sharon Veigel of Willmar; son Tom of Franklin; two grandsons and a sister, Marcella Nelson of Sleepy Eye.
He was born Sept. 28, 1919 in Fairfax to Oscar and Mary (Lang) Veigel.

Bernice C. Boyum, 95, of the Fairfax area, died Monday, Aug. 11, 2003, at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Central Lutheran Church in Camp Township, Renville County, with burial at Hauges Cemetery in Camp Township, Renville County.
Visitation is an hour prior to services at the church. Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax is handling the arrangements.
She was born on July 29, 1908, in Camp Township, Renville County, to Christian H. and Annia Marie (Okland) Boyum.

Elizabeth Charlotte (Lampen) Miller, 84, formerly of Comfrey and Reno, Nev., died Sunday, August 10, 2003, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield.
Services will be 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2003, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield.
She was born Sept. 11, 1918, to Charles and Mary (Schunk) Richter Lampen in Comfrey.
She is survived by her nephew Gary Richter and wife Nellie of Comfrey and their children, Mykhaila and Andrew.

Carl P. Norman, 81, of Owatonna, died Monday, Aug. 11, 2003.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003 at the Associated Church, Owatonna, with visitation at the church, one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by his wife Val; two sons, Gregory of Northfield and Gary of St. Francis; a daughter, Gayle Hanzlik of Alexandria; two grandchildren; a brother, Roger of New Ulm.
Memorials are preferred to Owatonna Area Hospice, 903 S. Oak Ave., Owatonna, MN 55060.

Bertha Leona (Swartz) Hanson, 92, of Sleepy Eye, died on Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2003, at Sleepy Eye Care Center in Sleepy Eye.
Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003, at Faith United Methodist Church in Sleepy Eye, with burial at Home Cemetery. Pastor Donn Rakow will officiate. Visitation will be 4 - 7 p.m. Friday and 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the church. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.
She is survived by her sons, Bill Hanson and Chris Hanson of Sleepy Eye; five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Elmer Swartz of Portland, Ore.; and sister, Bernadette Kuchta of Virginia, Minn.
Bertha was born on July 15, 1911, in Bismark, N.D., to Archie and Eva (Wallace) Swartz.

Lynnette "Nettie" Maeder, 35, of Arlington, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2003, at the Sibley Medical Center in Arlington.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 15, 2003, at Kolden Funeral Chapel in Arlington, with Rev. Jonathan Vollrath officiating. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. today and 9 - 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Lynnette is survived by her parents Mahlon and Arline Maeder of Arlington; sister Pamela Maeder of Arlington; brother Mark Maeder of Rocky Mount, Mo.; and grandmother, Adeline Maeder of Arlington.
Lynnette Maeder was born May 12, 1968, in Arlington, to Mahlon and Arline (ZumHofe) Maeder.

Luella 'Peg' Evans, 82, of the Broadway Haus Apartments in New Ulm died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2003 at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, 2003 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm with burial in the Woodstock Cemetery in Woodstock.
Vistation will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday and from 7:30-11 a.m. Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.

Eugene E. 'Gene' Herzog, 82 of Blaine formerly of St. Paul and New Ulm, died Aug. 12, 2003.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. today at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, Stanford at Prior Avenue, St. Paul. Private interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour before the mass at the church. O'Halloran & Murphy Funeral Chapel, St. Paul (651-698-0796), is handling arrangements.
He is survived by his wife Phyllis; children, Maureen Lerum, Timothy Herzog, and Mary Herzog-Benepe; and 12 grandchildren.
He was born in New Ulm to Charles and Lydia Herzog.
